Does it have the AOSP drop menu?
I've got a bad feeling we won't get a choice in color.
Looks good will. Pick one up when it becomes avalaible.
If they restrict color choice might be only in the begining.
If someone here knows which bands it will come with please post.

i check tmobile website i do see there is carrier branding on back of phone just above beatsqudio logo
I can confirm there is no tmobile carrier logo. The branded phone on the website is just a mock-up for show.
think about it, if you're getting the phone on the payment plan you own the phone, not tmobile.

But the branding is their choice, and would let people know what type of HTC one it is.

Runs on their frequency but not on CDMA the unlocked phone is GSM only (att; tmob) so yeah, can't use it at all. Quite the shame, I would love to get me a Note.

Found that out the hard way a long time ago
Tmobile has changed a lot, they are just flat turning into thieves with a business license now. Never switch to a carrier just for the devices they can run, that is just plain not smart, at all.
I am not trying to be offensive, I do have your best interest in mind. With how fast devices are pushed out, there will be one that is better and what you want in 6 months time. So it doesn't make sense to move to a carrier for the phones. You will just get yourself locked into some contract that (Tmobile especially) keeps updating to strip more freedom and cost to to you.

Double check on the actual bands it supports; 3G especially considering the fact that tmob uses their own 3G unlike most other GSM carriers.
Aka it should work fine... BUT it might be stuck on EDGE at all times. Not cool.
Is anyone here using their Atrix 4G unlocked on T-Mobile or anyone other carrier which is not AT&T?
I unlocked it with a tmob sim last night. Noticed I did not get bars with it though

im using mines and works great
I have used mine with three different carriers and no problems (US, UK, SP).
I use Simple Mobile. Does anyone know of another carrier in the U.S that could provide 4g speeds with AT&T bands?
I just gave away my spare atrix to my wife's friend. She's on T-Mobile and hasn't had any problems yet. I did warn her she's on 2g forever and ever.

Yea I use T-Mobile... I got more bars with the Atrix than I got with my last T-Mobile phone lmao... I use prepaid so 2g-4g doesn't affect me...
how can I get it to run 4G on T-mobile?

It will always be slow since its on 2g, nothing you can do.
Why aren't there laws that make it so cell phones are all interchangeable? Something like consumer freedom so you can buy any phone you want and use it on the carrier of your choice.
Use straight talk. Hspa compatible.

Actually, T-Mobile has said they're going to start adopting AT&T's 3G bands with the hope that Apple will let them sell subsidized iPhones. So depending on where you live, you may get 3G on the Atrix. I agree though, more interoperability is needed. This GSM/CDMA split we have is ridiculous.
I'm not using T-Mobile right now, but in a year (when my contract expires) I'm switching to one of their value plans and will unlocking my Atrix to use with them if I'm still happy with it. Given that so far the only spec I see improving on newer phones is the screen resolution, I think it'll still be plenty usable when that happens.

So, looking to upgrade and kick Sprint to the curb after 12 years with Nextel, and Ting is looking like a really fine service as far as four line family plans go. I'm kicking around my HTC Hero, (CM7, gonna try ICS Beta for it's last huzzah.) and was looking for a more powerful Android. Was thinking about getting a feature phone or a mifi, and complementing it with a Galaxy Player. But the Photon looks really, really nice all of a sudden, with 4G and GSM compatibility. Toss in the best specs on a month-to-month phone that I've seen, I'm seriously considering dropping $550 on this thing. Please talk me out of it?
I don't know if you are in the states, but US gsm towers are blocked.
Edit: The photon is featured in their front page, and it gives incorrect/conflicting information about the phone.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
^ Yeah, I know that. Kinda hoping that might be unblocked by the time I'm interested in it, if I want to jump to T-Mobile in the future. I know it's a long shot, but it would be nice to have.

i sent them numerous emails about it :/ lady was real nice but kept claiming they had fixed it
Seriously? Probably should have caught that earlier with all the looking up I did on the phone.
Just get Ting are you in Canada?
Stateside. And with the Photon kinda being oversold on the Ting website, and not that great a bump from the Conquer, dual core nonwithstanding, I'm still a little confuzled on what I want.
How future-proof would you say this thing is, regarding still being competitive in the next couple years? Tend to run them until they dead or unserviceable, and if blow a massive chunk of my tax return, might as well make it last a while.
Experience with Ting thus far...
Hi all,
I recently changed carriers from AT&T (using Motorola Atrix 4G) to Ting (Motorola Photon 4G) and I have recently unlocked the bootloader (yes, I lost 4G connectivity), rooted, and installed the latest version of Rocko ROM with Alien Theme.
Everything has worked out so far and I am having a good experience with the device and with Ting Mobile, from their no wait phone service policy, to their dashboard web interface. I can't really speak to the relative degree of future proofing the Photon may have compared to other phones, I am just happy that I could get away from paying so much for a similar tier of service at AT&T and not necessarily have to compromise on a phone, though not being able to use GSM towers with a prepaid SIM card is a bummer, but otherwise, so far so good. Take care all.

No phone is future proof the way things are flowing manufacturers are cracking phones out of their ass every 3 months or so. You have to look at the development threads that will tell you how active the phone is on the developers on xda are and that should give you an insight on how worth it is.

Thanks all. Think I'm gonna go with the Optimus for now and wait for my laptop to start losing to the newer phones before I drop big money. Should kick the crap out of my Hero, and I'm happy if it can run Peggle and Netflix when it comes down to it. Thanks all.

I disagree. Just because it's a mobile virtual network operator doesn't mean the the files are the same. On the contrary, I'd bet anyone using one of these device could confirm their notification bar and lock screen show Ting as the carrier, not sprint, which means at a minimum the framework-res/eri.xml has been edited, meaning it's not the same file despite being on "technically" the same network.
I'd like to see a system dump of one of these. I think there are magic elves locked inside

what?? i'm not saying they aren't. i'm saying that it a waste of money, to pay them $6 a month plus whatever it costs to not have unlimited anything to have a phone, plus they're a sprint child company like boost mobile and virgin mobile, so your better off just staying with sprint to begin with

Bought my dad a replacement Photon 4G off of Amazon. Tried to do a ESN swap online and was instructed to call Sprint. They're saying that the ESN on the phone is not showing up in their system. Now I'm no newbie when it comes to phones. I've sold almost every carrier there is and I've been rooting, flashing, unlocking and jailbreaking device for a couple of years now. But I'm looking at a almost brand-new looking, Sprint branded, Sprint bloatware loaded Motorola Photon 4G. I've searched high and low on here (XDA) and everywhere else online to no avail. Any ideas? By the way I did contact the seller and the phone was a warranty replacement and emailed me a copy of he paperwork from Motorola
I'd take it in to a Sprint store and have them give it a shot. Unless the ESN is bad (doesn't sound likely), it should work fine.

My phone was the same way. Neither recognized by Sprint or Motorola. Turned out that my phone was likely a development phone for testing gsm and had a unique radio. You might have to use yours on a gsm carrier whether or not the baseband you have is unique. Just out of curiosity, what is your phone's baseband?

That is different from mine. If you can use a gsm carrier for this phone, you could flash the kidi radio and use any gsm carrier you like.

Wouldn't work because my dad has Sprint. Anyhoo the seller sent me another Photon and allowed me to keep the first one. Now my dad is up and running. I'll take your advice and flash the kidi radio for it but I'd still like to know what's up with the original phone.. Thanks!

Kinda sounds like someone mighta swapped the wrong sticker for the ESN .. If it doesn't show up in the system. Glad you got another one.
I can'at get any more specific with that question. LoL!!
I've been reading online, and I think it is, though I don't see it on the website. I figured it would come to Tmo, but eh...? Doesn't seem like it.
What about an unlocked AT&T one? Well... I wouldn't get an unlocked one. I don't want the phone that badly. LoL!!
I also feel I should put this. I searched this thread for the keyword "Tmobile" and nothing showed up. Just in case someone asks. =.P
Thanks for any answers!! =.D
No not yet im waiting to see if Tmobile will get it as well. I asked a few people at Tmo stores and they have no knowledge if they will even carey the phone.

While the idea is nice, I wanted to use my Tmo Jump option. LoL!! But it's in January, so newer phones will be coming out. I think I'll just wait and see what the HTC M8 (HTC One successor) will be. Supposedly it'll be a 5-inch device, though it won't be a phablet. Hmm...
How do you get the LTE for tmobile to work on The verizon Version?
