Hello,o
I have INT Samsung Galaxy S wifi 5.0 with 2.2.2 froyo. I want to flash it with USA gingerbread 2.3.5 stock rom.Is it possible ? It works ? or bricks device ?
Thanks
That's not a good idea. It would most likely cause your home button to stop working and a brick. Only flash your device's stock rom and no one elses.

There are stock ROMs for the INT version of the player..
I use these ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192488
if you want a rooted stock ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446774
i use the rooted ROM, both are 2.3.6, it's stable and i got no problems with it...
Hope this helps...

if you are trying to remove traces of custom kernel/rom then the easiest way was to reflash the stock rom.if you want a stock rom then there is a site where you can download it but you has to register(its free) to download,Links:http://www.mod2xtreme.com/showthread.php?t=11661.you might lose your data so backup.
Hai, my SGS2 now on x-treme jb aokp 1.1 but i want to go back stock ics 4.0.4. Is there any suggestion for me or i just use odin & flash stock firmware?
I'm not very clear in this matter.

You just need to flash stock rom through odin.

You'll just flash an ICS firmware
It doesn't really matter what customROM / firmware you came from, you can just directly flash it. go to download mode and flash an awesome fw hope this helps

Rather than making a new thread, I hope you don't mind me asking a question in relation to your initial question.
Is it okay that I install an ICS 4.0.3 as opposed to installing a 4.0.4 one? I wish to avoid the eMMC bug that I dismissed by installing a different kernel, I would rather avoid 4.0.4 until there's an official fix. If so,
Download 4.0.3 stock ROM
Flash using Odin
Back to stock ROM, kernel and in root?

Just got my 5.0 and I want to try a different ROM. I looked but couldn't find a page with the stock ROM. Also I got it used. Is there a way to find out if the ROM on here is stock or not? Is there a way of imaging what u have currently so that uf there is something I don't like that I can go right back to what I have now?
In terms of installing a different ROM, do I need to root first? And what is this CM10 that I see? Do I need to install it as well?
Thanks!
What player do you have? international or Korean or US? Either way I think there are stock roms for all three

It should be the US version. It says YP-G70 on the back. I didn't see a thread for the stock ROM on the Android Development page.
Also does anyone know anything about making an image of my current setup?
Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520728 there is the stock rom for the US. US one is the one with capacitive buttons. The international one has a hard home button if I am not mistaken. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922461 this thread explains you on how to flash things with Odin/Heimdall

Hi there!
I am wanting to update my Samsung Galaxy GT-i9300 but am worried about the process because of having installed a custom kernel previously (would this muck up installing a new custom rom I wonder..)
Please find attached a screenshot of the settings and please tell me what I should do (if anything needs done) before I flash a new custom rom.
Cheers!
if you're worried about kernels, then just flash stock kernel then flash a custom rom on it.

kk, could you provide me with a suitable stock kernel (or links to one) which will be compatible with the rom I have installed?
any stock kernel that is for jb will be fine.

I am on android version 4.0.4 (so technically not JellyBean). and its safe to flash a stock kernel for JB despite being on that version before I flash a custom rom?
Sorry for asking, get confused easily..
you should be fine updating with a custom kernel (as all roms flash a kernel as well). Just make sure you factory reset when moving from ics to JB as you will most likely encounter problems if you don't.

I would suggest flashing ICS stock kernel first if you're worried. I thought you were already on jb.

Easy
Reflash the stock ics ROM
And flash any custom ROM you want
Enjoy

Just about to flash a ROM on my S3 (first time), and I'm just asking are different version ROMs compatible with the stock version ROM? e.g: I have a s3 running Jellybean 4.1.1 (stock) but can I flash a different ROM that's made for ICS?
Thanks

Just make sure, that your s3 version is made for the rom. If so you should be able to flash all roms. Why would you want to go back to ics?

When you mean s3 version do you mean like GT-i9300 etc.? And so if it was made for that (GT-i9300), I would be able to flash any ROM?
yes
