[ Troubleshooting ]
if u are completely new to flashtool OR have never used it before PLEASE READ THIS: [FLASHTOOL GUIDE] HOW TO for n00bies
sometimes when flashing SEUS/PCC might interfere with flashtool which will lead to flashtool not able to recognize X10... if u have this problem then exit ALL OTHER running apps like SEUS/PCC antivirus/etc... only then Flashtool will work correctly...
many users have reported that it is best to first install latest SEUS and then use flashtool... this will help Windows get the latest drivers for X10 from SEUS...
seems some users are unable to get correct drivers... u can download them from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193066
users facing the issue "Running uname -r command" follow the instructions here
if u have any other FLASHTOOL specific question u can read thru FlashTool thread
if u are still facing lots of issues u can simply use the prerooted recovery image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192152

im at the step where iv just flashed the downgrade kernel, shall i wait before turning on then see what youv put and go from there? cant get the timing right between those 2 steps and keep getting stuck on se logo
Yes, just hold on for the instructions.
I have tried twice using the guide in the other thread and neither time did the root work. Both times the phone stayed at the SE logo after flashing kernel and while FlashTool allowed me to root at that stage it doesn't seem to work.
Therefore, I am also waiting to see more info in this guide.
PS- no need to quote everything, especially something massive like the first post!

shall i not reboot my phone for now then?
OK so following this guide confirmed that I did everything right the previous times.
Now I have done it again using the FlashTool in the OP, everything goes as it should but STILL when I reboot at the end everything is normal....
No root, no superuserm it's untouched.
The only difference I noticed is that where the screen shot here shows:
"Installed version of busybox : None"
Mine just shows:
"Installed version of busybox : " (without the word "none")
However, the pushing messages are all there and correct.
My phone also does NOT reboot after rooting and stays on the SE logo. Here I simply removed the battery and waited as instructed.
No idea what I can possibly be doing wrong here.

EDIT: I have now followed the steps again (and precisely as I did the previous 4 times), this time everything has worked and the phone IS rooted.
The only thing I have changed is using a different PC so I think the drivers may have been the problem earlier. Even though FlashTool said it was pushing things to the phone it seemingly was not.

Hello Everyone,
Lately, I have seen lots of confusion regarding the ICS update that is to be released by Sony.

How to Update your phone normally by Sony Method?
Go here for the list of SI numbers that are eligible for the update. Check your SI number by opening the back cover of your phone, and removing the battery and seeing the number underneath. In case this SI number matches with one on the list at Sony Website, connect your phone to the Computer, and you should be able to update using PCC or SUS.
___________________
What are SI numbers and CDF numbers?
Phones of each region has a specific SI number as well as a CDF number. That is, to every SI number there is a corresponding CDF number.
To know your SI number, we need open the back cover of the phone, and remove the battery, and see the number underneath.
Corresponding to this SI number you have a CDF number. For knowing your CDF number, open the dail pad of your phone, and dial:
Code:
*#*#7378423#*#*
then go to Service Info > Software Info. There, the Customization Version is your CDF number.
___________________
How to Force update your phone?
Sony releases the update for an SI number... This means that all phones having that SI number or the corresponding CDF number is eligible for the update.
The software PCC or SUS, reads the CDF number from build.prop file in your phone memory. If we can edit our CDF number and change it to one whiose corresponding SI has recieved the update, we can fool SUS or PCC and get the update.
For more info and a list of CDF numbers: Here

Can I root my phone after Update to 4.0.4?
After Sony released the 4.0.3 update, DoomLord and team created an easy root toolkit for both locked and unlocked bootloader: Here.
However, the 4.0.4 update is immune to this method of root. So to root on 4.0.4 some workaround methods have been brought up.
Scenario I: You are in a rooted GB firmware. Here . Read Post #3 to know how the method works. Go Here to get a step by step Tutorial.
Scenario II: You are in ICS non rooted Firmware. Reported to work on the Xperia Pro: Here. Recommended only for testers and devs currently

For that, install PC Companion on your PC.
And go to C:\Flashtool\drivers and Double Click Flashtool-drivers.exe. Installation here after is self explanatory.
I. Put the downloaded ftf file to C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder.

How will Rooting on unrootable 4.0.4 works?
Explanation for someone who is in KG of Android School.
Explaination the method of root, as given by puppet13th.
This method involves the following steps:
1. Creation of a file [/data/local.prop] which lets specific applications access the root of your device. For this you need to have root access. That is, you create this file when you are on .58 or .62 or whatever, rooted GB firmware. So, for rooting your 4.0.4 you need to start from GB itself.
2. Updating to ICS, but making sure you preserve the file /data/local.prop. For this you update making sure you do not do a factory reset.
So after this step, you have a working unrooted ICS ROM, but with a gate which can allow su binary and superuser.apk to be pushed.
3. Now, you can push the su binary and superuser.apk files, into the phone memory through the gateway you created earlier.
Now you have a working 4.0.4 ROM with SU Binary and Superuser.apk planted. That is a rooted 4.0.4 ROM.
Head over to puppet's thread to get the required files and a step by step procedure of the above technique. Puppet's Tutorial going over your head? See here for another tutorial of the same procedure
______________
Explaination the method of root, as given by AeonWorld. [Note: This method is reported working with Xperia Pro (as well as Xperia Arc, Arc S, Neo, Neo V, and Ray), and should work with the mdpi devices too. In case it doesn't work and you end up with a broken phone, you will need to flash some working firmware ftf on your device to get it working again] Recommended only for testers and devs currently
1. Update your device to ICS 4.0.4.
2. Download the Xperia Neo 4.0.3 ftf, and flash only the kernel in the package.
To do this, after selecting the 4.0.3 Neo ftf file in Flashtool, make sure the options of Flashtool look as follows:
3. Turn on Your phone, and you will see black screen, as the kernel doesn't match with the ROM. But ADB will work even then.
4. Run the DoomLord's Toolkit for root, and it will work with the 4.0.3 kernel, and SU binary files and SuperUser will be pushed to the phone memory.
At this stage, you have a "not working" device with a rooted 4.0.4 ROM and the 4.0.3 Kernel.
5. Again flash only the kernel of 4.0.4 ROM from the 4.0.4 ftf for your device (Using flashtool as you did before)
At the end of this step, you will have a working 4.0.4 Rooted ROM with the 4.0.4 kernel.
Go to AeonWorld's thread (for Xperia Pro) to get the required file and more information.

Banor means
The meaning of Banor come may come from a craft, such as the name "Brewster" which refers to a female brewer. Some of these trade-based family names may be a profession in a different language. This is why it is essential to understand the country of origin of a name, and the languages used by it's family members. Many names like Banor originate from religious texts such as the Bible, the Bhagavadgītā, the Quran, and so forth. Often these surnames relate to a religious sentiment such as "Favored of God".

Turning on my pc again to help you. Wait. I will come back soon. .
Thanks,
Rick
Edit:
Okay, So here's what you need to do.
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26914104#post26914104, and download the file called Xperia-ROOT.zip as uploaded by puppet.
Then extract it, and run the file 01-local-prop.cmd. It will ask you to connect your phone to the PC. Do it when prompted. Make Sure USB debugging is checked "on", and turn on the screen and then continue.
The batch file 01-local-prop.cmd will now try to replace the /data/local.prop with a new one. For that, it will ask for root permissons from Superuser, and Superuser in turn will ask you. So you will have to allow. (That's why you turned the screen of your device on).
When the batch run is complete, you have the necessary local.pro in /data.
All this you do when you are on a rooted .58 or .62 or whatever GB firmware.
Then, you wait for Sony to release the update.
Once Sony releases the update, you update using PCC or SUS or Flashtool, but you must make sure that you do not factory reset. That is you preserve the edited local.prop.
Once the update is done you will be running a 4.0.4 ROM which is unrooted.
Now run the file 02-push-root-files.cmd from the zip file puppet gave. Follow the onscreen instructions, and the batch file will push superuser and the SU binary files thus giving you root.
At the end of this step, you will be running a 4.0.4 ROM with root.
Okay, I typed a lot. Read it and you will understand. And if you still don't ask me again. I will try to help. And obviously you can ask master Puppet13th and I am sure he will help you too.

Hi there! I started playing around with custom roms for my x10 mini pro u20 about two weeks ago, it's both been a lot of fun and a good bit of frustration. This is the thread that helped me understand rooting (unlocking the phone for installing custom software), installing (flashing) kernels (base software/ installs drivers), and installing (flashing) ROMs (GUI/ User interface software/operating system)
!! Use titanium backup or nandroid to back up all your current install to your SDcard. If you don't, you're gonna be annoyed later.
1) Download and install Flash tool for Xperia devices http://www-stud.uni-due.de/~sfanmakr/X10Flash/X10Flash-2.1.zip
2) Download nAa kernel for ICS http://minicm.googlecode.com/files/E10_nAa-ics-04_2.6.29.6-nAa-ics-04.ftf (Your kernel must always match the build of the rom you are going to install)
- save the .ftf file in the /firmware directory of your flashtool install
3) Download ICS ROM appropriate to your phone from http://code.google.com/p/minicm/downloads/list
4) Download Google Apps package for ICS http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
That should be all you need to download.
You do not have to format or loose data from your SD card. It is where you store the ROM zip file and the Gapps (Google Apps) zip file, without unpackaging them, in the root directory of the SD card.
Here is a step by step on how to flash the new kernel on your phone using flashtool, then how to install the zips. It is a page about an x8, but the process is more or less identical between the x8, x10 mini, and x10 mini pro.
http://apgalaxy.com/minicm9-v3-0-2-xperia-x8-ics/
Good luck!
I have found I prefer gingerbread/miniCM7, my u20/ mini pro gets very slow on miniCM9.
Remember to hit the Thanks button!
What the guy above said except don't download a ROM That's not for our phones! Smultrom or whatever it was isn't the mini. Robyn is the mini. Download miniCM9 from the x10 mini android development section

Thanks x10man, was kinda confused because of the poster's description of his phone. What's the shorthand for the xperia x10 mini? I know the x10 mini pro is u20. Kinda important in this particular case.

Hey thanks bro i finally installed CMmini 9 on the phone
So far its looks great, has improved alot from the last time...
Anyway i have few more queries
1- What are the other custom roms i can use or try? Like IceCream Sandwich, GingerBread, Froyo and where can i get these custom Roms?
2- Are there incompatibility issues with certain Roms in case of my device?
3- I wish to try veetle App on my phone, i installed Veetle app but it asked for Adobe Flash Player 11 which incompatible with my E10i model
..so i did some googling and got to some page where in comments someone said Its possible to Install Adobe Flash player 11 in GingerBread and Froyo. Is it possible? and where can i get the Latest Roms of Froyo and GingerBread
4- What is the best app for downloading paid apps on the phone like applanet?
Thanks bro :victory:

More folk are going to have to post to answer those questions for you! I've gone so far as just the custom roms myself. I tried one of the nightly builds of miniCM7, and it rocks! It looks like CM7 and CM9 are two different branches instead of actual in-line software version updates. Aka, a newer build of miniCM7 (like 2.3.6) can be just as up to date as miniCM09.
One of the helpful tools on this site is the 'search in this thread' box on the right hand side of the page. You have to navigate up to the appropriate forum, and then type something like [ROM] in the search box, and then press enter, and browse the search results. That usually helps a lot with searching for custom roms, for example. Try starting in 'XPERIA X10 Mini Android Development' http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=726 that's where developers are supposed to post their Roms.
you can try searching, for example, for '[ROM] Adobe Flash' to see if someone has made a rom with adobe flash player packaged already in the rom, or if they comment about it.
Always browse the last few pages of a ROM thread, to see if folk are reporting errors you don't want to run into.
Always look at the ROM requirements- the developer will almost always tell you what kernel to flash before installing the ROM.
INSTALL ANTIVIRUS! Avast or AVG from the google play store are the best. Download, install, then open the Antivir program to get it running. Android is one of the most hacked OSes out there because it's so popular, and even google play has malware in it. Antivir should be your FIRST step when getting cozy with a new rom.
You can install android software from the web too... You first must allow 'Unknown sources' - I think it's under either Applications or security in settings. Then use browser to navigate to the page/software you want, and you can download from there. If it's a *.apk file, you can browse to it using file manager under the SDcard's /download dir, and then open it to install it.
Sure, there are plenty of incompatable ROMs.. just like there's a whole lot of android phones. That's why it's best to use the forum/search tool, and read to make sure the ROM is built for your particular phone. I've accidentally installed, for example, a flash kernel for the E10 on my phone, and a ROM for the u20i, and then successfully booted it, but could not use the touchscreen! The Kernel is one of the most important parts, having the wrong kernel is often the reason for Wifi not working properly, etc.
Thus.. always make sure that you are using the right kernel for your phone AND for the rom. You are using a kernel right now for ICS, and if you were to try and install a ROM for gingerbread (android 2.x.x) on it, you might be able to boot the rom and even use a bit of the software, but certain functions would be buggy.
If you do everything and then reboot and just get the kernel's animation for minutes and minutes on end, something went funky with the install. reboot it, enter the kernel, enter mounts and storage and then mount USB, and then re-download the ROM and install again.
Remember to press the thanks button!
Enjoy, -illys

Thanks alot man :victory:
You made a a lot easiar for me.
I installed CM9 based on ICS and turns out adobe flash player isnt going to work in this ROM.
So as stated i downloaded the CM7 GingerBread Rom from this site (h t t p: // code.google.com/p/minicm/downloads/list ), as i read on the forum people saying adobe flash player is working on this ROM smoothly. This is the one i downloaded (MiniCM7-2.2.1-robyn MiniCM7-2.2.1 Build featured x10 mini MiniCM7) Release date June 10 88.1 mb <-- I hope i have downloaded the correct Rom
Anyway so i proceeded with the same process as explained to install a Rom. Except i did not flashed any new kernel or anything.
I copied the GingerBread Rom (MiniCM7-2.2.1-robyn) in the SD card and restarted and tapped the back button during the nAa kernel boot and got to the screen where i can install the GingerBread rom from SD card. Ps- I did Wiped Data/factory reset,Cache. Dalvik-Cache, Battery Stats, and formatted the system and then installed the new GingerBread Rom from sd card. And it got installed smoothly and when i restarted the screen got stuck at the bootlogo of Mini CM7
I got confused what have i done wrong here
Anyway i did some search on forum and i found maybe its the kernel?? For GingerBreal CM7 there is a specific kernel??
Is this the reason why the GingerBread Rom got stuck on Boot logo screen? or there any other reason to it
And If i have to install a new Rom say for instance CM7 GingerBread Rom over the already installed CM9 ICS Rom what are the steps for doing that. (Ps- As the steps i tried didnt work)
And if it is the kernel issue where can i download the kernel for GingerBread Rom CM7?
Lastly i have some adventurous stupid questions
1- Like PC we have dual boot where we can choose the OS out of all the OS's installed, Can this be possible on the phone?? Like Installing more then 1 Rom on same device?
2- And is there a way to Connect my phone to my Pc and use the rom on my desktop?
Like i have 40 inch LCD TV which is connected to my CPU via HDMI output... so can it be possible to run the Rom on the desktop by connecting the Phone to Pc?
3- Like is there a Virtual machine on which Android custom roms can be tested before usage?? Like Vmware and Parallels for Windows
Again Thanks a lot for guiding me, this post really made my life easiar
Waiting for reply
Regards
Yes you need the nAa-GB kernel from here
Just flash it with flashtool and your MiniCM7 installation should boot.
Not sure about the dual-boot, i think it's possible by installing one ROM on the sd-card and the other one on the internal space (which is where the rom normally goes), but we have only space for one kernel, so both roms should work with the same kernel. How to go about it, I don't know though.
Connecting your phone to your pc won't run your ROM on the pc, since your pc has got an x86 architecture and your phone is based on ARM, I guess connecting the phone directly to the hdmi-output of your TV might run the ROM full-screen, but unfotunately, our phones don't have HDMI out. and i don't think it's going to work through usb.
I'm fairly sure there is an Android-emulator that will run Android ROMS or Apps in a virtual machine for testing or trying out. I think that is included in the official Android Software Development Kit from Google.

Hi!!
Just got your Xperia Z Ultra and start looking on how to root, unlock your bootloader and do everything you can for start playing with your phone with a maximum of security? You are at the good place!!
First of all, install PC Companion, you just need to plug your phone on the PC and follow instructions on your phone and PC.
To make things clear, I didn't do any of those tools and link the threads where they come from, so if you want to thanks devs do it there. I tried all of them without any problem and I do this thread for help people who know nothing about Sony Android devices or simply want to find everything in one place. They are fully working, so if things go wrong while following explanations this is bad luck, you did something wrong and/or forgot to do something. Neither I nor the Devs can be kept responsible for what you are doing on your device.

Thanks a lot hamdogg
First tool you need to know when you own a Sony Android device is Flashtool. I invite every owner wishing to root, unlock or mess with your phone to install this program and install Flashtoo-drivers.exe (directory: C:\Flashtool\Drivers\). This tool is a jewel, you can flash any factory firmware, unlock your bootloader and cherry on the cake, make a TA backup, that will backup all your TA partitions including locked bootloader with DRM keys. Keys those are necessary to enable X-Reality and bravia engine.
But to be able to do a TA backup you need first to root your Z Ultra.
- First of all you need to enable USB debugging, you will find it on /Settings/Developer options. For enable Developer options you need to go on /Settings/About phone/ and tap 8 times on Build number.
Mod edit - VRoot links and install guide removed
until such time as the validity of this software can be determined due to some security concerns regarding this application.
- OK, now SuperSu closed by itself and disappeared, no stress it's normal, just restart your phone.
- After full reboot, open supersu again, and it won't ask you for update binary anymore. Just close it.
- Download Titanium Backup Root and open it.
- Just be patient, promt for root access can take time, but it'll come.
Enjoy!!
I just updated from .526 to .532 and done this process and it was successful at the first try. If it doesn't work just try again. It work on any firmware version and country
All is thanks to @nickylou88 for this process.
And if you need more support you can look at this thread you have all information you need inside. The OP introduce another program, but VRoot is the less complicate to use and work as well.
Now you can make a TA backup following the instructions on this post.
Ok, now your phone is rooted, but more important you made a backup of your TA partition. It is important because if you soft brick your phone or wish to restore your bootloader to locked state if you unlocked it now you can.
I am not doing a TA backup tuto as the one on the original thread is more than complet
Here there is the other program that allow you to make a TA backup.
hamdogg provide us a really good Youtube tuto.
[B]Unlock bootloader and Install Recovery[/B]
Sony offer us a way to unlock our boot loader here but we have Flashtool, so why not use it instead? Easy and fast.
-Just click on “BLU” icon next to the flash icon
-Remember how to enter flashmod.
-Remember how to enter fastboot mod
-Click on Get Unlock Code then follow instructions on Sony website
-Enter the Code Sony sent on your email and let the program do.
When done boot your device you are unlocked.
Now it is time to flash Recovery. For do so you need to have adb and fastboot on your PC, all the information you need for install it and more can be find Here.
Another Youtube tuto from hamdogg
To flash recovery you need to put advanced stock kernel v5.img to “C:\SDK ANdroid\sdk\platform-tools\” then type :
Code:
fastboot flash boot C:\SDK ANdroid\sdk\platform-tools\advanced stock kernel v5.img
Reboot your phone to system a first time then turn it off.
To enter CMW:
-Turn on your phone as usually
-On Sony boot Screen look when the led turn purple push volume up
-Enjoy CMW
To enter TWRP:
-Turn on your phone as usually
-On Sony boot screen look when the led turn purple push volume down
-Enjoy TWRP
[B] Flash or update a firmware from another country [/B]
While looking on the forum it is possible for you to find someone posting the latest firmware, but when you plug your phone on your PC and look for update with PC Companion it tell you have the latest firmware. It simply because the firmware came out first on another country, you can simply wait for it to come in your country. If you don't want to wait you have 2 possibilities.
- Download the .ftf and flash it via Flashtool
Follow step by step this post
- Modify your CDA code on your build.prop but need to be rooted
Open build.prop with any explorer with root permission (I use root explorer) and modify the following values with the values you need:
Reboot your phone then plug it to your PC and update with PC Companion.

YEs, you do not lose it. Nobody using this tool loosed it. It doesn't touch at your TA partitions. After rooting if you are really that much concerned about your DRM keys you can make a TA backup. SuperSU is an application so it doesn't require anything from the bootloader.

- backup TA partition...
- access to bootloader
- flashing firmware
I'll follow your methods, so then you can shove the videos on here, and hopefully that will be another form of visual help..

WiFi isssue after flashing D6603 rom
Hi,
I liked the idea of flashing D6603 rom on my SGP621 and rooting it..
I like my tablet now even more..
But the WiFi is not working for me now, only LTE/3G..
Also the camera not working, but I don't care because I'm using my mobile phone for taking pictures..
Is there any way to make WiFi working with D6603 rom?
Thanks...

Normaly it takes not more than a few minutes. You can resend it at any time by requesting it again on sonymobile. If it still does not work you may need to get in touch with developer support on their website.

No, you cannot. As there are other drivers used. If you want root and WiFi you need to follow the tutorial to the end and in the process unlock your bootloader and return to the SGP621 stock rom.
Hi lowtraxx
Thanks a lot for your great work!
I have the SGP611 version and have successfully followed rurie's guide to root the unit. Now i'm installing the rooted stock, but I'm stuck at your step 30. In step 28 I booted into fastboot and used Flashtool to execute the Z3TC-stock-twrp.img by pressing the button "Select system to Flash" and selecting the img-file, see pic.
I have tried to reboot by pressing "Reboot into fastboot mode (via Fastboot) to press volume down on purple light. However, the light never goes purple. It is blue, then swishes to red for an instance/glimpse. I have tried to hold down "volume down" and to press it many times but nothing works. Can you explain step 30 to 32 in detail, e.g. by using the buttons on the Flashtool - Fastboot toolbox (see pic)?
Thanks

Hi,
I hope you did not flash the SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE.ftf onto your device but the one that is for the SGP611, because from your description it sounds like you are in a bootloop. I haven't used Flashtool to flash a kernel before, I am only using the command line. But my best guess would be that you need to click on Select Kernel to flash, select the Z3TC-stock-twrp.img and click on flash. Once that is done, you should reboot the device and wait until the Xperia logo shows up and the LED goes purple. If you now press volume down you get into recovery where you need to flash the RICDefeat.zip file you downloaded. If that does not work, download flashtool binary for windows, open a cmd prompt as Administrator, boot into fastboot mode and execute 'fastboot flash boot /path/to/the/Z3TC-stock-twrp.img' and then continue as outlined above.

Thanks for your reply. I have used the SGP611 firmware, so no problem.
I have flashed Z3TC-stock-twrp.img unto the unit using the button Select Kernal, but when I reboot the LED never goes purple - only blue and for a quick glimpe (~1-3 ms) red. If I boot the unit in normal mode (without fastboot mode or flash mode) it gets stuck at the Sony logo and cannot be shut down without pressing the small force-shut-down button next to the SD card. (It booted as SPG611 just fine before I flashed Z3TC-stock-twrp.img unto it - using the button Select Kernal.)
EDIT. Tried to download Z3TC-stock-twrp.img again and flash it using CMD in windows. Now I can access Recovery.
I'm progressing, but only slowly.
I'm at step 32 in the guide but every time I try to load/install RICDefeat it fails. Nothing happens when I try to issue 'adb sideload /path/to/RICDefeat.zip', so I have put the file on my external SD card. But when I press "install" - "external_sd" - "RICDefeat.zip" in the twrp Recovery it fails and an error comes: "Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/RICDefeat.zip'".
How can I progress? Why do I have to install RICDefeat?
Without RICDefeat you are not able to mount the system partition writeable, so you have no real root. The error is odd though. Have you tried downloading the RICDefeat.zip again, maybe it was corrupted too (like the TWRP img)

Yes, I have tried downloading it again by clicking "View Raw". I have copied both to the SDcard, but both fails with same error.
Trying to use ADB Sideload and writing "adb devices" in Windows CMD from the folder C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\platfo rm-tools just returns an empty list, and installing from SD fails with "Error executing updater binary in zip '/external_sd/RICDefeat.zip'".
Is it possible to go back some steps and try again - without bricking the device? E.g. to step 26? Is there an other place to down the advanced stock kernel?

It worked! I now have an rooted Z3 tablet compact with stock rom and locked bootloader. :good:
I solved it by tring to go back to step 26 and try one more time (with the same files, and same method). This time I did get the same errors about LED in twrp, but everything worked just like it was suppose to and explained in this guide. The RICDefeat flash just took 5 seconds.
Thank you for helping me!
Last questions:
Will I be able to receive Other OTA updates, e.g. for Lollipop when Sony is ready?
Can I always go back to step 35 if I want a clean/new installation, or do I have to unlock the bootloader first, going back to step 24?

Hi,
you will most likely be notified about OTA updates, but you should not take them, because they will not apply properly and most likely remove root again. Just wait for recovery flashable updates or build your own flashable update once the ftfs for the lollipop versions get available. If you want a clean installation without unlocking the bootloader again, just build a flashable zip of a clean ftf and flash that. If you want to send it in for repairs and the like, you can always flash a clean ftf with flashtool, but if you want to root it afterwards you need to unlock the bootloader again.

I'm currently trying to flash RICDefeat from recovery and am getting the exact same error you reported. Do you know what exactly changed that allowed you to flash it successfully? Did you use the RAW version? Where did you put it, internal memory or SD?
Thanks!

I did not change anything. The second time just went a lot faster as I had tried it before. I put RICdefeat on the SD card.
I also have a Z3 Compact (phone). That it a lot simpler to root and RICdefeat is not needed in that guide. Maybe you can get inspiration there?

I actually have been following a guide in the Z3C forums but ended up with partial root. RICD should be able to solve it, but gave me an arror. When I read you've been having similar problems, I thought I'd give it a go. Thanks anyway.

Try this one;

All works fine.
Hey,
today I got my Xperia X3CT and I followed this Guide to Root my Tablet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-t...gp621-t3013534
(I rooted my LG G2 so I thought I should be able to Root my Tablet without any problems )
At Point 6 I started my Tablet, but somehow it is Stuck in a Bootloop. I am sure I did everything the way the Guide told me to, but somehow my Tablet is still in a Bootloop. How do I get out of it? I can turn the Device of by pressing the Power Button und the Volume Up Button.
Can someone please help?
EDIT: Got out of the Bootloop by flashing back to SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE.ftf. That was quite a shocker
I think the Problem was that I was at 23.1.A.0.690. Now that I am at 23.0.1.A.0.167 it should make any problems? Or could there be another Problem? Would be thankful for help

That was the problem , you must follow the manual from kitkat (23.0.1.A.0.167) . I advise to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...to-rooted-lollipop-locked-bootloader-t3083980 ( No need to open the bootloader ). I made a guide in Spanish
