System failure after restoring system backup in safestrap 3.11 - Motorola Droid RAZR

hey guys I need some help I have safestrap 3.11 recovery on my phone and I installed a ROM on stock slot by mistake which in fact didn't work and I have a backup of my old system. I tried to restore this backup and all gone fine until I booted up my phone and what I saw was a black screen and the buttons' lights turn on and it vibrates when pressing a combination of buttons. I need some help or if you can give me a link to another thread of a same incident would be great! Thanks in advance !!!

[Q] my razr won't stop rebooting

Hi everyone
Before 2 weeks I got my Motorola razr XT910 then I root it everything was fine until I change the font on my razr then I didn't like it so I changed it back using Root manger after that it won't stop rebooting it will boot until the vibration on the boot screen then it will reboot again and again …….etc.
So I did a recovery restore (format) then it worked fine until I push the sleep button then it will reboot continually like before I tried everything .
Please your help..
Do you have Safestrap installed? Did you make a backup?

Dude you can try flashing one of those official ROMs at the ROM thread in the development section. Please flash the correct version according to your region.
Thank you all for replaying.
Last night I remembered that I have used razr bootstrap so I restored my last pack up and everything is back to normal.

I cant reactivate!!!

I put the miui rom on my phone and i did the factory reset so now i have to reactivate my phone. The problem is it wont reactivate when i dial *228 it says problem with activation. What could be the problem please help.
Try *22899
got the same thing
Unless the Verizon activation is down again. Was a few weeks ago. Just curious as to why u did a factory reset in miui?

Update...activation works scratch that.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Called Verizon and they were doing updates. Next morning I called and they said it was back up. However I still could not activate then I restored to stock and activated no problem. Then restored my cm7 without activation and then it was fine.
Do a backup now and restore back to stock. Activate and then restore your miui.
Can I sbf? If so does anyone know any good tutorials

Did you do a nano back up of your stock rom? If so just restore that. If not do that first before making changes that way you can save yourself from a SBF.
if you do not know how to do a nano backup follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083
Sadly no does that mean I am screwed

Follow this to sbf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
Then after you activate root and download the tenfar recovery from stickies then make a nano backup first that way if you get in trouble you just restore back to stock.

No problem the sbf is not as bad as some might make it sound. You just have to make sure you download all the drivers and the SBF file and rsd lite. If you get stuck do be scared to ask. Also if you never did a SBC remember to get your phone to communicate with rsd lite you turn phone off and hold power and volume button up at same time and it will boot you to red mode then you are good.

+1 takes a couple min to download and install beyond that its easy easy lemon squeezy

Also if your phone bootloops after sbf do not panic it is normal sometimes coming from a custom rom. You can fix it easily by doing a restore factory reset in android recovery not bsr. If you do not know how to do it let us know and we will explain it.
So if you do bootloop after sbf rebooted your phone 100% then pull battery and put it back in. Now instead of hitting up volume and power this time use down volume and power at same time. You will see fastboot use volume down button to scroll down to android recovery. When you see android recovery then hit volume up this will bring you to android and big grey triangle then hit both volume up and down at same time. Now you will be in android recovery. Volume rocker to factory reset and hit the power button and use volume buttons to choose yes. After its done select reboot and you will load up just fine after that.
Let us know if it works for you. Or if you have any more questions. Remember cm7 is awesome unless you need HDMI. Eclipse is great as well and HDMI works. I have eclipse nano back up so if I need HDMI I can just restore.
Did all the stuff last night it all worked fine. I had the bootloop and it worked. Reactivated it with no problem. Once again thanks for all the help.

Perfect now you can try a rom if you like it then back it up. I have had up to 4 different Roms backed up so you can restore which ever you like. Glad it helped! Just make sure you stick with the same kernal like the 2.3.4. If you ever go to 2.3.5 you will have to sbf back to 2.3.4 to get the kernal right.
If you could put [solved] in your title next to your problem and this might help someone else with the same issue.

Just flashed to RockoDev 2.3.5 with locked bootloader and I'm in a bootloop...=\

I had 2.3.5 on my device so I couldn't unlock my bootloader first...
I've rooted my phone and flashed the ROM using BootStrap recovery, but when I rebooted my device, I just see the motorola logo (without the pulsing wave. just the logo with "DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY" written...
If i push the power button with one of the volume buttons I can get the RSD protocol mode or the FastBoot menu.
Is there anything I can do to try and recover my phone?:crying:
Please help!

you can try restoring your system because that's all that's messed up. i've had a couple people try my system restore method and it worked. one has reported a failed to boot 4... you can alternatively try the sbf restore. both are shown on my site here http://www.motosunfire.com/system/ be sure to restore your backup (which you should have one) if you get it booted from the system restore.
thanks for replying

it shouldn't hurt because it's only restoring the system files. you can either do that or flash the Electrify SBF, but then you need to do a bunch of other steps to restore your phone. so it's up to you. i've had a few have success with my system restore method. one failure. i don't see it bricking the device in any way. it's as safe as it gets
ok
ok, I've done what you've written in your website
it now says:
"Faild to boot 4
Starting RSD mode "

OTA JB and Safestrap 3.11 problem

I recently performed the steps to update my RAZR MAXX (XT-912 CDMA) to the OTA JB update. I had no issues. I obtained Root privileges and installed the most recent version of Safestrap for my phone (3.11). No problems detected. I then booted into Safestrap recovery and created a new ROM slot. Installed Jellycore V1.5 to it as well as Gapps. Booted to that slot and NOTHING. The screen just goes black after the Safestrap screen. So I booted back into Safestrap recovery and tried to restore my backup to that slot...same result. When the phone is rebooted, it goes to the Safestrap screen where you can select continue or recovery. If I continue (by selection or waiting the 10 seconds) the screen just goes black. I left it that way overnight thinking it might take a while but no. I've tried reinstalling Safestrap, different ROMS, and reinstalling ROMS. Any ideas? Because I need my AOKP.

Update...
I can get ROM slot one to successfully install and boot motoblur-98.72.8-XT912.zip.
I cannot get it to boot jellycore v1.5 or CNA v1 or any other non stock ROM. What is going on. Tried Safestrap 3.11 and 3.05.

Trying to install to ROM slot 1. I had this same setup running fine (Jellycore as my daily driver) and never had any problems installing ROMs on Safestrap until I did the Stock update to JB.

I figured it out. When I updated to JB, it updated the kernel as well. I put the new AOKP JB ROM on and no problems. Oversight on my part.

bear with me, i am new to rooting the razr maxx ... i have rooted an htc thunderbolt, 3 gNexs, 2 nexus 7, and 2 galaxy s3s but i am havingw trouble with problem very similar to yours... but with a twist, i cant seem to remember all the the steps i took to produce this problem, as i was rooting my buddies razr maxx over super bowl weeekend and havent picked it up since ..... til now ... but anyways .. i did obtain root and had safestrap 3.11 installed... ok for starters the phone for one will not power on at all unless i plug it into a charger ... and when i do that i see the dual core screen and then it brings up the safestrap diabled screen and gives the option to press the menu button to reboot into recover or press the search button (or wait 10 seconds) to continue... when i press the menu button it goes to the black screen like u said ... when i wait 10 seconds it goes to the black screen and when i press the search button it goes to the black screen ... and then i end up having to use the volume down and power button to power it off (or if i unplug the charger it also powers off) ... when i plug it in again it automattically turns on and goes to the dual core screen and starts the process over ... i am however still able to get in to the boot menu ... and i tried to go into recovery mode that way and now the screen is stuck on the dual core screen with it plugged into the wall charger.... im thinking i have multiple issues ... one battery issue and i must have went wrong somehwere trying to flash a rom ...but wnho knows .. not me lol .... please please help ... we can do a google hangout and try to resolve this issue if you are willling ..... thanks in advance
Try taking it back to stock and starting over. Might be your best bet.

I am also having the issues mentioned in this forum. I rooted the razr maxx, then installed ss 3.11. I tried installing Jellywiz, and cm10.1 and neither worked. I did install the Vzn JB update for my phone before rooting it. Now the phone just does the boot loop and black screen thing. Any ideas?
if you boot to a blank screen and it stays there more than a minute or so after the kexec vibrate, you need to reboot to SafeStrap - switch to stock and boot it (optionally uninstall and reinstall recovery from the SafeStrap app). Then reboot and select your ROM slot and it should boot fine.

Are you wiping cache, dalvik, system, and factory reset after you create the rom slot? I had issues with a few ROMs until I wiped everything before installing a rom to a new slot. Also, you can run into this if you are trying to install a ROM into a ROM slot that had a different ROM installed on it previously. If that is the case just delete the slot and recreate it. (Oh and make sure it is not the stock rom slot that you are deleting, that would not be good) One last thing, some ROMs only work on ROM slot 1.

If you have safestrap installed then your stock ROM is already preserved. Are you trying to revert back to a previous kernel before the JB update?

Yeah.. i just realized that.. now i need to try other jellybean rom that's stable for my phone..

Phone screen won't turn on during boot

I unrooted to stock successfully and then tried to upgrade to verizon .16 and from .08 and I'm guessing that because the boot logo was changed when it was rooted and I didn't change it back that it didn't complete, and now boot animation won't show and screen won't turn on. What should I do? This is urgent

hello
here is a story behind bricking my xt910, so please read the question and give me a valuable reply.
today i rooted my phone and then i installed safestrap latest version and then create slot1 from recovery. i installed cm10 ( latest nightly ) and gapps and jbx karnel (latest nightly ) and rebooted in to cm10.After installing this my splash screen got changed to jbx ( in red colour ) and it was working fine and than after using it for an hour or two i deleted the slot one or cm10 and than selected the stock rom for reboot .
now the problem is my phone is not booting up , neither going into ap fastboot nothing even is coming on screen.
I know how to get into fastboot mode and have tried this method but no hope . so can ya please help me to fix my razr . can ya please give me any solution to fix it . i think its a hard brick done by me .
any feedback will be appreciable
