I'm looking around and I'm curious if I can get a vibrant from tmobile to work on my verizon account somehow. Sorry for the lack of searching but I'm out and about at the moment.
No. Not ever. Sorry. Also post questions in Q&A.
I'm petty sure its impossible. The vibrant is a GSM phone and verizon runs on CDMA.

no. Verizon uses CDMA technology and Vibrant runs on GSM, also ur gonna get flamed cuz its in the wrong section.
No.. that's like trying to say can i install a intel processor on AM3 (AMD) socket. It's two different things and would never ever work.
+ had to join the crowd; wrong section.

The actual answer is yes, but not in the US of A - in Europe Vodafone is Verizon partner and it offers GSM service.

Plus verizon doesn't use sim cards. Why would you want to pay twice as much for phone service and be limited on data?

And have the widget redirected to Bing. I know you can root it and change it and all that but I still think its unfair to the users who aren't rooting. It's just absurd that they restrict things like this.
Also not a huge fan of Verizon's exclusive apps like Skype, NFL, etc. I know you could extract it in APK format and do it like that but it's not healthy to make exclusive apps.

Iam thinking that you can do it, but first you need to unlock your phone.. First you need an activated Tmobile sim card placed into vibrant to go to next steps... Second look into market searching for "samsung unlock" and install and run it..it will give you the unlock code that the phone will ask you when you replace your verizon sim card, so write down all the info... third turn off vibrand and replace tmobile sim with verizon one and boot the phone... Enter the unlock code that you get from step 2 and enjoy your new unlocked phone!!..
I dont try it yet because I dont have the need, but I think that it will help you ...

This post is incorrect. Verizon does not use sim cards. The method posted here will unlock your phone for other GSM service, but since Verizon is not GSM this will not work.
Also, I really am curious since it happens so often, how do people keep posting in development and claiming they are confused about where to post?
I'm not making fun of anyone, this is a serious question. There are two forums: one is labeled Q&A and one is labeled development. How is it possible so many people make this mistake?

Wow. Some of you people clearly should not be flashing anything to your phones.
I have seen some of the worlds stupidest people on a forum with some of the worlds smartest. If you don't know what qna means then put you fing diaper back and go back to first grade. I'm sick of all this non dev chat in the dev section. If you don't know what cdma and what GSM is then Google it. Don't give the I'm to lazy to search excuse cause that's a bunch of bull.
GSM: most of the world, att T-Mobile.
Cdma: Verizon and sprint.
If a phone is cdma it will not work on GSM. And vise versa.
Now stfu noobs and gtfo.

It's so simple. There are two completely different technologies in question here. Cdma which Verizon uses and gsm which t-mobile and at&t use(which is why I-phone works on t-mobile). And to set the record straight about sim cards,I have seen several black berrys with sim cards on Verizon.

Those ones for Verizon that have SIM cards are the world editions of the phones and can go outside of the USA and use a local carrier that uses SIM cards (e.g. Vodaphone). CDMA and GSM are not compatible technologies. You cannot use one type of phone on the other network.
Lol, let the flaming and ranting begin!!!!!

Good luck getting the S3 as a warranty replacement because its not going to happen, the phone hasn't been released no one has one to mess with or anything so as of now it is unknown. If it was rooted I'm sure it would have been posted already all over different forums

Yeah guys/girls at Verizon stores are stupider than my door knob, example went in to the store today to get a 4G LTE sim card for my thunderbolt that's been sitting in my night stand and now my sister wants to use and the lady and guy both working said that not only I needed to bring the device in but now there's a fee for the sim card :what:
I attempted to get the S3 as a replacement and from my understanding the only way it would be possible is if there was a certified like new device available.

Hmmm... I have a cracked screen and was thinking of using my insurance anyways. I wonder if I bring it in brand new and never even been taken out of the box if they would replace it that way? One could argue it's close to being the same phone to someone who doesn't really know the difference

First of all, the phone has already been released in Europe and parts of Asia for some time. Second, a while back somebody leaked the official samsung software rom for the S3, and hackers made quick work of it and had a root method within a day (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s3-rooted-stock-rom-leaked/). If you google "samsung s3 root" you will find lots of pages telling you how to root. Here's one example of such a site: http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/26/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-smartphone/
I know people are saying that you cannot get a S3 as a replacement but in my situation they did give me an early upgrade to a RAZR Maxx. I had to pay 200 for it but I at least got a phone with good signal. I asked about the S3 as an option and the csr said I could if I was willing to wait. I had another upgrade coming so I had already preordered the S3. My wife is getting the RAZR MAXX and she is thrilled.

I think China Telecom may also release it at about the same time, and it will be CDMA.
Its a samsung so 99% Yes, Though give it a few weeks, it'll be up to 100% and then mmmm aokp
from what i've heard all of us in north america (canada, America, will get the exact slab of hardware, Also at&t's source was just released tonight so sit tight maybe by the end of this week its gonna be rooted!)
Here is proof that phones get rooted before release all the time. ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile S3s' all have been rooted before anyone has the phone. I'm sure that Verizon's is just around the corner.

I am wondering if I switch my SIM card from my ATT Note to my Tmob SII if I will have issues? My note will be unlocked tomorrow when I get my phone from Tmob. I only ask because when I get the new phone with tmob sim card and I put it in my note to enter the unlock code will I have to get a new sim card or should I be able to switch between the two freely?
Thanks
You made your question almost unintelligible. However, if understood it correctly, once your phone is unlocked, you may put in almost any gsm sim card in your unlocked phone.
Sent from my GT-N7005 using xda premium
Yes, but the frequencies those carriers use are different. When you put the opposite carrier's sim in the phones you will have voice and SMS like normal, but the data will be restricted to EDGE/2G.
Well I took the step and tried it myself. I can switch my sim card freely between phones. No issues. The frequency stuff I already k we about. I wanted to be sure I would have to get a new sim card each time I wanted to switch phones for a day or something. Answered my own question though thanks dudes.

No. I answered my own. I tried my T-Mobile sim card..my goal was to see if it would fry my sim card going from my T-Mobile sg2 to my unlocked att note. I asked because going from android to iPhone it messed my sim card and I had to get a new one. However in this case I can switj freely between the two phones with no issues.
Side note, get my note back on Monday. Hard bricked it. Sent to mobiletechvideos and had their JTAG service done. Awesome work! I recommend!

I recently got a note 2 in a trade and it seems to be stuck in a display mode . It acts like the phones you try out at the Verizon store. It has a menu showing all the features and will go into the video the phones play at the Verizon store . I tried rooting and installing a custom ROM (jedix) but that didn't help at all. I'm thinking its some kind of file in the phone that if you were to delete it would remedy the problem. The phone also wasnt stolen from the store because I had it activated and it had a clean ESN . Any help at all would be much appreciated . I'm in dire need of a phone lol.

amazing speed i was shock that hd youtube videos dont buffer when playing
i did speed test 1,9 to 2.5 mbs enough for fast loading webpages and watching video i also was able to do skype and ovoo
There shouldn't be much needed in the way of flashing. Root the phone, add in APN data for the prepaid carrier you're using, put in your SIM, and then profit. The phone already works on AT&T and T-Mobile in the US if you have a SIM, you just need to be able to add APN info, which you can't by default.
