Hey guys i've been using my S2 fr a year & a half now . I didn't quite face any issues before but now
after i updated it to the UK Jellybean as it took a lot of time to reach India .
I've got this issue that when i charge my phone & disconnect it , it still shows on charge & gains a lot of heat .
When the device is switched off & charged it restarts on its own & then switches off & starts charging & when needed to ON the phone it has to be connected to the charger , or else it won't start but just show the charging icon ( as it shows when the phone is charged when switched off).
I did a factory reset but all efforts in vain .
Please Help ....
Boot into clockworkmod Recovery , go to Advanced and try wiping the battery Stats. Maybe that could help.
Try another battery in the first instance given how long you've had the phone, also clean the battery contacts on the phone carefully with a cotton bud or similar & isopropyl alcohol. If those two things don't help, could be the USB/charging circuitry on the way out (which is a problem we see on here fairly frequently).

Hi,
I have been monitoring the charging progress while the phone is connected with charger. It seems the phone is not charging and the remaining battery is dropping fast. I have tried with normal charger as well as USB charging but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.
Backup data factory reset .No cure = service centre .

Also the phone gets heats up alot while charging.

I do have the same problem... It happened to me twice right now.. after first appereance i was shocked.. but then it went ok... right now the problem is on again made an screenshot of battery usage where can you see green respresenting charging but the curve of usage went still downin that time...
I'm afraid that I'll have to use warranty..
Hey guys and gals
this is my first post here. although a lot here is about rooted devices with custom ROMs, I hope you can help me out - you sure have a lot of expertise here compared to many other forums.
For the past two days I've been running into some of the weirdest problems with my Galaxy S2. Before i go into detail, here is the summary:
1. Screen time-out doesn't work while device is not plugged to a charger or computer
2. Notification shows 100% charge for a very long time (hours after heavy usage)
3. Not sure if charging actually works
4. Booting up seems to fail when not connected to a charger
it started yesterday when I noticed the phone light up and say it was charging. The problem is it wasn't - it was in my pocket.
Then I noticed that the screen didn't time out. I changed the setting, nothing - it remained on. I could push the power to make the screen turn off and on again but it wouldn't time out itself.
The charging info went away... at some point. I left it to charge over night and in the morning it indeed showed 100% in the notification bar. The problem is it remained 100% for A LONG time. In the settings menu under the battery it says it has been running on batter for 0 secs and showed 100% charge. For hours... There were no info about any apps or function using the battery. that part was clear.
Then i discovered that the screen time out problem goes away while connecting the charger or via USB to a PC. Then it times out. As soon as i unplug the charger it never times out....
I'm actually not sure if the charging works. Indeed it shows charging but sometimes it magically reaches 100% rather quickly.
Because I suspected a battery fault I used another battery. let it drain completely and then tried to recharge. Can't - when booting it shows a battery icon with question mark and then goes to show that the battery is 100% charged. Then the question mark and then 100% again. Seems to be in some sort of loop.
I've done the factory reset, I had a new firmware installed via Odin just in case. The problem still remains.
Booting the device seems to be an issue and only work with charger or USB cable attached. Ot it will be in that "what battery" and "100% charge" cycle...
I've searched high and low today but couldn't find anyone with the same problem.
Have any of you an idea? Really down't want to get a new phone! Seems to be a very bad month going on because a few weeks ago I had really serious issues with my brand new hybrid camera which i have to buy ... again! sold it for parts for pocket money....
Any help would be really appreciated! thanks!
That's really strange....try getting out the battery, charge it to max va an external charger,or borrow a friend's Galaxy S2.Leave the phone withou battery for an hour. Then when you put it in,go to recovery, and "wipe battery stats"(Root it if it's not).See if that works.

How long have you had the phone? The usb flex cable has issues over time. A symptom of this is the charging when not connected to the charger.
If it is this issue the part is cheap (around 5$ I believe).
guys, i have a question,
1. i cant get wifi hotspot to work, but usb shaing works fine
2. charging takes way to long since yesterday, in 1 night from 14% to 43% ,but it charge the battery to100% but slow
i have an rooted sgs3 with siyath kernel
as for wifi, well regular wifi always gave a problem staying connected on both sgs3's i had so i actualy didnt even investigate to slove that , i even disabled psm in 0011 but no changes it acted the same , i just about wifi to on side note, the main problem is charging , dunno if its the battery or the phone ,bcuz chargers do not get hot for charging unlike when i 1st had this phone so i think either the phone dont accept the power or the battery dont want to charge , i also tryed modding charging settings in the kernel via STweaks but same results
need some advice or help with this
Slow charging questions posted many times. Usual fixes are: replace charger and lead, go back to fully stock, replace battery, phone internal charging circuit is faulty.
the issue started when the phn was exposed to a little rain.. started having the issue of over voltage.. i knew that the usb port had become faulty so reading the forums i tried cleaning it with aftershave as i did not have alcohol .. after that turning on my phn it went crazy into car mode and battery was 1 percent. after that it rebooted into download mode . now i have it on charge but it only boots in download mode .. any suggetion ?
Aftershave contains oils which *may* be conductive. You need to thoroughly clean the phone which will probably involve taking it apart.
But before you do any of that.......REMOVE THE BATTERY.....while the phone is powered up with who knows what shorting.....the chances are high that other damage is occurring.......
my wife says I'm a phone geek....
I'd have to agree......

thnx for ur quick reply buddy. well i did take it apart but not all, did remove the battery and did clean it thoroughly after i kept it on charge for about 5 mins and reseted it its now turned on and charging i hope for the best now hope its not a major motherboard short circuit type issue
now after 4 percent of charging it suddenly said battery disconnected and battery health unspecified battery icon started flashing now this is getting weired
Replace the USB board for starters. If that doesn't fix it & you've had the phone for ages, you're probably better off getting another phone rather than replacing motherboards/etc.
well heres an update took the battery out and let the port dry a little and also used a tissue and then plugged the charger and it worked fine till it charged fully and theres no more over voltage issue will update if it continues. Thnx for all ur help guys u know it human nature to get desperate for something they love so much suddenly die
Hello friends ,
My moto E was dropped a bit in water not completely i checked at that moment the device was wokring fine but then too , to avoid risk i packed the device in plastic cover and kept in rice overnight.
But next day the mobile isnt starting. Wen i plugged to usb only the while led on the top right is showing. I tried all the options of power volume combinations..
Can anyone tell if there is any others steps or things to be checked before taking it to service center,, :crying::crying:
If you're sure it has dried up (but it would have been much better to remove the battery... it's just a few Torxes and a connector away), try leaving the charger plugged in for a day or so: I don't know about the Moto E but many phones have "emergency charging", that is the battery is connected directly to +5 with a strong resistor so it can very slowly get to 1% to boot offline charging!
Assuming of course the battery control chip didn't see a short or overdischarge, in which case [this chip] is effectively hard bricked...

OK SIR I will try this and confirm if its working very soon:good:
Ok friends finally my device is back to life.. I just want to share how and what happened..
Firstly I dropped my device in fish tank. So in order to dry up my device i just switched off and kept it in rice for entire whole day. But the only problem was that battery isn't removable. Next day thinking the water must have dried so i tried switching on but nothing working. I tried all the things mentioned everywhere in internet power volume combinations but nothing worked.. I thgt either the display got bad due to water or battery died.. Then i read something about moto devices that if the battery get discharged completely then it enters deep discharge mode.. i did some research here and some other sites.. Finally i found a video of MOTO G device which got deep discharge..
So here what the guy did.. He removed the battery using torx T4 screwdriver which i needed to order bcoz i didnt had it.. once the battery is removed from device wait for 5 mins then connect the charger to device without connecting battery.. Display starts hurray.. now keeping the charger connected connect the battery to device and finally the charging starts.. keep for charging and device is alive..
