I'm using AT&T Prepaid line on a Galaxy Note 2 Verizon (I605). At the beginning, I used it without any problem around a month. Later on, I started to receive all the calls that beginning with +. It's just adding +, not +1. Let's say I'm receiving call from 9721234567. I see that number +9721234567 on the screen. When I try to call back, It's trying to make international call and it says "you don't have enough money on your prepaid account."
I did factory setting and custom rom many times but still same problem going on. I putted my SIM card to my friend's Note 2 AT&T, the problem is solved.
I wish I can switch to Verizon Prepaid since the phone is for Verizon but I couldn't find out how to do that. If any one knows, let me know please, I'll switch right away. Otherwise I have to solve the problem. Does anyone has an idea why it's happen? I did many research about this but I couldn't find anything. Thank you.
So, no body knows anything about it?

Most people here are using Verizon which uses a totally different network than AT&T which is why you're not getting much response.
If the phone is adding "+" to the number, it thinks you are in a different country. So some things to check:
Settings->Date and time
make sure you are showing the correct date and timezone, and getting them from the network if possible
Settings->More Settings->Mobile Networks
(1) make sure Network Mode is GSM/UMTS for AT&T
(2) check Access Point Name and associated APN data is correct for AT&T - this shouldn't affect voice, but you never know
Just some friendly advice. I know you want an answer, but when people see you bumpin your own thread everyday, they tend not to respond.

Ok, so i'm new to this whole android thing and came up on a TB. Sorry for the noobness of this...i did a search, but couldn't find anything relating to my problem. hoping someone could give some advice.
I tried to activate it the other day and it took some time to activate(i guess Verizon's network was down), but the 4g LTE was fully functioning. Phone was recognized on my account at verizon and everything checked out.
however, when i tried to make a phone call, i got the message 'welcome to verizon wireless. your phone number is not active or invalid'. one thing i did notice was the roaming triangle above the signal bars. btw, i did try contacting verizon and they didn't know what was going on..they kept blaming the downed network.
i couldn't get it to work so i had to switch back to my whackberry.
Anyone know what the problem is and how to activate it? any advice would be awesome!
thanks for the help in advance!
Might need a new sim card...

I found this on another forum. It works on my Galaxy note, but not on my wife's Motorola Droid Razr.
So My data went out today for like 4 hours, not surprised as the data outages and what not, but called anyways just to see if maybe it was something else. I must say, I got the best CS Rep I have ever gotten with any company. He spoke better English than I did and I'm an american.
He was VERY knowledgeable and I could tell he wasn't going by script when it came to helping me. He knew what he was doing. He went through the basic trouble shooting things and what not but he also informed me while on the topic of APN settings, that Straight Talk currently has a new MMS Proxy that they have just deployed for their BYOD AT&T and customers using Android devices and that the 66.209.11.33, is not the current one anymore and they are urging customers who call in with data issues, specifically MMS, to change over to the new MMS proxy and that they are updating their systems with new proxies and servers which is why their data systems are a bit crazy right now and that their MMS Proxy is one that has been completely implemented into their system now.
The new MMS proxy is mms2.tracfone.com
I have confirmed, that for the past 2 days with incoming only MMS not working, that this new MMS Proxy does indeed work.
He also said for customers that are having issues with data, that it is HIGHLY recommended that a soft reboot, basically turning the phone off and back on, doesn't properly disconnect your phone from the network and doesn't so a clean re-connection and reset to your account and establishment with the network.
He said to pull the battery out of the device and also remove the sim card. He explained that some phones have a lower power backup source built into the phones, especially higher end ones, that even with the battery removed for a short period of time, this power supply still allows your SIM card ID to remain registered on the network. This same power supply is what allows your phone to keep time and data and you're registration on the network. He said pulling the sim card out completely removes your SIM card connection with the network completely so when you turn your device back on it completely re-registers on the network with a clean refresh. He seemed to be pretty creditable for his knowledge and went on to explain other beyond technical troubleshooting techniques that they try to get you to perform when you call in.
Anyways I figured I might share this with some of you. I wish I could have gotten his direct number so I could just call him with any future problems, as I have never been helped with such quality as he provided.

Hey,
I was playing around with a few Custom ROMS today, and my mobile data stopped working. The APN settings are correct. I have flashed multiple ROMS but no luck. Even stock ICS ROM. I think I have the wrong modem/baseband combination.
My phone show H+ or 3G icon, but as soon as I try to use the internet, it vanishes. Wifi works fine.
Any ideas?
Seems like incorrect apn.. but you already say it's correct..

Yes the APN is correct.
Could someone possibly tell me which firmware I should flash? I purchased my phone from Pakistan, but I'm not sure which region it is for. Will that make a difference?
Something happening with this phone. I had the same issue a few weeks later.
I tryed almost every modem available unsuccessful. Just my local carier can solve. I didn't known what they did, but solved until now.
Although your apn settings may be correct, they may need updating.
This sometimes happes in the uk.
Maybe if you tried deleting the apn settings out and then ringing your carrier network up, and asking them to sent your correct apn settings to your phone, maybe this could help.
Its not a dead cerainty but always got to be worth a shot mate

Had the same issue with my GS3 (I9300) after switching from those Straight Talk Bastards to AT&T:
Whereas Straight Talk simply f*cked up b/c of a collapse of their data network, so I assume (with nobody at ST saying a word for 2 days, of course.. ), it turned out that AT&T actually had deleted my new account - by mistake - after just one week of 'happy browsing'.
A trip to the local AT&T store solved the mystery and got me up & running again.
Unfortunately, though, it took the AT&T folks a while to figure it out, as they are not used to unbranded/international/ unlocked phones wanting to join their US network. (Don't even try to solve this over the phone, if you have a choice).
Kudos to the AT&T staff, though, as they got the problem resolved eventually. It definitely helped a great deal that my phone had been working just fine on their network just a week ago, so I was able to stand my ground and insist that the problem was at their end.
One of the reps - apparently without a clue - tried to tell me all sorts of BS, e.g. that the I9300 would not work on AT&T; that some Samsung phones supposedly don't work with their network... bla bla blub blub...
Fortunately, I knew better and told him so. Otherwise, he may have successfully gotten rid of me; making me search for the problem someplace else (a.k.a. giving me the run-around or making me chase my tail, etc. :banghead: )
Thanks to xda (and the Internet), however, I had all the knowledge necessary to make sure they get it back to work. Now I'm browsing the web again with 7Mbps Down/3Mbps Up speeds, using AT&T's really fast HSPA+ network here in the Chicago Northern Suburbs (close to O'Hare)... Yay!
Good Luck with finding the problem with your data loss issue!!
P.S.: Let me know if you need my APN settings; just for comparison (.. in case you are in the US, too).
Cheers,
AA

So to make a long story short, for the past few weeks I have not been able to send sms. It happened all of a sudden and with no changes to cause it. I can send mms, receive and make calls, but no sms. Took it to Verizon yesterday with the thought in mind that I had a faulty simple card, they tried another one and nothing. Factory reset, nothing. Spent two hours watching them try tthe same things I did. Then they gave up and said to refer to samsung. My question is, is this a software issue? And will rooting and throwing a rom on do the trick? Also is there a root method for after the 4.3 update at the moment?

Check to see if you are on Global or CDMA/LTE/EVDO
settings/more networks/mobile networks/network mode
I was having issues receiving MMS messages and set this from global back CDMA/LTE/EVDo and that fixed it.
Worth a try

Did you try a factory reset???
Hey bud... had the same issue. Over and over for quite some time (since before owning the S4).
Only real fix was to reset the phone (stock, rooted, or custom rom)... only to have it crop up later, again and again.
Last call to VZW and the girl had me swap my SIM and get a new phone, this was while I was on vacation and when I got home, the phone hard bricked on the MJ7 update. So I am not sure what is what and not even sure if it will crop up again. I haven't seen the issue for a few weeks though.
I do have a little, non scientific, theory on this.
Everytime I have had this occur that I can recall, I was traveling from my home. Maybe 100 miles or more. VZW messaging (web) never got any of the messages and the VZW rep can see the messages come into their system and the system believes it is delivering the messages. This also occured with the GNex.
I am assuming that one of two things are going on here.... something is messed up with my provisioning (and your's maybe) or there is an issue with handoffs.
A friend of mine went through the same thing until I did this:
Turn off the radios one by one including: bluetooth, mobile network, and then do airplane mode. Make sure you're on the CDMA/EvDO/LTE settings instead of global. Reboot the phone. Turn off airplane mode, and then turn on your mobile network and give it about a minute. Then try sending SMS.

It is a known Verizon network issue. There is people way above the front line staff working on it. They don't tell the front line staff this because since it's just limited to aosp and they only support stock, unrooted phones they tell people there is no issue. They could send you ten replacements phones and they all will do the same thing. It's not the phone, it's not the AOSP rom, and it's not your sim card. It's a bizzare issue that makes all aosp roms ever made not work in certain areas, mostly central pa but others as well. There is another xda user working directly with the engineers providing me updates. I will let you know when we find out a resolution.
Here is my thread which is for the Note 2 with the same issue. There is also links that others have posted in my thread with the exact same symptoms since 2/20/14.

I got your PM, dont worry about bothering me, if I can help I will.
Unfortunatley, I am not sure I would be of any help. The question you posed in your PM sounds like a bit of a stretch. That doesnt mean it cant be done, but I think it would be a long road to travel.
It does sound as if it is a modem issue, possibly APN.
I know there are several that claim the Blaze modem works like a charm. Sorry I dont have a copy as I dont need.
I would fret too much, as whenever I give advice, someone comes along and corrects me. I might expect someone such as 440bro to come along, who seems to have every file in existance along with solid advice. Or a slight chance maybe that Sashusmom would drop in, who is a modem goddess. She is a master at the modem.
Good luck my friend, stick with it.

Just weighing in to try help rule out the obvious when the phone connects after a phone reflash does all telephoney functions work correctly? Calls texts and data?
Does the simcard carrier run on a compatible frequency for this model of phone in your area?
Since you have performed the unlock does any other simcards show the same issues?
I assume that while it is in its "unregistering" state you cannot receive calls?

The SIM carrier does work on a compatible frequency. I've had it fully connected before a few times.
My girlfriend's SIM did act the same way but I'll try it again.
The SIM won't register so no I can't interact with the network in any way.
