S1bootdriver installer for flashing your phone

Hi,
In case anyone (like me) has issues installing the S1boot driver for your xperia, to be able to flash other firmware, here is the link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=718060&d=1315877046
This driver will install itself after you run the executable file dpinst.exe after having extracted the archive.
With the driver you can use the flash tool (combined with your phone booted in flash mode (volume down + usb connect)) to flash other firmware on the phone.
P.S. i'm not talking about fastboot mode, but "flash mode" ;-)

i dont think you have to unlock the bootloader to flash your phone, you have to enable usb debugging in your phone ,settings>applications>development>usb debugging
pls correct me if im wrong
Hi,
As far as I know you "have" to unlock the bootloader before being able to flash custom firmware on the Phone.
I unlocked the bootloader via the sonyericsson site link :
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
I use 4pda.ru firmware+kernel from this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424121
Reason I dont use CM or MIUI is that I need a 100% functional phone (both corporate and private usage, that's why) . I encourage the development on CM and MIUI, don't get me wrong here
You can find more information about unlocking, rooting and flashing custom kernels and firmware on this XDA forum.

how about flashing through CWM recovery like the previous xperia? is it any different? because before the msm7227 and qsd8250 bootloader been unlocked, people use CWM recovery to flash rite?

You can setup CWM and flash ROM on unlocked device, but you can't flash kernel and baseband.
So current situation is: you can't flash CM or MIUI (which requires their own kernels) on unlocked device, but you can flash stock-based mods like repack4pda (which works with stock kernels).

I think that cm9.1 only works with unlocked bl because u need to flash kernel

First of all:
You can't install cyanogenmod on a locked bootloader. You have to unlock it, because it works only on it's custom kernel.
The getprop error has nothing to do with this, but you don't need to know how to solve, because you can't install...
Look in development section for a rom for locked bootloader and maybe check out my signature how to install a custom rom (the guide is about locked bootloader, too)
success

Yes, like daydu19 said, only for unlocked bootloader, but you can't expect it for the sk17i with locked, because for that there has to be a sony jelly bean rom for a device with an armv7 processor. Just wait - maybe there will be a jelly bean rom for locked bootloader one time

[Q] [help]want to know

guys i want to know that if i had unlocked my BL properly or not. I have sony xperia GB 2.3.7 , i thought i had unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone installed CMW, and first Installed official ICS through CMW, after that i had lost my CMW and Root. So i checked xda forum and I rooted the device again and installed CMW again and again once i installed ICS Pure Blood Rom V1, and now again my Root and CMW is gone, i have rooted my device once again but i haven't installed CMW, is it true that my BL is not unlocked and CMW and Root Gone by installing Custom Firmware? because i had read somewhare in Pure blood rom v1 forum that if the BL is not Unlocked then after installing Pure Blood Rom v1, the CMW will be gone? is it true? if then how to know that my BootLoader is unlocked or not? I have to test more roms but after installing the ROM every CMW will be gone and again i have to install it. Suggest me my frendz....

In the call number type *#*#7378423#*#* then service info then configuration see rooting status at the bottom and if it say bootloader unlock allowed:yes, it mean your bl is locked but if it shows bootloader unlocked:yes, it mean your bl is unlocked!

If you are on stock Sony rom than call service menu and check your rooting status.

AW: [Q] Unlocking BootLoder Failed Xperia neo
Than you are allowed to unlock your boot loader. This doesn't mean that it is already unlocked.
I unlocked my boot loader via test point and rooting status still says unlocked allowed.
Best way to test is flashing a custom kernel.
Choose a kernel compatible to your current android version. ICS kernel for ICS android and GB kernel for GB android.
Take a look at the stickys. You will find a description how to flash a kernel and which kernel is for which android version.
Good luck.

Thank u very much. I am now on 4.0.2.A.0.62 rm and I am going to old 4.0.2.....42 to unlock bootloder and root. Will it done the trick for me?
is karnel included in rom (.ftf)?
I am new here. So please excuse my false and poor english
Whatever motorazr said is absolutely correct.. just flash a custom kernel and if it gets flashed that means your bootloader is unlocked.. If it dosnt then unlock your bootloader officially.. Its given on sony's side about unlocking.. Check it..
And if you are flashing .ftf file it will change your firmware totally.. Custom kernel is different.. Stock. Ftf files are different.. Go to sticky thread in neo v development section, for tutorial about flashing kernel..
Hope this meets your need..

If you really flashed night elf kernel than your boot loader is unlocked!
What program did you use, flash tool?
Give us a log cat from kernel flash that we can take a look. Or make a screenshot from your phone settings showing android version and kernel version.
Look at my screeny.
No need to root your phone with doomlords method. Almost every custom kernel comes prerooted and has build in cwm. Just flashing a custom kernel and you have got superuser access and cwm.
You can try cm10 with your unlocked bootloader. Just flash a compatible kernel and install rom via cwm.

I think your Bootloader is not unlocked...
Please unlock it first...either with official or unofficial way...

Yes your boot loader is unlocked!
Did you do it yourself?
Anyway your phone is free! You can try anything you want!
For cm10, download latest nightly for your phone. Haida for neo v and hallon for neo. The download contains a jb kernel for your phone. Flash it. After that enter cwm and install the rom. Last step is flashing Google apps for jb via cwm. After all that you are done and can enjoy android 4.1.2.

Just to clear something out I tell you my personal story.
I had a live with walkman which I unlocked official. The rooting status in service menu changed from boot loader unlock allowed: yes to boot loader unlocked.
Actually I have got a neo v. I unlocked the boot loader via test point. Guess what happened? Rooting status in service menu still says boot loader unlock allowed: yes.
At the moment I haven't got a stock rom installed so I can't take a screen. I have posted some earlier, I will search for it and post it here again.
I don't know if it is possible to edited a kernels name easily. The screen he provided shows that his current kernel is named night elf.
Stock kernels are named different, I don't remember correct but wasn't it something like performance?
Best way to prove us is to provide a flash tool log cat showing a successfully kernel flash.
Again I ask the op: have you unlocked your phone yourself and which method did you use?
Or have you bought the phone second hand and somebody had unlocked it already?

Well you've a point there mate
I think in that case,he unlocked unofficially ie by Testpoint method!
I thought he used official method
