Hi guys,
I am new in this. I have downloaded all the files that bizcuite mentions (I think). One of my questions is, is the zlmage file the same as the kernel file. If not where can I download the kernel?
When I try to install the zlmage the archos says that it couldn't find any zlmage, while I have put in on the internal sd card. Also I get the question to put in the last disk because it is a zip file.
I hope someboy can help me. I have been reading as much as I could find in this forum, but it won't work.
Thank you.
Regards,
Nino
I bet you didnt reach as much as you could. zImage is the kernel file and it has to be renamed from "zImageBLABLABLA.zip" to "zImage" without extension or something else like a date of the build etc. You have to put it inside the recovery not inside the SD card.

Thanks for your reply. I think this is what I am doing wrong.
What do you think is better on the Archos 101 G8, Urukdroid or ICS based on CM.
Thanks again

Hi guys,
I have downloaded all the files as mentioned in the manual. Have installed the zlmage and initramfs.
Then I have put on the root of the internal sd card the image of ICS and renamed it, copied also the ICS 512 mb(data.img.tar.gz) file and have made the .lst file. (all done through the update firmware menu)
Still I think I am doing something wrong because when I go out (push the on button as confirmation to update) of the update firmware menu it gives me a failed to update firmware message.
Hope you can help me.
Sorry for my ignorance.
Thank you.

Check out this RAM Optimising Script.
I flashed this script and now my phone is a lot smoother. All the little things such as opening/closing keyboard, scrolling and switching between open apps is faster.Tested with Xgin 5.3
To use this script
1.You will need to have cwm recovery-available with minicm and xgin with dual recovery mode(afaik)
2.Download Juwe_RAM_Script-CWM.zip from last post of this page.
3.Flash in cwm recovery
Post your experience in this thread
Devs if you and everyone experiences better results, you should include this in roms
Could u create with xrecovery too? For kuyo rom

after i flash at cwm,how can i know does it works ?
anyway to check ?
i've tested it..nothing change...i dont see any difference..tried in xgin5.3
Sorry but i don't know how.
If devs find these useful, they might include this in their roms.
If you went to link the you can try the second method mentioned there.
Unpack Juwe_RAM_Script.zip ,copy the file into /system/etc/init.d/ using rootexplorer or like and restart. That should do it.
Just tested and can't see any changes really and quadrant score didn't change it just went from 1063 to 1065 :/

Look to /system/etc/init.d/ if there is file named S97ramscript
I think that there is wrong mountpoint in updater-script (X8 has different mountpoints)
Strange,it definitely helped me.
Keep an eye out ,try apps which used to lag before.

Right I manually installed it. Not really convinced it does a lot. Quadrant score went from 1065 to 1079. Not really a big enough difference to confirm that it works but it doesn't slow it down so you might as well flash :L

I read somewhere that more memory is bad on an Android system. I mean they wrote that if you have low memory free, then the android cached what you will need = faster system. Am I right or wrong?

Hi all. I have been through the AOSP website and built a basic rom, but I can't find it.
Sorry this is such a basic point - and related to another site - but can anyone point me to the output from the build process. I initiated the build with lunch and then used make to, er, make it, but can't find what I've made.
Thanks
Edit: am I right in thinking the output is a .zip file? If so, think it has failed because there's no .zip anywhere

I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WORK AROUND SOME FEW THINGS TO HAVE THE BLUETOOTH FIXED ON THE ORIGINAL JACPOTCALVIN CM9 BASED ROM .
CURRENTLY AM USING THE ENTHROPY512'S KERNEL AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING
SMOOTHLY.
PLEASE YOUR DEVICE HAVE TO BE ROOT. FOR INSTRUCTIONS CHECK THE DEVELOPMENT FORUM.
AND PLACE THE ZIP FILE INTO INTERNAL STORAGE AND NAVIGATE TO INSTALL FROM SD CARD( THAT IS AFTER BOOTING INTO CWM BY HOLDING THE POWER+VOL UP AND RELEASE POWER AS SOON AS THE SAMSUNG LOGO APPEARS)
2.PLEASE DO A BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE AT CWM. ALSO IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOSE INSTALLED APPS, JUST BOOT IN CWM AND INSTALL THE ZIP FILE WITHOUT WIPING CACHE AND RESTORING TO FACTORY SETTINGS.
THANKS TO JACKPOTCALVIN AND ENTROPY512 AND ALL THE GREAT DEVELOPERS WE HAVE HERE. THANK YOU.
AND I WELCOME ANY IMPROVEMENT THAT CAN BE DONE
ENJOY.
Way to get Bluetooth fixed!! This should be in development section not general!! Some people have been looking or a Bluetooth fix for ICS! Nice work!
Wow, just Wow.
Gonna try it tonight and report back.
Bluetooth is actually what was holding me back from using any ICS ROM as my daily driver, I couldn't care less about the camera, is crappy anyway.

EDIT: The TAR File is Entropy's Daily Driver Kernel.

I have PM you and supermaster34.
Whats new in the version called display density?
If its a modification to this rom, it should be posted here, not in a separate post as it will confuse people
If you've only changed the display density then its not really an update as you can do this with many apps from Google Play. If you have changed other things too then please ignore this post (I'm going to test it once it downloads)
Please upload your roms to mediafire or somewhere else with fast downloads as deposit files have the slowest downloads ever
Out of curiosity, can I just simply download Entropy's kernel from his thread, and just flash that? Or is this a modified version for CM9?

Hi
Now it finally works - I mean the download android_tg01_1.7z
And I also managed to download a second file android_tg01_3.rar

Now android starts on my TG01
Android 2.2.1 Kernel 2.6.32.15
But nevertheless the wifi don´t work - and that is what I am looking for.

Usually whatever is on git it's source code.

WLAN don´t work with android
I quit my attempt for TG01 and android wifi.
Markinus, who is AFAIK the expert, mention 25th September 2011, that WLAN an BT don´t work.
And his last entry in GITORIOUS was September 17 2011.
So I don´t think Android and wifi work on the TG01.
In Android wifi is part of the kernel, and has a driver and a firmware IIRC, so thats triple the porting.

Once I'm done with that, imma build my own Android.

I have an older version on my 101 Gen8 that has massive problems with the number of app due to 256MB limitation, even more than stock fw. Do I understand the gen8_data.img.tar.bz2 - file right as being an easy way to lift app-filespace to 1GB?
Also from the description it sounds promising that this version seems to have included the partial UBS-failure-fix from the newest stock fw.
Any input on these issues anyone?

openaos.org is down due to hardware problems. The owner is waiting for new parts to arive. I will ask him when he expects it will be up and running again.
gen8_data.img.tar.bz2 will only increase data storage for gingerbread (CM7) not for the original firmware.
It will fix usb host when booting into stock android from openaos multiboot menu, you will need to flash the kernel which comes with the download.
USB host, slave and mounting the sdcard (not internal storage) on your pc will work on the next CM7 release Crow.

Though the booter is kind of messed up, I once chose the shortest wait-time by accident and now it won't let me go back to a humanly usable value... I hope to fix that by installing this freshly...
Not sure if there is a manual anywhere, but on my A70S I have to hold Vol- down whilst powering on, you then get a mini menu from which you can get to the recovery menu -> developer edition menu.
