[Q] xperia p camera swap - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hey guys.. Im wondering if we could swap xperia p camera lens with xperia neo lens? As i know, it has exactly same camera sensor but i dont want to swap whole camera module.. Just it lens assembly.. Because i noticed xperia neo got a bigger lens and better in lowlight condition and it comes to my conclusion that same camera sensor with bigger lens (or aperture?) will let more light to get through.. What do u guys think? Swap only the lens assembly (without the sensor) from xperia neo to xp?

Wouldn't risk it unless you really know what you're doing

[Q] Sony's Exmor R for Xperia x10

Hi,
since we already got Bravia Engine, xLoud, DLNA. is it possible if we add Sony Exmor R into x10? i sometimes take pictures at night club, even with light on and Bravia Engine by Z, the picture still not satisfying.
Uhh...
Pretty sure the Exmor R Sensor on the Arc is a physical hardware sensor on the phone...
No dice.

What if we tear an Arc up, detach the lens and attach them on the X10?

No need, just steal them from arc's ROM.
Ya,we can do that,i think
or we make imaginary sensor controlled by software...
just like zoom (real camera using hardware where lense moving in and out but phone just using software)
crazy isnt it?

Taking pictures: its more to do with the photographer then the camera. I bet if you give me an extreme low end camera I can still get a decent picture from it.
Dont use auto focus in such low light such as a club...use infinity.....if you dont keep steady when you press that shutter button your gonna end up with a blurry picture because under low light your shutter speed will be to slow. The flash on the X10 sucks and isnt anywhere close enough to compensate for the slow shutter speed. Ive taken pictures in clubs with this exact phone...by resting my elbows on a table to help keep as steady as possible my pictures have been really good considering.
Exmore r is hardware sony uses (sensor) even in the mid-high end point & shoots....therefore cannot be used on our X10.

Glad to see there is one person at least here that knows the fundamentals of photography and possibly even more.
Someone has to read some things about taking night pictures the importance of existing light and how exactly your shutter behaves when you are in night capture mode rather than requesting better hardware thinking that he's asking about software or some kind of MOD (aka Exmore R).
hey guys this is a spoof thread here about x10 cam, i though i could get some for my cam but figure out that i my end up getting an app or widget of a sensor heheheeh and that will make my cam to work at night heheheeh

[Q] Camera quality of new Neo V compairing to Neo

Hello all! I am really wondering about the camera quality of the new Neo V comparing to the normal Neo. As far as I understood, the Neo V has 5 MP while the Neo has 8 MP. Well 5 or 8 I don't care or contrary if the qaulity of the 5 MP is very good, no need for 8 MP.
Unfortunately it seams that nobody thinks it is necessary to make a test. Often in the specs, which are obviously copied from the Neo, they are mentioning wrongly 8 MP.
If somebody could tell me his experience or drive me to a review It would be highly appreciated!
I would buy the normal Neo but it is for my girlfriend and she insist on a white phone. The Neo in white would be perfect but I guess this does not exist?!

I think it has the same 5mp sensor as the Xperia Mini (pro), so I maybe you should search for reviews of those phones.
But the quality of xperia mini pro is very poor xD
Cam pix quality is not good here...lots of noise in pix
Sent from my MT15i using XDA App
neo v(5mp) camera cannot be compared to NEO(8mp) but i am pretty sure that it is better than MINI PRO
Xperia Neo camera is very good. The picture quality is very nice. About the sensor of the camera, it could be better of course.
Anyway, the problem of most cameras even the 2-3-5 Mpix ones is the compression of the saved picture. The Xperia Neo compression of *.jpeg is quite high, the pictures are less than 1MB in 8Mpix mode. If you use a better app for the camera (like 360camera) you will see the real quality of the camera, never mind the 8Mpix.
Thanks for the feed back. So I guess the photo quality is not really amazing.
Is there any chance to get the normal Neo in white??

buy a Neo and then buy a white housing like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Ho...15i-Xperia-Neo-L-/310322539361#ht_1061wt_1037

I head this idea as well, you think that that the housing is compatible? Can somebody confirm this? Thank you!
Why not just get a Silver Neo? Close enough to white and imho the best look for the Neo.
With the normal neo, you only can zoom in with 6mp, so it it isn't that big of a difference
silver color is the best for neo & neo v , it looks highlighted around the dark black screen
Based on the mode you select the configuration of the pixel is decided on neo , it is changed to 5mp for some of the modes

Buying Neo v

Hi,
I am coming from Xperia X10i, and I am planning to buy neo v, just want to know how is it "in call volume" quality, I know its specs are same are Neo and Arc except Camera and Screen, beside that, how is it in general use comparing it with X10i.
Thank you
Xahid
Finally I bought Neo V, and I really like it, the build quality is great, sound is really impressive as compared to X10i, time to play
Thanks everyone who reply
One more member in your Neo V community
If you get money at your disposal then buy the Arc or Arc S
~Amazing Phones
Or else buy the Neo as it has a 8Mp camera and a sensor that the Neo V lacks
Thanks for the reply, but doesn't help !
The in call volume is pretty decent on my Neo V
On comparing the Neo V to X10
The Neo V is a win win
512Mb ram as to 320Mb of X10
HD video recording
Although the screen size of X10 is larger
Now, Thanks for the Answer.
Cheers
I don't have anything to really compare it too since it's my first smartphone (by the new definition of smartphone) but the Neo's reception and call clarity are great.
I'd get an original Arc, it's only €50 more expensive than the Neo, and it's thinner and it has a bigger screen. Or wait till January, maybe they will present a successor,
I only had the X10i for a few weeks before it bricked, but IMO the only downside of the neo is that it has a smaller screen. However, it is much easier to grip than the X10i even with a large hand.
The Arc/Arc S is thinner, but you lose the front camera and the face has a tendency to develop cracks. Of course, the neo V has a smaller camera, but it shouldn't be too bad at taking pictures.
hello! my friend bought xperia arc yesterday and i just updated it now to the latest firmware (2.3.4) and yes it does have sweep panorama function now.
I'm not really impressed with the form of the xperia arc, yes it has a big screen, but i'm having trouble holding the phone it's too big for me and it's not the type of phone that you can comfortably put inside your pocket.
I am also planning to buy xperia neo but with neo v around, it is so confusing.
One thing is for sure neo v is cheaper. But i like the red color of neo! SDCard is not an issue to me.
My only question is:
Does 3 mega pixels really make a difference?
.... sorry to hi-jack the thread! peace!

Try and make a photo with tour friends phone, and look for someone with a 5MP camera phone and see for yourself.
SGS (5MP) vs. SGSII (8MP)
here they compare the Arc's (similar) camera to the HTC Desire Z
It's not just the MP difference. The neo has a Exmor R sensor, which allows for better low-light shots.
The Neo V is just Sony's way of making more people buy their flag ship model (The Arc/S) they screwed up when they released the Neo because it was soooo close to the Arc in Specs with the advantage of the front camera many people decided to buy the cheaper Neo instead for that extra feature alone.. the quick fix was to release a new Arc (the S with a slightly more powerful processor) and the Neo V with a 5MP non exmor-R sensor.. SE is trying to phaze out the Neo and pretend it never existed.. in a lot of countries only the Neo V is available now.
I bought the Neo because of the size, the 8mp Exmor-R Sensor, the front camera (for skype video calling) USB OTG (Thumb drives and usb keyboards etc) and HDMI (for playing angry birds on a 42" screen with a mouse!) I wouldn't buy a Neo V (Crap camera) and I wouldn't buy an Arc or Arc S (no front camera) even the new Ray is missing HDMI.. i don't know what sony is thinking.. but the Neo was the only phone they make with everything you could need... and now it is pretty much gone, glad I got mine when I did... just hope they continue to support it

But that's at least €50 more expensive, and thicker and heavier.
But it has everything you could want aside from dual core processing power. HDMI, check, 8MP Exmor R sensor, check, hardware shutter, check, hardware qwerty, check, front cam, check. It's as close as a phone currently comes to being the best of all worlds. Not having to compromise is worth the premium and slightly increased size and weight in my book.
GSMArena tested the Neo V, also it's camera.
And the Neo too. You could compare them there.

Camera Focus on Xperia Sola.

Don't know if this problem is asked before, but its really bad with the camera when it comes to focusing in ICS...
was far better with GB...!!!
But recently i tried on Xperia Acro S, which also had ICS, but it doesn't have a hint of this issue, the camera just focuses
right away even in low light and the image is stunning sharp.
I know its a 12MP, but still whats holding the focus, i don't understand....!!!
Please if anybody out there can find a better solution to this...
Also in another way. is it possible to port the camera app from GB to ICS..??
the xperia sola's camera performs like s*** especially in low light, i haven't experienced that while using cm9 though.
I agree, GB was quite good with the camera.
That's not the case with ICS though, before .54 it was even worse as it couldnt even take the pic when it turned on the led and it took it half a second later.
With .54 now, it's much better but camera app lags like hell and sometimes it reboots.
poor night vision!
same is the case with my sxu...day photographs are really good..but night pics are really bad...night mode seems to be of no use and flash is too bright!
So is it possible to port the camera app from GB to ICS..?? anyone..????

I dont think so, they are different systems but may be devs will tell.
i have too
i have the same problem.. After ICS, camera focus speed is very very bad in the weak light areas, how can we fix it?

BUMP seems like a problem of all devices form the 2012 lineup
It's more than a software provlem, I think. Maybe the ICS cam driver has been written badly.

i tryed Cyber-Shot Mod and all things, many xperia sola ICS roms, kernels and i cant solve it
Guys, all of you missing a point. If you are using even standard camera not phone cam, might be a problem to focus in low light. Its caused by sensor sensitivity. Its very small, doesnt matter how much megapixels or how big iso. Sensitivity is only one and iso gets higher with software. All you need is contrast. Try a small test, get low light and try focus into complete dark, you will not get focus, even with DSLR you get nothing. But find a spot where dark gets lighter and try focus, you will get something.
Most cameras these days are using small light to get a bit of light into darkness, if you have this function, use it and you will get better low light focusing.
Its not a bug, its a physics.
EDIT: sola doesnt have this functionality. But you can still focus in spot where is high contrast e.g. light dark place in actual pic. Or use flashlight to get some light. And you canask rizal, cyber shot creator, to add this functionality into cyber shot mod.
