Hey guys, I feel really stupid, but I cannot figure this out. Is there away to quick access gnow using the captivate keys in the AOKP ROM in the development forms? I know I can do it from the onscreen keys, but is there away to do it say like how the stock lg ROM had it in the recent apps menu. Once again thanks for the help guys I feel stupid that I can't figure this out.

Howdy all!
Has anyone noticed that the "Double Tap Home" button resets itself? I changed mine to be the dialer, and after a few days it resets to Voice Dial.
I'm curious if anyone has run into it and possibly solved this problem.
Are you running a custom ROM or Motorola firmware?

I had the same problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010892
although I never got anywhere. After a while I think it stuck. I have no idea what caused it to revert back...

That could be the reason. Have you tried custom ROMS instead? If you need help with the boot loader unlocking, rooting process, let me know because I can help.

I haven't ventured into the realm of custom ROMs yet. Definitely an area that I want to get into (I was an avid blackberry beta tester before I jumped ship).
Can you answer a few questions perhaps?
1. Will flashing a new ROM cause me to lose all my user data?
2. What ROM do you recommend? I actually like the look of the stock .91 ROM, and I use ADW Launcher. I'm not really into the CG7 look with everything being bluish. I guess with ROMs, I just don't have a good enough understanding.
For the first question, yes you will lose stock data. But if you have gmail, contacts, paid apps, and calendar will be saved. But its totally worth it. The rom I recommend right now is the ALIEN ROM. Which is a nice one. If you want to to start, let me know and I will give you a guide that helped me.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I am already rooted and unlocked.
I thought what you were going to provide was the latest ALIEN rom link and screenshots (as well as the way to apply the rom - fastboot, cwm, etc.)

Double-tap home got too annoying for me.
I ended up freezing the default voice command feature in TiBu, and don't have to worry about it anymore...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186537
Here is the alien ROM LINK
Sorry for the late response.
Ok! Well, all that was easier than I thought. This is amazingly fast. So far I haven't found any glitches, everything works the same for me. I've rebooted several times and the home button hasn't reset, so thats a good sign.
One thing I did notice is that I now only have one APN listed, and I think before I had several.
I didn't install the bloatware, but BLUR seems to work fine.
One thing I will say is that installing 200 apps by hand from the market SUCKED. I used a Titanium Backup and then used the market link from there.
Also thought that I should mention that this did *NOT* fix my "double tap" home button issue.
After some amount of time the home button defaults to voice commands, which is useless to me. Taking another suggestion above and freezing the app with TiBackupPro.
Oh well. Maybe Beta #4 will fix the issue.

So I searched the forum and haven't, yet, run across any topics revealing my question, so here it is. With all this modding going on, is there any way or possibility to be able to make the thunderbolt have a native screenshot with hardware keys? Such as, pressing "search" and "power" at the same time and holding to take a screenshot?
Sent From Under A Ghillie Suit
Most newer ROMs have it. Press and hold Power, then press Home.
Can it be incorporated to a stock rooted Rom?

They also have apps in the market to take screen shots, just as easy. I used screenshot ux.
Thats so cool!....I did not know that was even possible....I gotta look more into this.
Just for kicks, I think it would be cool to have an optional soft key mod; I know AOKP has the option to turn them on or off. If anybody is interested, I could look into porting them over. I'm no dev but I have Eclipse, all of the SDK stuff, and Photoshop; so I'm decently equipped. All I need is a little guidance :b.

There us a way to go into tablet mode and it has the on screen keys. But you would have to search around its in the themes forms.

From what I can tell the images for the softkeys would be in the systemui
if you set your dpi to around 160 or so you should be able to get tablet ui on your phone but with some Fc's on certain apps so those have to be replaced with market replacements
Soft keys like this?

I have the knowledge to do it just never had the time to. I think I looked a few times but there was an obstacle which might have been specific to our device. next time I have hours to kill I'll look at it again
Cool ill look into it, thanks guys.

it doesn't require much dev knowledge. if you know how to decompile and build, edit xmls and smali, basis photo skills it's rather easy
Time to learn how to code XD. I the SDK and eclipse on my computer, so I'll spend the night learning as much as I can.

Just tried this. Doesn't work. Editing bools and strings in xml doesn't seem to work at all with this device. At least not without some extra work. Probably because of sense.
why?
why would you want on screen soft keys? it just seems kind of redundant to have the actual buttons and the on screen soft keys

As a friend with a Gnex told me. It's nice to always have the soft keys in the same place relative to the screen no matter which way you turn the phone.

well, the widget isn't what I mean
is it in the main menu... I don't see it
in the galaxy ace, main menu, power menu
in HTC Sensation, same as ACE,.... the battery icon???
here in the Razr, I don't see it anywhere...
and I don't like the smart actions... it's all that we got???
once again, thanks for the assistance
I found a thread somewhere in I think and Evo thread or something that had files to disable the captive buttons and use On-screen buttons.
But I can't find it now.. and I kinda wanted to know if that would work on the Amaze?
Thanks in advance yo'

So far aokp is the only rom that allows that, that I know of. I'll be honest though, I takes too much screen space, even at 36dpi.
