Hi guys. I think I have a serious problem with my Xperia U (on rooted 6.1.1.B.1.54).
Yesterday I accidentally removed downloadprovider.apk and downloadproviderUI.apk ... and I couldn't use googleplay anymore...
So I tried to get these apps in the folder again.. but they weren't "installed"
And I accidentally changed my system/app folder's permissions to something bad. I had to remove the battery but now the phone does not start.
There is a logo loop... What can I do? :crying:

You'll need to reflash the stock firmware, so give the first link in my sig a read then go to your devices section for device specific info.
I know how to flash my device with flashtool... Do i need to read your thread?
So will it works? I mean just flashing my device again with flashtool?
And is there any chance to save my phone's content?probably not I quess..
good, it worked..
but I messed up something and I can't root my phone now :|

Greetings to all the team at XDA-Developers.
I hope some of you can help me ..
It turns out that I wanted to manually modify the framework-res.apk my X10i, 2.1, root. All through the Root Explorer, and had read some tutorials, and it seemed easy.
So I support the original framework-res.apk, and proceeded to change the permissions of the new framework-res.apk, as the original.
Then move it to the folder / framework-res and Saio me a message asking permission to replace the old file with the new.
After the copying process, the phone restarts, I thought it was normal, but after the start, no boot.
Comes the announcement of Sony Ericsson, then starts the animation on but not completed, it then restarts.
I wanted to restore the original framework-res.apk but not select the mode debbug.
I can do ...??
Please I need your help soon
If you don't have xRecovery installed you'll need to reflash.

Ok, I flashed and
Now turns, but I have no signal......
EDIT:
Ok, it´s all right....
The bad thing is that I play again to reinstall all applications, and return to make adjustments.
But the good news is that caught
Moral: Do not make adjustments without prior notice support and
Another good thing is that I had updated as recently went to 2.1, I was in X10i,
Now I came back to take X10A .....
Thanks

hi folks..
i recently chekced into my neo v settings to find that the option for Software update (settings>About phone>Software Update) is not there... :O
upon some research i found that it's cuz i deleted some apks, i think the one concerned with s/w updates is dmclient.apk or maybe ssome other..
btw im on night-elf kernel based on a stock based .62 rom.. cant recall the name... i was wondering if i can resstore the option somehow..
thnx in anticipation..
restore UpdateService.apk
go to development section to find thread where you can get that app.
thanx alot man.. i found the files and this is wat happened..
first i copied it into /system/apps
rebooted.
nothing hpnd
the apk file also wasnt there
tried again and this time opened the apk file.
app installed and shows in the app drawer, but not in settings..
copied the apk to /system/apps again
stil the option dint show up..
however i think the problem is at least partially solved..
i was wondering how i will go about updating it to ICS as its about to be out soon..
copy apk to system/app set permissions to rw,r,r and restart phone.

Why don't you use pc companion to update? I freezed update center with titanium backup to remove notifications about 0.62fw update, but pc companion shows it that 0.62 is available.Using pc companion to update is lot better than on air update app

Software update consume much memory and battery, just remove it and using Sony companation.
Sent from my MT15i using XDA
1. im on .62 fw but when i connect it to pc, the pc companion still says, new fw .62 avlbl.. it got me confused.. so i thght of tryin it with phone's update centre..
2. bro i make sure i do my research work before buggin you folks.. ex, whn madfysh told me to change permissions, i really dint know how to do it. but i found it from googlin etc.. tried 3 different file managers, to finally get it done.. and im having fe more isssues, which im tryina to find out , but if i dont find in sometime, i myt ask on xda again..
but yeah i owe u folks many thanks
For most of regions either 0.42 or 0.62 is the latest fw
thats wat im saying,
im on .62,,, but upon connectin the phone to pc companion , it still says new update available, .62..
thats stupid i think
lol
UpdateService.apk can be removed safely as Sony said that ICS wont be rolling as OTA update, PC companion / Bridge only.

How did u updated to 0.62 fw? pc companion or the zip file posted by thedroidboy in dev section ? also what is your base band ?
same happened to me once when I updated to 0.62 fw using that zip and baseband was 56,but that happened only once.Besides I don't think this is a big problem for you right? if pc companion notification annoys you that much close pc companion
updated through the zip file.. the pre rooted one..
base band is 56 i guess.. it ends with -56
and its not a prob at all.. doesnt annoy me.. but anyway as the ICS wont be OTA the issue is solved.. now juss hoping that there no more delays..
I accidentally deleted phone.apk and phone.odex located in /system/app following circumstances that I won't explore here, and because of this, I no longer have mobile data connectivity. Now, I did offload phone.apk onto an external SD card before this happened, but phone.odex was lost, and now I need it back. Attempts at installing Phone.apk always end up failing with a message simply stating that Application was not installed, and trying to use adb to install it returned error [INSTALL_FAILED_DEXOPT]. I used the search engine to look for similar questions, but they all involve some sort of a custom ROM. The tablet is rooted and running stock ICS 4.0.3 (no custom ROMS for this device yet, as far as I'm aware). Is there any way to acquire the missing .odex file other than requesting someone with the same device to upload it here?

No, man. The only way to get proper .ODEX, is get it from from original firmware. I recommend you to request both phone.apk and phone.ODEX, to 100% avoiding version mismatch.
here is phone apk & phone odex apk :good::good::laugh:

I had v10e stock. Worked good.
Then rooted to 10a and updated with a cwm backup 10h.
And gps didnt work.... not that i use it alot but yeah sucks.... something i need it.
So cwm backups arent that great. Is cool but yeah. Costum roms are better. Still waiting for one.
Re: why gps doesnr work? just keep on searching..
Maybe the app you are using is the problem. Remove it, reboot then reinstall.
If this didn't solve it, do a reset. This will solve all your problems but before doubt this, user the stock backup app to backup your settings, sms and calls, home screen widgets, pre installed apps to sd card. but don't backup your downloaded apps.

So you are still using ics. Can you please extract the power control widget .apk from your rom? And send it to me? I lost it. Together with the .odex file.
If your can of course.
Off topic.

Thanks a lot friend, but it's not working, i don't know why.
/system/apps/bootup changed permissions and reboot = not working
/system/app = not working
thanks though
it must be some compatibility issue, after all, it's from ics to jb.
so for everyone reading this on JB, do you have this issue?

Hey Guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out here. I have a RMAed TF201 with JB bootloader which I just rooted with the new method. I used titanium to uninstall a bunch of bloatware and pre installed ASUS stuff that I didn't want. Yesterday I decided to do a factory restore and it works but leaves out a bunch of ASUS APK's that I removed with titanium. Now I'm unable to download ANYTHING with the browser or market. I get an error with android.process.media and the only way I can install APK's is using ADB. I figured that I would try to unlock and use custom ROMS to fix this but the unlocker tool gives me the network error that everyone seems to be getting. Here are a few questions hopefully someone can help me with:
Can I put the APK's that I deleted with titanium back in the the System/App folder? (Right now it's giving me a read only error)
Is there a way to download ASUS's recent firmware and have my system restore from that?
Is there anything I can do about the unlock tool that doesn't have me sending back my tablet to have my device unlocked.
Note** I'm familiar with ADB and willing to take any risk to solve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Mike
Would anyone be kind enough to post screen shots of what is in /System/Apps/ ? And maybe links to DL the APK's?

Can't you just download the firmware again and follow the instructions to reinstall it ?

I've tried. Maybe i'm doing something wrong when I put it on the SD card? I left the zip file and I also unzipped it. The firmware update doesn't pop up. It looks like the provided file explorer is MIA too so I ADB install ES. I deleted alot of things tabbed with "ASUS" in Titanium, I hope i didn't really screw something up here.
Can someone please send me the basic system apps? I even think I removed the updater! Is there an APK for that? That might solve my issue.
