Hello all .. i know that maybe somebody would have experienced that already but cant seem to find anything right on to help me.
I have issues with Gameloft games when trying to play them on my note, i installed chainfire3d and when i try to play some of them game here is what happen as examples.
Dungeon hunter 2 = it seems to all go as it should, but then the loading screen is too small (resolution) and then it closed and it goes back to my phone ...
Assassin's creed = everything goes good but then the game appears being too small in resolution, the graphic all crap and the controls are warped (need to touch higher in the screen to control)
Is it because the versions i got are not for our note i717 (i717M in my case) and they dont adapt to that resolution ? and if it is the case is there not a way to play with resolution to make certain app or game be in a different resolution ?
Other game i have problem with as well = Super Mario bros, backstab hd ...
The ones that seems to go good for now = eternal legacy (excellent btw eventhough the game is smaller than the screen i have), dungeon hunter 1 is all good too.
Anybody has an idea to solve my problem and have these excellent games working on our notes ?
Zykio ..
you need to get the HD version for each of those games
anything that is non HD or old HD, it will out of place

Thanks for the info, i did check and have problems with some of them even if HD
Examples : Spiderman HD has graphic distortion when on the first page of the game (maybe my files ?)
Backstab HD just close by itself
Nova 2 HD same thing .. close by itself
Avatar HD has the left side (with the virtual stick) working and image ok but the right side vitual buttons are not at the same place as shown so you have to guess where to press (again seems a resolution issue)
Is there parameter in my note that i can set for auto adjust to resolution or something or is it Chainfire3d ? or something else ?
Anybody got any more ideas? Would it be that I have to get the hd version for the galaxy note specifically?
Another example is the hd game the settlers hd that gives all white instead of proper graphic even if I've tried different combinations with chain fire 3d

Hey guys,
I have an Xperia T with stock firmware 4.1.2 but I'm thinking about installing CM 10.1 from FreeXperia on it (not that it matters for this thread, but anyways).
It usually runs Modern Combat 4 just fine, but sometimes the framerate drops. Now, especially in multiplayer, this sucks.
The game runs in 1184x720 (1280x720 minus the menu bar) and I was wondering if it's possible to run the game at a lower resolution (for example 888x540) somehow.
I know there's also a thread on this forum how to change the graphics mode on Modern Combat 4, but that trick doesn't work for the current version of MC4 (or I didn't get it right, also I'd prefer sacrificing resolution instead of graphical effects). I have the version from the gameloft.com WAP shop.
So yeah, is it possible (and if, how)?
On occasion I like to play emulators (e.g., NES.emu, Snes9x EX+, GBA.emu etc.) when I travel but, with the MediaPad M5 10.8, I have been experiencing issues in regards to frame drops (stuttering). If I enable 'Frame Skipping', the issue stops but the end result is jank.
I find this surprising as my prior tablet, the Tab S2 9.7, had a SD 652 CPU and could easily handle PPSSPP or ePSXe whereas the Kiron 960s with its Mali-G71 MP8 experiences hiccups on games like Super Mario Bros. It will run PPSSPP or ePSXe but again, like before, frame drops.
No other issues to report aside from this; video/sound playback are optimal (up to 1080P/24FPS/60FPS - but 1440P is a no go) and no overheating. Battery saver is off. I've toggled 'Smart Resolution' on and off without difference.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I love a bit of emulation me, so I'll have a go with PPSSPP tonight on my M5 8.4 SHT-W09. Any PSP games in particular that you've tried that cause you grief?
I haven't gamed heavily, but I recommend deleting Chrome and uninstalling updates to Android System Webview (or experiment with uninstalling updates to Chrome rather than getting rid of it). I saw general improvement from this - and some recommend this for smoother gaming on any Android device (Chrome, or Webview if Chrome is disabled, serves as a system process that is used by many apps, so glitchy or otherwise heavy updates cause issues system-wide).
If rooted you may be able to clock the gpu higher for specific apps. See this Mate 9 thread (Mate 9 shares the same cpu/gpu):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/mate9-takes-advantage-1ghz-gpu-t3601524
additionally go for the display options
try disabling smart resolution, fiddling around with the dpi in the development settings etc. I don't really play games a lot but cytus 2 and hearthstone are fine. Ark was a mess though

While I don't play emulation games, I think that many apps are written for SD only. I had came across a number of apps that cannot be installed on this tablet without sideloading and suspect that the CPU is the reason. This could cause the problems you are experiencing?

Thanks to everyone who followed up. Most appreciated!
I've been working away at this for a couple days now.
I've been using 3C Toolbox Pro to freeze unnecessary applications (including the ones previously suggested), used various governors and CPU configurations (all cores overclocked, all cores online etc), enabled GPU rendering, utilized smart resolution, disabled animations, disabled battery saver, have all ROMs running off internal (not external storage) and disabled several more broadcast receivers. I went so far to reset the tablet back to stock firmware and the results were the same.
So I'm thinking it's either a hardware issue, an incompatibility with EMUI or an issue with Huawei's implementation of Oreo.
I've already started a return with the Vendor so if the issue continues with the replacement, we can rule out hardware failure.
Besides PPSSPP and Dolphin (Gamecube & Wii) are there other emulators that people have tested on the switch?
Personally, I'd like to see PS2 emulation, but I know it's a bit of a stretch. :silly:
Also, what are some favorites that play well on the switch?
I ask for discussion since there isn't a thread around.
Drastic and the Beta of Redream should work well.
I guess DamonPS2 should be able to play some lighter games reasonably but don't expect too much.
These are the emulators I have downloaded that I can personally confirm work:
-SNES9X, runs all of the SNES games I have flawlessly.
-Mupen64Pluz FZ, runs all of the N64 games I have flawlessly.
-My OldBoy!, runs all GB and GBC games I have flawlessly.
-My Boy!, runs all GBA games I have flawlessly.
-Dolphin MMJ, does not run all Gamecube games I have flawlessly. (further information below)
-nds4droid, does not run all DS games I have flawlessly. (further information below)
-PPSSPP, runs all PSP games I have flawlessly.
-Redream, runs all Dreamcast games I have flawlessly.
I wasn't able to get the regular Dolphin emulator to run Gamcube games, let alone even install Wii games. The Dolphin MMJ version has some lag, but I don't know the proper optimization through settings that is required to get it to run flawlessly. Other users have posted that theirs work flawlessly, but I haven't seen an extensive list of the settings they use.
Nds4droid lags with the Pokemon games. I've tried to download over 15 different DraStic DS emulator APK files and none have worked for me. They kept displaying an error message of not having something. I can't recall exactly off the top of my head at the moment.
Could someone create a foolproof guide in text or video format as to how to get Dolphin and DraStic to run properly?

Well I'd imagine all retro stuff to work flawlessly. Probably everything in the retroarch set really. Really hoping GZDoom and Morrowind work flawless on android as well, while not an emulator nor engine on thing I'm kinda looking forward to is Zenonia and Chaos Rings, should it actually run
As for setting up Dolphin; there's this at least

If someone gets Morrowind running, I'd definitely be interested in playing that as I've never played it before.
Unfortunately, that tutorial doesn't help me because I didn't need the Octopus application since the Joy Con fix works with Dolphin MMJ. I'm referring to the graphical and enhancement settings in Dolphin.

DraStic runs perfectly bought from the playstore.
DraStic works fine for me, too. It does show some kind of an pop-up error at the beginning, but the emulator itself works fine afterwards.
When it comes to other emulators besides DraStic:
PPSSPP: Played only Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, emulator is working great, although SW: TFU does have *some* slowdowns (but this is the same across all platforms, so very probably not a performance issue), but overall completely playable.
When it comes to games:
Star Wars: KOTOR: I am using version 1.0.9 (from Amazon Appstore) and it works perfectly (including gamepad right out of the box).
GTA: San Andreas: Working fine, but the sticks are not working for movements. Buttons work fine.
Half-Life 2: Native Tegra version, works perfectly fine.
Will continue to edit this post.

Remember, F-Droid is a thing, my friend. Just like a brother above, we're not limited to Google stuff, I for one, have no intention to use Google stuff. I'll be using FDroid, Aurora Store and Amazon c:
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.libopenmw.openmw/ I do believe this uses SDL for joysticks.
My list of emulators are as follows; for everything else I use retroarch.
PSX:
Epsxe - nice psx emulator, works exactly how you would imagine a box standard emulator to work and does the job quite well. Can’t say any downsides to this emulator
Fpse: my favourite out of the two, upscales into HD and even forces a widescreen that doesn’t end in a stretched out mess. Honestly this emulator will make tekken 3 look like tekken 6 (a slight over exaggeration but it’s worth it). The downside is there is no free version and it’s gonna cost you a couple of quid/dollars.
Dreamcast:
Reicast- it works as well as it’s lakka version only this time you can dock the switch for TV. Has a widescreen hack and looks quite nice in places although some textures don’t work right (shenmue need more than a plaster to cover that hole in his face). Downsides are some games don’t work.
Redream - works great, all games I’ve tried run fine including stupid invaders (if that’s what you’re into) that being said, that game doesn’t get past the Sega logo in reicast so this emulator offers more support! I can’t remember if you have to pay for it though and just like reicast it doesn’t support “win ce” games like resident evil 2.
PS2:
Damonps2 - runs a little worse than dolphin, I haven’t found a single game I could consider as playable in that emulator but it shows promise and apparently is due an upgrade that will offer a lot of speed up. This emulator has seen some controversy because the dev ripped off code from the pc version of psx2 and I believe there’s some lawsuit involved. Has the most drawbacks. The free version won’t let you save and the paid version asks for your **** size amongst all over personal data as well as it won’t work if you’re offline or use the xposed frame network. It also shuts itself if you have Magisk installed. To get it to work again you have to hide the application with Magisk hide.
DS:
Drastic - you might have to pay but damn is it worth it. Looks amazing and can swap your screens instantly by pressing the thumb sticks in, not so great for games that utilise both screens at once like Sonic Rush but plays great!!
Like I say everything else I use retroarch for.

For PSX I'd honestly recomend RetroArch (Both android and HorizonOS). It already has Upscaling and it's free. As for Tekken 3 to Tekken 6, I'd yet to find out, haha.
I'm Glad that the Dreamcast works great!! Do you have any recommendations?
PS2- I kinda expected that. Have you tried the Play! Emulator?
DS- Can you do anti aliasing or Upscaling?
I'm currently in the process of getting it on the switch (Had a week long exam) but I'll gladly report any findings I get as well.

Well it’s the widescreen hack that sells Fpse for me, epsxe has one but the graphics flicker a bit. Although I think epsxe runs games better, I do get graphical issues when using the gl plugin. (Tekken 6 for PSP... at a push haha).
I’d recommend using redream for Dreamcast as it offers more support. I’m a big fan of the sonic games and hey run perfectly. I have a lot of fighters on there to and it’s much easier to set up 2 player with redream.
I haven’t managed to get play! working yet, retroarch crashes when I boot it and any app I’ve installed from google searches don’t work or are fake (or maybe I’m doing something wrong).
Yes, the DS can do anti aliasing, I can’t describe how nice they look upscaled. Especially the more 3D heavy games, run really smooth too! Loads of options, i’d Recommend having a look at a few reviews, but it runs amazing in the switch.
I’ve recently downloaded arc browser after a few days of trying to fathom the very poor tutorials of setting up Hyperspin. It’s a nice GUI to load all your games for different emulators in one app. It’s nice to look through all my roms with added cover art and fan art, it does cost like £8 though.
I will add that all emulators I’ve tried to run made by “Robert Broglia” like MD.EMU and Neo Geo emulators do not work in docked mode, it’s almost as though the apps themselves just don’t understand what it is. I managed to get a Sega CD game running through MD.emu docked when I loaded the game through arc browser and it loads and plays and then crashes when you exit making it so you have to undock and redock the switch.
Dolphin works fine for me but the remapping of control for Wii doesn't want to stick after i launch a game. When it does it seems to forget half of the remapping. Anybody else?

Are you certain about the version of KOTOR? I purchased first from Google Play and received version 1.0.6 which hangs, then bought it from Amazon Appstore and received version 1.0.7 which appears to be the latest currently available and it isn't loading fully either.
Hey guys. I just got the phone. Does anyone have a list of app/games that support dual screen? Google searches are not providing much luck to me. Also I see some games that are supposed to support the game pad don't seem to work with the game pad app. Seems like a very good phone, I'm just trying to figure out the best way to utilize it. I know Chrome does and its awesome for multitasking. Having both my fantasy football leagues up at the same time is amazing. Thanks for the help!
I guess its slim pickens....
Yea, since this is technically the 1st phone of its kind(Axon M withstanding), apps that support the tech are scarce. With the Microsoft Duo coming though, developers are bound to jump on the train by this time next year.
Whale Naver browser (omnitasking)
Some Korean 5G services
Pirate of Caribbean (dual)
Asphalt 9
Shadowgun legends
All PWA (progressive web apps) supports extended wide view. Just 'add to homescreen' on supported webs (https://Twitter.com for example)
So just to clarify, I could not get any game to natively support the dual screen view. You can launch the game and the LG Game Launcher to pop up the controller on the bottom. Whether the app supports the controller or not, it opens up the controller. Then if the game supports it, you get the notification that a controller is connected. I was able to play Asphalt 9 with the controller. I was not able to find, install, or test the Pirates of Caribbean (Dual) version of the app. I can find and install the normal version, but I didn't bother with it.
Thanks for the posts guys. Hopefully more people will post useful apps and games as they become available. I really thought I would find a list on Google, but only getting reviews of the phone.
Yeah it's kind of disappointing right now. Even though COD Mobile says it's support controller that LG Game-pad does not connect. You can go in and modify your own configuration for the game but for a game like COD it might be a bit tedious. I was playing around with Trials and since there is only a few buttons to map I was able to get that custom setup. They advertised the LG Game-pad to work with any game that supports a controller. Well that might be partially true. So far Asphalt 9 is the only game that works with the LG Game-pad default controller configs. I tested COD and NBA 2K20 which both support controllers and neither work without having to build your own custom config.
I don't know the name of those apps
