1) you should have posted feedback in same thread then you might have got many replies. if everyone opens new thread for special personalized support that will be bad for forum.
2) if you dont want cwm. no issues. you can stay with that. as far as you are rooted its ok.
3) if busybox install is properly done in "/system/xbin/" folder, then its ok. no need to uninstall. it can stay on phone harmlessly.

[FAQ] [ROOT] Questions about rooting SGS2 via zergRush Exploit

Hello,
this F.A.Q should help, when you are confrontig the following situation: I want to root my sgs2, using the zergrush method. Probably because I don't want to change the kernels...
1.) Just to be sure, that I got it right: When I use the zergrush-exploit on my SGS2 (2.3.4) I get root access to the shell via ADB and nothing more. Then I push the app "superuser" on the phone using adb shell command. And then I can use the superuser-app to grant root only to the programs I want. All other programs are still not running in root. Is this right?
Answer from oinkylicious: If you use http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=18805560 you won't need to manually push anything.
2.) Is there anyone else (according to the previous posts) who can confirm, that the zergrush-exploit does work on a unbranded sgs2 which has been updatet to 2.3.4 via KIES?
Answer from oinkylicious: It works fine on < 2.3.6
Answer from E:V:A: It is likely that all stock firmwares distributed & compiled after 9 Nov 2011 may be patched for the "zergRush" explot due to the bugreport filed here: https://code.google.com/p/android/is...etail?id=21681
However, there are always other solutions...
3.) When I apply the zergrush-exploit, …
a) … do I still have the possibility to use KIES to update the kernel e.g. to 2.3.5 (when it's released)?
Answer from oinkylicious: Probably
b) … can I still use KIES to backup my data (e.g. sms, calendar, ...)?
Answer from oinkylicious: Probably
c) … will there be the yellow warning sign while booting?
Answer from oinkylicious: No
d) ... will the legendary "counter" (sorry, I'm still a noob on android) count one up, and has to be resetted via an usb-jig before I potentially send it to claim my warranty in case of a malfunction, or will there be no "signs"?
Answer from oinkylicious: No
e) … can I still use "factory reset" by settings->privacy?
Answer from oinkylicious: Probably
4.) If I can still use...
a) … KIES to update the kernel e.g. to 2.3.5... will the phone then be un-rooted after updating via KIES?
Answer from oinkylicious: yes
b) … "factory reset" by settings->privacy ... or alternatively will the phone then be un-rooted after pressing "factory reset"?
Answer from oinkylicious: Probably, try it and find out.
5.) When I use the zergrush-un-root-function... will there be any traces that the phone was rooted before or will the phone be in the state it was when I bought it?
Answer from oinkylicious: There shouldn't be.
I know these are many questions. So I really really appreciate your help a lot! And I hope this will also help other people who got the same questions... As mentioned, I read a lot before in this forum, but for some questions, I couldn’t find a distinct answer...So I would appreciate it very much, if I could get some help, before I start to root my phone. I think it's better to ask these questions before I start to root, then afterwards...
If someone can confirm oinkylicious's answers or has other opinions, please don't hesitate to post them. I will include them in this post to get a more reliable FAQ... Also if there are more questions. Please ask them and I will add them here...
Best wishes,
mr. salt

Thanks man for your replies.
I appreciate your help.
Before I finally start to use zergrush, I want to be as sure, as possible, that it will happen, what I want to happen and I can still use some features (as I asked in questions 3a/b/3 and 4b)... Does any one have some sure answers or experiences on these questions? and/or can confrim oinkylicious' answers?
Thanks again!

I'll give your thread a courtesy bump to say that I didn't know the answers to those questions because I don't use Kies. I'm not sure why you would want to when you're rooted.
These are very well formulated and very common questions for every first-time rooter. I have no idea why this list is not present and stickied already, or on the front page of the FAQ!?
@sea_salt: I suggest you update your first post with the answers from #4!!

Thank you. I think you're right. These questions are important for many first-time zerg-rush-rooters. PS: thanks for the tip, I updated my first post...

Dooood. Don't be afraid! If you root it THEY will come! Mu-ha-ha-ha...
You phone is close to useless in its non-rooted state. Go for it! (You will not regret it!)
New Question:
6.) When I just use the manual method:
Code:
adb shell mkdir /data/local/tmp
adb push zergRush /data/local/tmp
adb chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/zergRush
adb shell
cd /data/local/tmp/
./zergRush
adb remount
up to this line (and do not continue with adb push su /system/bin and so on)...
a) Will I have just a temporary-adb-root only (and nothing else is changed)?
b) Will adb return to be not-rooted when I restart the phone?
c) Will there be any "staying"-changes to the system?
(I ask this because I want to use zergrush only to get root-adb and then make some backups via dd-commands (via adb-shell), so I want to let the kernel and the whole system as "untouched" as possibible and just temporarily have a rooted adb...)
I used this method and installed SetCPU. Now i got
Hotplug (default)
on demand
conservative
performance
etc..
I am able to push CPU up to 1.2 Ghz but I wanna what profile is best to use. Currently i set it with OnDemand, but i wanna know what is hotplug, or what profile is best to use. Thanks!
@sea_salt:
Yes You'll get temporary rooted adb. No permanent changes to OS might be performed without "mount -o remount,rw /system".
I assume that You want to backup EFS. IMHO "temp root" is pointless, root itself doesn't do any harm to OS, just adds 3 files su, Superuser.apk and busybox - by removing those file You can do mysterious unrooting, besides there is doomlord unrooting script. Kernel is untouched by this rooting procedure. System can be damaged by messing with it or by using rogue root app. So watch what You install and it'll be fine. Also if You need to restore your backups later You'll also need root and newer androids have this bug corrected so zergrush will be useless and You have to flash kernel first.
So I successfully rooted with zerg rush.

How do I do a nandroid backup without having cw?

Samsung Galaxy S2
I rooted my S2 with zerg rush.
Have Superuser with granted access for :
Rom Manager , Titanium Backup , Root Explorer

Flashed CWM in ROM Manager
When I try to backup via ROM Manager got
E: Signature verification faillure
a ) I read about the CF-Root but dont know if i am allowed to use this Method after i've allready zergrushed.
b) CF-Root does not allow me to backup via ROM Manager , as it is written in the description that is not working with RM and installs an owon CWM Manager.

Yes you can flash CF-root even if you have used zerg rush. CWM Manager works just as well as Rom Manager.
Hi could someone explain the difference between the zergrush exploit and CF root. I rooted my sgs2 using cf root ages ago but my friend got her hands on an sgs2 recently. The zergrush exploit seems to not increase your binary counter but I read somewhere that it isn't a full root which confused me.
sea_salt,
While your post is very helpful, I just wanted to point out that your hyperlinks in post #1 are not functioning. You should probably fix them.

zergrush exploit doesn't increase your count but it only gives you root (it doesn't give you CWM recovery). BUT you can use mobile odin to flash a different kernel and it won't increase you count but you will have CWM recovery. I did that and my counter is at 0 (I don't hame my USB jig yet) but I do have siyah kernel and CWM recovery.
a) … do I still have the possibility to use KIES to update the kernel e.g. to 2.3.5 (when it's released)?

Question = Do you need to flash 2.3.5 to do zergrush?
Answer =
No if your Gingerbread version is 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and 2.3.5.
Yes if your Gingerbread version is 2.3.6(specially novermber released) and above.
This method will 100% work on 2.3.3, 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 gingerbread versions.
If you have 2.3.6, you need to flash 2.3.5 or lower first.
Note:Flashing kernel only will not work. If you have 2.3.6, You must flash [2.3.3, 2.3.4 and 2.3.5]the whole rom+kernel.
Also some 2.3.6 released earlier than november, this exploit may work.
Additional info, you can add this on the first page:
If you just want to remove yellow triangle from a 2.3.6 rom.
1. perform Nandroid backup
2. Flash 2.3.5 (or lower) rom+kernel package then do zergrush method (zImage CF-Root or any rooted kernel)
3. Restore Nandroid backup, and you can now flash any non secure kernel from recovery
Yellow triangle gone.

[Q] Problems getting root access at galaxy s4 mini

Hi, first i appriciate ure help and the work here is amazing. i wanted to put the question directly to the right threat but i couldnt (no 10 messages).
i have rooted my galaxy s4 as explained in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980.
i did everything exactly as mentioned from step 1 to 9 and it all worked.
When i started my phone, also as mentioned, the knox-file told me that phone has security issues... (i thought "nice, now its definitaly rooted"). SuperSU asked me if it shall block the knox, i said yes and the messages stopped.
To make it sure, i downloaded "root checker", the app asked for permission at superSU, i gave it, then message from phone that permission is given, but then nothing happened. Same for Titanium Backup. When i wanted to set permissions directly at superSU, it said that binary file needs an update. What i did was to update superSU via google play as mentioned in many forums, but still same problem. i also downloaded super user, the app said no root permission.
-> i rooted the phone already 3 times following exactly the instrucions at thread from above, every time the same problem.
I read a lot in forums, my conclusion to the problem is that i still dont have my phone rooted.
- What do you think??
- Has anyone any idea what i can do to get my phone rooted?
- Is there a possibility to unroot the phone? because now i always get questions about permissions, but it makes no difference what i press bec it doesnt work.

It might be kind of a noobie question but i still ask it
I followed the instructions from the thread mentioned earlier, but when i go in recovery mode with the button combo i have the "normal" recovery from android and not the CWM. do i need to flash the CWM to my phone like mentioned for example here at method A?
Another thing: Do you think that my phone is rooted and i just got problems because of the SuperSU binary file?

Place the Update-SuperSUv1.86.zip (I gave you a link for it in previous post) on your sd card then repeat steps 2-7 from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980
Once you are booted into CWM recovery flash the Update-SuperSUv1.86.zip file and reboot. Now go open SuperSU it should ask if you want to disable knox. Say yes and then try root checker.
If you do not have Su binary on the phone then you are not rooted.
There is a file in the phone that reflashes the stock recovery on every boot, you would need to remove it to keep CWM.
Please let me know if this works for you, good luck!

Are you mad? This thread is as old as your account is, about 2 years. After such a long time it is unlikely that this request is still up to date. No one uses the Archos Tablets anymore, including me. So better watch out what you write before pressing the submit reply button.
Dont tell me after nearly 10 years of being here how I have to post something

I don't get the point of your rude answer, you asked 6 days ago if someone is still interested in knowing a root method for this specific device, but if the op hadn't had an answer for his request in a long time, maybe he (or someone who reads like me) could be interested in knowing it anyway!
And just so you know, I bought this device right today, who cares if you are not using it anymore? If you still know a root method of it, "Please" post it, I didn't imagine how rude can be the people everyday.. keep calm
Well ok maybe I was too rude. Had a bad day at the office. Took your answer too offensive. Sorry man.
I 'just' didnt post a 'how to root' as I needed to look into my archives first on how I did it back years ago, took me some time.
I created and uploaded a package for you (and anyone else interested) to dropbox with all files needed.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tc8vcutkk4i95ho/Root.zip?dl=0
There are special adb drivers for the tablet, I think they were needed. As I said it has been some time I did it myself but they were necessary I think.
Well and afterwards just run the .exe file. Should root it then. (Kingo Root?)
Anleitung.txt was my translation from the original french tutorial.
Good luck

Thank you for your time, as soon as I get my hands on it (I bought it online, it will take some time once I receive it) I will try it and update the thread with the results.
Maybe, since some years are passed, KingoRoot could make root easier to do; I will try it first and in negative case I will try to follow your suggestions.
I'll keep you posted =)

So, here I am again..
I used latest kingo root apk to root my gamepad 2 and if I try to replace kingoroot with supersu (using the sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh command in terminal emulator) it deleted the kingoroot app and set the superSu app as system app but then when I try to open up SuperSu, it tells me that the su binary are not installed and that it's a problem..
I even tried to root with kingoroot app and installing the superSu app, while opening, it asks me to update Su binary but if I try to do so then the "operation failed" is shown as consequence...
I really need to get rid of Kingoroot and install the SuperSu and su binaries because if not, the foldermount app will keep telling me there is some write error by using it..
I tried searching on the web to find if there is some CWM or TWRP recovery available and I found only the RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip file (here).
Anyone has tested it yet? If I successfully flash the CWM I would be able to flash the superuser through recovery and so to update the su binaries..
The question is: is there any other methods to try before trying to flash a recovery that God only knows if it work or if it bricks my tablet?
I was wondering if I can manually insert those binaries into something /system folder...
Please, any help would be very appreciated!

Any news related Custom roms and Kitkat 4.4.4?
Congrats on rooting. I have no info or news about a 4.4.4 ROM or anything newer. This device is 'dead' for devs And I guess Ill sell mine soon. Still, have fun with it
I have a question why did this device never got any support from devs? it is a pretty cool device, great for emulators, you can even install the ouya store on it.
Anyway I am hiring a dev for a specific mod for this device, I can pay using paypal please pm if you are interested.

Rooting Android 5.1.1 with 14.6.A.1.236 build number

Hi guys. I have bought Xperia Z Ultra C6833 a few days ago. and I have updated my phone to the latest version which is 14.6.A.1.236 via online update in settings and my bootloader is locked.
I have some question about rooting my device:
A) I have searched many topics about rooting this build number and i have found 2 out of which:
1) the first one is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/development/ub-14-6-1-236-stock-ftf-root-t3270850 and my question is can I use your method in my phone? I mean should I unlock my bootloader or not? Does it create problem that I updated my phone via online update and without Flashtools?
2) another one is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904 and my question is= is it safe I mean my phone will not be hurt? I mean first I download stock firmware ftf file and put it in the software and add SuperSU zip file and blend them or mix them together and finally flash the result with flashtools. can I use this method for rooting my device?
help me pleaseeee:angel::angel: tell me which one is better or which method is better. please please please:angel::angel:
1) if you want unlock bl should be work 2) in this method prfcreator output zip file you should flash with CWM or TWRP recovery so you need unlock bl or root phone.
if you want only root phone without unlock bl try kingroot app then replace supersu (with this tutorial) you can also flash zip file created with prfcreator after root and install XZDualRecovery.
English isn't my first language, so please excuse any mistakes

Weird, it worked on my zu same build number, you can try iroot or kingoroot different from kingroot, otherwise you should unlock bl, no other idea, maybe you'll find someone else to help you or search for other method.

hi
u just need to install IRoot on your pc and then run it to root your z u.....,after rebooting it says ' Root Successful '
but u dont have the root access yet................................,
u can find an App called kingroot ((u cant unistall it - like system apps )) open it and it will scan your device for root access.......then use it to root it
for the guys from in iran U have to use VPN to compele the process
Hi guys,
the kingroot app does work for me. But only in part. What I mean is yes it gives root access but for other apps like adaway it' doesn't. And the second part where we run the sh script with unzipped, mrw folder files. That didn't work for me. I get stuck on supersu update failed. Eventually I did find another way from one of our brothers here at xda and I did get root "YAY " but on one of the reboots I got into boot loop lol(ofcourse I don't blame him for it) . And now I am back here to flashing FTF to stock firm with no root. (again ?) I do have a fair idea about rooting a few of my devices but this baby just doesn't want to be mine.

Skip the magisk part and to prevent bootloop use this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
Or an older version of supersu 2.79 for example

Thanks bro, guess I was late reading this. Got myself a vivo v11 pro
Im in possession of a Xperia Z Ultra, with lollipop 5.1.1 14.6.A.1.236, how do i go about rooting it? Ive been reading along on the forums and internet, and the only thing i can come to is using this one click program Kingoroot (and the likes), but those dont seem to be installing (error code).
What's the best way rooting my device? The USB port is abit unreliable, im using the magnetic port to charge the device.

[ROOT][D605][4.4.2] Stock KitKat V20H permanent root method.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to let you know that I've found a way to permanently root the latest stock KitKat ROM for our LG L9 II (D605).
Here's what I did:
Starting with fresh KDZ install of v20h (no cwm or other things necessary), you need to be on Dalvik (default). (It should work up to v20h, not just on v20h btw.)
Two important steps before proceeding: Settings/Security -> Enable 'Unkown Sources' and Disable 'Verify Apps'!
1) Download and install KingRoot, use it to root the phone (might restart, after it boots, just start the app again). Make sure you're on WiFi while running Kingroot.
2) Download and install SuperSU Me Free app, use it to delete KingUser and switch to SuperSu. Make sure to give the app root permissions.
At this point you're fully rooted with working SuperSU, although you will lose it at restart. If you just need 'temproot' to delete some stuff, go ahead, you're done.
To finalize root:
3) Put this file to the '/cache' folder. Root is required to do this step. Do it with Total Commander or some other file manager app (give it root permissions).
4) Download and install Reini Reboot from Play Store. Start the app, give it root permissions. Click 'Restart to Recovery'. Phone restarts.
5) Welcome to your stock system recovery. (Go up or down with volume keys and select with power key.)
Navigate to 'Apply update from cache', where you will find the root_v2b.zip file you put there. Click on it, it installs, then select 'reboot system now'.
You are now fully rooted, that's permanent.
(Might have to update the SU binary right after, and another time after you update SuperSU in Play Store.)
Feel free to hit 'thanks' if it helped.
Hi!
I just wanna say thanks for this easy described method of rooting my beloved LG Optimus L9 II. I tried this method about 30 minutes ago and so far so good. I appreciate your easy description of going about this method and I also appreciate that you either attached or linked all the tools that you need for this rooting. I hope that more people discoveres this method. I do hope that you know how much I really appreciate this. A BIG thanks from me!
i have cmw recovery, no Apply update from cache option. Any solution?

Yes. Do this after step 2)
3) Download this file and put in on your phone (anywhere).
4) Enter CWM and flash the root_v2b.zip file with CWM.
Thanks, it works like a charm. Point 4 can be done by just using "adb reboot recovery" though.
Work on v20g?

Thanks for the feedback. It's easier (noob-proof) this way though. But you're right
@Famenz: I think it should work up to v20H, but feel free to try.
D60520d-260-06 - OK
It worked for D60520d-260-06, brand Play.
I am using an older version of KingRoot-4.0.0.233-release-201505071219_105001.apk
Official XDA website SuperSU Me.
Please follow there thanks to @gatesjunior.

Installing the application does not require resetting the device.
root_v2b.zip is not compatible with V20H, gives me "E:footer is wrong" and cancels
Some questions.
- Why supersu me doesnt keep the root ?
- Can't I skip the step 2 and install supersume at the end ?
- Cant we just spy what method king root uses to root and make a root for us ?
- I havent tryed framaroot casue its too wierd that it ask for photocamera access permission... does it work ?
P.S. I just noticed that kingroot could be chinese ? (I see asian chars) And you know that chinese puts spyware everywhere !
(Ok, android it self is a spyware)
P.P.S. King root and framaroot doesnt work for me ! ( vodafone 20g )

You probably haven't noticed this, but the D605 has been abandoned way before even the P71x, and that was kept alive up until somewhere in 2016. It's quite safe to assume your questions will probably never find answers here.
About the spywhere, every piece of electronics is spying on you. If you want privacy, go live in the mountains.
literally there's no file to put on the phone because media fire is gone...
