Did you do:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
advanced - wipe dalvik-cache
that might solve the problem.
otherwise maybe either the rom or the kernel is corrupted, download them fresh and reinstall both.

repair using seus or pc-companion gets you back on stock firmware including kernel, your bootloader will still be unlocked.
or look in the x10mini pro development section, there might be stock kernels for flashtool available for download.

Dear reader,
I've been trying to root my phone for a couple of days now. (Sony Xperia Ray ST18i)
I've browsed to numerous forums/websites in search of a good tutorial/guide to help me do it.
Finally i've managed to find youtube clips which helped me step by step to getting it done.
First thing i did was this:
How to unlock BootLoader on Xperia Ray[Official 4.0.4 ICS]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
I already encountered my first problem there. I wasn't able to unlock bootloader on my android 4.0.4 so i downgraded my phone to gingerbread 2.3.4. After that i repeated the unlock bootloader tutorial and i succesfully managed to unlock it.
After this i tried to root my phone with the easy rooting kit v.1.0
This worked but after turning my phone on, i noticed that the phone wasn't actually rooted yet.
After contacting the person who made the bootloader video, he told me that i had to flash my kernel. So i went ahead and used another of his video tutorials. (don't mind his english accent btw)
How to flash costum kernel[Sony Xperia Ray]
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now this, running with gingerbread 2.3.4. worked without a problem and i currently have a custom kernel installed onto my phone.
This is where i run into my problem.
According to his next video tutorial:
How to root Xperia Ray
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
He shows that you need to be in your phone's regular menu, in order to root your phone with the easy root kit made by DooM.
My problem is that i currently am stuck in the phone kernel menu. When i try to let my phone load up normally, it just keeps rebooting.
The kernel menu btw looks exactly the same like the one shown in the link below:
Xperia play (HOW TO ROOT, FLASH KERNEL, FLASH ROM )
[Can't post links on here yet because of the spam block. If you look for the title on youtube, you should be able to find it]
Now i've tried my best to be as detailed as possible with what my current situation is.
My question would be: What am i doing wrong and how can i root my phone from where it is right now, because as it stands. I'm unable to use my phone.
Kind Regards,
Cashtecz
ps. ( i did a quick search on the forums but i haven't come across as post that shares the same problem as i have)

If your bootloader is unlocked, not via pc companion or over the air.
On which rom are you currently on?
Normally you do a backup with for example titanium backup and flash the custom kernel, install the custom rom and restore the titanium backup...
P.S.: For every android version there is a zip file which contains the "gapps" (google apps like playstore) which you can flash with clockworkmod

you are doing it in the wrong way. RecoverX is installing a recovery mode to your SYSTEM partition. when you are flashing the new rom you are formatting that partition. so you can't go back to cwm. First flash a kernel with a recovery mode then you can go to cwm whenever you want. hope this helps you.

Nope, just flash the kernel. The bootloader won't be relocked by flashing the stock rom, so you don't need to unlock it. The kernel is prerooted, so it will root the rom that is installed. Just flash a custom kernel for ics (guess ultimate hd is an ics rom), boot in cwm, install the rom and see what happens

No he doesn't, not for just a custom ROM anyway, and he already said he can't unlock his bootloader.
Start with this one, it's the last MiniCM7 by nAa which ran on stock kernel, based on Gingerbread 2.3.5.

Get this (ClockWorkMod) and put it on your sd-card
Put the ROM on your sd-card too
Get flashtool (It's in the first post in the x10mini dev section)
Install it
If you do NOT have Sony Update Service or PC Companion then:
Install flashtool-drivers from the drivers subfolder and choose E10i Xperia X10Mini
Press the Padlock button in flashtool, this will root your phone
Press the Swiss flag (Plus) button in flashtool, this will install xRecovery
Choose Tools - Reboot - Recovery - Reboot default recovery
On your phone: Choose 'Install zip from sd-card' - Choose custom zip
Select CWM-recovery-3.2.0.0-r3-x10mini-Amend.zip
Select yes
Reboot your phone and press the back-button repeatedly just before and when the sony ericsson logo appears.
Choose backup and restore - backup (This will back up your current system and data so you can get it back later should you want to)
Choose Install zip from sd-card - Choose custom zip
Select MiniCM7-2.0.7.zip
Select yes
Do: Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
In the advanced submenu: Wipe Dalvik-cache
Reboot the phone and enjoy your new ROM
(You will have lost all your user-data so maybe it's a good idea to back up at least your contact-list to sd-card, which can be done when you enter the contacts app and press the menu-button, it will create a file on your sd-card that you can import again later.)

Here's the latest official update from Sony. It's the second 5.1.1 release, and it looks like a bugfix release. The version here is the German version (yes, it'll work on all devices). Works on both locked and unlocked bootloaders.
Root and recovery must be installed separately if that should be desirable.
- Download ROM (FTF) (1.3GB) (Google Drive)
- NUT Dual Recovery
- SuperSU (Flash in recovery)

OR

I'll make this short. If you don't know how to navigate through a terminal, then you'll have to search and read about it, or use a different method. Note that you must have fastboot/ADB installed on your computer. This handy installer does the job for you.
- Download a random Z Ultra kernel with recovery, like this one
- Boot your device into fastboot
- Open a terminal and type "fastboot boot <kernel.img>
- Watch your device. It'll boot. Press VOL UP for recovery
- Flash NUT's DualRecovery ZIP
- Reboot
OR
- Download QuickIMG
- Boot into fastboot (VOL UP while you plug it to your computer)
- Does the app say "Connected"? If yes, continue.
- Choose the kernel you downloaded and press "hotboot/boot"
- Watch your device. It'll boot. Press VOL UP for recovery
- Flash NUT's DualRecovery ZIP
- Reboot
OR
- Use fastboot (terminal) or QuickIMG
- FLASH the kernel you downloaded
*It is compatible with this ROM, so you can choose to run this kernel. It has recovery.
- Reboot and you're done
The kernel i downloaded is a zip file.
Should i extract the the "boot.img" and flash it with adb or fastboot?
I really appreciate it sir. Thanks.

Yup, but just start by hotbooting it, and not flash. That way if something goes wrong, you'll just have to reboot since the kernel hasn't been flashed.
Any chance someone more skilled than myself could make this update prerooted for LB, that we can just flash over .368.... Please

You'll have to go through a painful guide. There is a guide in the general section, so read that before deciding if you want to flash it. You can also just flash a ROM that's pre-rooted. This ROM is mostly for those who aren't planning on rooting and those that have unlocked bootloaders, so sorry about that.
