Ecliptic rez is a very stable ROM sporting sense 4.0 with almost everything working (Data arrows dont work) but you get all the goodies of sense 4.0

This ROM is the stock ics update with some tweaks also very stable also

The first reply seemed to have gotten it all. But I think you should try aosp cm9 ROMs if you haven't tried aosp yet, cm9 is very stable and I will never go back to a sense rom
I was on shrikes cm9 for a few months, than I tried rage ROM for a week because if the mods and extra features but if you do use rage make sure the read what i/o scheduler is supported if you use a kernel tuner app. I don't think there all supported which would lead to boot loop if you choose the wrong ones but I could be wrong, just watch out for that
But I'm currently on cm10.1 ROM and I don't recommend it yet because its not finished yet, but its smooth as hell and battery life is probably the best this phone will ever see. Can't wait till its finished

Is the camera/video working in aosp now?
I can attest to EclipticRez being a good daily. Works great and is super smooth, and you get great support.

[Q] Best MIUI ROM?

Man, I remember the days before the unlocked bootloader, when one of the best MIUI ROMs was Trip's. Poor dude got banned and all. Anyways, so now, there are like ten different MIUI ROMs on XDA. My question is, which is the best one? I'm talking in terms of stability. I don't play games, I just want a ROM where every default app works. A stable, fast ROM that isn't meant for gaming, but for things like video viewing, messaging and MSN and Skype.
My bootloader is unlocked, so I'm taking suggestions on MIUI ROMs that require an unlocked bootloader (even though most of them do anyway).
Thanks.
I'm currently using this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304752
Try it
Trip is at Modaco btw, but his development for x10 is not anymore what was before cause he switched on Sensation.
I feel all the MIUI roms are similar with the same bugs still there. so, you can try anyone of them which is available on XDA. I am using TripnRaver Beta and it is available in modaco forums. Almost everything is working fine including screen on and off animation! So give atry!
Yeah, but this is fully working GB MIUI rom.
Except there is no GTalk on it, but I fixed that too
I'm using Prime Unleashed, Installed it about three days ago, so far I'm liking it, it has working wifi and usb hotspot, barcode scanner, no data bug, the only thing that doesn't work is the built-in screenshot app (you can use any other from the market) and the theme preview app doesn't show a preview of all your themes but you can still use themes... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295089
A1exander's M1U1 1.10.21 V8. The first MIUI I used and no issues yet. The only thing I miss in MIUI is the menu and timescape.
I am using Oodie's Miui, the only thing which hurts is, it consumes RAM very fast becomes laggy after some hours, but just reboot once n all will be fine again!

[Q] Fastest/smoothest CM7 ROM

Hello,
i am currently using wolf's v7 b4(i think)..and after some time it became very slow. Specially if i also listen to music it's very very unresponsive.(probably it has a little to do also with the fact that i'm using GO Launcher EX)
I would like to try CM7 as it's the smoothest. FXP047 seems to be perfect except one BIG BUG: Video recording.
i would like a stable/fast CM7 rom. Sometimes i also use video and in this case fxp047 isn't suitable as my daily rom.
so: what it's the fastest most stable CM7 rom with full working camera?
are the other CM7 ROMS much slower/less stable than FXP047?
What are the differences between others CM7 ROMS(ThGo2 for example or maybe ZMOD) and FXP's one. i mean at features/speed/quality of tweaks..
if you suggest MIUI(i don't like the iphone like feel and the lack of app drawer)
Thank you in advance!
I used Spaarc's CM7 mod but got rid of it because of the low battery life. It's very fast and doesn't lag often. The camera worked but I'm not sure about the video recording because I didn't use it. The wifi and tethering didn't work through the phone itself but there are apps that compensated for it. I recommend Spaarc's CM7 but I would like to know if there is another just as good that doesn't have the battery drain like it did.
thanks, but the rom in the link you gave me is not working'[ROM][DEV] Spaarc back Cyanogenmod 7.1 ROM | 2.3.7 | Released'
I think you made a confusion. Spaarc made another older CM7 ROM and i think that's what you're talking about: "{X10}[ROM][AOSP-2.3.7]SpartaMod RC0 |ON ROM MANAGER !!!!!!!| 2.3.7 | v0.0.1 | [12/10]", but it has the video bug
'Known Issues :
Video Encoder crashes'
any other suggestions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147
this rom is very smooth and great i love it. the camcoder works too. i think that this is the best cm7 rom.
(sorry for my bad english)
I also think that Oodies ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147 is the fastest, but I get FC when using ROM Manager(I know that is mentioned) or using Facebook for Android.
that's the one i'm gonna try today.
about rom manager i don't care so much, but for facebook have you tried to fix permissions?
Yes, but it didn't work, going to report when I hit 10 Posts. And it is Reboot not FC^^ I mistake it.
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
i already reported as i tested the ROM. Same bugs for me
and no autofocus in video mode
..and that's all in few hours. Very fast ROM
Later edit: oodie already posted a fix for facebook.everything working perfect now!

SGP 5.0 with Slim Bean and sultan kernel r4 help.

I've taken I great liking to slim beans rom, it has a performance tab in settings and I've got the camera working with Fastburst app. Everything is great. I'm using Sultan Kernel r4 because r6 is a 4.3 kernel and Slim bean is 4.2.2 Anyways I needed some help with getting the FM radio working, Ive tried Sprint FM unlocked but cant get it working. I've tried other radio.apk files but they result in crashes. Any chance someone could help me ? I know theres a fix somewhere through all these forums but Ive searched and cant seem to find the right fix. 4.2 is running much smoother then gingerbread and it gives me more RAM, I cant go back lol.

Ohh nvm you're using 4.2... if so then it would be nice to ask somebody to compile a 4.2 kernel with fm radio support if possible.

Ya the Sultan Kernel r6 has added SI4709 radio driver which I think is what I need, but since I'm on 4.2 I cannot use it. I tried CM10.2 but had problems, no usb mass storage, no performance tab for memory and cpu settings. My personal preference is more towards Slim bean. I went to their website to get a 4.3 update but as it turns out the Galaxy player isn't listed in their devices. So I'm confused on where the Slim Bean version on here came from. If I could get the 4.3 beta slim bean then I can use Sultan Kernel r6. I've tried Impulse r3 kernel but no go on Sprint FM unlocked. Now that the Camera and flashlight are working pretty good its a shame not to have Radio. Gingerbread did not handle Ram very well and was lagging off an on so I want to keep using ICS or JB roms with performance options. I would ask in the development section but I'm new here and can't post there yet.

I think you forgot some things. CM has all the things you've said before only they're hidden.
For unlocking performance, it's the same thing as unlocking developper options (tap 7 times on build number). For USB mass storage, it's just not a selected option. To do so, you need to go into storage, menu button, then select computer connection.
Also I'm quite surprised you flashed impulse knowing it's a kernel made for SGP 4.0 only.
Anyway good luck I hope it works. :good:

Thanks, I did not know about all this. When I tried CM10.2 whenever I went into the storage menu settings it would crash and say settings has stopped working. I'd plugin my usb to the pc and nothing would show up either. Well, I've got plenty of time so I'll flash CM10.2 again and take a closer look. maybe I missed something. And thanks for the advise on Impulse, I must have missed the part where it said only for 4.0.

I could try that too, I've heard good things about it but the design theme is really not to my preference. Would you be able to customize PAC to your own liking ? I'm sorry I'm picky on themes and features lol.

LOL yeah 3 roms in one sounds pretty good.
I've started downloading the PAC rom found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387504 Its a nightly build from 9.28.2013 If theres a better or more stable version let me know. While thats downloading I'm going to try CM10.2 again and see if I can get everything going the same or better then slim bean 4.2 Hopefully something will work out and I'll get FM radio working plus camera too. I'll post what I find out.
Confirmed. No Mass storage, when trying to open storage menu the settings crash, no working FM radio, No partial working stock camera. These are the issues with CM10.2 so far. But seeing as this is still a beta build its to by expected. Also there are no controls for Ram management or Cpu speed and govenors in the development settings. Its too bad the Devs didn't stick with 4.2 and fix the two main issues that have been around the longest which is FM radio and Camera. These roms are alot faster and smoother then Gingerbread, they would be perfect with FM and camera working. I'll post my findings with PAC next.

1. By unlocking the development settings, you're supposed to find the performance section, it's not within the dev settings.
2. Well the fm is just a forgotten thing AFAIK.
3. For the camera well its the most recurring thing.

Well turns out I spoke too soon. I forgot to wipe the delvik cache. After this I used the CM USA Kernel and everything worked okay with USB mass storage and settings. I couldnt try the FM radio because the WIFI wouldn't work so I couldnt download SprintFM. The camera app did open but no rear picture taking like usual. Fast burst app would fix it though. I tried flashing Sultan Kernel r6, which put me back to the same problems as before with Storage settings crashing and camera app crashing but the WIFI works lol. So i'm at a loss. By the way you were right. the performance settings is somewhere else and thats good to have, I just found it right after I posted. I don't know, one kernel works good but no WIF and the other has WIFI but makes the storage settings crash.

Well why don't you try putting USB mass storage with the kernel, then you flash the other one so you keep mass storage enabled.

I don't know how to. I just installed PAC rom and the FM radio works. I'm using Sultan Kernel r6, but as before with CM10.2 the storage menu settings crash when trying to open it. I also used a different version of SprintFM with PAC so that could factor in to. Heres what I know.
CM10.2 USA Kernel ------ Partial working stock camera, storage menu tab in settings works, No WIFI. FM may work with different versions of SprintFM.
Sultan Kernel R6 -------- Stock camera app crashes instantly, storage tab in settings crashes when opened, FM radio drivers work just find the right version of sprintFM.
I think it is Kernel related, the same issues happen on PAC man and CM10.2. I think only certain versions of SprintFM work and I also think both Kernels have radio drivers built-in. Somehow we need to make storage settings tab work on Sultan r6.
I think I'll just use slim bean 4.2 until things get evened out. I can't use any camera apps on either Kernels, atleast on 4.2 I could use fast burst. Sultan Kernel is good but my request would be to compile an R4 or R5 Kernel kernel again with added FM radio driver like R6 has. I need a 4.2 kernel with radio driver. Or some guide to do it myself as R6 can only be used on 4.3

I was in a similar boat as you, I wanted the FM radio to work, What I ended up doing is running the CM 10.2 which is based on android 4.3 flashed that, then I flashed the sultan r6b2 kernel. This fixes the storage settings from crashing (this version is listed near the end of the thread). So now I can use the fm radio, and sultans kernel. I initally had some performance problems with sultans r6b2 kernel, I initally was overclocking to 1200 but for some reason it seemed to lag, I switched it to 1320 and 1400 and it now looks smooth. on all kernels I normally just switched it from 1000 to 1200, but for some unknown reason 1200 on my device with sultans v6b2 seemed laggy. The cameras don't seem to work, I wish they could fix that.. I know they aren't great but better than nothing..

Thanks for the info, I have one question though. Did you try fast burst camera app ?, I know stock cam app never worked. I'm on Sultan r4 and stock cam app doesnt work but I'm able to take pictures with Fast burst. I would pick having a working camera app over FM, FM would be nice, and if your method makes both work I'll give it a shot. I think if someone where to build another Sultan Kernel for 4.2 with the radio driver this it would be great for everyone. Somehow we take Jackpots 3.0 master kernel and Slim beans sources and compile a working kernel. I'm no Dev, theres people on here how could probably do this pretty quick. But if I'm going in on this alone its going to take me awhile to learn how.

Well, I was able to use fastburst to use the back camera and the front camera as well. The stock camera apps don't work for either cameras. So what you get from fastburst is really a screen print of the review screens, so the quality is not great but works in a pinch.. not sure about video on either the front or back, and I haven't been able to use skype video since moving to 10.2 as it always crashs, likely due to the camera problems.. Hope this helps.

Yeah I agree the quality on Fast burst isn't great but it works, the camera issues haven't been fully fixed on any of these roms. But these 4.x roms provide great speed, far better then stock. Thank you for this info, its good to know I can do this if I want to.

Honestly I could build the kernel however I don't have a cm10.1 tree. If I had so, I would build one no problem for ya. Perhaps you could download the source and I could send you a device tree with the said modifications.

[Q] Help with choosing a DNA ROM (KitKat?)

I'm needing help/looking for recommendations for a new DNA ROM. I usually have the worst luck in choosing ROMs so I thought to ask the community which one(s) that are available at this time that you use and would recommend.
A month or two ago I switched from a 4.2.2 rom to Blackout's "HTC One *STOCK* ROM Port | 4.19.401.8 | 4.4.2 | HTC Sense 5.5" ROM. Although I loved the new features and their work (very much at that, thank you all!).. but with the ROM itself I found the battery life to be pretty bad, especially compared to my previous 4.2.2 ROM and Blackout's also doesn't always connect well to some WiFi hotspots. My old 4.2.2 rom was really great on battery, was fast, stable and connected well to all WiFi connections.
Basically I'm yearning for a newer DNA ROM, maybe KitKat, doesn't have to be though...
My absolute must haves are below:
Very Stable - If it's not stable all the time I'd rather pass for a different ROM. It has to almost never crash with normal usage for it to be a daily for me.
Great Battery Life - A ROM with great battery life. Since the DNA as it is has bad battery life to begin with a battery efficient ROM would be a must.
Fast - I'd like it to be fast in transitions and loading software as best as possible - I'll trade in many cases newer features for speed almost any day.
No Bugs For Common Tasks - WiFi, Bluetooth, Speaker, etc - it all should work as expected and flawlessly.
Nice to haves list, but not necessary, are below:
Latest Android/KitKat - Would be nice to have KitKat, 4.4 but doesn't have to be.
Latest Sense/5.5 - I don't use Sense a whole lot but wouldn't mind the latest.
Improved Camera - again would be nice but not needed.
So basically... any recommendations for a new DNA ROM(s) would be _greatly_ appreciated. I can spend days trying out ROMs with little to show for it and would love to hear your thoughts/recommendations. Even if it's not the latest, if it's a solid, stable fast and super reliable ROM with great battery life please share I'd love to hear it.
Thanks!!
Try ViperDNA. Current version is 3.1.0 (4.4 KK based off the Sense 5.5 from HTC One). It is as stable as it gets for KK, all KK roms have VOIP issues, so if you need that, stick to 4.2.2 which ViperDNA 2.5.2 is based off of (recent DNA OTA).
Why choose Viper for a Rom? It has a boat load of desense options. (AOSP launcher, AOSP lock screen, etc) Viper roms also have some really nice themes also.
Viper ROMs also get pretty decent battery life.

I agree viper rom is by far the most customizable rom when it comes to sense roms and it is very stable. I'm still running 3.0.1 but 3.1.0 is out. There have been some bugs in that version that are being worked on. So I'm waiting until it's fixed. Rom is as stable as it gets though. Highly recommend it when it comes to sense roms.

Great, thanks for the info. Just to clarify: you're running 3.0.1 which is viperDNA_3.0.0_release_candidate.zip released Feb 15, 2014 () plus the VIPERdna_ota_3.0.0_3.0.1.zip from Feb 24, correct? It's Android 4.4 and it doesn't have the SMS bugs people are dealing with in ViperDNA 3.1.1?
I'm also looking for a stable, no-glitch ROM, preferably 4.4. I think I'll try ViperDNA 3.0.1 based on your recommendation. Thanks! =)
For others reading this thread: I had trouble finding 3.0.1, but eventually found it under "previous releases" in the thread "(3.19.14) Team Venom Presents ViperDNA v3.1.1" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648446 Download link is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=2910#downloads

I downloaded 3.1.0 and the OTA 3.1.1 zip update. I formatted my phone with TWRP, "adb push"ed the two zip files to my phone. Installed 3.1.0 then after that I installed the 3.1.1 OTA update.
It's really interesting you mentioned the SMS issue... I've noticed that when I send SMS messages it will repeat them on my phone (but I'm told the recipients only get one of them). If this is the SMS issue you're referring to then I can confirm with 3.1.0 w/ 3.1.1 OTA zip that I'm getting that.
The other issue I have is some Google processes will unexpectedly stop running... for example if I'm using Google Search or Google Now sometimes it'll unexpectedly quit and crash.
Thank you for linking and explaining how to get 3.0.1... I think I'll go ahead and flash that instead.

Viper ROMs also get pretty decent battery life.

why viper? the interface is very different from sense, is there sense inside viper?

I think so; that sounds like what people were describing in the ViperDNA thread. I haven't tried 3.1.0 or later yet, because of the reports of double SMS. As of yesterday there's a ViperDNA 3.5.0. Although the release notes don't say anything about fixing the double SMS, I'm going to watch the discussion for a few days and see whether it gets brought up or not.

So I've now been running 3.0.1 for a day or two and I'm mostly very happy with it. The one caveat is a bug with the camera: if you turn the screen off (or the screen times out) while the camera is open, the screen won't turn back on. I saw a posting saying that a workaround is to plug into power before pressing any buttons, but I found a better workaround: switch to the AOSP lock screen (instead of the default Sense lock screen) and the camera bug goes away. I do miss the quick-launch buttons from the Sense lock screen but my phone is responsive enough with this ROM that I'm OK with that for now. To switch lock screens, go into the Viper Tweaks application, then go to Lock Screen section, and there's a toggle to switch to the AOSP lock screen; you then have to reboot the phone for the change to take effect.
ViperDNA 3.5 isbelieve out
An update -
Viper 3.5 has been released - it supposedly fixes the multiple text message bug (one that I was receiving)... And others are reporting a bug with Bluetooth headsets - in that when music/video/media etc work really well but is jumbled when making phone calls. (*NOTE - I'm not sure on this next part...) I believe I read that the Bluetooth phone issue is rleated to 4.4.2 KitKat , and that it won't be fixed until HTC releases source for the DNA and 4.4.2.
One "big bug" I had with 3.5 was related to GSM ... there is a big issue with APNs, SIMs and ViperDNA 3.5. This is just an FYI based on my flashing experience.
I'm going to try 3.0.1 like others here and see how that goes - I am hoping all I get (if any!) is the camera issue mentinoed above.

3.5.0 apparently fixes double texts (i modded and used a different mms.apk)....that is according to beta team and other users as i personally block messaging on my account and use google voice and hangouts for texting as i dont want to pay for a messaging plan
gsm was a mistake on my part and i got aggressive in trying to make it a more pure gsm build for those users....but if you select "verizon" install instead of gsm in aroma you can still manually set your apns and network mode.....just loose out on the specific gsm quicksettings and have some verizon apps installed
there should be no difference in bluetooth from 3.0.0 up to 3.5.0, its all the same files, phone calls work the same regardless of version for me....but everyones devices are different and we are talking about a rom port
the camera issue/bug with screen off was resolved as of 3.1.0 as well

Yes, Viper is a sense-based ROM. That means it has all the sense libraries and applications. The default lock screen is the sense lock screen, the default launcher is the sense launcher, and the sense mail app, widgets, calendar, etc. are all there too. Other ROMs which are based on Cyanogenmod or AOSP cannot run sense applications because they lack the libraries (and maybe other stuff? kernel support?) needed to run sense.

H:\fastboot flash zip PL83IMG_3.06_hboot.zip
sending 'zip' (558 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.203s]
writing 'zip'...
FAILED (remote: 92 supercid! please flush image again immediately)
finished. total time: 0.265s
so what is wrong with my supercid?? thanks.

Sorry, I haven't seen that one before. But I'm a bit of a noob; maybe someone else can help? If a forum search doesn't turn up anything useful, you might get more attention by starting a new thread.
Thank you!

Thank you so much for replying in this thread Nitsuj17. Glad to know all of this.. I think I will flash 3.5 now in Verizon mode. 3.0.x has been working well for me too (except I have gotten the lock screen bug a few times, once for sure with camera). Love your ROMs and your work.

Great, thanks! Sounds like 3.5 is a winner. I'll update when I get a chance. Very much appreciate all your hard work on this ROM; I'm quite happy with it.
One thing I haven't been able to figure out yet is where to configure the launch shortcuts for the AOSP lockscreen. The ability to configure shortcuts goes away when I toggle from the sense lockscreen to AOSP, but the AOSP lockscreen has 8 slots around the circle for apps to launch, they're just mostly empty. Perhaps that's fixed in 3.5 too?
The best way to find the best DNA KitKat Rom would be to download and be a flashaholic. That's what I have done here so far and honestly I'm stuck between santod040 and nitsuj17 Rom.! They both give me the performance I'm looking for and I never have issues with either of there roms. And when I do I see others metioning the same thing and within a day or two it's usually fixed by them. But that's my point of view. Only you can choose the Rom you like.

Have tried many roms - going back to stock?

Hey guys, just wanted to share.
I tried many roms (PA, CM, Omni, S5 Sensations etc) and I always find something missing/not working properly.
sometimes its the battery draining too fast, sometimes just random crashes and so on.
I'm thinking of going back to stock. I have the i9300 and the latest stock one is 4.3 (boooooo).
Has anyone done this route before? someone here also gone back from roms to stock?
Will be nice to hear others opinion.
Thanks :cyclops:

Even stock ROMs can be plagued by similar issues to be honest.
To minimise the irritations I always clean flash any ROM that I install and restore only apps, not data.
I'm currently rocking this stock based KK ROM port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-qs-i9300-kk-t2755841
with version 6.2 of this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-5-2-27-03-2014-t1964572
without any problems, it is certainly no less stable or functional than pretty much every factory Samsung ROM I have ever used.
If you do want to go back to 4.3 stock based ROM, I have always found Imperium http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37656328&postcount=2 to be pretty much perfect as a reliable, stable daily driver, using the stock kernel with a moderate profile (set in Aroma) I could easily get the thick end of 2 days off a charge under light use but with wifi always on and a bunch of apps like eBay, K9, Gmail, BBC weather syncing in the background.

i also wanted to go back to stock rom for camera and music app
but multitasking is awful in stock rom
also after using stock rom for couple of hours you started to feel lag
lag in dialer, camera and gallery is unbearable
so currently i am using neatrom aosp as primary rom and smartdroid kk v1 as secondary rom
with arters dual boot kernel

Hey, you nailed it - main lag is within camera, gallery & dialer.
in Touchwiz i imminently replace the stock dialer with eXdialer, and the stock gallery with QuickPic.
I also been trying almost all the 4.3./4.4/5.02 but 4.3 stock base is the most stable and trouble free rom for me .
I cant stand whenever you want to snap a important picture the camera crash and need to restart.or phone freeze .
My favourites are 1- SMART DROID Simple v9.9 2-JustArchi_I9300XXUGNG3 3-NCSSROM NK2
#1 & 3 are heavily debloated + CROSSBREEDER it flys
