I currently installed Tether gps on nook color and evo 4g both running nightlies after 7.0. App will start but i get " not recieving location" from the nook color, i have installed the lite and pro on nook color. I set server on evo and client on nook, any ideas?

They are on the same network right? Or tethered together? You might double-check the subnet and the broadcast address, but it should "just work"
Enable mock locations in both devices?

Aha, good point, although not necessary on the server side.

I'm using Share GPS on my phone (Sprint Hero) and Blue GPS on my Nook Color to receive. I've tried more combinations of apps to make this work then I can remember and this is the best I've found so far....Also just something to keep in mind, results may vary not just with what rom you're using, but also if you've changed your kernels, since they control the drivers for bluetooth / wifi.
I use the tetherGPS widget (server) on my phone LG Optints M and tethergps widget (client) on my Nookcolor and works perfectly. At least with Aura by sigic.

Try this on the server: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Run it.
Connect to it on NC.
Use tetherGPS.
Profit!
Can't seem to get this to work. The IP will not broadcast from my HTC Aria. I'm running both CM7 on my phone and Nook. I have mock locations enable on both. I'm using the build in CM hot spot from the aria and the nook see it and logs on just fine. But the client can't see the server. And the server will not broadcast the IP. Is it the build in hot spot and I'll need to use another wifi hotspot app or I'm I just missing something. Please help. Thank you.

wifi hotspot without root

pda net tablet new version paired with fox fi on my bionic has allowed me to connect my prime to my bionic without a tethering plan or root. best of all they are both free
I have Bluetooth tethering working with just pdanet. What is fox fi? I searched the market and google and found nothing related to android by that name... do I fail at the web today?
Edit: I fail at the web. Foxfi.com takes you to their Android Market page. I guess my phone isn't supported however as I just get "Obtaining IP address..." and it never connects. I supposed I'll be sticking with Bluetooth tethering.

I had trouble finding anything until I went to the website. It works wonderfully with the Bionic. Unfortunately only some phones are supported at this time. I couldn't use bluetooth with my bionic, but pdanet notified me that there was a new version of pdanet for tablet and it then took me to foxfi. I am surprised it hasn't been removed all together or at least hasn't made a bigger splash than it has
I just got this working on my Lenovo Ideapad K1 (tablet) and Samsung Fascinate (phone).
Question that I have is do I even need pdanet?

[Q] Does NT have GPS?

Does my NT have GPS? I loaded CM7 on my father-in-laws Nook Color, got Google Maps loaded and it appeared to run great. I can't seem to find "Location Services" settings or anything on my NT though.
FYI - NT 16GB 1.4.2 rooted via sd card, stock ROM
Do I have to load CM to get access to GPS?
No, the location is from WiFi.
So, was I just getting faked out on the Nook Color as well? Is there any way to get some sort of location services working?

Yes, it is likely the same thing that happened on the color. As there is no GPS receiver or cell radio there is no other way than WiFi to locate the device.
The only way to get a GPS signal to your nook tablet is to wifi tether your tablet to a phone with good and then push the GPS signal to the nook using an app called tether GPS.
I have a routed original Droid that I tether to using open garden tether app. Then I push NY phones GPS location using tether GPS. It is awesome using google navigation on my tablet, muchmore visibility than a small phone.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I found/installed the server side apk on my phone, that brianf21 made, but I can't find the client side apk that I need to install on my NT.

Edit: I just installed the client side on my phone as well, then copied over the apk to my NT. It installed, but FC every time.

Trouble with wifi hotspot apps after rooting

Few days ago my old (stock) TB was stuck in a white screen reboot cycle so I took it to verizon and they overnighted me a replacement. I got a Nexus 7 last week and I really wanted to wifi hotspot the new TB so I could use the tablet at work. I lurked this site for a few days and eventually went with the revolutionary.io solution to root ( I am new to this and hope that is the right usage of the word lol). Anyway I thought I was all set to go but every wifi tether app I have tried form the market has either said wifi tether is blocked by HTC Block or it just doesn't work period. I have found several apps that Bluetooth tether but I am trying to use the app Team Viewer and it does not recognize Bluetooth as a data connection (trying to play a little Eve Online from my home computer).
I had success only once with an app called WiFi Tether for Root Users (not enough post to link it, the yellow wifi bar version)
I was able to connect my table to it once by wifi but have since then been unable to do so. I hit the -press to start tethering- button and get a never ending "Please wait while starting" popup. I also get a flash at the bottom of the screen saying "Wifi Tether has been granted superuser permissions" when i hit the button. I'm a bit out of my knowledge area and could really use some help.

I just got rid of my Thunderbolt a couple weeks ago, but if I remember correctly I had significant issues when I replace dmy thunderbolt under warentty, where i used to use the Wifi Tether app (Green bar version), I found myself having to use OpenGarden for my tethering needs.
Something that I never checked out when i was having issues with my thunderbolt was going into Settings -> Change Device Profile -> and make sure HTC Thunderbolt (LTE/CDMA) Is Toggled. I don't know if it will help, but on my HTC DNA i had to change the Device Profile to get the yellow bar Wifi Tether to work for me.
Need to know the rom you are using as that determines how to setup wifi tether.

I'm currently using a stock phone, just with s-off. I was talking with a friend who use to have a TB and he suggested I try BAMF Forever 1.10 FINAL. I might try it, but I am going to have to figure out all I will have to do as I have never messed with a phone before.
For sense ics ROMs wireless tether needs to be setup as follows. Device profile rezound, check routing fix, and setup method auto. For GB sense ROMs use the thunderbolt profile and make sure routing fix is checked. For aosp ROMs even ICS you have to use the Google nexus one profile and check routing fix.

Android TV & Private Internet Access client: Vpn disconnecting!

Afternoon
I have logged a ticket with PIA support for this as well as it seems to be a serious flaw with Android TV (7.1.2). After you have connected the VPN or even set VPN to always on, as soon as you press/select the home button the VPN gets disconnected. I installed Nova launcher thinking it might be a launcher issue, but same result.
In this instance it was on a T95Z Plus box (under the Sleekview brand) running Android TV 7.1.2., Has anyone else had this issue or has Android TV and PIA and can confirm behavour on thier box? I have PIA on my Galaxy S7 and the above issue dosent present itself.
many thanks
b.
