Need help rooting Sanei N78 tablet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It has 4.1.1 JB(kernel version 3.0.8+). I installed drivers for the tablet on PC, tablet has USB debugging enabled, unmounted storage. I tried some rooting methods and it had no effect at all(Superoneclick - it stops on step 7, waiting for device, manually rooting - adb shell won't run when i enter the command, root by Bin4ry - it processes the entire operation and competes it with no errors and for some reason it had no effect also). Any suggestions or solutions?

Do a search and you'll find the solution elsewhere - it requires that you install a new ROM that's already been rooted. Apparently only Sanei N78 distributions earlier than 2013 can be rooted. Later ones can't.

Thanks for the information. I'll try it.

i would suggest you swing over to the techknow.me forums and check there u may be able to root using the uberizer tool that they have for a10 and a13 devices. I can verify that it works because i used it to root my Sanei N91

I received a sanei n79 on 4.1.2.. I also was wondering on how to root so i googled a bit and came across a website SRSdotcom/support and scrolled threw the list till i found my device. I used the SRS one click root tool and it rooted my device. It installed superuser without a hitch. Now my only question is if they are any roms for this device.. or how can i take out some of the preloaded apps

Disabling OTA updates after pre-rooted ICS update

If, like me, you're one of those persons who used S.onyTablet.S v3.4 [ALLinONE] to update your firmware to a pre-rooted ICS 4.0.3 and lost ADB support afterwards, but are tired of the nagging notification telling you there's an update, do the following:
Use your favorite file explorer app to navigate to /system/app/ and simply rename "Automagic.apk" to something like "Automagic.apk.bak". This will disable those notifications and give you the option of undoing it later-on (remove the ".bak" you placed on the name) WITHOUT using ADB.
Gotta thank condi for the solution to my problem 'cause i actually took the fix right out of his tool's coding, so thanks man!

If you installed and used Condi's UMS inSD and UMS exSD scripts, that may be your problem. After using the USB Mass Storage scripts, I lost use of ADB. I solved the problem by turning on USB debugging, connecting my tablet to my computer via USB, then selecting "Connect as Media Device (MTP)" found at Settings > Storage. I have to do this each time I use the scripts. It appears the UMS scripts interfere with the computer's or ADB's ability to detect devices.
I lost ADB support to...
EDIT: problem solved.
I have just reinstalled the driver manually.

I actually haven't used them. The problem is that before ICS, device manager only recognized "Sony tablet S", but now there's also a "Sony_tablet" that has no drivers associated with it and if i try to install the same drivers i used originally... ERROR... so yeah, i've had to manage myself without adb... THE PAAAAAAAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my case, it just reinstalled the same drivers and stayed with the same problem; sad thing is that the costumer took the tablet already so i can't keep testing possibilities.
I lost ADB support also, I also used the tool supplied with Condis program for mounting internal or external memory, I left the wrong one mounted and this stopped the ADB working, I was connecting via USB but I nothing showed.. I eventually after changing the storage mounting option back it worked.
PS to Condi: A little note when connecting to AIO tool to remind people to put the storage into the correct mode would help dzięki za twoją pomoc! :-D

[Q] Devil's circle on andorid 2.2

Hi there, xda members!
I have a really simple problem, (and yes, i have founded soultions in other post), but i came to realize that is more complicated then i thought.
So here is the basic problem:
- I have Zpad tablet, with android 2.2.
- I want to download files, photos, video, ANYTHING from the internet: My tablet says: You dont have an SD-card inserted.
(now, you have to know, virtually there is neither PLACE nor PORT for sd-card in my tablet)
- Ok, there is no SD-card, i will download it to the internal storage. My tablet says: You dont have permission to the internal storage.
- Ok, so i came here to Xda, and searched for fixing the lacking SD card. The solution says: I must create a virtual SD card...
- Ok, i followed the steps of creating a virtual SD card, on my tablet. My tablet says: You need a root acces to do this.
- Ok, i need a root access, so i came here to Xda, and searched for the solution of getting root on my Tablet.
- Xda says: i must use z4root app. to get root access to my tablet.
- Ok, i searched for z4root in market, i not found it in the market, so searched in google, and (gues what..) i found an alternative place to download z4root, to get root access to my tablet.
- Ok, i started the download of z4root. My tablet says: You dont have an SD-card inserted.
BOOOOOOMM!!!!!!! And i'm at the first step AGAIN. Now this is what I call "the devil's circle"
If you have any idea, i would appreciate it!
A simple android tablet user, from Hungary.
ciao!
1. download the z4root apk to your pc
2. enable usb debugging on your tablet
3. install the z4root app to your tablet through ADB (or you can use qtADB or DroidExplorer too)

Thanks for your fast answer !
But the problem still going on!
I tryed to install z4root with ADB, but unfortunately ADB can't see my tablet.
I've searched in several threads for solution. The solution says: i must use the proper driver for my tablet. I have installed the correct driver, but ADB still not seeing my tablet. where is the problem?
Another thing to be mentioned: in my tablet options i'm not able to turn off the DEBUG mode, de turn off switch is grey. WHY??

[Q]how to root your droid razrm

first off I would like to say sorry if this is in the wrong area but since I am a new member the boards are not allowing me to post a reply for technical support in the respective thread that it belongs.
this post is in regards to Dan Rosenberg's one click root for droid attix, droid RAZR, etc...
it can be found HERE
I tried rooting my phone but it failed at installing root. it installed the su.apk but when I run the program after my phone restarted it sends a message about not having any binaries and it cannot download any. on further examination to check if my phone had been rooted I found out it had not been rooted. so some technical stuff about my phone and PC and methods I had tried.
phone:
USB debugging is enabled.
Motorola Droid RAZR M
jellybean 4.1.2
phone USB connection set to MTP
PC:
Windows XP
Motorola droid USB driver package installed(variation tried clockwork USB driver package)
windows media player 11 installed
no firewalls or virus protection installed windows firewall disabled
there is not much else I can explain besides the fact everything went well and it installed SU but in the .bat it said failed after it said rooting.
I wonder if there is something I'm missing or a step I missed any support or recomendations are welcome and supported I am willing to work with you to get a solution.
thanks and much love to you at xda.
the error it seems I'm getting is that adb may not be working or it might be another issue? its failing to copy files and failing to find directorys on the phone

Hipstreet HS-7DTB26-4GB | Point me in the right direction to root

First I'd like to point out that I found this forum doing searches and came across this post since I do not have the privilege of posting in that area I am reaching out here.
I am trying to root my Hipstreet Titan + (HS-7DTB26-4GB) however none of the usual tools (Tasselhof's Root, 1 Click Root and others) and all of them indicate that my device cannot be found.
This is across 3 computers, Windows 7 32/64bit and Windows 8 32bit.
I've downloaded the Google developer tools and loaded some drivers, while Windows recognizes the device as a ADB /Android Original ADB interface none of these programs connect. I even tried some alternative drivers that make the tablet appear as a Samsung phone to no avail.
In the past I would load files into a memory card, boot the device into the recovery mode and would be able to get the device rooted like that but I am not finding anything at all about this particular tablet, the closest is the original link I've provided.
What should my next course of action be?
Thank you,
SR

2 days later, I'm still not having any luck.
Tried every driver I can find, some are accepted and show the tablet as a ADB device, other do not work.
I cannot be the first to have a tablet that is not picked up by all these tools available - any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Download Links will be provided at the end of this post ! I/we are not responsible for any harm or damage done to your device during the process of rooting it. If it fails and bricks, that's your fault. I've successfully rooted mine and it was easy.
If you get an error during the rooting process that said "adb server is out of date killing adb server didn't ack" or something like that, there is a way to fix it. Open Task Manager on your PC and try closing adb.exe and restarting it, or just Google the error and you will most likely find a way.

Do this root apply to the s8-50F ?
EDIT: This method indeed does work on the S8-50F variant. Was having problems with device staying in adb while running program, but a reboot of pc fixed that and gained root effortlessly. THanks!
Glad It Helped !!!

The download isn't working for me. It's not downloading as a zip? Any suggestions?
If youre using windows, download a program called 7-zip and downoad the file. right click the root software and click extract here. or open with 7-zip. You could also use winrar. The format of the file is in .7z right ? that means search up http://www.7-zip.org/
Any idea how to unroot?

Thanks both of you. I ended up returning it, root and all, but I'm sure your suggestion would have worked.
After rooting, has there been anything anybody's been able to do about battery life? I don't imagine there's been any Roms built for this device yet, but didn't know if maybe someone's figured out something that's helped extend their battery life, because when playing certain games like clash of clans for instance, I'm lucky to get an hour and a half of game play, and that's with my brightness turned all the way down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This root guide works on s8-50f! thanks Xakep
This is a very easy and usefull root instruction, i rooted my tab s8-50f with no problems.
I followed the steps described and got instant root without any issues.
My machin is windows pc with windows 8.1 pro 32bit. Plug your tab and windows recognized the drivers just make sure your device mngr shows lenovo s850 and you are all set. Then just run the flash tool and it will run in less than a minute your tablet will reboot and your tab will be rooted.
Yes this is probably the easiest I've ever rooted any device in the past. If at first it doesn't take, don't worry it will. Just repeat the process till it does. Thanks Hash.h for putting up this thread and passing along the info

Where can I download the ADB drivers for S8-50 from?
I think drivers come with tablet. Try to connect the tablet and it will show CD drive on which is the driver.
error: device offline?
I followed this with no luck. I have adb installed and running "adb devices" shows the tab connected, but when I run the tool "error: device offline" scrolls repeatedly and no root.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Worked great. Thank you.

Tried on another computer and succeeded.
This worked brilliantly...
but then I upgraded my firmware using the in-built system and it de-rooted. Now the exe no longer works.
New firmware is S8-50F_S000200_150121_ROW
Exe -appears- to run well, but appears to fail on the last command. Unfortunately it disappears off the screen before I can check the exact nature of the error. It appears to go fine until the final attempt to copy the SU binary into place fails with a 'File not found' error.
I've also tried the other method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/guide-lenovo-s850-row-t2927400
The flashtool fails to find the device (I know the drivers are installed), so I'm unable to install the new boot image.
ADB shell fails
mount -o remount,rw /system
with the response
mount: Operation not permitted
so none of the 'push' operations will complete as the /system folder is read-only.
Any suggestions?
