Root access gone after flashing 6.1.1.B.1.54 - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

1) I had xperia U firmware 6.1.1.B.1.10 .
2) I rooted my my xperia U with flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1933985
It was rooted perfectly.
3 ) Later on, I used flashtool to upgrade flash my phone to 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware
using this --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2075526
But, now when I am opening Titanium Backup or other application. I see the message no root access found!
I saw in some thread that adding some files helped restore root access...
Please advise...

You lose root when you flash stock ftf.

Re-root if you have your bootloader locked... or use a kernel if unlocked...

When you flashed new firmware, the whole system folder was replaced with new one.It did not have su binary needed for superuser to run.So you lost root access.
Just flash 6.1.1.b.1.10 kernel, root with bin4ry or flashtool and then flash back 6.1.1.b.1.54 kernel. You will be rooted again.

Kernal vs Firmware confusion...

I am just new(noob) so making double sure.
I got kernal from here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028139
Kernal are only around 5 Mb?
I need to use flashtool as given here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2075526
1)But just use B.1.10 kernal FTF(5Mb) instead of full firmware first
2) then root ..
3) Then again use flashtool and do it for B.1.54??
Any step by step link please if I am wrong ?

Downgrade to 2.3

Hey guys,
i want to downgrade my Sony Ericsson Xperia neo V to Gingerbread, cause i don't like the ICS. Is there a chance to downgrade the Phone? I can't find a Original 2.3 Rom to install it..
Can anyone help me?
Via Wotan Server, but it will cost you 2 euros or flash this version via Flashtool. https://rapidshare.com/#!download|1...266662|R~2C3B93AFF3A3AA8419FBFA1C02642EB2|0|0
Here is how i did it for my NEO-V , please be cautious while selecting the files .
There may be other ways to downgrade, but i did it following ways.
1. Get the tft file - Choose for flashable 42
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19808360&postcount=3
Then extract the tft file into firmwares folder in the flashtool menu.
2. Flash the tft with help of flash tool. Check wipe cache, Wipe User Data. , Uncheck all others.
3.Now your phone has 4.0.2.A.0.42 Raw generic firmware .
4. Reboot into phone.
5. set usb debugging on
6.Start Flashool, advance, root and then Force zergRush , Reboot system.
For more info look here zergRush Exploit -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
7. Install in your device CWM for bootloader lock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364509
8. Phone is rooted now and now you have option
8.1 OTA to get firmware 62. (Don't modify anything before update .62 )
8.2 Choose the appropriate ROM & Kernel for neo from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446308
8. Reboot your phone. Its on 4.0.2.A.0.62 GB
ENJOY
Please read the above steps carefully and do at your own risk.
Refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1468866 for more information.

Can't update .62 over OTA after rooting .42 on Neo, HELP!

Greetings all, I wanted to root my Xperia Neo whose bootloader was unlocked. I flashed it with .42 firmware using flashtool and then rooted it with DoomLord toolkit, uninstalled all bloatwares using titnium backup and then relocked my bootloader. At the end I tried update to .62 over OTA but it fails Update center downloads the firmware properly but when it fails to install on my Neo. What should I do? please help
Thanks in advance..

just download a .62 ftf and flash it.. dont bother about the OTA..
nicks25:
Flash version .42
Root via Doomlord's method
KEEP THE PHONE SW UNTOUCHED!
Make OTA update to version .62
Now you can remove bloatware.

and after that unlock your BL and root it by flashing superuser.zip trough CWM.
@CZMagic thanks buddy, it worked. and before I read my answers here on this forum, I had already done the process said by u.
The mistake I was doing was that I altered .42 firmware by removing bloatwares first and then I was doing OTA update for .62 firmware.
that's wrong way.
So if somebody facing the same problem, kindly do the following,
1> flash .42 firmware ( latest flashtool version might not read this firmware, so I used some old version v6.x.x )
2>Then do Rooting by DooMLord method
3>Re-lock the bootloader
4>update firmware to .62 over the OTA
5>install titanium backup from market which is free or get root explorer from 4shared freely
6> Uninstall the bloatware, All done!
P.S: Hit the thanks button

flashing .62 FW with flashtool loses the root access duh, but OTA doesn't. That's why OTA is recommended..

[Q] how to root xperia u new firmware???

i just flash the xperia firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54. but when i try to root with flashtool and bin4ry it doesn't work.
somebody help!!!! no fun using my phone without root. thanks in advance
To root flash v .10 kernel and then try with flashtool. Then switch to. New kernel.
Or
flash kernel with recovery, flash root package in recovery and then flash stock kernel back
Sent from my ST25i using Tapatalk 2
You should update to C.0 it has got all problems fixed the .54 has tethering problems
This shows you to get the version C.0 on your Xperia U. This also enables root on your phone .
Do this:
Download the flashtool if you aint got it: http://androxyde.github.com/
Download the ICS C.0 from here: https://hotfile.com/dl/182433042/18e...obile.ftf.html
Download the kernel of B.10 from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?tbswbbl4an5ip8z
Download the kernel of C.10 from here : http://www.mediafire.com/?c9mdhuvkpwdqttf
Download the Bin4ry root ( V13 only ) : LINK
Now the steps
1) Install Flashtool in C:
2)Conpy and paste the ftf of C.0 in C:/Flashtool/Firmwares
3)Open flashtool and connect your device then click flash then next then follow the instructions
4)After all is done start ur phone and set it up
**************If you want to root then go down otherwise finished****************
5)Flah the kernel the of B.10 to the phone. You will need to copy the B.10 files to firmwares
6)Root using Flashtool or Bin4ry. Its easy just follow the onscreen instructions
7)Flash the kernel of C.10 and all done
8)Start the phone
***********************************
Hit thanks if I ve helped you in any way

Wrong section buddy......
once you install .10 kernel over .54 there is some blackout...... but you have to root it and then flash back the .54 kernel and it will be back to normal..........

Otherwise i 've to flash the phone with the entire B.1.10 .ftf stock?

I think you just need to persevere. I took me about 4 hours to get my Sony Sola to root with the above instructions, really hard work as the phone is nigh on unusable after flashing with 6.1.1.B.1.10 .
First Time I did it every thing seemed to go fine, I selected the backup on the Sola as promoted by Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry and restarted, then re flashed with 6.1.1.B.1.54 but it wasn't rooted.
I did it all again, but for the next few hours the backup restore would not appear on my phone screen, I would just get a black screen and occasionally i would be able to power off (i say occasionally as after flashing with 10, hardly anything works on the phone, and the touch screen never works), other times i had to use the volume done button and power button to re-start the phone, then would have to get it to start up without booting - just going into the charge screen - so i could eventually power it down to re-flash with 54!
Any way after doing the process over, and over again for about 4 hours, i gave up. Tried again the next morning and it worked first time! I didn't even have to select to restore the back up, or power off on the phone, it all seemed to do it for me!
Just keep trying hopefully you will get there.:good:
1.Try to reflash whole ICS ftf, around 500MB.Means install ICS again,or repair your phone using Sony PC Companion
2.After finish, download these three things http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029756
3.Go to computer/local disk c/flashtool,then drivers,install drivers,choose Xperia P,U,sola drivers and fastboot,flashmode
4.After finished installing drivers reboot your computer
5.After reboot flash .10 firmware using flashtool
6.Root using Bin4ry's method
7.You should see Supersu app in app drawer
7.At last flash .54 firmware
8.Done.
Hope this method help.
