I just got my one today, I was all excited to set the phone up and get all of my apps and things on it. I finally got it home, and went to connect it to my router, only to find out it's apparently incompatable with my WEP encryption? is there any way around this?
Every time I attempt to connect via WPS, it gives me an error saying WEP is not supported.
Edit: It seems to be a WPS related problem, I entered the password manually and it worked fine.
You need to get off wep asap! Might as well be open. Wep is very insecure. Can crack it in just a few minutes. Wpa2 is what you need to be on.

wep is not secure, i suggest you use wpa2 encryption as above

Is there an app that finds the password of any wifi router? Because some people forgot their password and cannot get on their wifi... I know there's a way for routers named tomson etc. but some people made their own password... Is there an app to get that password?
You mean you don't have a router, but you find an secured WiFi network, and you want to "hack it"
If it's secured by WEP, that can be easy to override and get an password. But not on the phone!
Because you can't make the WiFi card on phone go to monitor mode. And you can't get packets needed to crack network.
If you have an laptop/PC WiFi Card you can do something. Of course if you can...
But this is not forum about wifi cracking
Penetrate Pro could help you ;-)

U're card need not hafta go into monitor mode to crack a WEP.
It'd be much more than sufficient if captures teh packets ...
Windows OS doesnot support monitor mode too .. but don't forget , u can still crack WEP using Windows ..
i now am using vegan, and i configured eveything many times on the g tab and it will not connect to my router. i restarted, downloaded the rom again, went back to tnt(it worked) then back to vegan and does not work.
i had tnt and it worked perfectly with my wifi, i have my mac address in my router. using wep, but i have tried open, even reconfigured my router.
it shows obtaining forever almost- then sez disconnected.
if i configure staticly it will show the antenna at the top, but still wont browse the net.

Just a suggestion?
I think the issue may be with WEP. Try using a different wireless security format instead of WEP, try WPA2 Personal or something other than WEP.
EG: I have my router security set to only allow certain mac addresses (as you did). I have it broadcasting on a channel that is not used by default (Ch6 - 9).
because other people around me don't care about that that makes for a lot of extra noise making it difficult for the router to diiferentiat between signals it can hear. Security set to WEP2Personal and I have network mode set to N only.
My GTAB connects almost instantly everytime coming out of sleep or upon boot up.
I have had problems conencting to WEP networks with Vegan as well. My wife who used TnT Lite doesn't have any problems with WEP. I use WPA at home and it works fine. WEP is pretty low security anyway (any more it's like being open), if you can you should be using WPA or WPA2. Also, make sure your router is configured for the MAC address of your tablet and that Vegan didn't change the MAC address to something you haven't configured your router for.
i just tried wpa and wpa2 personal etc. and it worked, but now my vista compu doesnt want to connect to wpa. so i cannot do it.
my router is a netgear with modem in one. i think it was a freebee that comcasst kicked in years ago. the firmware is specific comcast, so not all the settings are available.
but i tried and tried to get all my wireless working, and no go.
so vegan cannot be used with wep??? true or false?
if so ill go back to tnt i guess.....???
though i did feel vegan was a tiny bit faster...
It is a good thing that you couldn't use WEP.
WEP is as easy to break into as a high school gym locker and should be avoided at all costs. You might as well leave the connection open if you are not using some verison of WPA.
That being said, I had no problems connecting to a local WEP wi-fi network with VEGAn.
Suggestion:
Dole out some extra fins and get a new router..
I can only guess wep doesn't play well with the gtab.
i am still interested if anyone has wep with vegan?
im saving for a router now.
any suggestions on a comcast cable router modem in one.??
My suggestion is to use the wpa. Your vista computer can connect to it, you probably just need to work on the configuration.
it might be a bit of a hassle, but once you get everything going on wpa everything should run smooth....
So, i'm at a hotel in Branson. They have wifi with wep. Out of the 4 wifi enabled devices I brought, only the gtab is not connecting. It should also be noted that I never have trouble connecting the gtab to wpa networks.
Just thought everone might wanna know.
All of a sudden, I cannot access WPA2 networks on wifi anymore. WEP networks work fine. My school's WEP network conebut when I try to connect to a WPA2 network, here's what happens:
1. phone connects successfully.
2. open browser
3. attempt to load google/yahoo/cnn/bing
4. loading inevitably fails
Does anyone have the same problem? Any proposed fixes?
Wolfbreak's CM ROM. BB58. THANKS!
Hey,
I'm having major problems with wifi on my x10. Yesterday, the phone suddenly couldn't access the internet over my home wifi network, which has a WPA2 personal passphrase. The phone still showed up as connected to the network, but could not get online. I reflashed my x10 with SEUS twice, reformatted my memory card, triple checked my router settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get WPA2 personal keys to work. WEP keys work perfectly. Does anyone have the same problem? Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!
For a lot of custom roms, the ability to automatically connect to WPA- and even some WEP-encrypted networks is a challenge, and not many people seem to know the specific reason for it.
A lot of people have been using a free app from the Market called Blade Wifi Fix, which has mixed results (I haven't had it work for me, but it does for other people).
The fix I use is to disable Wifi, then re-enable it, wait for it to show Disabled on my wifi access point, then choose it and press connect. That usually works for me. But again, that's just for me.
Because of low signal, I'm trying to set up an older netgear Dgnd3300 router as a repeater to my current router (Netgear 3700). I set it up ok except for the following:
I can easily set up a connection to the internet router using WPA2. No big deal.
Without any encryption I was able to set everything to the repeater, which is connected to the Internet. I was able to use the Net.
When trying to set up encryption to the repeater, I am only able to use WEP. However, I can never get a connection. My prime (and laptop) keep telling me that it's obtaining an IP address; but it never does. I made sure the WEP codes were entered properly and exactly. I still cannot get a connection.
My solution was to only allow my prime (and laptop) access to the repeater and to deny any other mac access. There is no encryption. I have the net. When I do not allow access, for example, to my laptop, it tries to connect but never gets a connection. It does when I once again allow access.
My question. Is this procedure safe and secure? Or should I start searching for a solution (I tried looking for the WEP solution but didn't get very far).

That is neither safe nor secure. MAC address spoofing is easy. If someone makes their device use the MAC address of your Prime, then they have access to your network.
Back to the drawing board. Also, I'd avoid WEP too.

Mac addresses filtering is easy to detect; even easier to bypass since every packet sent between you're router and the tablet contains both the mac address of the router and the mac address of the tablet.
Well, that answers my question. Thanks, everyone. Back to stage one.

So my WiFi has been working fine on my prime connecting to any network till yesterday. I went to work, connected to the WiFi network, everything working fine. Then I disconnected from the network and tried to reconnect and it wouldnt connect. All I get is it saying obtaining ip address. I went to my girls after work, same issue there, sees the network but all I get it obtaining ip address and it never goes past that. It does connect to my sensation hotspot though. I hard reset it, even factory reset it and still have the issue...any ideas?

Ever try resetting the router?
I would never have reset over it.. not without rebooting routers/modems first and it sounds like you didnt try this. I get this issue now and then - rare - and a router reboot always fixes it. I never have to resort to drastic stuff like phone or tablet resets. The fact it can talk to your phones hotspot - not router related - even more signals to the router as first place to look.

I agree....this will work for when he's at his "girl's", but the bigger problem is the office network. That can't be rebooted at will.
Best suggestion I have is to go into the Adanced mode, and where an option "modify Network"...choose that....sometimes just hitting SAVE works, sometimes I re-enter the WEP key and hit save.
In worst case, you could say "forget network" and try starting from scratch....
Good luck,
Bob
You sure your work doesn't do any sort of MAC filtering? Maybe something adaptive?
