[Q] Push OTA to Droid DNA Possible? - HTC Droid DNA

Hi guys,
I am a Verizon customer currently studying abroad in Australia... I have a STOCK Droid DNA and wanted to get the OTA without rooting while in Australia - is there any way to push it to the phone using ADB?
Yes I have googled it, yes I saw some posts saying it needed to be connected to VZW CDMA etc... I just figure asking is worth a shot and nothing is impossible.
In addition, am I really missing much? The only complaints I have with this rom are the current annoyances with WiFi drops on select networks and your occasional "Preparing SIM" message. I wont be back in the US until xmas just thought I'd get some opinions.
Thanks for all your help!

Have you had any luck with this issue?

I'm guessing your on sense 4 wanting to know about sense 5. Yes theres a huge deference. Yes you have to be on cdma. Although you can soff and flash a stock based rom.

[Q] sprint roaming problem they blame phone...

I recently called sprint via line2 on wifi about how I no longer get Verizon roaming (I make a phone call and a verizon message pops up saying can't auth code) when in northern Pennsylvania but I used to before I got s-off and flashed gbsense deck rom .2 I called sprint they blamed my phone but I flashed rooted latest update to my moms Evo shift she's having the same problem any ideas guys(and girls)?
I'm kind of confused but it sounds like you want to roam on a Verizon tower and now that you can't you cannot make any calls? As for the Sprint rep don't worry about it unless your talking to advanced tech support they really don't know what their talking about and usually just don't have the correct answer. It sounds like when you were on deck's sense rom you got better coverage maybe because the rom had an updated radio and your stock rom had an outdated radio...not sure, have you tried flashing the latest radio to your phone? Also try a data profile update followed by a PRL update on your phone when inside your home and see if that helps your signal.

the solution is to have adv tech support reprogram your phone...
I don't want to reprogram or turn my phone in so my mom is ditching root and giving it in
Reprogramming your phone takes just a few minutes your don't have to turn your phone in

LOL just call sprint and tell them you are getting error code 16 when you try to dial out which in turn they will re-provision your phone takes all of 2 mins.
Sorry im kinda noob at this whole thing thank you so much for not being a bunch of a holes about this cause my mom wouldn't stop bothering me about not getting service you guys were SO much help thank you ffor you're time everybody (im also new to the forums)
I had the exact same issue a couple of days after rooting. As previous poster said just call sprint and tell them your getting error 16. Re provision does the trick.
yep had the same problem after s-off....just call and ask to have your phone reset on the network.
after a battery pull you will get roaming again.

Where are the radios?

Where are the radio choices for this phone? are there any? i havent seen one!
My friend has had the photon for a while and he has always complained about dropping calls, or sms's not going through, I just got done rooting and unlocking it, flashed CM7 and he said it is worst. Anyone out there got some suggestions?
What version build is on the phone?
Google talk me for help or question. @ [email protected]
well, im not exactly sure what was origionaly on it but I know it was 2.3.4,
but now it has "[KANG][ROM] CM7.2 by Photon Dev team 4-23-2012" on it.
Hmm, is he using it with sprint or another carrier like cricket?
I would just flash him back to stock have sprint update his profile and prl.
And if everything is fine flash custom roms.

Be careful letting sprint update your phone. Once you update to 2.3.5 you will be stuck with a locked bootloader till someone figures out how to unlock it. The basebands (radio) currently used by most roms is the one from 198_7 which is 2.3.4. As far as I know there are only 3 basebands for the photon and none of them make that much of a difference in reception if any at all. Currently 198_7 is your golden ticket for any kind of xda support.

Been using KANG CM7.2 since the beginning on a non sprint network in India. Never had a problem. The rom is almost stable. 99%... And i neither had an issue with the network data nor call drops.
There's a network selection option in
Settings -> Wireless and networks -> Mobile networks -> Network Preference right ??
I have a photon on Verizon and I get 1-3 bars in my basement and once in a while I drop a call but when I leave the basement I get 3+ bars ALL the time. Are you sure you or your friend has strong signal at all ( if possible try another sprint phone).

The photon has one of the best, if not the best radio of all sprint phones. Unless he is in a bad area for sprint then I don't know what to tell ya.

Updating the PRL and Profile is totally different from updating (upgrade) to 2.3.5.
I see the point of the suggestion to update profile/prl, it can make a difference in call/reception quality.
For those who are concerned about going back to stock for profile/prl updates there is another way. When on rooted stock use an app such as TiBu and freeze the upgrader/updater apk's. Then create a nandroid backup. If you need to go back to 198_6 or 7 for whatever reason you are safe.
My MoPho's in the kitchen sink!!
Well looks like hes SOL, when he first got it I did update the prl and profile and it didnt do much. Figured a custom rom would help. But his photon is on sprint, and his girl has the same exact phone and she has all the same exact problems he has. Like droped calles, and also the phone became very sluggesh over time, one of the worst phones i've ever used, and i've used at least 15 or 20 different android phones on all 4 major carriers foor a substantial amount of time. Sorry to say it, but its just my opinion. So... I think its just a bad area concidering the evidence. But anyway, hes been away for a few days and I cant get to the phone so I can't check anything. Thanks for the reply's though.

[Q] Getting a Droid Razr on a regional carrier, and have a few questions...

Alright, so I'm not new to Moto android devices. I'm currently stuck with a regional carrier (nTelos), and I had a few questions before I upgrade.
My choices are narrow, but they updated their devices not too long ago when I last checked, and the Razr Maxx was one of the choices I can upgrade to.
My main question is this. My carrier doesn't support LTE, and on my Droid X I was fine when I flashed roms to it, because none of them touched the radio, so I was alright to use the roms that were really made for Verizon phones. I know for a fact however that the LTE radio has been either removed/disabled in the variant of the Razr I will be picking up, so I am wondering if I flash to an AOKP build once I pick up my Razr if it will touch my radio and mess with the configuration? I may be asking kind of a dumb question, but it's a big thing for me because I go to college out of state, and I'd have to ship the phone back and be phoneless for up to a week.
Help a noob out? :silly:

anyone?
I don't think it'll make much of a difference, XT912 as well has a few roms, the radio will be untouched if you are installing any custom roms.
I'm not sure if it will affect your radio. Make sure you backup your stock rom. If you use Safestrap, you'll be able to basically install other roms on top of your stock rom, so if your new rom doesn't work, you should just be able to quickly switch back to your stock rom by rebooting your phone. Additionally, it's probably worth mentioning that in the roms I've tried, there are options to change which types of networks you connect to, and if you're concerned, you could just tell your phone not to connect to LTE/4G (assuming the radio still works... I don't know much about how that works, but I think your phone would still work fine).

[Q] LTE Connectivity on Vzw G4S

I recently purchased a new Samsung Galaxy 4S for use on the Verizon network. I immediately installed Odin / CWP and flashed a couple of different ROMs to see which I might prefer. The issue I'm needing help with is that even when I select the network mode as LTE/CDMA I only seem to be getting the 3G wording in my cell's display. The phone has a 4G SIM card but to my knowledge none of this should be having an ill effect on the phones ability to connect to 4G. Any advice or suggestions?
Get a new SIM from Verizon. Myself and a handful of others have experienced this issue of the phone preferring EVDO over LTE.

Thank you for the response. I have an additional question then.. if I go into a Verizon store with my phone, now obviously rooted and customized, will I be denied this service? This is my first time not keeping the phone entirely stock so I'm unfamiliar with the legalities associated with such a thing.

Most don't care and pretend to not notice. Or they'll laugh and geek out with you. I wouldn't go in with anything AOSP based though. Choose something that looks close to stock. It's not likely they'll check your recovery. If you're that paranoid about it though, then just flash to stock but keep custom recovery. When you're finished in the store then restore a backup of your current preference.

Nah, all your asking for is a sim update. I work in mobile phones myself, and I love having convos with customers about their rooted phones and mods all the time.
I am having the same issues. I went in today on liquidsmooth and got a new sim no problem.. Only thing is, my phone still has the connectivity issues
I got a new SIM card from a Vzw store and now everything works great.

Version g3 firmware update

http://www.android.gs/new-lg-g3-android-4-4-2-update-for-verizon-users-enhances-device-performance/
It might "enhance device performance" some, but it sure seems to re-lock the boot loader so Bumped flashes no longer will work.
Looks like owners interested in non-stock firmware should avoid this update. Looks like Verizon users should avoid the LG G3 altogether, or switch to T-Mobile.

Looks like people needed to delete their system update app off their phone after they rooted and bumped, but never did for some reason. Live and learn I guess
But you couldn't pay me to switch to t-mobile. Their service is awful where I live. Its cheap, but you get what you pay for.
People should just be patient though. The dev's will figure a workaround soon
All true and I am fortunately safe. I rooted with Stump to be able to freeze with TiBackupPro and made sure to freeze anything that could force an update from Verizon, because I am a long-long time grandfathered Unlimited Data customer. Now I can check, see there is an update, and ignore it happily.
I remember, with my first smartphone a Droid3, Verizon was able to get Motorola to produce an OTA that did very little except keep owners from being able to ever go back to the previous firmware. Might have been to keep owners from unlocking to use the Droid3 on US T-Mobile or ATT GSM...

What does having unlimited data have to do with freezing VZW updates? You realize it is the plan and not your phone that determines the amount of data, right?
I just rooted ioroot, went to System Update app in app manager and all I eas able to do was force stop. Not even able to disable(greyed out).
Also, I noticed choppy behavior on some lwps. Does that have anything to do with rooting or just need to keep getting rid of bloat.
Not sure which deodexed rom to use. Any suggestions? Trying to use Rom Tookbox to customize.
Thank you to all of you.
Rich
*update- I just froze System Update via Rom Toolbox... I am curious what happens on their end when the update is not accepted.. Prob best to just wait a week or so, unroot, update, re-root.
I still don't know where the root checker is to see if it goes back to 0 before I update; nor can I locate the secret menu # to dial. for VS98510B

If I could no longer root this phone, or could no longer hope for development on it, I would need a different device to use with my grandfathered Verizon plan.
Prior to getting the LG G3, I was still using a collection of Verizon Galaxy Nexus. If the G3 gets "updated" by Verizon to the point where it's no longer possible to develop for, I may have to get rid of it and find a phone that will both use Verizon data, at least, and still be more open. Like the Motorola Nexus6, except it's too big and too expensive, for me.
