Another user in this forum had made a suggestion for what they did to receive the ability to reject the 2.06 update while on stock, non - rooted, locked, S-ON. I followed the same steps and was presented the "Reject" option as well.
When the update notification appeared and presented the option for OK or Defer, I have been selecting Defer. This time I selected OK. I immediately powered down the handset, then started up again. When the phone was fully booted up, a new notification appeared, but this time it included the option to Reject. I selected Reject, and it said "Download Canceled" and directed me to go to the software update menu if I wanted to apply the update.
That's it, no more complicated than that, and hopefully I won't get the nag screen for the update again. I'd be glad to hear from the others who have done this - has the update screen reappeared eventually, or does this seem to be a permanent fix?
Thanks to those who shared their experience and told how they did this, it certainly wasn't my idea.

I tried this twice, didn't have the same results.
Clicked the OK instead of defer, held down the power button to shut down the phone, and when it rebooted I didn't get any update notification.
The next day the notification was back, still without reject.
Finally, I just went into settings and did an update check, and when the update notification popped up reject was listed as an option.
I will update this if the notification shows up again on it's own.

Good call. I just booted up a second DNA on 2.04, and went to Software Update --> Check New. The notification immediately showed up with the opportunity to Reject. Woot!

At first I thought my problems stemmed from an update with WidgetLocker. However, I uninstalled that and the problems persist.
Description of problem:
So I boot the device to the lock screen.
I unlock the phone and all I see is my background with the taskbar at the top. No icons. I can't interact with anything. After a few seconds the screen goes dim and times out. Even if I touch the screen to keep this from happening.
I hit the power button to turn the screen back on. No response. I wait 30 seconds or so and it turns back on. I am greeted with "xxxx process/program has stopped responding do you want to force quit, wait, or send a report" (whatever program happens to be up, doesn't seem to matter, all programs cause this to happen). If I hit force quit the program still hangs. If I hit "wait" the program starts working. This isn't a very repeatable event in that sometimes when I turn the screen back on instead of the "force quit" screen I get the background with taskbar.
While all this is going on I am still receiving status updates, emails, texts, etc. Sometimes I can get to the point where icons appear on my homescreen but if I tap a program's icon the screen just freezes.
I have Go Launcher installed but this happens in Go Launcher or Sense.
Any ideas what is going on? So far I've:
restarted
removed battery
restarted without back on
restarted without sim card in
No luck.
I tried "restore" but after being shown green arrows and an icon of the device I immediately get an icon of the device and a red exclamation in a triangle.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to avoid a hard reset.
I would run the RUU. I know you don't want to wipe, but I would back up your data as best you can and wipe it.
any recommendations for backing up? I can't really get to any apps right now.
What does RUU mean?
ROM update utility. Stock rom releases from HTC.

well
I ran the phone down to 0% battery. Restarted it and things seemed ok. But just now it is starting to hang again so going to back it up and run that RUU.
I tried the RUU but was told it could not communicate with my phone even though I had it plugged in via usb.
Instead of installing the RUU I installed one of the leaked ICS updates (official one for the rezound). Now it functions somewhat better. There is still often a long wait between pressing home while in an application and going to the home screen. Also while the screen is off, pressing the power button to turn the screen on I have to wait a good minute for the screen to come back on. Any idea what in the world is going on?
Sounds weird. Anyway, here are a couple thoughts:
When you installed the ICS leak, did you do a complete wipe of everything? If not, do it and reinstall whatever ROM you like.
Otherwise, in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik again. While you're in Recovery, it wouldn't hurt to run Fix Permissions.
HTH - Good luck!
I did a factory reset to the ics rom.
How do I clear cache and what is dalvik.
I'm going to download one of the official rezound 2.3 update toms and flash it. If that doesn't work ill take it to a Verizon store and see what they can do. It is under warranty.
I've noticed that apps function fine the problem is getting to and from the home screens. It's then that the phone freezes up for a minute or so.
Ok was going to reset phone to 2.3 but got the main version error so going to try this trick to get the main version down to where I can "upgrade" to 2.3:

Everything get worked out?
I can't get temp root to work so I can install superuser. Working on that now.
seems ICS leak has no temp root ability. I've reached the end of my road as I don't know where to go from here.
I pulled down the update this morning (finally) and now I am not getting my ring/chime when I receive a text or call. Just vibrate. And no, I'm not on vibrate... If I go into settings>sound and try to open the volume, ringtone, or default notification menus, the settings app freezes. Eventually I get a pop up asking if I want to wait or kill it. I've waited and waited and it never works. Killing it and trying again doesn't work either. Neither does a reboot. Everything else seems to work ok, from what I can tell so far. What is going on here?
Not sure if there is any relation, but as it finished up the app updates during the upgrade (I think it said starting apps) it froze. I did power + vol- to turn it off and then rebooted. Got the upgrade successful message.
Thanks for your help.
My phone froze on the exact same screen and I ended up doing the same thing. Here's the thing: From what I can tell, the phone wasn't really stuck. For some reason, it might take up to 2 hours for some people to make it past that point. So, something is running in the background, even though it is stuck.
If you perform a Power + Volume Down force shutdown, when you reboot it will eventually tell you that the install was successful. But..., everything that it needed to do wasn't really done. In my case, the only way to fix things was to perform a Factory Reset (not as scary as it really sounds). That fixed it for me.
Can't say it will work for everyone, but I do recommend it anyone who performed the forced shutdown because s/he though the phone had frozen.

Hi,
A few days ago, I updated my HTC Titan (bought in 2011 in France as a sim-unlocked device) to the official Tango update (+ firmware update) through Zune.
Then, after doing a hard reset, the usual setup assistant is displayed, but at the end of it there is a new step that wasn't there before the update (titled "Almost Done") telling me that the phone is going to launch some kind of htc specific utility in order to configure my data connection for my carrier. Then after clicking on "continue", I see a black screen for about 15 seconds (like when an app doesn't manage to load properly and WP7 kills it because it took too long to start), then the start screen appears (but I don't receive the usual fake welcome SMS from Windows Phone).
I can launch apps, but the capacitive Back button, Start button, Search button don't react (they cause the phone to vibrate, but WP doesn't react to these commands).
After shutting down the phone and restarting it, I'm greeted by the setup recovering screen (titled "Welcome Back") telling me that Windows Phone will resume my setup where I left it (that explains why the capacitive buttons don't react: they were software disabled because Windows Phone considered it was still in first setup mode. Same for the fake welcome sms I didn't receive). Of course the same problem happens again when I tap on continue, and when I restart my phone.
I tried several hard reset through the usual methods (either through the about menu, or through the menu displayed using VolUp+VolDown at startup). Still the same problem. I guess it's a bug that should happen on many Titan devices. I contacted the HTC support and they told me to send my phone back to HTC for repair
Of course Zune won't let me restore the backup because of the firmware update not longer compatible with the backup.
Did anybody have the same problem with a stock htc titan rom?
I'm also wondering what is the new "HTC Log disable" command on the "CUST APPSBL" screen? I'm sure it wasn't there before the update. Is there some kind of htc specific logging that is enabled by default (since it is a "disable" command). What is being logged?
Also, the red diode (indicating when the battery is charging) is being lit during startup, which didn't happen before the update. Does that mean something?
Hi,
It is quite normal for the new Tango ROM to display that extra HTC specific step, even though it doesn't work!
I experimented with the Titan a bit and found that as soon as the Start screen appears after setup, before doing anything else, long press the Connection setup app in the app list and uninstall it.
It will enable normal functionality.
If needed you can always download it again from Marketplace.

It happened to me too!!!
Moreover, after a hard-reset the HTC Market disappeared in the market!
I disabled the pin to the sim re-formatted, and connected to electricity, and aftew few times HTC market reappeared (!), immediately updated ALL the htc software (even the connection wizard) and everything is OK now... exept the possibility to install INSIDER (by Microsoft)... it is said that the app is not available for my device (!!!) ... I used it until yesterday on my Titan with Mango... I REALLY DO NOT KNOW

Yes, exactly the same problem happened after hard-resetting on tango. I simply waited a bit with the phone on the main menu and the softkeys not working. After a while, I received the WP7 welcome text, and the softkeys started to work again.

Hi all,
I made a new hard-reset.
As suggested by maTTeo I simply waited even with softkeys not working... I only disactivated the pin on sim so that the Titan could find an internet connection.
After receiving the SMS of woelcome on WP7, I immediately upgraded all the HTC apps
Everythings seems fine for the moment...

Hi guys I just received a notification on screen "checking for update" which never happened before and the notification went off and nothing happened. I have a doubt that the update service on my phone is borked so I am not sure whether it is a genuine update or just a random notification. So if you guys can check for update manually and see we could get an idea what's happening. I already updated weeks ago with the 249mb update so this is not that.
Happens to me all the time. Weird.
I rooted my Sprint Galaxy S7 edge running nougat earlier today with the method outlined at this website. dorylabs .com/root-qualcomm-galaxy-s7-edge-nougat
Everything seemed great and the root apps were functioning fine. I did use an uninstaller tool to remove some bloatware. it is possible that I accidentally removed a crucial file in this process I don't believe I did but anything is possible. I then left the house and had to make a call and when I attempted to make the call I got an automated voice error saying I needed to activate my phone before I could make a call. I had never gotten this error before when rooting but I decided to try and activate it through the settings menu to see if it could simply be fixed that way. After a 10 second loading screen I got an error saying that the activation had failed and that I would need to call customer service and have them activate it and then my phone immediately restarted and when it booted back up I suddenly now had signal to make calls and send texts. But no mobile data. I tried going through the settings and using the activation function again and this time I made it one step further and it would show my current usage and plan but then when I scrolled to the bottom and clicked activate it always just gives me a message saying that my session has ended. I have looked around for answers but i found nothing relevant or that made sense to me. Please help me as I am out of town and only have access to Wi-Fi and a computer where I am staying and have limited time to try and fix this.
UPDATE: I did a factory reset and nothing changed. Also I noticed all notification on the drop down from Samsung DM Service that says checking device status and tapping it does nothing and I can't swipe it to get rid of it. There is also a 2nd notification from Securitylogagent saying security notice unauthorized actions have been detected restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes which restarting does nothing.
Same issue. Though I was able to call right away. But I still cannot connect to internet via mobile data
