Please help! No mobile data after root! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my Sprint Galaxy S7 edge running nougat earlier today with the method outlined at this website. dorylabs .com/root-qualcomm-galaxy-s7-edge-nougat
Everything seemed great and the root apps were functioning fine. I did use an uninstaller tool to remove some bloatware. it is possible that I accidentally removed a crucial file in this process I don't believe I did but anything is possible. I then left the house and had to make a call and when I attempted to make the call I got an automated voice error saying I needed to activate my phone before I could make a call. I had never gotten this error before when rooting but I decided to try and activate it through the settings menu to see if it could simply be fixed that way. After a 10 second loading screen I got an error saying that the activation had failed and that I would need to call customer service and have them activate it and then my phone immediately restarted and when it booted back up I suddenly now had signal to make calls and send texts. But no mobile data. I tried going through the settings and using the activation function again and this time I made it one step further and it would show my current usage and plan but then when I scrolled to the bottom and clicked activate it always just gives me a message saying that my session has ended. I have looked around for answers but i found nothing relevant or that made sense to me. Please help me as I am out of town and only have access to Wi-Fi and a computer where I am staying and have limited time to try and fix this.
UPDATE: I did a factory reset and nothing changed. Also I noticed all notification on the drop down from Samsung DM Service that says checking device status and tapping it does nothing and I can't swipe it to get rid of it. There is also a 2nd notification from Securitylogagent saying security notice unauthorized actions have been detected restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes which restarting does nothing.

Same issue. Though I was able to call right away. But I still cannot connect to internet via mobile data

[Q] LTE Galaxy Nexus forcing GSM/WCDMA

Hi all,
This is my first thread here, but I'm not too noobish when it comes to technology. However, if I'm breaking a forum rule or you need more information, please ask.
I have a GNex with Verizon running 4.0.2. I am rooted and have flashed Clockwork Recovery and in the past flashed MIUI; however, it was a little sluggish for me and at the time I didn't have time to fiddle with it so I restored to a Nandroid backup I had created before flashing. As a side note, I haven't been able to get CWM Recovery to work correctly in the past as it will flash correctly (using the Galaxy Nexus toolkit) and I can boot into it directly after flashing, but after booting into Android, restarting, and attempting to boot into recovery it will give me the android/red triangle error. Not sure what that means, but if I need to use it I can usually boot into it without flashing.
Anyway, on to the meat of the problem here. Earlier today I took my phone off of WiFi to use LTE here (Bay Area, CA) but my phone wouldn't connect to the cellular network. Nothing I haven't seen before; I cycled airplane mode and the "data enabled" option and restarted to no avail. Upon rebooting, I got the "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" twice in a row. At this point, no bars displayed at all. Confused, I looked into Mobile Network Settings and under Network Mode it oddly stated that the preferred network mode was set to WCDMA preferred (specifically, GSM/WCDMA preferred). I can try to set it back to LTE/CDMA but it will only reset it back to GSM/WCDMA.
WiFi works, but as soon as I turn it off it will revert to the greyed out bars inside a triangle. As I type this now, there are currently two bars, but they are grey and of no use. I just tried to call someone, and the call went through, but the double "com.android.phone has stopped" dialogue box came up again
I suppose I am willing to do a stock reset, but I'd rather not due to my large amount of music, video, etc on my phone; plus, it's just no fun to throw in the towel and do a reset
Any and all help is welcome, and like I said if you need more information please ask. I googled this issue and no similar threads popped up on any forums, so I hope that if/when my issue is resolved this will serve as a guide to others who experience this issue. That is, assuming they do; my tech issues are all too often unique to my own horrendously bad luck.
gracias, dudes.
Bump since it was buried.
Now fixed with a wipe/reset. Initially I wiped/reset and restored all apps/data (including system) with Titanium Backup, but after the system data had been restored and I rebooted I encountered the same exact problem. I wiped/reset again and just let the Market redownload all my apps and the problem has since stayed away.
Any ideas on what exactly could have caused the issue, though? I'm curious.

MROM-Olympus Issues

Hello guys, I would have posted this directly to the MROM thread but I can't due to not having 10 posts....so I'm posting here and hoping somebody can help me or draw attention from someone in that thread that is running this rom. I'm having a few issues with this ROM that are leaving me unable to use my phone at times and others that are just annoying.
[ROM] MROM-Olympus [CM7] build:20130330
Problems with the Phone function:
1. The biggest problem for me is sometimes trying to dial or receive calls stops working, and you don't know this, when everything else on the phone is functioning fine. A reboot will allow the phone to be able to dial out and receive calls once again. I have not noticed any patterns ...just when I get ready to make a phone call it says "dialing" and then after a few seconds a beep and it hangs up. Also as noted when this happens I'm unable to receive calls and everyone gets my voice mail. It was doing this after a install and without anything else being installed...I do feel that it's gotten worse as in happening more often but that could just be my frustration making it seem that way.
2. Another phone issue since day one: Sometimes after dialing a number the screen goes off and pressing the power button may or may not bring the screen back on or if it does the screen comes on for a split second then goes back off. It's impossible to end a call this way or to enable speaker phone, look up contacts. When it's functioning correctly a call is made then the screen goes off when i place the phone close to my ear and comes back on when i take it away. A reboot fixes this issue usually for awhile, I've also had to take the battery out twice because the power button did nothing.
Problems with the wifi tethering function:
3. Wifi tethering works but I've noticed problems on upstream packets. On 4G the phone can hit 5-6 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up on T-mobile. I've ran test via "speedtest dot net" which they have an android app so you can test your data speed right from the phone. Now when I connect "wifi tether" my computer to it and run the test from the computer I get the 5-6 Mbps down but the upload test takes forever to start and when it does I usually get anything from 25-220 Kbps. I performed this from linux, windows and an android tablet ..all report slow upload speeds while the phone directly running the same tests get very good performance. I'm wondering if this could be a issue with the wifi driver or possible kernel issue of sorts.
I choose this rom because from what I read it was one of the most stable and everything on the phone works which is the most important thing to me.
Thanks in advance!
Happened again today, phone uptime was 17hrs. I'd made a few phone calls and received one, pulled the phone out of my pocket to make another latter and it did it's thing where it says dialing .....a few seconds then the beep like when you hangup and then back to the contacts. I checked this time the status and it showed in service and data connected. I was also able to txt and browse the internet just not make or receive calls until a reboot.

samsung note 2, out of service problem

Hi there. I thought i would pass on this helpful information mainly to do with the note 2.
A couple of days ago i was playing around on my note 2 and after a short while it rebooted it self and came back on. When it returned on
I found that i had a 0 in the signal bar and my phone would not make calls or texts nor receive them but yet still had my mobile internet working. When i went to settings-about-status the service state read Out Of Service. Completely unsure why this was i started searching XDA where i found some people were having the same problem as me with the phone but to no avail I found no cure to help.
Following this i phone my network where they advised the usual. Turn off, remove sim and reinsert. Connect to another network reconnect to my carrier and so on again all with no avail. I tried to install a custom rom even took it back to stock and again nothing.
Coming to wits end i took the inevitable chance and started wiping my phone and returned to factory settings and started removing the root and putting the phone back to complete stock to send away under warranty. So i cleared the root and just before sending had one more go at it and heres what i done to get it resolved.
Firstly i went to the dialer and typed *#0011# this bought me to the service mode menu,
Using just the left sortkey press it and click back and this bought me to the Service menu Debug screen.
Your see many options but you need to click option 8 Phone Control
Again your see many options but you only need to click option 7 Network Control
From this points your see option 3 Service Domain. Go ahead and click this.
From this menu your see 3 options CS+PS, CS ONLY PS ONLY. this is what was the problem. My phone was set to PS only so i took the risk and selected CS+PS only to all avail the signal returned and my phone cam back to life with loads of texts streaming through.
I am not really sure why this worked or what the CS or so stands for but being the fact it worked for me and after searching the internet for days seeing many people with the same problem i thought i would post here my results here and hopefully it might help some one in the same situation.
I have tried this one but still service status is out of service. I use Note N7000. Pls help. Also, I dont receive updates as device status is shown as modifed. Can anyone help pls?

LTE Data Flashing on/off

Just encountered a little problem today. From the beginning: My Note 3 was rooted/TWRP'd running Vision X 3.0. Gave my wife my new G3 and took the Note 3 back. When I wiped her data in TWRP and restored a backup (same ROM) the 4GLTE icon started flashing on and off. I wiped complete again, installed a new ROM and did the same. Then I Odin'd to the new update. Same issue. I did encounter an issue with switching the phones earlier in the day. I had to get Sprint to do it via chat due to the Note 3 not being deactivated/reactivated correctly when I tried through the site. So I am guessing it could be a bad SIM card or they muffed something during activation. It will at times stop flashing and give me full LTE, but if I reboot or shut the phone off/back on it starts flashing again and the phone gets warm. It will sometimes stop/start if I mess with Connections Optimizer too, either checking or unchecking. Appears to be trying to connect to LTE but something is preventing it from locking on. I would appreciate it if anyone that has run into this before can give me some ideas. I do have a service center in town, and will go in the AM if I cannot find a solution anywhere else. I have never encountered this before.
Also in settings for data, Mobile State flashed between Connected/Disconnected and Mobile Network Type flashes between LTE/Unknown along with the LTE icon in status bar.
Tried killing data and all that. Airplane mode etc.. Sprint service center says it may happen when updating and will calm down in a couple of days..I don't think it was the update since I didn't update until after it started.
Also failed to mention when I switch to CDMA only in Data settings it will stay on 3G and doesn't flash. Has to be an LTE issue. And it is not the towers in the area because the G3 is fine.
Since it's broke anyway, going to Odin NC5 and see what happens. Tried freezing Connections Optimizer and flashing a new Kernel but didn't work either.
EDIT: Nope. That didn't work either. Ugh
Apparently it was a Sprint issue. Had to let it ride for a day or so and now back to normal. LTE is good again. Was an issue on their end when something went wrong during the phone swap.
Had this same problem with my Galaxy Grand Prime and rebooted in safe mode and it stopped. Safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. It is a 3rd party app causing the problem. I had to turn phone off, turn back on and hold volume down button after seeing Samsung logo popup, then wait for the safe mode to appear in lower left corner and release the button. Flashing stopped after that. Turned safe mode off and its still good so far. Hope this helps someone!!

Device Secuirty: Unauthorised actions

Hi there fellow S6 edge owners.
my version of Samsung S6 Edge is Hong Kong's G9250, only got this phone two days, ago, I used to have an HTC One m7 and always rooted with custom roms, but seems like Samsung has done a great job this time, I am going to stick with stock rom for now.
Strange things happened to me after I purchase from the store and with the helpful staff from the samsung store helping me setting up this beauty. Not long later after I walk out of the store the Following message from Security Log pops up: "Unauthorised actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorised changes"
So I restart my phone, thinking it's no biggie, but the message would reoccur any time in between 30 to 2 hours, or when I am updating and installing apps as a new phone. I didn't transfer any old contents, nor having install any apk manually. The rom is stock as it can be.
So I factory reset it, and the same message would keep popping up, I scan my phone using the security app and no threats were found, but I had to restart my phone to make the notifications goes away, I start to suspect there might be something wrong with the rom itself or the kernel, so I decide to Factory reset it in under 6 hours of purchase, after booting on and signing in, the message would come up again!!
So I took it to the store, and asked them have they seen this? One of the manager said you need to cleared the app preferences and clear the credentials. I also updated the security policy myself. but still no luck. So they gave me a new one, with in 20 minutes of setting up, the message "Unauthorised actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorised changes" Comes up again.
I am just wondering if any other is experiencing any similar issues? This is getting annoying.
same issue
Im having the same issue with Australian stock.
I too am having the same issue on Australian stock. :/
I'm having the exact same issue with Hong Kong stock. Tried everything from reinstalling to clearing the app preferences.
Has anyone found a solution to this annoyance? I don't like these notifications popping up every 5 minutes!!
If youre rooted, Use TitaniumBackup and freeze "SecurityLogAgent"
it'll get rid of those popups
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Same problem
Norwegian Phone. Same problem. Notification every 5 min or so.

same problem here as well
So, I was faced with the same problem as you all above. I did a bit of research and speculate (I'm still not 100% on this) that this security bug is linked with the keyboard Samsung has preinstalled on the device. Try disabling it, using another keyboard, or just disconnecting it from any network it may use (mainly to update your dictionary regularly.)
What I did exactly:
-Reboot phone into recovery, wipe cache partition, factory reset.
-Start up phone, security threat came after a few minutes, before anything was installed.
-Restarted phone through security to reset kernel
-On startup, disabled keyboard and enabled swiftkey. Scanned, result: secure.
-Enabled keyboard, but disabled all features. No problems. Scanned, result: secure.
-Enabled features one by one, no problems yet. No problems. Scanned, result: secure.
-Reset keyboard settings. Scanned, result: secure. After a few minutes, security was triggered.
As I said, this may or may not be related, but this is the first time I've been seeing my phone as secured since I bought it.
I read somewhere that the problem is known.. and should be fixed in an update...if you are rooted you know what you have to do
Had the very same problem which disappeared with the update to 5.1.1. Have a couple of colleagues who suffered as well as the update cleared it up. Unfortunately from what I've read 5.1.1 kills the prospect of rooting without triggering Knox... Should have done more research before rushing to update...
