I could make' a million dollars showing people how NOT to do things.... 30 hours in and not even close to root... hadn't..... the bootloader laughin at my ass at this point.....Think I may exercise the 14 day return policy on this one folks but in the meantime Im dying to try out this Vanilla Rootbox Rom.... so any advice would be greatly appreciated .... I've tried pretty much and just cant get the drivers on this tab... I even hacked the tab with a jailbreak script that works on letting non windows apps exe from the desktop. cant disable driver sig. requirements in
my advanced boot settings for some screwed up reason.... just too much cant do this ... cant do that popping up on this $599 delight for all that.... I have rights!!!!! just kidding ....

it was the driver not sticking in vista..had to manually push it thru, we're all gravy tho now!

I was foolishly trying to do the hack for webtop over HDMI, and most likely messed up the files in ADB for the entertainment center.. now when I plug in the phone to the TV via the included HDMI, it won't even show the option to launch entertainment center. If anyone could help me, it would be VERY appreciated!
did you backup the files you replaced? Did you take notice of what you were doing and which files? If so just replace those off the DUMP from the SBFs.. if not then titanium backup, flash the SBF, adn start over.
Well I dont even think the files got replaced, cuz the command window kept saying it couldn't find files to even replace them with. I unrooted the phone, thinking that would solve my issue.
Did you try the steps in the thread to "undo" the webtop mod? If so, best bet at this point is just SBF back..
Those won't work for me. :/ and could you please help me with flashing the SBF? Would that fix my problem? I really dont want to mess up this phone.

thats the guide to flash the SBF... i jsut gave another guy hell for not searching- consider yourself lucky lol. By flashign the SBF it will take you back to "retail" load. Make sure you phone is charged before starting as it takes about 20ish minutes or so to complete and doesnt charge during the time its doign the business

Yeah, you're gonna want the 1.2.6
But I do suggest that you install GingerBlur actually and have the hack readily available without having to do much yourself, and also be able to do the HDMI Mirroring. Unless you want to keep the look of motoblur (blech).

Same Issue - Help Needed
My phone has the same issue as well. When I plug in my phone into my TV, all that shows is the Motorola symbol. It does not launch the entertainment center menu. Is there a way to fix or download an app to fix?
FYI, I'm not a developer. I came across this from a google search so I wouldn't know how to do any install, reboot, etc. As well, I bought this from another person who was an app developer. I'm assuming it's been rooted and I'm assuming that's why the entertainmnet center menu won't launch. Thank you in advance for your time and help!
honestly, i just wrote a giant essay on what happened and it all got deleted when i tried to submit it so im not very happy right now and dont feel like retyping it so ill just keep it short
i (tried) to format my sd card with the clockwork mod app (not recovery) but it failed and when i rebooted my phone was soopah doopah ultra mega bricked³, i believe is the technical term
it "boots" to a black screen when the battery is inserted and none of the buttons, capactive or physical, work and the only way to power it off is to pull the battery
my computer only picks up some qualcomm-usb-whatever drivers (been a while since i plugged it) which according to the internet has to do with some sort of qualcomm download mode
i was hoping to jtag it, because according to the internet, its the ultimate recovery tool, but i have no clue how to use it and cant find a good guide on the internet specifically for an evo or something related
i have a board coming, so now i need your guys help using it and getting the software i need to reload my evo
i just wanna do a 100% total restore of the entire system, since id venture to guess thats the easiest and probably only option at this point

It is possible. You can be our guinea pig. Search for a thread already about this. It's probably at the beginning, I remember we were going to use this to nand write, before we had root.
But it's just easier to buy insurance.

Guys phone was rooted and had this same issue and got a new one from HTC within 3days...
though if you get the thing to work right yourself more power to ya, and im sure the whole community will love to see it happen!
Keep us updated. Read up on that thread in here you posted in, in the Dev section that TrevE was workin on Download mode. Think he was gettin with RevSkills to use that stuff somehow. my memory is foggy though on all that since it was so long ago...

yeah. just was thinking b/c itd be with HTC that they'd have to have more options for places to ship it to for fixing than the USA for ya.
i dont even have the ability to send out mail where im stationed at and plus i think the community is close to finding a jtag restore solution (hopefully)

I won't brick my phone again. It's a SGH-I717R (Rogers). It was loaded back with AT&T 4.0.4 after it was unbricked but I've lost data signal, no internet (WIFI was OK). I've tried to root it again and now, I can only go to the Samsung logo... (Smell of burned fuses) At least, I can boot the download screen. I only see 2 choices. I put it on eBay like that or somebody logs of my laptop with Teamviewer and do it for me. I'll pay 50$, via your Paypal account after a full successful upgrade. So, who's the first one interested to help me to get it back to work with JB? Don't really care about the ROM, the only real options I want is Sphere, fast interface and stability. Thanks.

Start over. Use the "Return to Stock" thread to return the phone to then state is was in when you got it...minus the burnt fuse smell, and any damage to the hardware. Re root it, reinstall CWM, then flash JB.
I don't know what you were doing to the phone, but I believe the Note came out Feb 27 (???) of last year, which could mean your warranty expires in just days, or a couple months from now at the least. If its fried, but doesn't have water or drop damage l, it could be defective...if that's the case, return to stock and send it in to Samsung for a warranty replacement.
If it really does smell burnt, companies have an extreme interest in their own combusting products. Call up Samsung.

Hello. So I have an interesting question that's slowly formed in my head. It started out with wanting to use a hotspot but the option is gone from my phone. Oh, I have a galaxy S3 on virgin mobile. Anyways, my last phone I had for the past 2 years was able to be used as a WiFi hotspot. And believe me I used it a lot. And I made sure that id still have that with this phone, but sadly its gone on this phone. The option isn't just missing from the menu, the function is off because any apps I try to run say that a hotspot function isn't available. And it gets me upset because on virgin mobiles website they even have a step by step page to turning on the hotspot for this phone. Is that completely f2f also advertising or what!? Lol anyways I can still use usb teathering, but I'd really like to get my wifi hotspot running again.
So all this has one limit, I paid 400 dollars for this phone and I want to at least use the 1 year warranty before I mess anything up because I'm in school and I drive about a hundred bucks in gas per week, so keeping in mind that I work at a grocery store I can't buy a new phone for a while.
So lets get down to the idea here. Theres a menu you can access from the off position by pressing the down and menu button from what I remember. If thats not right then i forgot. Nevertheless while I was in the menu I couldn't help but wonder if it was possible to save your Rom from there without rooting your phone. So with that being said heres the big question; can I save the stock rom (unrooted) as a backup for warrenty purposes as a failsafe, and then install another rom like cyogenmod that I can root?
