Hello,
I bought a second hand HTC ONE S of some guy and as soon as it tried to update the firmware from 4.0.3 to the new 4.1, it does a restart and goes into Team Win Recovery Project 2.5 (twrp) and nothing happens since then. This is when I realized that device must have been rooted. I was checking the root on the device and it does not appear to be rooted any more (the root checker apps just get stuck on the "please wait", and I tried to install titanium backup, and it also gets stuck on "waiting for root access".
What can I do?
I am stuck with this phone now and really all I wanted was to have a stock updated version phone, nothing more.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi, I have bought an Ace ME ROM version for my fiancée that had Eclair installed. I rooted the phone using superoneclick v1.9.1 and everything was working fine. Then my fiancée connected to Kies and tried to upgrade to Froyo however the phone hang and she removed the battery and then the phone was not working anymore. I got the phone to work again by reverting to factory settings from the recovery mode screen, and the phone was upgraded to Froyo. However, the phone lost its root, and I am not able to root it again, once trying SuperOneClick the phone hangs on waiting for device (even though I tried all remedies to this issue that are available online). I tried to install Z4root on the phone to root without connection to PC however the application crashes when I click root or unroot.
By the way, the phone says that it is rooted in the settings/About phone/Kernel version screen.
I would appreciate any help on how to re-root the phone as due to low capacity, app to SD and removing stock apps is necessary.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you try read before ask...??? What about thread "How to root Galaxy Ace"...??? Maybe is there some useful information for you...

Hello All,
I was attempting to update the firmware via Samsung Kies, boot into recovery as instructed, and now I'm stuck on the Downloading screen. I've went back and restarted the process and it pop up with a Notice message in Korean or Japanese (this also popped up the first time I've tried), clicked OK, and nothing else happens. In Kies, it's attempting to connect to the Tab and was not successful either.
The only thing that I've performed on the Tab since I've gotten it is "Root".
Do I need to "Unroot" in order to process this firmware update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi I have Motorola Defy phone, which is rooted and I already update it on Android 4.1 once. But I wanted to make some changes so I made new update with this version: cm-10.2-20130801 and mini GAPPS both from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702. But when I try to start a phone the note: "Setup Wizard has stopped working" shows up and i can't do anything with that.
So I tried to get in recovery mode and install another version, but the yellow exclemation mark with green android (which apparently shows up in phones without root) shows up and then i can get in something like recovery mode in unrooted phone. There are only 4 options.
I'm starting to get really desperate because I really don't know what to do. I'll be very glad if somebody can help me and I'm considering some kind of reward for helping me.
Thank you.
Hi
Yesterday I rooted my phone using mobilego it's an UK Alcatel Pixi 4 6" 4G, everything went fine and finished rooting, I loaded SuperSU and it asked to update binaries. I clicked normal and it asked me about my king root and asked to uninstall it so I clicked yes. everything went through fine and asked to reboot. on reboot my phone just loads to the Alcatel logo and stays there so I'm assuming something went wrong somewhere and I now have a soft brick. I'm guessing I need a stock rom for my phone to get my phone working again.
I've gone through all the Alcatel websites that pop up on Google and all I have found is a stock rom for the 3g version of my phone.
does anyone know how to get my stock rom? or how to unsoft brick my phone please

Your partner has the exact same phone you say? Then I think it's possible to make a backup of that device and then flash it to yours.

It's the system partition that got corrupted, you can probably just use fastboot to flash the system.img of the other device that you have.
question, my phone being soft bricked and won't go past the logo screen, if I sent to repair centre will they somehow know the phone was rooted or can't they cause the phone won't boot.?

If you don't tell them the phone was rooted then I don't think they would know. They should be able to get the phone working again.
Wouldn't it be easier to just make a backup of a working phone and then flash that?
Hello there.
Ive had my Alcatel (android version 5.1.1) phone for about 3 months now and a while ago I wanted to root my phone so that I could install some Xposed modules, and I ended up using Kingroot. The rooting process failed but I kept it installed so nothing much occurred afterwards. A few days later I decided to install Kingoroot to see if maybe that could do the job of rooting my phone and it also failed. I was tired so I powered off my phone and went to sleep. The next morning, I powered on my phone and to my surprise it was stuck in a bootloop. I attempted to wipe the cache partition and factory reset and then reboot my phone, but it didnt work. Please not that I wasnt able to unlock the bootloader, so I cant flahs any ROMS. No system file is missing to my knowledge because it always stays stuck on the metro pcs screen with no error message. I appreciate all the help I receive and thank everyone who responds.
Thank you.
I have exactly the same problem with the exact same phone and the exact same carrier
were you able to fix it? if so, could you please tell me how.
