This is impressive no mather how you look at it!
Not really a must see, the thread title pretty much sums it up. Did you really have to make the video over 6 minutes long?
Made me motion sick in 15 sec flat....you need to learn how to hold the camera still
Why does it sometimes say that the videos I try to play "are not optimized for mobile"? These videos stutter like hell. Is that caused by flash player on my phone or is it just the video or site?

Haha that is great. I now wonder about 4 x 1080p.

I think that means YouTube hasn't converted them to the right format to play fluidly on mobile devices. This would imply that what you're seeing on your SGS2 is a different video file to what Mr Average Joe would get on his laptop - YouTube still has to help the mobile players more than the desktop players!
i love watching 4 videos at the same time
The limit is about playing GoldenEye 007 on N64oid... that really stresses the device

Awesome. Thanks Pachi.
I'm proud because I'm own this phone. I think is powerfull phone at the moment. Also I did some picture today with phone and with sony 12 mp camera. Just to compare, very nice picture took with phone. Before this phone I had htc desire hd and optimus 2x, both 8mp camera. But picture on sgs2 is much better. This is my opinion.
Hello, i currently have a Iphone 4s and it is perfect for what i want to use it for. but im getting a bit sick of having to wait for jailbreaks and tweaks. The galaxy s 2 has loads of tweaks and stuff by the looks of it.
i basically want to be able to copy onto the memory card blu-ray rips without having to convert them to any other format.
i also like games and wondered if the galaxy s 2 is as good at playing games as the iphone 4s?
i also really like some of the custom rom's that you guys have made! they look fantastic.
i have some experience with custom roms as i always had XDA phones and HTC too and enjoyed trying out all the new rom's.
whats the battery life like on the galaxy s 2 and which rom would be best for battery and playing bluray rips?
i also want to make themes and easily install them, is this possible?
Thanks guys and keep up the good work!!
Kev.
You're on an android sgsII forum. So the answer is YES.
Dump the iphone and set yourself free!
NO.
I beg to differ
After a colleague saw and played with my SGS2 he bought one and sold his Iphone 4 and is happy. He's a gamer and I haven't heard any complaints from him.
I get more than a day on a charge on the stock battery, as long as a phone gets a complete day I'm happy as it goes on the dock when I go to bed anyways.
Iunno, if its just video watching, then sure, but we have a 2gb video limit plus the iphone has a larger video battery life. If it's gaming then stick with your iphone. Everything else in functionality is more or less the same.
Now imagine you jailbreak to get free apps. The sgs 2 rooting it or otherwise does not mean you get free apps. You have to look elsewhere.
Personally dont waste your money on an sgs 2 when you have an iphone 4s. Im not saying either is better or worse but better you wait for a real improvement like sgs 3 or iphone 5.

As Kaili mentioned above, it is not worth to change and you can tetheted jailbreak atm so why dont you try?

I say yes, because i had the iphone 4 and it was a awesome but when i saw my brother with the sgs2, and i tested it out on games and videos the graphics were so amazing i was speechless of the quality and the big 4.3inch screen, the speed is sweet too, but tweaking makes it more fun and it's a lot easier to change roms or anything else if you don't like the same stuff that you use every day please go for the sgs2.
Iphone is really very boring believe me after you use the SGS2.
I've had both, best has gotta be the SGS2 hands down.

Well the battery life on the stock ROM is not so bad, I always get through the day as a heavy user.
For me it's acceptable if it can work until i get to bed. On custom ROMs however you probably get a lot better battery life.
I don't know much about making themes, but I know you can install them in matter of seconds.
Galaxy S2 is really a great phone, you won't be sorry.
PS. the gaming on iPhone4S may still be better than on GalaxyS2 even if the SGS2 is a more powerful device.
The reason for that is the devs are making games that are compatible for much more devices with different hardware.
But the future of gaming looks bright , just check out Shadowgun and RiptideGP , they look aWESome! Good luck
hi guys,

im not that interested in free apps its more tweaks to get the phone how i want it to look and feel.

It depends on what you are expecting from a phone.
If you want a magnum that a bullet in it, yes SGS2 is the right choice.
If you want a giggling phone that you can show off with it, stay with iphone.

Totally this.
Galaxy S II forever!!! or untill Galaxy S III !
No seriously, if you've got the cash go for it... but that's not to say the iPhone's bad, it just doesn't give you the freedom of an S2, or any android device for that matter. But if you decide to hold on to your benjamins and wait for the next king of the hill, the I'd say that's a smart choice too. One bad thing about the SGS2 concerning gaming is that some of the best games are Tegra 2 only, and while the Exynos chip inside the phone is definitely powerful enough, it's still not gonna run those games. You can go through chainfire3d to play those games but it's just something you'd need to know, oh and some of the games that use to be Tegra 2 only have been officially given Exynos support, like Shadowgun... So maybe its better to wait untill the games get ported, then when the SGS3 comes out with it's mindblowing specs, it'll already support the best games... If I were you, stick with the iPhone 4S untill a worthy successor to the SGS2 comes out...
See if you can find some place to try it. Then try it, but make sure you try all the things you use the most. Android is a VERY different experience from iOS. I came from an iPhone myself and the first thing I noticed was that the UI isn't quite as smooth as it is on the iPhone. However it is not bad and all the customizations you can do, more than make up for it. Especially the keyboards. But as I said, it's a different experience and it's going to take some time to get used to it.
Another thing, you might want to think about is the release cycle. The SGS 2 is growing a beard, having been out for more than 6 months now in some parts of the world. I got mine in may. I still love it. It's by far the most awesome gadget I have owned, but at this time I would wait for the SGS 3. If you live in the US, you might have to wait a long time though.

Well since you own an iPhone4Steve and you are considering getting a GalaxyS2 with a 32GB microSD i'd go and say you can spare the cash.
So get them both. Both are really amazing devices , whatever someone else might say. You can never have enough gadgets.
Also you might consider getting a GalaxyNote if you are after movies. The screen is just amazing!
Doooooo it. Sgs2 ftw

I guess it depends on what you want in a phone. I believe the iPhone is behind in today's technology.
Technology, especially in phones, moves fast. Apple doesn't keep up with the times very well. They release a new phone once a year, with old specs and outdated software / aesthetics.
I love the SGSII. The UK version, because it has a physical button and its white version is beautiful.
It has higher specs and a nicer screen (bigger and brighter) than the iPhone.
But there are better phones to consider upgrading to from it. For example, the HTC Rezound is a beast. Offering true HD display (higher Res and ppi than the iPhone) with a super fast processor and all the up to date things technology today has to offer.
Another reason to switch to Android, not just the SGS, but Android in general; is the complete openness and customizability (word?) It has.
Even if you root an iPhone, you're still limited to what you can do.
Each OS has its pros and cons, but Android has many more pros.
-my two cents-

Well since no one has answered his question.
What I mean by 2gb is that because of the file system (dun ask me, i'm not sure on the specifics), android will only play files under 2gb. So any file over 2gb will not play, regardless of your sd card.
I've got both but the S2 is my main phone. The iPhone is just boring as even though it has every app ill ever need. Can't stand the small screen and old style look.

The answer is definitely YES, man!
So I know everyone on here is pretty much upgrading to the Galaxy Note from at&t or getting it as their first phone?
I was just curious what everyone's main reasons are for choosing the galaxy note as their new smartphone/mini-tablet?
My top 3 reasons are:
1. Watching movies is dumb on my iPhone 4S; I want a bigger screen. (Especially when I am doing cardio at the gym; put the phone down, pop on my Bluetooth headset and I will be good to go.)
2. I am studying Cisco Certification Exams and using the Kindle app on this phone with all my books for studying will be awesome to have to take with me and be able to read in my spare time.
3. I hate how limiting the iPhone can be and want something more customizable, I went from my Samsung Infuse to the iPhone 4S and now I am going back to android to have my phone the way I want when I want.
How about you?

- Music player

Graduate school. Don't want a tablet. Laptop is a pain in the butt. Can't afford an ultrabook. . . .
#1 most important thing to mean is that big beautiful screen.
The closer was the LTE.
The big screen first and foremost. For watching video, and superb web browsing.
Having a great GPS finally after 1 1/2 years of Captivate's bad GPS.
I talk on a cell phone about 60 minutes a month so I want a smartphone more for the entertainment/tablet aspect of it and still be able to fit it in a pocket. So the Note will be perfect for that.
1.The size of the screen makes everything better from games, movies, web and dialing/texting
2.This phone Reminds me of my skyrocket which i think is the best phone out
3. The S-pen i am very interested and anxious to start playing with this and hoping this will be implemented in future apps/games
The biggest reason is of course the big and beautiful screen. I want to be able to watch netflix and stream other videos on the go. I also just like the big size of the phone. I have an Inspire right now and it's decently sized, but my big hands just need more real estate.
Forgot to add that I want the front facing camera so I can skype.

We'll have to use the sixaxis app right?
At this point for me the screen alone is the biggest want. That is solely the most important feature if the device itself. Not the processor. Not the camera. Not the OS. Not even the s-pen (although for me it is a close 2nd most important). But the display & screen.

Can they take the 64gb SD cards? And the reason I purchased mine is the screen size and resolution. I use my phone like my PC for when I am not on my PC. Simple as that. Facebook, web browsing, texting, etc. Only thing I need my PC for now is the awesome gaming. That is one thing mobile devices will never do better.
The main thing that drew me to the Note was the stylus. As an old Palm girl, I miss it - the stylus will be so much more precise. An improved GPS is a huge draw, having been suffering with the crappy Captivate GPS now for so long. The big screen is also a plus, for old eyes

My skyrocket sees and utelizes it just fine so I dont see why the Note wouldnt. If it doesnt out of the box Im sure a rom would fix that. Dont see why not though.

WOW
Really is all I can say if it only had surround sound then I would give it a 10 out of 10 but I will have to give it a 9.8. I used Pavtube Blu-ray Video Converter Ultimate to convert the Dark night and boy for 720p video its killer to be able to stream from my phone this quality. WOW But i used the One X profile and it out put 1280x720 i am sure i could get full hd later on but for a simple convert it it kills all other programs for the Evo Lte.
I really think its a great tool that if you used it the right way you could do about any thing. Yes its a little laggy but not by much when playing video it really does not see any of the lag at all. I really can not say more then WOW.

I'd love to be able to do other tasks (send sms, look up reviews on the imdb app and so forth) while watching the movie on TV. just like that demo I saw on YT of the One X over the MediaLikn HD
for a quick minute one time I was able to do this. stranegly enough I cannot not duplicate it...
anyhow, I did play a movie oncoded to 720p, 1500kbs, mp4 and it played nicely.
I'll try a better quality encode next time.

How much faster is Nexus 7 compare to HTC Flyer for real world usage.
I've been using Flyer for about a year now and it's seem to be very slow to me, especially when surfing websites.
Can Nexus handle flash better with Quad cores and all?
I want to know if it worth giving away my Flyer and buy Nexus 7. If it's not too much different, then I'll just keep the flyer.
I've had both and TBH with my Flyer being overclocked to 1.84 GHZ I can notice no difference between the two in smoothness when browsing, tweeting, reading..etc
That said though, JB and quad core does make a difference ofcourse, especially when games are concerned.

I don't know about the Nexus 7, but for your Flyer, you may want to try the Puffin Browser off of the Android Market/Google Play before you buy another tablet. It sped my web surfing up tremendously. The company suggests trying the free version of the app first.
Also, u may want to search Nexus 7 + flash. I've read that it doesn't natively support flash (not certain), but hopefully that's nothing that a downloaded app can't fix.
I have great browsing with Boat browser.
Trust me its a huge speed difference. You guys saying its barely noticeable are just lieing to yourselves. Its like comparing choppiness to butter. Yea there similar alright. Cmon now.
Aside from speed the flyer has a full 7 inch screen in complete use (gingerbread only) and a nice pen function going for it.
yeah gotta agree with you. nexus 7 is faster. That feeling when I use my brother's Nexus7 and then i go back using my flyer ><

Flyer good...Nexus incredible!
I've had my Flyer for over a year and have been fighting rom issues since then, it is workable (except GPS...Shame on you HTC for not fixing this!). Side by side -I've had my Nexus for 3 days now, the nexus screen is brighter, better contrast- whites now look slightly yellowed on the Flyer. Nexus speed is much better(expected), BT, GPS, & WiFi all operate flawlessly. I am using a usb adaptor cable from Amazon ($2.00)! to further expand storage and also connects to other devices for file transfer and viewing.Battery life on the Flyer was a solid 4.5 hours with constant video loop running- I expect 2/3 to twice the run time with the Nexus. I have a rooted-32g Nexus...couldn't be happier at this point!
Final note- I side loaded Flash and it works well with Firefox Beta.:fingers-crossed: Update:Boat browser is very fast and stable, I usually have to reboot my Flyer a couple of times a day due to lag or sometimes freezing...not so with the Nexus.
The two aren't even comparable. The N7 blows the flyer/view4g away in every aspect. I have the Veiw4g and the N7, and I don't even use the view anymore. It's so slow and crappy, it's not even worth it. If you are thinking about getting the N7, just do it. The flyer is dated now, and it's not going to get any fast no matter what you do.
Oh, and as far as media consumption goes, the N7 can actually handle everything I throw at it. I can't even watch my vulkano in anything more than low res on the view. But the N7 I can put it to it's highest quality setting and it works great. Same with Hulu, and Netflix. As well as streamed content from my HTPC.
I've played with the N7 at stores and it's pretty nice.
If Someone gave me one for free, I probably would use my flyer drastically less.
However, as much as I want project butter on my flyer I find that it would probably be a waste of money for me to personally upgrade. I'll still do the same stuff with either device.. Browse web, facebook, read books, and avoid pulling out a netbook when I can. So it raises the question why upgrade if I have a perfectly working device?

You sir are corect N7 blows but not Flyer away but simply BLOWS; with no SD card, no stereo sound, no vibra, no front camera, no pen, no HW buttons; so wjhat extra from cpu and scree is there left at all? No sim?
So that means:
limited to no small amount of space
Cant do videocalls (good luck with mirrors)
No silent alert wheil in classes, meetings ect...
Less screen
ect ect...
For mine usage of device it BLOWS unlike Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 wich is quite nice; more up to date device then Flyer and has that "magic" JB/ICS, wich Flyer doesent; but even with the JB ports we do have for Flyer we have more working hardware then Nexus have. And good luck with rearlly suported tegra games.

Umm, they are coming out with a 3g N7, you realize that, right? The sound between the two is comparable, as I HAVE both. Is having vibrate really necessary on a tablet? And it has a front camera, just no rear camera? I'm beginning to wonder if you have even used the device. It has a front camera specifically for video calls. HW buttons are a matter of preference, but not a necessity. The pen I will give you, but when you can't even get HTC to FIX the crap they broke with the update, IT"S NOT WORTH DEALING WITH IT. I will never own another HTC device after HTC screwed us over on the tablets. (not to mention the year wait on getting ICS on my old Tbolt, or 8 months for the rezound I bought) The SD card missing is a downer, but there are many workarounds that it's not a total loss. There is WIFI storage sharing (so I can use the 80GB I have on my phone between it's 64GB sd and 16 internal) Then there is USB OTG.
So that means:
limited to no small amount of spaceYou are not limited, just not as easy to add storage as with the flyer/View
Cant do videocalls (good luck with mirrors)This is just flat wrong
No silent alert wheil in classes, meetings ect... Really? It doesn't have a LED, but it does still "alert", just on screen. How many alerts do you have set up on your tab? I have almost none. Mostly calendar appt's and such.
Less screenHow? If there is a difference(16:9 vs 16:10) its a matter of a .1 inch or so.

I don't play games, but I haven't seen anything it can't do yet. I would like to know how you figure there is more working hardware on the JB ports to the flyer/view than the N7? You have a rear camera/SD card. that's it. I have both. (actually, I have all three. View/Flyer/N7. The flyer is my Fiancees. and I have the View/N7.

So it raises the question why upgrade if I have a perfectly working device?

i am in the same exact situation. i have a device that serves my needs (well i could benefit from bluetooth on the JB rom) and i keep looking for reasons to justify upgrading

Is having vibrate really necessary on a tablet?

And it has a front camera, just no rear camera? I'm beginning to wonder if you have even used the device. It has a front camera specifically for video calls.

HW buttons are a matter of preference, but not a necessity.

As nothing is NECESSERY - i simply love them and missing them on SGTAB 2. Hiting HOME when u in full scree app helps a lot with time and pressing.

The pen I will give you, but when you can't even get HTC to FIX the crap they broke with the update, IT"S NOT WORTH DEALING WITH IT. I will never own another HTC device after HTC screwed us over on the tablets. (not to mention the year wait on getting ICS on my old Tbolt, or 8 months for the rezound I bought)

I cant give u sdcard to share u mine documents with is prity common on all mobiel devices. U cant film your gf or take pic of her, u cant draw or handwrite, no way to listen to quality music since onlly suporting 1 chanel insted of minimum 2 for stereo.

CORECTOMUNDO - u did figure it already with rear camera working SD slot but u forgot the pen and hw buttons we have stereo sound as well on JB and vibra working. All this is working on Flyer loaded with JB and is something N7 wont EVER have. Never Ever.
All i am saying is for what i need tab N7 sucks. Now if your onlly use of tab is a bit faster browsing i guess N7 is a winer buy. I unfortunally expect more. And there is much N7 does simplly not offer. Its not cheap for no reason I wont go into ghosting and cracking screens...

Right under his name it says "Location: Velenje"
I'm guessing his main language isn't english.
Pro-tip: Don't ask him to fix his english.

Yeah, I still honestly love the build quality on the flyer and it still has a relatively nice screen.
Since you are on the JB rom, I need to ask did they get the screen to turn off properly yet? That was the only thing holding me back personally. As long as it has good battery life I am really considering using it.

if you are referring to the backlight remaining on after locking the screen - it still occurs quite often. however, if i turn it on and off a few times it eventually completely turns off (can be quite annoying) i am really not sure of the battery life as i basically keep the flyer charged.
P.S. I recently had a few random reboots ( but only once while I was actually using it ) and it won't play HD YouTube - not that big o f a deal to me
