Ok its me aging hopefully this hasn't been posted either cuz I haven't came across it....but anyway today I decided to calibrate my battery let it die out and charge while the phone is off...and this was around 5pm....I fell asleep and it is now midnight and its still charging and I know stock batteries don't need a lot of time to charge unlike extended batteries.....has anyone else come across this or does this phone need 7hrs plus of charging??

There is no need to calibrate the battery. When the phone reaches 99% charge capacity, it will take a while for it to achieve 100%. Once it achieves 100%, it will let the battery drop back down to 95% then it will begin charging back to 100%. It is a repeated process. It will keep doing this until the phone is removed from the charger.

Once you disconnect, your battery drops from 90 to 70 in a matter of minutes?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
If that is the case, I would say bad battery. BUT I do remember reading that there were some Evo 3D's that suffered from the same problem, and they were also getting extremely hot. If that is the case, I suggest exchanging.

Let the phone die down to 15%, then charge it. If it drops significantly again, then we may have a problem. It could be a bad battery or an app you must have downloaded.

A smart phone is like a pocket sized computer. There can be malicious apps that can harm the phone. But if that isn't the case, I suggest hard resetting. If that still doesn't work, replace.

I personally had strange battery problems the first week I had the phone, and after that my battery life became quite good (I did the battery calibration technique from the og evo and it helped a lot also).
So if you're saying it's strange after a couple days I'd say give it a chance to go through a couple more charge cycles. I'd bet the issues will sort themselves out.

If this hasn't happened to you yet., and it's going to happen to you later. You have been messing with your phone without looking at your battery levels and mid rom flash you are out of juice, your phone won't charge. The charger appears to be working but the phone just won't charge.
I used to have a droid x and you have to use a special tool by Motorola to change the os on it. It requires you to be plugged in but sometimes won't charge your phone. Mid update my phone ran out of juice, I had a spare battery but the phone wouldn't turn on or charge. After many desperate appempts I found a fairly easy solution.
The trick is you find any usb cable you don't want.. You strip the end with the adapted part of the usb.. You cut the green and yellow wires.. You put the black wire on the negative terminals and the red wire on the positive terminals
This should give your battery enough energy to start itself up if you hold the wire on the terminals for a minute.. Although I'm not sure if this damages the battery.. I would only use this in case of an emergency,

This is for a situation where you need it charged at that moment.. Not wait 1 week for a charger.. Most people know about the chargers, but shipping is nothing near instant

They already make these "brick" charging devices. Not a shoe box, just a large battery that can charge your phone multiple times before it needs to be recharged. Pretty sure I have seen a 8000mah and higher.

This happened to me before. Some say that you need a newer recovery, some of the older custom recoveries won't charge on a zero charge battery.
But here's how you fix it; find a friend with the same battery (you know, with an amaze or a sensation) and put your battery in their phone for a little while to charge. Once you can get your phone booted you'll be fine.

As much as you flash and develop I figured you'd have more external chargers and batteries than I do!(2 external chargers and 7 batteries!)
But yea, I'll bet you it is just the battery even if you have the right recovery.. so many little things can go wrong with the batteries, look at the little plastic tabs in between the contacts on the battery(look at pic below), if they start to bend you have to break them off - they can make the phone think the battery is overheating until you break off the plastic, and it won't charge..

I cant enter recovery mode or download because it says battery is too low.
I've had something a little similar happen to me recently. Mine was reporting a constant charge when unplugged. The fix was cleaning the USB port with alcohol and a toothbrush, and then using a toothpick to push the inside of the USB board up just barely. Apparently USB port issues are common with this model. Maybe that's the issue with your phone?

I'm able to get to download mode without the battery in. I've tried flashing the stock samsung rom but same problem. I'm unable to do anything else without the battery. With the battery in I cant even get to download mode or anything else. I'm just gonna try another battery from the att store. Otherwise if anybody else knows anything plz let me know.
I'm having this exact same issue. I can't get into download mode though. How were you able to?
I have tried leaving it on the charger for over an hour now, and no luck. I think the battery has literally died on me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013766
**Update** I can get into download mode as well without the battery in. But I haven't flashed anything yet as I'm guessing we both have the same issue. Its got to be the battery. Let me know how the test at ATT turns out. If good, I'll just buy one off ebay for like $7
Try this: Once you are in download mode without the battery, put the battery in and see if it charges (give it a hour or so). Someone did this when they had the problem you are having and it worked for them.

I'm unsure, but maybe you're right and it is your battery. I'm not an expert with this kind of stuff so I can't offer too much help beyond the basics. From what I understand our phone's battery has a gauge built in to monitor battery level and report it to the OS, instead of relying on Android's built in monitoring. Maybe that got messed up when the battery was completely discharged? Hope a new battery gets it working for you, those are relatively cheap.

I went ahead and bought a new battery from Ebay. Only like $4 so I'm not too worried if it doesn't fix it. I'll update everyone when I get it!
I met this problem before. The phone shew charging and then reboot, again and again. The phone was overheated, in the night before.
I bought new battery and external battery charger from eBay. The new battery works well, and the old battery works well after charged by the external charger once. It seems that the cellphone need some minimal battery to work. I guess the phone use too much battery in the night, for some unknown reason, so the phone does not able to get enough power to get into charging circle.
I'ts my guess. If someone can test the voltage of battery, it may show the reason.
Replaced the battery and it is fixed. Just had a battery completely drain on me.
I had my phone today and everything seemed to be running fine but I happened to let it die completely while in my pocket. I went to plug it in and no LED, no charging, no nothing. When I put it on my wireless charger, the charger's green light says it is charging but my phone doesn't seem to respond to anything. I tried holding down Power+volume up+volume down and still nothing. Before it happened i was running official CM10.2 and the crpalmer kernel and everything seemed great. What do ya'll think?

Battery pull
When that happens, the battery usually has to be pulled for it to turn back on. The problem is, the DNA doesn't have a removable, or even easily accessible battery. This same problem happened to me a while back, and the remedy was to pry off the back cover, unscrew the metal plate holding the battery connector to the board, and unplug the connector for about 10 or 15 seconds before reconnecting it. After that, charging LED came on like normal and the phone booted up just fine. It's only happened twice in the last 3 months, and it works every time.
Lesson learned - don't let the battery die!
