[Q] Boot Loop - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys!
I restarted my phone and now am stuck in a boot loop on the CM10 animation.
I have a Razr GSM (XT910) and am running Safe Strap (based off TWRP)
Is there a way to extract my SMS and app data from the ROM slot before I wipe my phone? I have a couple of .img files, but I can't seem to open them in any PC software.
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Can't boot cm9 after clean install

Hi everyone!
I am trying to flash cm9 with CWM v5.0.2.8, but the phone gets stuck while booting. Before flashing I wipe everything (dalvik cache, cache, data, battery stats), and format the system, and still I am getting stuck while booting again and again. I see a screen with a red circle with M inside it, the text under it is "dual core technology", and the text in the top - "unlocked". I can wait and wait but nothing happens. the only choice is to restore to the stock rom. My device is rooted and unlocked.
I Tried to use the previous version of CWM, but after I flash it with rom manager the recovery gets unreadable. I go into the recovery mode and see unreadable lines of text.
Please help me! I'm tired of unplugging and plugging the battery again and again..
Thank you!
Forgot to say:
I tried to flash the file "beta-0.2.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed.zip".
Should I have flashed any special kernel?

Bold part is the problem. For some reason the newest version of CWM results in a stuck boot with CM9 for the photon. You need 5.0.2.7 (or below I'd assume).
Go here and grab the CWM that is posted and flash that.
Thanks. How do I flash a recovery? RSD lite is good?
Edit: I tried to use bootstrap, but it doesn't boot into recovery but into android. So how do I flash the "old" version of CWM?

OR use the moto-fastboot method which is simple too.
Thanks for the help! I managed to flash the recovery, and then I successfully flashed the cm9! Thank you!

I'll be honest this is why I don't like rom manager
Good practice should be to do everything as "manually" as possible first, then consider using apps like rom manager to speed up these tasks.

help bricked razr

Hi all.
I bricked my gsm (italian) razr.
I would like to install last miui, so I installed cwm recovery.
Everything ok, i choose zip from sdcard and then bootloop with miui logo.
So I have to ask: how can i choose recovery mode (to select the restore mode)?
Of course i had a backup first, but how can now restore it?
Now razr is a brick.
Please help me.
Tx in advance.
A razr-noob, ex hd2-expert.
are you using safestrap or bootstrap recovery? a bootloop is not bricked. restart your phone and see if recovery pulls up. if not you will have to enter fastboot mode and flash back to stock, re-root and start over.

Ciao!
Flash a stock rom and don't use CWM which is not working.
1. First, flash a stock system with RSD lite (this one)
2. Then you'll be able to charge your razr and update your system to something newer.
Cheers
Tank's a lot, guys.
I'm offline all day long 'cause my internet went from razr...
Thanks for your replies, i'll now study what i have to do.

ALCATEL (and MTK Devices in general) usually have locked boot loaders making it impossible to enter fast boot or recovery without OS level access. Have fun with your new paperweight (jk)

[Q] HTC One X+ enrc2b (International) Stuck on spinning Cyanogenmod logo

So a few days ago I got completely fed up with the stock rom and wanted to try out cyanogenmod on my HTC One X+ (the international version). I've unlocked the bootloader, rooted and have replaced the recovery with twrp v2.8.7.0. All was going well until I wiped everything (which included the os), so now I'm stuck without one. Cleverly, I made no backup to restore to. Using fastboot and adb, I've been pushing various roms and attempting to install them; the installs are apparently successful but when I try to launch the system I'm stuck on the spinning cyanogenmod logo. This seems to be a pretty common problem among everybody using custom roms and the fix for this seems to always be go and factory reset the device, wipe things etc, which I have been doing anyway each time before installing a rom. I've been doing this in circles for the last day and a half, is anybody able to help?

Thanks for this, it seems most of the guides I've been using skip this stage. The phone was working like a charm with cm10 but I was prompted to update, and now I'm stuck on the spinning boot logo again. What should I do?

IF your using safe strap then go back into stock rom from stock rom slot then wipe and delete the slot you had custom rom on then click make slot and reflash custom rom.

With device off Hold volume up and down and power at the same time then when it get to black screen with the menu let go and scroll down with volume down button to bptools and then press volume up. It will go to safestrap recovery. When in safe strap do the following posted above. That black screen is your fastboot menu.
