I can either pay the 150 get another amaze or pay 100 down and 20 a month for 24 months for an HTC ONE, not fond of 32gb though ;/

I normally use 32gb SD Anyways.
So I am between a HTC One 32gb 100 down 20 a month or 150 down for the s4 and 20 a month.
Jb is not handling sd quite the same... It's been relegated to a more useless "non-live" storage
Not completely accurate.. But essentially accurate... Go with the htc one or wait for someone to break the rules with a good phone.... Google is pushing cloud and removal of sd & removable battery..
Just wait and see

What's wrong with the nexus 4? Mine with a modded rom, good kernel and the right tweaks works perfectly, I'm yet to see a problem with it.
I've heard good things about the htc one. I would go with the n4 though because of the price and superior value. All of them are great phones and you can't go wrong with any of them in my opinion.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4g running Fourth Bar Infusion
So everyone is in agreement, don't go with Insurion for a replacement which cost 150.
My friend loves the N4, but was always plagued with issues with it. Stuff wouldn't work on 7 different devices. WHen one would work he would call up his insurance and get a replacement. He went through 7 before they finally gave him a Sony phone. Problems range from touchscreen not working, then the audio jack, then it wouldnt turn on, poor signal, random reboots, I thought it was a good phone too.
I'm seeing a lot of hate with the S4. I can understand the internal SD not being quite 16gb. But I would always use an SD card anyways.
I am a little afraid of the ONE simply because all LITH batteries wear out after 1 year of use. So i would need to replace the whole phone after 1 year of usage, if not less, and get a refurbish one through warranty.
I do not know much about the S4 other then it looks like a good phone, changeable battery and added sd card slot.
I went with an S4, ONE was not available ;/
SD cards are nowhere near as fast as onboard memory, remember that. Factor of the N4, I guess he just wasn't lucky, mine works fine. Loving my one too btw, I don't keep phone past 6 months, so battery issues haven't been a problem of mine.

Thanks everyone for giving me your opinions. Obviously 150 bucks was not worth coughing up for the Amaze. I just bought a new car so having to pay any amount right now was not a welcome one. I got my S4 last night, jesus.... beautiful phone. I kid you not, 5 minutes to flash recovery and load a new custom rom.
I will say this, not happy about the internal memory availability. But I was going to buy an SD card anyways.
Those thinking about getting an S4, you simply can not go wrong, and boy is there a huge difference even between the S3 to the S4.
200 bucks down payment, 20 bucks a month, since I am on the old school plan, tmobil is including those 20 bucks in my current bill. In essence, I got the phone for 200 bucks.

Nice! Also you can just find a rom that has the bloat removed completely or get an app like nobloat free to help remove it. That would solve the problem with the memory.

My contract with Verizon ended yesterday so now I'm month to month on my unlimited data plan for my wife and I. I'm really having a hard time deciding what my next phone will be. We're both still rocking the OG Droid, and while Verizon has its holy trinity of new phones out now, each one of them has things about it that turn me off, so I've been having a hard time picking which one to go with.
Meanwhile, Amazon has its penny pincher sale going on and I'm really tempted to just get a Galaxy S2. It's not a perfect phone either, but it has more of the total package for me than any other phone right now and to get 2 of them basically for free is hard to pass up. I keep playing with it at Best Buy and going back to the ridiculously gorgeous screen and insane performance. I'd also be able to save a little money monthly as I could get a plan with fewer minutes on AT&T due to the unlimited mobile to any mobile package they have.
With that said it'd tough to justify leaving Verizon. Their service has been incredibly reliable for me over the last two years, and unlimited data is tough to give up. Looking at my usage over the last few months it looks like I don't ever use much more than a gig of data on either line, but part of that is b/c my Droid sucks for any kind of multimedia and VZW's 3G is pretty slow. I think I could manage with the 2 gigs on each line, but I hate to give up unlimited on general principle. I'm also worried that AT&T's coverage won't be as reliable as VZW's, although I do like that their 3G speeds are much better so it wouldn't be the all or nothing type performance that VZW's cdma/LTE combo gives.
Has anyone else made this kind of switch, and does anyone think it's a good move or should I just stick with VZW?
For what it's worth I live in the Denver area so if there's anyone on here in that area I'd love to hear your thoughts on AT&T's coverage.

Well I believe Amazon's 1 cent sale only runs through Monday, so if I was going to pull the trigger on a switch I'd like to do it while I can get the GS2 basically for free.
As for the Nexus, I'm sure the user experience is going to be amazing on it and the screen is probably killer as well, but lack of an SD slot and kind of an average camera for such a high end phone has kind of turned me off to it. Eventually I'll get ICS on whatever phone I get, but I won't be able to improve the hardware of whatever phone I get.
The phone that I like best of the big 3 on Verizon is the Rezound actually. The screen is very nice and it has all the features I want. I expect it to be a beast when it gets rooted. With that said, the GS2 is just such a smooth phone.
I was thinking the opposite ..would it be stupid to leave at&t on unlimited w/ gs2 still within 30 days return and head to Verizon. :/

The iPhone 2 trick still gives any at&t user unlimited data for $30 a month.
I completely understand what you mean about the selection at Verizon though. Their phones are just not competative.
I have a few friends that were really looking forward to getting the sgsii when if came to Verizon. They were all mad when it came out that Verizon turned down the offer of getting the sgsii. Sure the nexus will be going there first, but it's not mind blowing. Really thought google would've went above and beyond with 'their' phone.
I've really been loving this phone. I waited 1 1/2 years to get this phone. Not this particular phone, but one that had all the high points. Fast dual core, 1gb ram, great screen, nfc, solid dev support. While I'm sad it didn't come with an FM radio, I really couldn't ask for anything more out of this phone.
In my opinion, if you don't go for this phone, wait for the quad cores. They'll be coming somewhat soon. I can't see any reason to go with another phone (with the exception of the Samsung note, but I know I'd use that screen size for my work).

Well there was a thread on it but either it's been deleted or I just can't find it.
By putting your sim card into an Iphone 2 it force upgrades your plan to unlimited. Part of how that phone was designed. There's a few more steps than that but the rest can be found by searching google, and if the other thread was deleted I don't want to be the cause of this thread getting removed.

Was also going to mention the iPhone trick. The SGS 2 is a really nice phone. I had the I9100. Two of my friends have the ATT version and they are identical except the domestic version doesn't have the physical home button. There is even a hack to get I9100 rome on the ATT version now.
If you can get that phone for a penny it is definitely a good deal. Head over to the xda marketplace and see if there is an OG iPhone available. Several of the regulars have them.
The best thing about ATT is that you can swap phones at anytime...if you're a phone whore like me that's a big deal
Good luck bro!
Trey
I would for sure reccomend this phone. I came from a dumbphone to this, so anything was better, but everything you talked about liking is exactly why this phone rocks. I picked mine up at radio shack for $50 but that was because I only had an upgrade. I still feel like I got a steal. Pull the trigger!

The phone itself is AMAZING, but I don't know if I could recommend it enough to leave unlimited data. My personal 2 cents.
I would see how att's coverage is in your area. Every place is different. Here it's about the same as Verizon but i know plenty of places where it is not. Verizon's 3g is God awful, but their lte is so bad ass. Unlimited data is not an issue as others have mentioned. Good luck

This phone is the best. I went to this phone from a Verizon galaxy s. I still have my Verizon account though. And am going back as soon as galaxy nexus comes out. And I think galaxy s2 may just be better. But......att is not as good as Verizon. Their data speed tests about twice as fast Verizon but ping is twice as slow. So in actuality they are pretty close in speed. That is until Lte. And 3g here drops off once you leave main cities. On Verizon 3g is everywhere. I really miss Verizon and can't wait til galaxy nexus comes out. I just ordered a rezound for my girlfriend so I'm gonna use that til gnex and let her use the sgs2. And I really love this phone. It perfect. But not worth att. Also since switching I have noticed call quality go down and more dropped calls. Not that anyone really uses the phone anymore. My mom got a thunderbolt and Lte is nice. Quick tests I got 100 ping and 9 down and 6 up. So yeah. Stay with Verizon. They really are better. Even if att has the best phone. And I'm really disappointed with the gnex. Camera seems to be a flop and I think anything bigger than the sgs2 is too big. There are many times I have to stretch my fingers to the top. Not bad but this is the limit. This is all from a heavy user.

Depends on your area I guess. Does Verizon have more of a reliable coverage area for you, or does AT&T?
Also, how much data do you and your wife consume? If not a whole lot, 2GB may be fine for you until you do the iphone trick. If you do use a lot of data, then having unlimited already with Verizon might be a dealbreaker for you.
Remember, new phones are always coming out. Just because Verizon dosent have any phones that you REALLY like right now dosent mean that they wont have any next month or after the first of the year.
Iphone 2g tricks is the way to go with att. Did it myself and hooked up my friends do. Still works ;-)

I think it's going to be about 100 bucks under retail, depending on shipping arrangements. It's kind of a hard decision to make, selling it, because it locks me into my DX2 for a bit longer--but I think I want the cash to buy a Google Nexus 7. I **** with my phone so much because I don't have a tablet. So the reasoning is, get a tablet, stop ****ing about with the phone.
Reality will eventually strike I'm sure, and I'll just find myself ****ing with the tablet and the phone.

Well, I spent nearly 300 bucks, even with my discount, which Version (of course) managed offset with their "upgrade" fee--so 300 bucks from my sale price pays off the credit card, leaving 275 or so to the Nexus 7 and accessories--basically makes it free.
I'm really tempted to just keep the phone. What I'm thinking at the moment (which may change once the phone is in my greedy little paws) is that my DX2 will last until Christmas and I'm sure I'll end up being able to scoop up something decent off Swappa or CL as a gift.

I ordered later, I won't have it for another day. I'm absolutely going to sell it though, I decided I really want the GooNex 7 and selling the S3 gets it in my hands for no real cost.
Well, I guess it shipped earlier than expected, I just got the phone. Damned Motorala, they've gotten me used to wanting to hold a solid phone, this S3 feels like cardboard. It boots pretty damned fast, maybe under 30 seconds, I haven't timed it, but it feels really fast. The screen is MUCH nicer than I thought it would be and it's snappy as can be, programs pretty much fly open, transitions are beautiful.
Anyway, I'm not going to spend much time getting used to it, it will be on CL and Swappa tomorrow.
If anyone here wants this phone, I'll sell it for 580.00 and cover the cost of USPS priority mail.
Ended up selling locally for $570.00, I'm pretty happy. I feel like the guy who bought it got a good deal and I have enough left over after paying off my card to order the GooNex7.
So I'm switching to T-Mo hopefully within a couple of weeks, and I really like the S3 and the One S. I like the S3 more, but I don't know if it's worth the extra $130. Opinions?

If you're cost conscious, get the Galaxy Nexus for $350 from Play with t-mobile's $30/month, 100 minute 5GB prepaid plan (supplementing the 100 minutes with a google voice caller like groove ip). Over the course of two years, the lower plan cost would save you approximately $1000 (assuming that you would've otherwise gotten an $80 plan, not unrealistic including taxes).
Why the Galaxy Nexus? Because it's pentaband. Unfortunately the unlocked versions of the S3 and One X don't support t-mobile's frequencies as far as I know. You could buy the t-mobile version up front, but you'll eat an extra $300 that way for a phone that won't even work with any other carriers if you change your mind. You'd still save $700ish, but it's hardly ideal.

I own a One S and have used an S3. My opinion is that the S3 is only superior in its display. Speed-wise, the S3 and One S are neck and neck. Some tests even show the One S beating out the S3.
At the speeds these phones are at, you won't notice a difference in the overall experience between the 2. However, most people tend to get the S3, since it's the newer phone and has the nicer screen. I personally chose the One S since its screen is only 4.3 inches, which makes it much more comfortable to hold.
Either way, you can't go wrong. Both have good mod support and plenty of ROMs that range from modded stock ROMs, all the way to CM10/AOKP/AOSP roms.

I'm waiting for the Two hah
Seriously though non-expandable memory kinda kills it for me on the One S and reading the display isn't as sharp as the s3 is a deal breaker for me. One S with non-removable battery cover? Sealed? Ugh what a nightmare..
my answer is different.
if you have big hands or like touchwiz, then use gs3, BUT if you don't have that big of hands(me), or like sense 4(me), then use one s as that is smaller
and even though gs3 has removable storage, it still cannot be used as ext. so all the people you hear saying that sd card is good, I have just shot down half their aurgument
so if you buy an 8 gig galaxy s 3, you actually have less storage space than a one s as you 64 gb SD card is useless except for games and movies
so recap: if you has big hands then get galaxy s 3, if you has small hands get one s
or be me and wait for htc one x+

an external sd can also be used as swap partition serving as more ram. you can also install your apps on the sd card instead of internal memory. s3 is probably the best phone out there so far.

Hello fellow noters
I recently out of decided to sell my galaxy note to get the nexus 4 ( to use on simple mobile) and to my dismay the g-note i717 has a really really low resale value. From what I have seen on ebay and craigslist the average cost for a i717 is around the low 300s, which for me is bad, Very bad. If you take into account the money that paypal and ebay take for the commission of the sale you are left with 250 something. This probably has to do with the release of the note2 only 6 months later than the original note.
I'm not complaining because this is still a great device but the loss of value took me by surprise, but I will definitely think twice before getting another Samsung device close to its release date.
In conclusion my friends I would advice you that if you want a Samsung device wait 4-6 months and buy it out of contract for 1/2 the price and if you are planning on reselling it later take a deep breath before looking for the resale values.
IMHO I see the Nexus 4 as a Downgrade from the Galaxy Note 1...
NO SD CARD.
Non-Removeable Battery
Max 16 Gigs of Storage.. Max..
Smaller Screen....
But.. Enjoy
All android phones lose there value fast because theres a new better one every week. The reason something like iphone hold there value so long is because there is only 1 a yr.

I see it as a huge upgrade because
I don't need more than 16GB of storage because I don't put 50000 songs on my phone when I don't listen to them all anyways.
I don't really need to remove the battery ever, and it has better battery life than my note which is horribly awful.
It has android 4.2 official from the get go, and will get future android updates a week or so after announcement. Current note doesn't have official 4.1 yet, and 4.2 is out! And CM10 is still not stable. I'm so done waiting 6 months for an android update, especially with how awesome the changes have become.
Screen is a bit smaller yes, but it's higher PPI.
2GB of RAM is very necessary for anyone who is a power user. I constantly have to reload apps.
Quad core krait is awesome and should never lag. note1 lags often.
It doesn't have LTE which does actually suck but will be better for battery life and HSPA 42 in Canada is pretty good
And it's $350!
You could argue the Note2 is a better phone than the nexus4 and in many ways it is, but I still think getting android updates is more important for me. And the price is great.
I'll be selling my note1 for $300 next week. It's lower than I'd like but allows me to upgrade to the nexus4 for very cheap!
Sound Like They're Getting Your Money.
I"ll Keep My Note *1* And My $30.00 A Month T-Mo Plan And Jamie's ParanoidAndroid JellyBean Rom All Day Long Over A Phone That Won't Allow Me To Expand My Memory Forcing Me To "The Cloud" And Not Even Allowing Me Access To My Phone's Battery Making Me A *Slave* To A Charging Outlet...
Enjoy Your Nexus 4....
The main reason I'm switching is because even with the blaze radios my speeds are very very slow. I am going to miss the spen, and my 32 gb sd card but due to the lack of support from Sammy to their devices and the low resale value I refuse to spend 700$ on a note 2.
The reason for this post is to tell you guys to get prepared for the loss of value when you try to upgrade from the note.

I bought my og note when att was doing their $50 refurb note upgrade deal. Mines legit very rarely reboots even at 1836mhz . I'm gonna wait till something better is available for another deal like that. Then you don't have to trip on ever losing money.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't like contracts much less with att. This is mostly for people like me that buy off contract and use pre paid that the depreciation of the phone affect us. IMO signing a contract with att or Verizon is like selling your soul for a discount on a device you end up paying triple by the end.
that sucks you should have waited and sold it on CL and would have received more money...You were in to much of a hurry to sell if that you lost money...Everyone else is getting 350 min for there device....And the nexus 4 sucks...YOUR complaining the note 1 has no value??? Good luck selling that Lg phone.. lmao...you'll get 100 dollars for that LG ...You make no sense...Note 2 crushes that toy!

I haven't sold it yet and I'm not complaining, I love this thing. I don't really mind if the nexus loses value because it only costs 350$, but that is another topic.
the Note does have a low resale value if you take in to account that it used to cost around 700$ and now you have to negotiate with someone to barely get half of your investment. Samsung products do devaluate quite fast because they flood the market with their phones, release new version every 6 months and they give retailers the option to sell the phone at the price they want. I got an S3 four months ago for 615 and I went to the same store today and saw it for 500. There is nothing bad with that, if you use it to your advantage and wait a while to get a great product for 2/3 of the its first retail price.

How do you figure it is triple? I have been on At&t since 1994. Not going to change. Have 5 lines with them. Always had great service. It would make no.sense not to get it subsidized for me. Going to to pay same price for service whether off or on contract.
from a galaxy far far away....
The triple is for the overpaying the service (I used to pay 120 more or less monthly on att for the past 5 years now I pay 50 everything unlimited) and if att works for you awesome, but all of this talk about subsidizing strays from the fact that the note devaluates pretty fast.
I've never seen a phone hold value...Technology is constanly upgraded and replacing other models every month..Just the way it is..Computers are worth half as less in about 3 months as well...
Ello mate!
Honestly if you want to sell your note then that's perfectly fine. You don't need to justify your decision to sell to the people on this forum because what is it to them if you sell or keep? Lol I don't know why people get butt hurt over it when it has nothing to do with them. Will they be using the phone or is it for you? Also don't let people's opinions discourage you. The nexus 4 is awesome and I want to get one as well....note is great but i have decided it's just too big for me. I am a very active person and it is actually getting in the way rather than simplifying my life. Can't go running with it. Can't take it to the gym..nope! Can't walk around the gym with the note in my gym shorts lol. I don't want to shell out additional money for another mp3 player.
I agree with you on the resale value. I put mine up on Craigslist for 430 and got so many low ball offers it's ridiculous. I am just going to keep it now ... meh.
I am buying a Note II this week, but only because my corp plan lets me it it for $200. The Spousal Unit would never allow a $750 + tax phone purchase in this house.
If I get $300 for the Note I then I am happy, since it lets me purchase the next upgrade for next to nothing.
That said, I am thinking of holding on to the Note I until December when the official JB comes out. The Note I does lag on stock rom a bit (never tried the custom JB ones), and I want to be able to sell it to non-XDA folks with full S-pen support. I am thinking that the Note I stock experience will be much better in December, and that if I show it to a couple of people I know they will be happier with it then. If an offer comes by before then, I'll let it go at that time I suppose.
My brother just sold his Note for $300 to a guy in Sudbury. He was a bit disappointed as well.
I told him it's a niche phone with low demand in a small market.

Read the important part in red which you missed. If you have ONE LINE, non-contract makes sense in some cases. If you have more than one, nope.
As for the OP's whinge, who cares, everything that isn't a "durable product" devalues fast, think about how many THOUSANDS your car devalues the second it's "used".

100% true! the nexus 4 will be worth nothing as Google drops its price, and I sold one of my skyrockets for 350 on Craig's list so I'd sell my note 1 for $400 up, and I'm in Fl too. Its all about the condition of the phone. If your note is mint like mine you'll sell it for $400 cause people will rather pay $400 for perfect condition than $300 for some old scratched up junk. In 6 mo. Your $350 nexus will be worth $199 or less cause its used. How's that for devaluation.

Well that and Apple sells all their hardware at a high margin keeping the prices high at retail.
Hey guys, cool forums! I joined because I was planning on rooting my Nexus 7 once it gets here, but now I have this problem and I'm wondering if I can get some advice.
I warrantied my first Rezound about a year ago, but I can't remember what it was to be honest For one year I've had some issues, but nothing I needed to warranty it for. I don't do anything on my phone except emails, internet, youtube, and a few apps here or there. A few days ago, my phone froze during mid phone call and wouldn't turn off, so I pulled the battery, put it back in, and it wouldn't turn on or charge. So I warrantied it, and got my replacement Rezound today. Only.... it freezes in like 10-15 seconds when you unlock the phone and try to do anything. No matter what I do, it freezes always when I'm using it, turns off, and turns back on. So I have to warranty this one too, and the next one should get here Friday. On top of that, every single time I went to the verizon store the service desk people gave me an attitude about it.
Only question is, do you think I should keep getting them replaced until I get a good one, sell it on ebay, and upgrade to a new phone? This has honestly been a hassle for me, and I don't want to wait for my phone to break again. So.. what do you guys think? I'm looking at the Galaxy Note 2 and the DNA. If they are leaps and bounds better than the Rezound, it may be worth selling then. I just ordered a Nexus 7, so maybe I'll return if I go with the Note II. I did say before that I only use my phone for a few things, but that is more because of the small size and battery life making it almost incapable of doing so. Lately I've been thinking that getting a tablet will allow me to do more productive things when I'm not on my laptop, but if I get a Note II, maybe I won't need one after all.
Thanks!
If you want to you could try running an ruu assuming that your rezound is still unrooted and locked.

I'm very much a beginner to this kind of stuff, but basically is that installing a new android os over the current one? I thought the freezing has something to do with the hardware. I guess I'll just wait for my replacement to get here first.
Mainly I was just asking if it is worthwhile to hold onto it or sell it and upgrade to a DNA or Note II, assuming they are better phones. I've had nothing but trouble with it so I am biased, I just wanted to get some honest advice. Thanks for your reply
Edit: Also I want to tether my Nexus 7 to my 4G phone (whichever it will be) but I read somewhere that Foxfi has issues with Rezounds. Is this true?

I have had issues with the Rezound, since March of 2012 I have gone though 8 Rezounds. I finally told them enough is enough, so I picked a different unit. I would give Verizon a call and let them know that we can play this game of you keep sending out Rezounds or give you the option of choosing something different. Do not get me wrong, I loved my Rezound dearly, I just could not do this dance anymore with Verizon. I would not waste your renewal because they send you a faulty unit. And if you sell it you are just sending your headache to another person. Get them to do the right thing to make you happy, you are the paying customer.

Really? The sales people at the Verizon store I go to (it's actually the biggest, actual Verizon store I know of near me) are incredibly unpolite at times, so I doubt I'd get anywhere with them. Can I call someone instead to do this? Hmm now I got to look at phones again Possibly the Droid Razr Maxx HD for the battery life (since I plan on tethering), but the DNA looks good too (but with the Nexus 7, I think that a phone almost the same size is pointless). What do you think? thanks

Best bet is to call, I had a thunderbolt and went through 7 in 8 months. They will let you change to a "like" device what ever that means. When I switched to the Rezound, I had the choice of a this or a gnex, or another Samsung. Went with the Rezound because they included a extended battery for free.

Thanks guys, I was able to get a (certified) Galaxy S3 instead of another Rezound, but this is through their program (and not new) so we'll see! It's coming Monday.
The only thing I'm pissed about was rep on the phone charged me $80 for the GS3 battery, door, and charger (which doesn't come with the phone), but I guess it's the price I have to pay for pretty much upgrading my old phone.
I'd get a different phone. I've had 7 replacement rezounds sent to me and of all those I had only one good one and that was the second one I got back in February. I started getting replacements because this ones front camera sensor is sketchy. I just decided to keep it though because all the replacements were in much worse condition.

$80 for a $400-$500 phone on ebay used sounds like a good deal to me bro. Plus you're still covered by the Verizon warranty...

He didn't get the phone as an upgrade. If there is nothing wrong with your Rezound don't bother calling in and abusing the system to try to get another device.
Oh quick question guys, because when I replaced previous Rezounds, I left out the battery, micro sd, and sim in the phone I was sending back. Do I do the same for this exchange? I guess I am.

You paid for the battery/back for the GS3 don't see why you wouldn't be able to keep your Rez door/battery and SD.
