Hello need fast help. Have just flashed dark chrome theme from themes section. And all my internal card data wiped there was my elwctronics engineers bachelors degrees photos. Any help? Or i should find theme creator and kill him?
Probably the second option is more easy
To be honest there might be a very low chance to get the files back:
- boot into recovery
- do an image backup of the SD card partition
- loop mount image on your PC as a partition
- use file recovery tools on that partition
For backing up, you can use my A.R.T. tool (http://anddisa.tk)

Gry the app called undelete. If this doesn't help there are programs for PC that find the deleted files. It worked for me. The pics won't be the same resolution but it's still better than nothing

Find the theme creator & kill him ? No. It's your fault, you flashed it. And if they were that important to you, who's a bigger fool for not having a backup which takes a few minutes ?

Easy man Okay, it's his own fault, but I honestly think he wasn't planning a drive by
Everyone here should know that if you flash something, anything, you do so at your own risk. And you always do a backup before you flash anything. People who don't & end up in the you know what deserve zero sympathy. And derision when they start blaming other people for something that's of their making.
Well, I agree with you: having a backup is always the best way to prevent those cases, but ...
If I flash something (in this case a theme), I can imagine that due to flashing something wrong my system is mixed up / no longer booting / what ever ... But I would never expect that the internal sdcard partition will be erased. This has nothing to do with the theme. Either the OP has done a mistake while flashing the theme (in this case it's his fault), or the theme / installation script has a bug and erases the partition. In that case the OP is right to be angry ...
Important documents should always have a copy in the cloud...
That way, u won't lost it even if ur phone explodes!

Well firstly this is not your personal support forum and people here are not paid to help you so putting things like "Help very fast" in title isnt going to make people help you faster, its just going to annoy people.
Second, it is not the rom/theme etc creators fault for your own incompetency for not having automated or manual backups of your important data.

1. ALWAYS backup your ROM before doing anything with even the smallest chance of something going wrong. I hope you learned your lesson, friend!
2. External partitions in SD card to provide more space doesn't give any boost in performance, so I have no idea where you read that from.
3. Did I tell you about always backing up your ROM?
To answer your question:
Since you have no recovery image, then you have no way of restoring, unless you've backed up somewhere. I would recommend to just flash another firmware from ODIN.
next time...if you doesnt wanna lose u r data while partitioning, use ubuntu, and use tool named "gparted"

I understand... You'll need "Bad Copy Pro". I don't endorse copy right infringement or software piracy, but it can be found on many torrent sites cracked and working perfectly. Until you get a copy and scan the microsd don't write anything to it. Only the path to the file is deleted, but the data often remains until overwritten...

I would not try using software with that important stuff you lost.
Go professional and find a recovery company. It will cost you good money, but chances are very high that it can be recovered that way.
Stop doing anything with that sd card though.

Problem is that he didnt "just" delete files. He repartioned it. Probably formatted it afterwards.

As long as you didn't rewrite the partition, there's still some chance of recovery.
On Ubuntu (although I think there's also a Windows version, too), download the testdisk and photorec programs. I once used it to recover a 70-page internship report, and it not only found those files, but also files from around 2 years ago (even some files from when the OEM people were customizing it).
It lasts around 12 hours for a complete recovery of a 250GB drive (and the data recovered will be >250GB), so I'd say around half an hour for a 8GB microSD card.
Forgive my maths.
Hope you get your data back
I dont know if this will help but hope you recover your files.

Hi guys,
Right so I own both Galaxy SII(personal), GT-S5830(business) and my wife has a GT-S5830. Located in the UK
Now I have been looking at the latest CyanogenMod and would like to install this ROM on my GT-S5830, as I understand this is one of the best custom ROM's available for this phone.
However every where I read advises me to first backup my /efs folder, only problem is I can't find this folder to back it up! So far I have tried EFS Pro and a few others, but they all fail or give me an empty folder.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I have been researching this since Friday and I'm pretty much ready to blow a gasket....
Dont ever try to touch ace efs partition as its dangerous. Many had hard brick their ace because of tinkering with that efs partition. Ace's efs partition is abit different from other device because it's hidden and unmounted upon booting.
Btw try LEWA rom

If that's the case why is everyone telling me to back it up? I'm more interested than ever now lol, is the Ace the only one that has this partition hidden?
Everyone from where? I never came across any post here on ace forum that advice to tinker with the efs partition. And its stupid to advice to do so on ace because in order to backup it u need to mount it first and thats when disaster strike.

I thick it has something to do with IMEI coz some guys r loosing their IMEI after flushing custom Roms which results to no signal situation meaning ua phone is done 4 real coz there is no known way of recovering it 4 Our ace
I keep reading that it is wise to back up this folder before you start flashing new ROM in case you screw this folder up.
U read that on other device forum, not here on ace forum. As i said earlier, dont ever touch ace's efs partition.
But if u insist of doing so, theres a thread here somewhere guiding howto network unlock ace, and in the process also explain howto mount that particular hidden partition. May god be with u if u ever try to do it.

Maybe you should read my OP before you make comments, I used the search button, spent two days doing research and found nothing directly relating to what I asked.
If you don't have anything constructive to say then say nothing at all.
There are a few apps in the market which can backup your efs folder.

Don't listen to anybody who says to leave the efs alone. I don't have your device but I STRONGLY urge you to find a way to back up that file. If you have already rooted the phone then a good file explorer should allow you to make a copy and send it to dropbox or save it to your external SD. Even mass storage and copy/paste it to your hard drive on your computer. And yes... CyanogenMod is the very best.

Ok, I've gotten the pure stock ICS and installed it. Now, something I have noticed is that no matter what I do, I can never get all of the files in my phones directory be completely stock. There are some that files left over from applications and such. I would just go "willy nilly" deleting everything i thought didn't belong in there except that the last time I did that I hard bricked my Captivate. I love my Note and don't want to hurt it!!! Any advice or screen shots of a truly stock file setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :cyclops:

I dont understand your question or post. You want to keep your ICS completely Stock? Wouldn't be completely Stock if dont install any apps?
Or you referring to removing all the bloatware? Then you need to be Rooted, and then use a non stock app>Tibu to remove your bloatware?
But to be rooted there are measures to take to get Rooted.
clarification
what i am asking is when you go to applications then my files what does stock setup look like. i install and uninstall so much crap all the time and everything seems to leave folders and files behind. From time to time i'd like to just clear everything thing out that i don't need. In order to do that safely, however, i have to know what i DO need so i don't brick another phone. thanks.
the best way to remove the unwanted items on the internal SD, is to format the emmc in recovery (CWM)
this will "wipe" the internal space of the device, and repopulate only the specific device information pertaining to the rom on reboot.
but i caution you.......(please read this) !!
Although the risk is low, you can possibly delete items that you should not have. I.E.
data that you should back up prior to removal. photo's, documents, data from specific system apps etc.
But i've done this at least a dozen times since owning my note, as it strips all garbage left over from previous roms etc.
Again, you do this at your own risk, and i assume no liability from "your" choice to wipe the emmc partition, or any other partition on your device.
long story short, format emmc from recovery, and your internal storage will be "empty" as in nothing left. then on reboot, the device rom will re-populate the bare minimum file structure to run. So back up anything/everything you want to keep, and place it on PC...then it can be moved back if needed.
Now i dont know your skill level, or your root status etc. so if you are not rooted yet...see the "note everything" thread at the top of the general section. It is the best guide i've ever seen. and it will guide you through any process you want to use. with the exception of the one i just gave you...LOL
this method is no joke...and you "must" be sure that you understand what you are doing, and how to recover the device if something goes wrong.
good luck, and be careful !!!....g

A few days ago i put on Siyah neweset 5.0.1 kernel on my S2 and overclocked but my performance hasn't increased much so i'm gonna put Ressurection Remix ROM now but the first step on the guide says to format my phone and i hate loseing my things, is there anyway to keep my stuff on the new ROM D: ? I'm not sure what to do QQ i don't wanna screw this up, also i'm gonna make a few backups, cuz 1 isn't enough.
Over clocking doesn't increase performance per se.
You can use titanium backup to backup and restore your current apps. Use SMS backup+ for your texts and call lists.
Images, vids, music etc are unaffected by formatting via CWM.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
If you want to switch to another ROM, I guess it's best to backup all your apps via Titanium Backup. As far as I remember, the list displays white apps, red ones and green ones. The red ones are system apps and you should backup them since they differ from ROM to ROM. The white ones are apps which you have installed on your phone (via Google Play...). The green entries are things like "Messages" "Phone call history" and stuff like that.. I guess you can backup them too.
You won't loose your contacts as long as they are stored on your googlemail-account. So no need to safe them.
Then just backup your current ROM via ClockworkMod (I guess one backup is enough :b - If you want to be 100% sure try to backup and right after it finished try to restore the backup. If it works (in 99,9% of all cases) you can just flash your new ROM - if it didn't work try to backup+restore again. As soon as you've got a working backup (I guess the first backup will be OK), flash the new ROM and restore the needed apps via Titanium Backup again. (Just download Titanium Backup right after flashing RR and you will be able to restore every single app again).
More and more ROM devs advise not to restore apps via Titanium Backup, but it always worked fine for me
Hope I helped you,
experience7

Anyway, i've been useing this rom since yesterday, it's awesome .. mostly
Some minor disadvantages, some things like Clock crash, won't update some things but that's normal.

I am usually here hoping to help others, now its my turn..............
I am a bit stumped here. I am trying to figure out why my phone doesn't seem to want to run 4.3
I have tried almost all of them. with stock kernel and alternate. I am not flashing a bunch of extra stuff or anything and ran various different builds. I am not trying to over rev the engine either. ive done these test over the past 2 weeks so i know i am not rushing anything
what I had been doing was flashing a ROM, any 4.3 and appropriate Gapps. I am very hygienic flasher and very careful to flash compatible packages. I would flash package and then use APP2ZIP to bring back all my apps. on the average about 24 hrs after flashing, I get reboot and it wont come back up. just keeps boot looping. I was thinking maybe had something to do with the apps i saved and flashed from APP2ZIPP being from 4.2 Gapps??? and i am trying to run 4.3 now. sounds kind of dumb now that i am typing it but, you pour a shot glass full of information into a thimball size brain, and you are bound to spill something.
so i tried today the 8/26 build of PAC ROM and did not flash my app zip. 2 hours later.........boot loop.
4.1 & 4.2 does not do this..............i don't get it.
is it something so simple it just got spilled?
4.3 didn't like my phone much either .........

i have thought about that, read that others have done this..........i get a little nervous on things like this though. i have seen so many files and not sure what comes in the OS and what i ended up putting in there. whats ok to dump and whats not. or if i dump it all, will the necessities load back in with new ROM? honestly, i can get so nervous on what i consider a drastic move, i will say some very stupid things.

i have thought about both of these. i don't really consider this TROUBLES. not like i cant run any of these great ROM's on this excellent site. i cant eat caviar, but i am definitely NOT starving. i just cant seem to run 4.3. you think the flash counter has anything to do with??? i know, another dumb comment.

I've ODIN'd back to stock several times when I start getting unusual problems. Very simple process actually and BlownFuze has a simple guide with the necessary files to download in his AOKP thread. Just save your music, pictures, ringtone, notification, SMS backup and download folder files and any other files you have added to phone storage to your PC. Flash back to stock, root and install TWRP then wipe everything including emmc and away you go. If you go into TWRP and mount your storage you'll find that the file transfer to and from the PC goes much faster. Hope this helps.

Hope this helps.

i thank you for your feedback .i have returned to stock many times. it is the suggestion of clearing internal storage and deleting something vital. like going in for hangnail and removing the brain.
back on 4.2 until i get my ducks in a row and rehearse the process.

Yeah, I know you make the rounds here and it always seemed like you know your stuff. I guess I didn't quite understand what you were asking.

i don't think we ever know as much as we want to know.
many times i tell folks to slow down, read and understand what you are doing. i try and do the same even on the most basic things. its when you get to comfortable that you make the dumbest mistakes. that's why i actually do kind of rehearse. i go through all the motions and my wife will even ask "who are you talking to?"
these devices are just too expensive to be careless. nobody is going to give me money or fix my phone for me.
I delete internal with every flash .. I do complete wipes every time haha

Cap, my wife has my Note now, but it's running the first nightly of official 10.2 with Jamie's uber kernel.
Now, I don't mess with the kernel or change anything....I run just like Jamie offers it. And I mainly use the kernel for the swipe2wake feature. I didn't experience any r/r's when I was using it and let me tell you, if my wife was having problems.....she would be *****ing my head off.....

alright, so as I like to weigh my options, research and be confident.
I respect many opinions here and value experience. I agree that wiping the memory is probably not a bad idea. from what I gather, there are 2 ways to go about this..........
1. for arguments sake I will call it he manual way. where I need to move everything myself, either to SD or computer, wipe, then replace?
2. let KIES do all the work? honestly i have not used KIES in this type of situation.
will I need to root again or will it retain?
will KIES get a full erase as manual option my provide?
if I choose manual option how do I know I have moved ONLY my personal stuff and not a valuable part of the OS required for phone work after laying the ground to waste with napalm?
I can give anybody $500 or a brick, I don't need to make it myself
