Since I'm not able yet to post into the development forums:
I have decided to finally mod my Xperia S as well (did that only with HTC's before), and after unlocking the bootloader and slap Advanced Stock Kernel on it, i wanted to flash KA09 Xperia SSpeed. At first it all went well, no errors during installation but then i wanted to reboot, and the phone went into a permanent bootloop. There's the Sony startup screen with the Advanced Stock Kernel writing underneath, the blue LED flashes shortly, the phone vibrates, then it starts all over again.
I have tried SEUS but to no avail, since the phone will always restart, hence disconnecting to the PC. I also can't boot the phone into fastboot or recovery, or anything for that matter.

hold the power button + volume up then wait till it vibrates 3 times, your phone will power off. then you can use the SEUS, i think its via fastmode (power+volume down) to reflash or u can use flashtool to reflash ur firmware.
this is what i did when im stock on bootloop before (because i dont have back ups).
1. installed flashtool
2. download ftf
3. paste the ftf on c:\firmwares\
4. open flashtool then click the lighting icon, choose fastmode, choose ftf and wait until it says (power off phone then connect via fastmode), since your phone is power off all u need to do is to connect the phone and then hold the power button+ volume down.
5. then it will reinstall your firmware.
6. after reinstalled, flash advanced stock kernel.
7. then make back up of your rom so you dont need to reflash your firmware in case of bootloop.
now that was a quick reply, thank you very much. will try this and will post how it went!
Same problem
MichaelxHell, did it work, did you solve it?
If you did please let me know how you did because i have the same problem, will try what he said above too.

it will work because ive been there before
I was flashing ka xperia kernel (via recovery) over Advanced stock kernel and got this weird bootloop.
Sometimes i couldnt even start the freaking phone. So what i did was when the phone finally started and the botloop started i long pressed Vol Up and powerbutton for about 5sec (after the phone vibrates three times) so it would shut down, since i could not enter fastboot while it was bootlooping. Then held Vol Up (not Vol Down) while plugging in usb, only then i got to enter fastboot.
Then i only reflashed advance stock kernel (ics9.elf) and it finally booted back.
Might be helpful

When you go from STOCK STOCK you should first prepare by doing a backup and then erasing everything before even trying to install a custom ROM or another kernel.
When you install a kernel that has recovery, before trying to install the custom ROM be sure to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions.
Then you can install the custom ROM and after that be sure to also install the patched KA09 zip.
And even after that, remember, that is a development ROM not completely stable at all.

Okay, so i have flashed the Kernel from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280 and it brought my Xperia S back to life. the only problem now is, that the XPS won't boot into recovery. so far the ROM (KA09 Xperia SSpeed) is working fine, but it would be nice to have good old cwm back.. any help? thanks
Hello there!
This question might have appeared alot but I'll try to be as short and accurate as possible on the following:
About two weeks ago, I decided to root my Sony Live With Walkman (4.0.4 Ice cream sandwich) and now I'm thinking of installing Cyanogenmod 9 stable release. But I'll leave this mod for the last part and let us focus on the rooting process I've done.
I've used the following tutorial: talk.sonymobileDOTcom/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0
At first, I was unsuccesful but in the second try I had managed to root my device (Unlocked bootloader).
Being a bit tired over the official Sony ICS, I thought of putting Cyanogen to my device. This is where the things get confusing for me:
I've spotted multiple tutorials and each one is different and unclear to me. These two are the ones I'm thinking of as the most reliable sources:
- wiki.cyanogenmodDOTorg/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Live_with_Walkman:_Full_Update_Guide
- technologic101.wordpressDOTcom/2012/03/12/tutorial-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-9-0-ics-on-your-se-xperia-2011-device/
So, I have Cyanogen9 coconut, drivers, fastboot, google apps and proper FTF file downloaded.
But what now? Which tutorial is better and accurate for my state of device? Am I risking a brick by doing this? What are the current downsides of Cyanogenmod9 for this device?
Please, write your opinions, explain or link me to the proper guides for my case. I am grateful for any kind of information you give me!
Thanks!

Is kernel the TFT file or the Cyanogenmod zip file (about 125MB)? And how do I flash this with Flashtool?
Boot.img inside the zip is the kernel. Extract and flash that file using fastboot. After flashing the kernel, start your phone and enter recovery. From recovery flash the zip files
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
Okay then you have done have of the work.
Now backup all your contacts, apps, sms's etc. Then power off your device and boot into fastboot mode. Then take the kernel from the CM9 zip and flash it. After that start your phone and just when the logo gets brighter press the volume down button with which you will boot into the CWM recovery. After that navigate to backup and restore and backup your rom. Then do a wipe data/factory reset ,then wipe chache and after that go to advanced and then wipe the Dalvik Cache. After that go to install zip from sd card and then choose from sd card. then navigate to your rom and flash it. After the flashing is done flash gapps and then reboot.
Note: To navigate in CWM use your volume keys and use the home button to select.
To enter Fastboot: Plug the usb cable side into the phone and while you are plugging it into the computer keep
your volume up key pressed.
To flash a kernel: Put the kernel you extracted from the zip into your fastboot folder. Then open a command
prompt in that particular directory ( in Windows 7 press shift in a blank place and right click).
Then enter this command fastboot flash boot boot.img(Your phone must be in fastboot
mode for this.)
In my signature, there's a guide how to install a custom rom/custom kernels, maybe this could help you!
I would use the cyanogenmod full update guide :good:
You don't need any ftf, you flash a custom rom with clockworkmod (cwm), but this should be explained in the guide

Ran into a problem with ROM Manager :/ It's supposed to offer me recovery mode by rocking the volume up or down while device is rebooting, but none of these work (device boots normally).

It depends. If you wanna flash any CM or AOKP roms you have to flash thier respective kernels. If you want to flash any stock based roms you can flash any ICS or GB kernel you want like Mesa, Panic kernel etc.
As for how to flash a kernel refer to my post on the page before.

No. For entering the CWMR you have to press the volune down button when the bootup logo gets brighter. For this either you must have CWMR install or else you must have a custom kernel

That didn't work. When the Sony logo gets brighter, a blue LED lights up for that moment.
In cwm, selecting 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' opens up a box where my phone model is displayed. After that, it says it's unsupported and I can manually select either 2.x or 3.x+. I've selected the 3.x+ one and in the menu it says 'Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.X.X.X
Shall I try with 2.x? I have no clue here.

Hi,
I unlocked my xperia mini pro and then tried the Fastboot Tool to flash the boot.img that belongs to CM 10. It was always failing with the Fastboot and the command prompt fastboot.
By mistake, I flashed another .img file and now the phone decided now to start up. Not even given any LED colour or so.
What can I do?
Thanks
What Rom did you flash. Second kernel did you flash ?

Please flash a stock rom (ftf file) with flashtool first. If your device doesn't boot after this, then it is a real problem. Remember to wipe data.
Hi,
I started out by unlocking the bootloader and it worked fine.
I tried to boot the CM image file, it was always giving me an error in Fastboot mode saying that outside range or so.
Then I downloaded Rage and tried to fastboot that image, after several trials, I can no longer start my phone.
Thank you

There are download links in the sticked thread by someguyfromhell, download a ftf for your device
Open flashtool and click the flash, flashmode, select the ftf and click okay.
Now take out the battery of your phone, wait a few seconds, insert battery again, hold volume down, connect usb to pc while holding volume down, the green led will light up. The flashing process will start and when it's finished you will get a working rom again :good:
Or you could try to download a kernel for your device (like rage kernel), take off battery, insert it, hold volume up, connect it to pc while holding volume up, start flashtool, click the flash, fastboot mode, select the boot.img for your device, click ok. That's it

If you have made a cwm backup of stock rom or stock based rom, then when you are on the fxp kernel, do not restore the backup. Firstly, if you want to restore the cwm backup then flash rage kernel or any stock ics based kernel and then go to restore in cwm. You cannot use stock rom with fxp kernel because the kernel configurations are for cm and not stock.

Like the guys above said, flash rage kernel and afterwards restore the backup. This is if you want to come back to stock rom one time
I am on CM10 from FXP but made some changes by M66B (SK17 user too)
Look on my signature to download the last version of the extended ROM. Battery improvement on this ROM is one of the main features
Works the same or better than FXP one. The boot.img comes inside with the ROM zip file, just follow the steps listed by mihahn. Last version to this date is 202 ("~FXP202 features 1-3,7-9,12-13,23-24,26,28-38,40-42 (January 11, 2013)" that's the name of the zip file)

Click the lightenin icon (flash) select flashmode and then select the file you download, clear all wipes and exclusde everything but kernel, then flash.
This should flash onlu kernel.
If your bootloader is locked, don't flash any custom kernels.

If you only flashed the CM kernel then flashing stock should fix it.
Can't get into CWM recovery?
One more issue cropped up

As I don't follow CM11 development I have no clue.
Those are nightlies so you can expect issues.
Take logcat for those FCs and attach them to your question there.
Thanks
