I posted this in other forums, but have not found an answer. Hence this post. I would think this is a known problem because its so basic, but anyhow, here goes ...
I am a recent convert-in-process from Blackberry, but there are a couple of things for which I need to find a workaround. The main one is: Call logs do not retain the extension: e.g.,
Office: 123-456-7890
Worker1: 123-456-7890;1234
Worker2: 123-456-7890;5678
If I call Worker2, it will show up in my Call Log as "Office".
If I have only Worker1 and Worker2 on my contact list, calling Worker2 will show up as the first instance in the Contact list alphabetically where the main number is used -- in this case, it will show up as Worker1.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks,

I saw a pretty interesting topic at the SGS2 forum, where users complain that after removing the Name id application they cannot add call, create conference call, or put call on hold. They dont specifically mention ecid.apk by name, but i believe this is the apk for this application, so can anyone who have it removed tell if he or she has experienced the same issues after its uninstall?
Thanks
Yes, This is a known issue. There is something within the apk that allows you to make and receive multiple calls. If you do not have it installed your calls will fail.
I wonder if anyone has a solution to the following:
My colleague syncs their contacts with MS Outlook to her Galaxy S3 and keeps numerous additional details regarding their clients in the 'notes' field of each contact.
I have attached a screen shot of a similar situation using an HTC One X. Where the additional information contains a telephone number - the number itself is automatically highlighted and one touch loads the telephone number into the phone's dialler.
However, with the Samsung, all the information, including telephone numbers is in plain text and you can't load numbers to dial from there. A long press offers to copy the text - but only the entire 'notes' field!
This may seem insignificant but when the phone is used for business and for professional purposes you use the 'notes' field of a contact to keep lots of ancillary information which may include other telephone numbers it seems like a significant oversight. You suddenly find yourself one handed, trying to find a pen to copy down information on paper that should be easy to load with a single touch.
It works if numbers are sent as an sms to the phone so I don't see why it doesn't work within a contact's notes field like in the HTC.
If anyone can suggest a way around this I'd be very interested to hear and also if you think it's worth contacting Samsung themselves?
Many thanks in advance.
After trying to find an answer to this for months I decided to make a post. After converting my contacts from my old Windows Mobile Phone to a Note 3 I have exactly one contact with an issue. The issue is only in the text thread and is a problem when I try to send a text to the contact from the preexisting thread. The contact number at the top of the screen (below the name) has a letter in front of the number for some reason. The letter is not present if I go into the contact or if I export the address book to a spreadsheet through Gmail or Microsoft Live. I tried deleting the contact from Gmail and Live to see if it will start a new thread or fix the error, but it does not. The issue is not present when I create a new text to send to the contact so long as I am not doing it from the preexisting thread, but then everything ends up in the preexisting thread instead of a new thread.
Hopefully someone here can walk me through a backdoor way of editing a text thread to fix this issue with the random letter in front of the contact's number so I can have regular text conversations with this contact without deleting the entire thread and message history.
Is there a moderator able to help guide me in the right direction if this should be posted somewhere else?
Help!
I really could use some advice on this matter as I am yet to find a solution.
Hey all,
i am new in this forum. I need a very simple application that does the following.
When an incoming call is received, search within my calendar (preferable the calendar of my choice) and if the phone number is found for any calendar entry, display on my screen the event details.
I need this simple application so i will not have to save every single caller in my phone book.
Please help since i cannot find anything.
Thanks Heraklis

I've never seen one like that...but I was in kind of a similar situation because I get a good amount of calls for my business and often like to save the number with some notes for a few days or few weeks, but not necessarily in my contact list so I found this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apps.sreeni.qcktag&hl=en
When you "tag" a caller and they call back then you will see a pop-up with the name / info you added for the tag. So convenient to help keep organized.
thanks but...
Thank you for your reply but this is not what i need. I have call reminder pro which is similar, but this is double entry for me and it is time consuming. Any other solutions?

I recently got an SGS5, and I noticed something that has started to annoy me. Judging on what I can read online and from googling I am not the only one annoyed by it. But so far no one has actually provided a viable and working solution as far as I see it.
Problem:
I have several contacts with multiple phone numbers under them, and when I get texts from the various number it creates one new thread/conversation pr number they text me from and its getting to the point where it is getting annoying. Isn't there some way to fix or correct this?. ie where the phone defaults to respond to the last number it got a text from, from that contact, or that it simply defaults to sending a text out on the default selected number or asks?.
I am not looking for something or a solution that will merge all my threads back in time, but for something that works going forward so that all threads created from today and onwards gets merged.
I know Google Hangout apparently can do this, but I don't want to use Google Hangout as my default messaging app, and I am presently using HandCent in case there is a setting inside Handcent that I just need to set.
But I hope someone might have a working solution to my problem/issue & thanks in advance.
