[trade] 2 photons - Motorola Photon 4G

Looking to trade my 2 sprint photons for a T-Mobile note 2.
One photon has otr and os rooted only(cracked screen) still works perfectly im posting this from it. The cracks are minimal top left side of the screen.
Second it rooted bootloader unlocked and running Th3Bill's Liquid Smooth ROM. also willing to make cash trades and more. Hit me up with options!

Unlocked bootloader

So I'm really confused about this unlocked bootloader thing. Do we have one that will consistently work without breaking 4G or not? When I read the threads it isn't clear at all. Coming from an epic i am not familiar with unlocking bootloaders. I assume we need this to install custom roms?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Right now, unlocking the bootloader does break 4g.
The boot loader has to be unlocked to rewrite some of the partitions.
Alien Rom has a way to get it back - but honestly never read up on how.
Is there something we can do do...like a mass request to Motorola? ?? Request ing they fork over a unlocked bootloader for us to flash....it shouldnt be that hard for them
I believe thats what is really holding back this phone

Hasn't really worked in the past. If they release it they will when they feel like it.
It will take some trial and error and some blood sweat and tears but you can have working 4g on the custom rom of your choice. Not that there are many to choose from. I did it with the alien rom using the guides in the development forum. I felt like it was worth it at the time but honestly didn't even use 4g much because it drains the battery so much faster and the phone gets hot. Wifi works with an unlocked bootloader, and wifi doesn't drain the battery. So now i'm leaving the bootloader unlocked using the Homebase ROM with ext3 and overclocked kernel. It's amazing.

Yay4Jugs is still working on this and thinks he has a way to make it work. In another thread, he was looking for a 64bit computer to make this work, but I think he might have some help now and hopefully he can get it done for us.
Wish i could loan him my rendering machice
Anything we can do to help...i think the bootloader should be top priority ...once that is worked out im sure we will have more devs come in
This phone is a beast..i loved my EVO ..this thing blows it out the water...well almost the same..but a dual core with better radios and screen
..not to mention way better battery life
Let us know how we can help...

Well this thread definitely answered my question. I was wondering if photon had a nice collection of roms, but I guess the bootloader is not released yet which would be the major reason why developers haven't done anything with this little power house. I had the sensation 4g with tmobile and left tmobile to join the photon lifestyle right before they released the bootloader for the sensation 4g...so I missed the fun there and now I jumped to photon and now I'm on hold for the bootloader again fml. Does anybody have the slightest clue if motorola will be releasing it, cuz if not soon. I might be looking to get the samsung galaxy note, which looks like a monster from outer space with the specs it has. 5.1 inch screen 1.5 dual.core 800x1280 285ppi...omg

That's the million dollar question for us Photon users, isn't it?
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/445861#445861
On the Motorola support forum, one of their employees response to when the Photon's bootloader would be unlocked was, "This isn't solely up to Motorola"
Not that it will hurt, you could go on their support forum and voice your request too. That kind of conduct did prod them to release their source code.
I will get on there and voice it. Thanks they need to release it soon !!!!!!!!!! im pulling out what little hair i have. lmao

A 5.3 (not 5.1) inch mini-tablet with a stylus is just too big to carry as a phone for me - but a cool device! And probably available sometime late next year.
It is pushing it isnt it? lol. well i think thats the bigest im willing to go, a made a full scale print out down to the last mm. buy looking at the specs and im a graphics designer so i put the print out in my hand with a HD7 behind it to get a feel and it wasnt to bad to be honest. it ways the same as a hd7 (with a ruber protector) but since i do graphics i think thats whats swaying me towards it, so can proof print quality pdfs on the go, for work.

AT&T Galaxy Note for sale!

Hey guys, I wanted to sell my Note so I figured this would be the best place to throw it up first, especially since its rooted and running a custom rom. It has a few scratches on the screen but only one is noticeable at all when the screen it on and its only about a half centimeter in length. There are also a few chips around the bezel. This phone has been my DD since launch so its gotten some pretty heavy use but is in overall great shape. Currently its running CWM 5.4.4.8 (I think, I'll have to double check) and The Collectives AOCP 4.1. It is a $600 phone off contract so I was hoping to get $400, but its negotiable. I'll post some pictures below. Please PM me about it.

Yes,
Sir as stated best place for this is the Market Place, but since you may meet the requirements to post there, better to utilize CL or Ebay.
Thank You & Thread Closed

No more Marketplace for buy/sell?

What happened to the Marketplace? Was going to garner interest to see if I could possibly sell my tablet (NVflashed, but screen/LCD is broken, have a replacement digitizer that works [v0.3] and LCD on the way, but I have a feeling it won't arrive from China).
If anyone knows let me know...can't find anything on it, or if they changed where to post things people are looking for or what to get rid of.

The market has been shut down. XDA rules state there is no buying or selling between members permitted on xda. This includes any threads or private messages. It is no longer permitted period.
See the bottom of the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
It states " Marketplace
The Marketplace is CLOSING for new threads November 19 2012
The Marketplace will CLOSE COMPLETELY Nov 30 2012
Selling, trading and exchanging devices or any item will no longer be permitted in any forum or via Private Messages."

The marketplace closed because the higher-ups believed it was too risky.
Most of us moved to a different marketplace site. If anyone would like a link to the site, send me a message.

[Q] Noob Planning to Order Dev Model

I have never tried to root a phone and don't know if I ever will (scared to brick it), but I think I'll order the HTC One 64GB Dev model. Why? Well, I am still mid-contract with ATT on my SG3, so for the same price (or perhaps a bit less) I can have an unlocked SIM and not have unnecessary ATT programs and logo on the phone. I hope I am correct in assuming that:
1) I can "plug and play" my current ATT SIM card into the HTC One and it will work just fine.
2) If HTC releases updates, I will be able to get them faster than those who are on ATT branded phones.
Are there any concerns I should have? Thank you!
Yes and yes
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Only concerns are warranty. Its probably easier to get a replacement through ATT if something is wrong. But since you have another device to use while its sent back to HTC, then this maybe a very minor concern. I am getting square trade or similar warranty on my dev edition when it arrives. I think someone said with facebook coupon it was like $90 with a $99 deductible. Much better than ATT (asurion) insurance which as $199 deductible.

Ah thanks. I will look into the warranty concept. I probably won't have a backup phone cuz I'd likely sell the SG3 to help fund the new One.

Sorry 'bout that. I must've been reading a thread in the "General" section when I was inspired to post a question. Thanks for the free ride over here where I belong. I won't ever make that mistake again, I promise.

Future of Development on S4

Since the bootloader is still unlockable, what are your thoughts on the continual development of ROMS, etc on the S4 ? Do you feel that future of S4 development is doomed? I recently just purchased my s4 and was one of the lucky few who were able to unlock theirrs prior to the mess. However, now I feel that I might have regretted buying one.
Thoughts?

I think you meant that you rooted it and got custom recovery installed on the pre-updated MDK. No one has unlocked the bootloader on any S4 came with it locked.
There never was an unlocked bootloader save for the developer edition only available direct from Samsung.
Development for the i545 is far from dying if you look through the forum. The fact that the bounty for root and recovery on ME7 is several thousand dollars should be telling.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I agree. This is one of the most popular devices out at the moment. I dont see development dying out anytime soon.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Its fine at the moment and in the near future but could see it lose some people once Note 3 and other devices come out esp if bootloader exploit isn't found on new update
There will always be TW & cm ROMs. I think the question should've been "How long until no one has a mdk device?" Unless a new exploit is found of course...

Have you looked in the development sections to see that there are plenty of developers committed to the furthering of development?

I agree this may be the only problem... As people lose devices and get warranty replacements with the new firmware the development will slowly die off with no unlock available

I assume the devs that have a verizon s4 themselves will continue to develop for the phone. Also it is possible to use some roms cross carrier if you use a verizon kernel and change the apn.

This. But there's evidence all around (check forums) that devs tend to stop developing for devices with to small of a user base.

Even if people start breaking/losing their MDK phones, there's still GPE and Dev versions. Should still see development for those, which will be of help to us MDK folks as well.
If you end up having to exchange it, and you get an ME7, could always sell it and put that cash towards a Dev edition as well.

GE phones are fine and dandy but none exist for VZW, just like VZW has no nexus phones, because they want complete control over the devices and the software.
I currently have an S3 and when my contracts runs out I will either move to another carrier and buy GE phones or buy Dev phones off contract for verizon, but I'm more inclined to go elsewhere and go with GE phones.
When it's announced(hopefully) I'll be ordering my developer edition note 3. As far as the gs4 goes, I only know of 1 developer who stopped developing for the gs4. No one else who has started has quit.

I've had similar concerns. I took it as a reason to learn some of this stuff on my own. I've been building cm 10.2 from source to start. That said, I'm less concerned about development now but I will continue to learn how to do as much as I can on my own. I just hope I never physically damage the phone beyond usability. This is the first time I've had a case on a phone. I hate cases but it's worth reducing the chance of a cracked screen.
