phone shutdown, wont power back on - AT&T HTC One (M7)

OK so I was streaming radio via TuneIn Pro, like I do every weekday, and in the middle of listening the device shut itself off and now wont turn back on. had it charging over night. I tried the voldwn+pwr for 30 seconds, tried just holding the power button down for 10 second, then tried holding down for 30sec
when plugged into the wall I get no activity light, no button lights, or screen lights
phones unlocked with most recent build of CM10.1
I cant find specific instructions on hard resets for the one so I was following the ones I found for the s/x, anything else to try?

nothing happens, Ive left it plugged into the wall charger all day now, and when pressing or holding (10sec, 30sec, 60min) power button down no sensor button lights flash and no charge/notification lights flash.

Other than trying to hold pwr+vol down+vol up at the same time, or a random combo of those, I'm outta suggestions...
Did you try plugging it into your PC? Does the PC recognize it?

yeah I started the warranty replacment procedure. might actually have a replacement tomorrow

thanks for the help

I had this same issue. I would love to know how and what you did to get yours this way.
I went and tried a few ROMs. The last being the PAC (International) ROM v1.6 with the newest gapps.
It was working for for a day and then the battery died and it won't boot or show anything at all on the screen when holding down any buttons.
They want to replace it via warranty with a like-new device, but I am not sure about that since I bought it 5 days ago. Heading to the AT&T store tomorrow morning to figure this crap out.

I checked out your past posts and looks like you came from CM10.1 which is the same thing as the PAC ROM basically....
Something could be going on there.

Try holding your phone under a very bright light to sort of overload the light/proximity sensor while trying to power on. I know it sounds crazy but that is a fairly well known solution to this type of problem if you search around.

In reference to your suggestion FanDroid, I am not getting any results so far, and I am in the same boat as the OP and as you can tell from my signature I already have a new phone and don't have the money to replace my One. I want to fix my One since my brother uses it the most now since I have my Note 3.

I have tried all of the suggestions made from this thread, along side other suggests from other places. I still get no LED response, and the buttons do nothing, no matter what combination at any time period. I have even tried ringing it through Android Device Manager to see what that will do and no dice. I don't have the kind of money to just replace it.. but is there any other suggestions that might be able to revive my device?

Bricked Beyond Repair??? PLEASE HELP!!

Hey guys, I think I've bricked my Touchpad beyond repair. I purchased it off Craigslist because I couldn't get one in the store, so there is no receipt and no hope of a warranty claim. Here's what I did:
I put it in developer mode and installed PreWare. I installed Chroid and played with that. When CM7 became available I installed that. Everything was running fine....so good that I decided to uninstall Chroid since I had a (nearly) fully functional Android build on my device. After the unistall, the device booted to a black screen with and triangle that had an exclamation point in the middle. I downloaded WebOS Doctor hoping to restore it but the device was not in USB mode. I powered it off holding home and power but it immediatly rebooted to the same screen. I tried it again and immediately held power and volume down when it powered off and again, it took me to the same screen. After about the 3rd/4th attempt, it powered off but powered on no more. I cannot power it on by hold power, power + volume down, power + home....anything.
I have a small bit of hope. When I plug it into my computer, the computer makes a noise which tells me that it sees the device however it doesn't install any drivers or show that it's installed as USB. WebOS Doctor does not see my device.
I've Googled and not found anyone restoring a device like this at this state but maybe, just maybe, it can be. Please help if you can! Thanks!
FYI - The battery was about 75-80% charged at the time of the bricking.

I just got it back into the triangle/exclamation screen again. I'm afraid to power it back off. Any way to force boot into USB mode?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Tried WebOS Doctor again and it saw my device. I may be ok. At 12% now.

...I'm good. Wife says I don't have to sleep on the couch now!
Man, I paniced. I've modded a lot of devices but never had one completely die beyond powering it on (unless it has a removable battery).
Lol. Maybe you should have just trouble shot before you posted.
I be Tap'n that
It's Power + Volume Up for USB mode... not sure if that's a typo or you had the wrong key
Either way, good job getting it working lol.

There seems to be a built in emergency shut off. Hold the power button, volume up and press the center button ten times. The tablet will go into a powered off state. That from hp website. Holding the three together for 10 seconds seems to do the same. I have used both to recover from orange exclamation, cm7 issues, lost mmboot, clockwork.....

Thanks for the info guys. I was pressing vol up and power (typo). It's nice to know alternate recovery methods as I do not plan to stop modding this device. I immediately reinstalled CM7 after recovering...lol.

even if you don't have a receipt, all touchpads are still under warranty, they have not been out long enough to be out. of course if your touchpad is obviously bricked due to something you did, they might figure it out. (of course, that's easily cured by connecting the headphone Jack to the chases of an old cry monitor, and the USB port to the flyback. I can all but guarentee, they wont be able to.figure out what OS was on it. yea,its shady, but considering their excuse of the day from laptops is "water damage" ,even when you have a obviously defective screen,I think they have it coming,of course I fully expect them towards try to weasle out of any legitimate warranty claims on the touchpad anyway.)

Thanks for this! This helped me out a lot! Mine had a bit of trouble turning back on, so I held power, volume up, and center for 10-15 seconds and it turned back on. YMMV I guess.

[Q] Phone died wont charge

Yesterday my dna died while at a dealership then I went to plug it into my car charger and the led came on to indicate charging. The phone automatically booted into the bootloader at which point I selected reboot phone and after that it went black as if there wasn't enough juice to boot and shut off. Since then the phone won't charge. When plugged into the wall, no orange led comes on to show its charging and after being left plugged in over night I'm still having the same issue.
I've got a lot of important things on there and I really hope there's something I can do.
Thanks :crying:

Make sure your cable isn't borked. For some reason, the cable wires break at the connector on the small end. Try a different cable. The orange charging light should come on after about 5-15 minutes of charging depending how dead it is.

At this point the phone is refusing to do anything or at least appears to be doing nothing. Pressing the power does nothing and when plugged into any power source no orange led. I don't know how I would boot into the boot loader while the phone is in this state.

Thanks. I've tried several cables and from different charging sources, wall, computer USB and my car and none make the orange led come on. I've tried holding the power for 20-30 seconds to see if I could reboot it but that didn't work either. The phone has never been dropped on anything but carpet once or twice and never near any water.

I have this exact same problem; however, my phone came back in a few days? It seems to get stuck like that every so often but then comes back and has around 30-40% battery left. I am about to lock it and put it back to stock and get a replacement.
Were you running any ROMs? I'm running a clean stock ROM.
Maybe try to open it up and disconnect the battery. This is a common pro let on the Nexus 7 and usually people get it fixed by disconnecting the battery and putting it back on. If you feel comfortable opening the phone you could try that.

Cool. Keep me updated. I'm very curious now.
When you hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds, do the led's on the bottom of the screen blink? I let mine drain all the way out. Plugged it in. the orange light was blinking slow. I held down the power button until after the led's blinked 13 times. I don't know why they blinked 13 times but they did. held down the power button again and it booted up.
When you connect it to your computer, is it found as a device through ADB commands? Is it listed as a drive attached to the computer?

Glad to hear your back up. Good job. It could also possibly be that the battery somehow got disconnected. I wouldn't return it unless it happens again. Just try not to let it die and I don't think it will happen again. Or if you drop it, it may also disconnect. But I wouldn't get a replacement unless the issue comes up again.

[Q] DNA not turning on. What?!

I was using my phone earlier, and everything was normal. I put it in my pocket when using my computer, but when I pulled it out to use it, the device was off. I pressed the power button. Nothing. Held the power button down. Nothing. Held the power button + volume down. Nothing, again.
The phone was fully charged three hours ago when I unplugged it, and when I plug it in now there are no lights turning on.
I'm incredible confused and a bit scared. Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

Make sure you are holding the power button for at least 30 seconds. IF that doesn't work, try power and volume down for 30 seconds. If that doesn't work, leave on the charger for an hour, then try again, both plugged in, and unplugged

Most of them just reset the battery by disconnecting it and reconnecting it. I'm sure there is a way to reset it with a combination of buttons. Maybe go call htc the support is actually really good I haven't had any bad interactions with them in the 2 instances I called. This should also be covered on the year warranty and they should replace it for free since it has not been a year yet. I would call.

It was a hardware failure, they'll probably send it back to HTC for refurbishment or recycling. It's unlikely that they will find out that you rooted it.

well you did open it up, and they might find that out; pretty sure that will void the warranty. unless you are able to mend it back up. i screwed up my first dna and got a replacement since it wouldnt turn back on and they never found out

I am having this exact issue with my Droid DNA. The circumstances are exactly the same. Two weeks ago, I stuck my phone into my pocket, took it out five minutes later and the device was off. Since then, Everything I've tried to get it to turn on has not worked. I even got a replacement battery however nothing.
When on the charger, all it does is blink the red light no matter how long I leave it on. I'm desperate as this phone is a second hand purchase and not on warranty. Also, I live in the Caribbean so I don't have many options for getting it fixed/replaced. I've tried every button combination, searched many forums and tried many suggestions.
Is there anybody who may have ANY other ideas to get this phone to work?
The phone is not rooted.
Verizon doesn't care if its soff and htc don'ts care. Verizon just isn't allowed to give you service if they know if soff.

[Q] HTC ONE X+ wont boot

Hi guys,
My HTC ONE X+ was running out of battery yesterday and once it died - it cannot charge anymore; in fact it doesn't show any sign of life at all even the LED that usually flashes when charging doesn't turn on.
I just spoke with Vodafone and they told me it needs service. However, their policy is that when serviced all the data on the phone will be wiped out. Being the idiot I am - I have no back up. The data on this phone is priceless for me, its all the contacts, photos and conversations for my last year and a half. Can you help? Even a referral to some dodgy repair shop that would attempt to help me would be great. Btw I#m in London.
Thanks guys!

What all have you done to the phone ? This happened to me yesterday and I freaked out. Turns out it was setcpu. I have the att version and it doesn't seem to like being underclock to 1 Mhz and set on powersave governor. The phone would not charge and no led lights came on + my battery did die. What I did to get it back was plug it in and hold the power buttons for a while. The softkeys will start to blink then the charging led came on. I started to panic because I just bought this phone from eBay and I just didn't know what I would do if the phone was faulty. I hope everything turns out ok.

I have not really done anything to it. I'm not a developer or anything. I've dropped it a couple of times, but not in the last couple of months and this came out of nowhere.
My case seems to be similar to yours though, because when that happened the power saver was indeed on. Which keys did you press and how long for? Ive tried a lot of combinations from forums, but nothing seems to help. Damn it, I need this data badly! Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if a Jtag boot repair is worth a shot?
I had the same problem with my one x AND one x+
I solved it by charging an hour and start into hboot as soon as the led stopped blinking
Try to press your volume down AND power button same time until the lower bar starts blinkin and the light hboot screen is started. Go into fastboot mode ... Step down to power down. Press power button... done.

[Q] Battery not responding while plug in? Cannot turn on my phone now!!

Hi everyone. I bought my Xperia Z2 (Taiwan Ver.) in Hong Kong.
It was still OK yesterday and sometimes I charged it,
it didn't detect and it's not charging. This may be the problem of my power line because I changed the other one and it worked.
And I charged it with the problem one and it showed "Charging".
This morning I just couldn't turn on my phone. I tried many plugs, USB lines and it showed nothing. Then I used the dock to charge but it didn't work.
Please help! I don't think they will fix it for free......
These are the symptoms:
1. No response even trying Volume UP + Power button and many other combination for pressing at least 30 seconds each time
2. No response when connecting to PC
3. Plugged into the original charger and couldn't feel any heat from charger nor Z2
4. Tried the red button next to SIM card slot still not working
5. Charged it for a very very long time still no response
PLEASE HELP!
========FIXED========
1.Using mobile charger (5v ~ 2.5A) and remove SIM card and SD card if you have one
2.Plug mobile charger into Z2
3.Press Start button of the charger
4.Nearly the same time press the Power button of Z2 (with Volume Up I guess because I pressed it too)
5.Then Z2 may turn on the red LED light
Tips: I tried so many times, I guess the time of pressing charger and Z2 power button is important because I tried many times /.\ Hope you guys won;t get this problem. And I got this problem is because of drained battery, DON'T EVER LET THE BATTERY'S POWER BE LOWER THEN 10% IS THE SAFEST!
Leave it on charging for a while, its a normal issue when the battery completely depletes. Don't worry.
I'd suggest leaving it on charge all day, do check after 4-6 hours tho.

But when I use my mobile charger (6600mah) to charge, it didn't show that it is charging as the light of charger will be blinking if it is charging.

Just wait. And use an electric socket for it, or the dock.

Also here should be a small button just below the micro usb port. Try holding that in for ten seconds using a toothpick and then try booting up.

Please help!
I charged it for whole day and it still not worked...
It doesn't even turn on its led light.
I honestly don't know then. I don't actually have the phone yet. I'm kinda out of ideas. Maybe try plugging it into a pc and seeing if anything gets recognised? If not just take it back, it's obviously not right

OK then, thanks and I tried connecting it to PC and no response :crying: :crying:
I don't understand why posting such a problem here on the forum.. would it be easier if you just use the warranty and go to any sony centre near by???!!
of course if you didn't void the warranty
no offence meant. but I see many people complaining even for a small things or complaining about things that can be easily fixed by warranty from Sony..
plus this phone is still not yet available everywhere. so many people don't know about it.. better just go to Sony center..
Good luck

Well I am going to the shop I bought this phone (Not official SONY shop or carrier as Z2 is not available in Hong Kong officially) and let them fix it. I don't know if they are going to send it hack to Taiwan to fit it or fix it themselves (Hope not)
And I post my question here because I think it is better to fix it myself because it takes time to take my phone to the shop and to wait it to get fixed. I am sorry for posting this stupid question and I still hope for another reply to solve my problem.
