So I am successfully HTCDev unlocked, have TWRP flashed, and had a custom kernel flashed. Then I decided to flash SOUNDMOD and Advanced Power Mod (I did them consecutively in TWRP). When I rebooted I was stuck on HTC One screen (10+ min), so I did a factory reset in TWRP, still have HTC ONE screen (10+ min). I'm just starting out so i didn't have a nandroid or other rom already on SD.
I'm using Hasoon's AIO kit to sideload a rom, using Notcurnal_1.27 deOdex. So maybe I'm missing something but when I finish the sideload, the phone says the rom is installed, but when I go to reboot phone, it says no ROM installed, are you sure you want to reboot?
Anyone mind helping? am i sideloading it wrong? is there a second step after?
So I ended up not sideloading, and just using adb push x.zip /sdcard/x.zip and was able to install from there.
Not sure if anyone can confirm that adb sideload doesn't work. (though why would you want to
I successfully sideloaded a ROM with TWRP last night -- I installed an ARHD ROM. I used a different PC toolkit for ADB, though - I'll have to check which one it was again.

did you happen to find out which toolkit you used? I need to sideload a ROM today, so any help is appreciated.

ok so i got my replacement thunderbolt and tried to use the 3 step root tool on here and i think something went wrong. i made it to step 3, it says s off and seemed ok. i rebooted, tried to fix permissions to test and it failed. now all i get is the HTC white boot screen and thats it. i can go into bootloader (the screen with hboot, recovery, etc) and i can load up recovery but when i try to do a restore (backup from the old phone) i get an error and it fails. is it screwed? what can i do to correct this? thanks guys!

If you can get into recovery, wipe EVERYTHING (data/cache/dalvik). Then mount USB and put a rom on your SD. Flash that. If you tried to fix permissions BEFORE you installed a ROM, then you kinda skipped a step mate.
DO NOT RERUN THE ROOT METHOD. IF you have S-OFF, jut flash a ROM

thank you for the quick reply! so there is some hope for this thing then, woohoo!
yes i have wiped everything you mentioned. how does one mount usb from that menu? from within recovery? i saw a usb option on that (is it called bootloader?) is that what your speaking of?
now as a rom i DO have the gingerjane rom from jcase on there somewhere, is that safe to flash on there to fix this? thanks again!
If you have access to recovery (as you said you do) just load it, wipe, and flash any Thunderbolt rom you put on your sdcard (or already have in your case). Whether the rom you flash will fully works or not depends on whether it is compatible with your current radio.
But as long as you have access to recovery, you are set.
it booted! thank you both.
now im positive the root failed but it says s-off and superuser does show in the app drawer. im gonna try to d/l rom manager since its not on here anymore and see if it works.
if root failed am i safe to do the three step process again?
just don't flash roms with Rom Manager. It's known to cause problems with the Thunderbolt..

Not sure what "3 step process" you are referring to but I'm gonna say no.
You have recovery. You can clearly flash roms. The roms contain Superuser.apk and su binaries which means THEY are rooted. Flash a good copy of a rooted rom from recovery and you will have working SU.
If that means you have to download another copy of a rom and put it on your sdcard then do it. Point is, roms are "rooted" not the phone. You can't "root" something that doesn't have an OS. Common misconception but I'm leaving it at that.
Everything is working great now, thank you all for your guidance and support. Love my android community. Can't thank you enough.
alright, how bad did I screw up here? Got the OTA notification last night, read nothing but good things and most keeping root through the process. I missed an important detail of using the OTA rootkeeper. So I'm currently on the latest update and lost root. I've tried one click 1.1 to no avail so far. I am unlocked and was rooted prior, but never got around to installing a recovery (hadn't found a ROM I was quite happy with enough to lose all my data just yet)
So.. all that said, is there a root option for the latest OTA yet?

Yes, all you need to do is flash Amon Ra through fastboot and reboot to recovery .. under the developer menu option on Amon Ra you have the option to install SU and superuser . Just run that and reboot you would have to unlock of course to install Amon Ra
Looks like I'm installing AmonRa today. Thanks!!!! I'm from a moto world where CWM and SPR are all we had.. the feature to install SU binary from recovery is new to me haha

Odd, do you have the superuser app in your app drawer ? Otherwise , I heard to download it from the market and it will work .
I did it this way and I read about it from others that did it this was as well.
I need some help, please - I may have made a very bad assumption here...
I just got my Rezound today (upgrading from a Thunderbolt). I saw the stickied thread about how (relatively) easy it was to perm-root the phone after the bootloader was unlocked, and I assumed that this all still applied after getting the OTA update (not realizing that the OTA update was JUST released - my assumption was that it was older and already dealt with).
So I got the OTA first thing after activating the phone, THEN unlocked the bootloader, THEN tried to root via One Click - I tried both OneClickRoot_1.1 and Super OneClick 2.3.3.0, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I'm getting "Permission denied" errors on mounts and "read-only file system" errors for CHMods and file copies during the Zerg Rush process. It says "Congrats you are now perm rooted", but it doesn't seem to be true - I was able to install SuperUser from the market, but the BusyBox installer says it can't find the su binaries, so I'm not convinced SuperUser is actually working.
Considering that I never had root access to the phone prior to installing the OTA, is there anything I do besides waiting for one or more of the root tools to be updated to deal with the new OTA?

I would try the rooted stock rom, but just not sure why it didn't work for you . I did all the steps you did and I was rerooted afterwards. Are you getting the pop up for superuser when an app asks for permission ? Sorry, was trying to be helpful
got it.. had to attempt the SU install twice.. also reboot DIRECTLY from recovery, do NOT reboot back to bootloader. I think that's what killed it for me. And yes in the end I did have to install the superuser app from the market to get it working again.

I'm having a serious issue here - for unknown reasons (I have NOT installed any ROMS or ANY non-OTA updates whatsoever), my Rezound is no longer able to connect to Verizon's network, for data or voice (it just says "no service"; WiFi works fine). As I said in my previous post on the previous page, I just got the phone today, and was trying to use OneClick to root my phone, but it isn't working because of the OTA update, and at some point I think the radio got screwed up.
So my intended remedy was to download the rooted stock rom and install that, but, naturally, it doesn't pass signature verification on the stock recovery. So I tried to follow another set of instructions to get AmonRa recovery installed, but the bootloader keeps rejecting the PH98IMG.zip file, telling me (depending on which one I try to use) that there's "no image or wrong image" or "Main Version is older! Update Fail!". Furthermore, I tried to extract the PH98IMG.zip file from the rooted stock rom file that I downloaded from the link on this site, but that zip file is corrupted (it won't open on my PC, even after I re-downloaded the rom).
Can someone help me figure out how to get AmonRa installed? From there, I can hopefully get the rooted stock rom installed. OR, at the very least, help me run a radio update so the phone will at least work until an easier root method becomes available?
Thanks.

I got the rooted ota rom installed easily, and better yet, the root worked perfectly. The problem is, I still can't connect to any wireless networks (aside from wifi).
I used the tool linked in the previous response to flash a boot.img I got out of this thread (specifically, the stock 2.01.605.11 w/ 1/26 OTA), but still nothing.
Any thoughts?

back. After reboot, I installed superuser from market, then updated the binary.
Titanium Backup now works and I can confirm regaining root after the OTA update. To protect myself from this in the future, I have installed OTA RootKeeper. OTA RootKeeper has been confirmed to backup superuser and is a simple way of restoring superuser after an OTA.
I did not have to backup anything on the internal sdcard, as I did not lose any data through this process, but it never hurts to do it, just in case. I am running the stock Rom, and unlocked through HTC-dev.
Thanks to con247 and andybones for pointing me in the right direction.
I am not responsible for any issues with your phone, so proceed at your own risk.
My father-in-law got a Prime about a year ago and used it for a month. Last night I came into my possession! So with what little time I had last night to play with it I unlocked the bootloader. I'm running 4.0.3 and the build is 9.4.2.21 (I know the last number is 20-something but I don't have it in front of me so I can't verify this but I think it's 21).
So I have the bootloader unlocked but I am a little cautious on how to proceed. I'm not new to rooting cause I did it on my OG Droid, Thunderbolt, and Verizon SGS3 but I've never used NV Flash so I just have a few things I was hoping the Prime community could help me with. I have read through the development forum but nothing really lays out steps. There is a video to unlock the bootloader and other videos showing how to root. Like I said, I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right.
How I think the steps go:
1) Unlock Bootloader (DONE)
2) Install Recovery (TWRP)
3) Run NV Flash (can this be done on ICS or JB?)
4) Root using an ICS one click method (this seems to be an easy one to use zedomax one click
5) Upgrade the bootloader from ICS to JB (not sure how to do this or where to get the JB bootloader)
6) Install JellyBean ROM of choice (Energy ROM seems to be pretty popular)
Any help/advice?

You have unlocked so now get nvflash done http://androidroot.mobi/t3_nvflash/ you can only do this while on ICS and if you make backups of the files created during the process you can never hard brick your device so get this done first.
Once that is done you can flash TWRP for ICS (make sure it is ICS version while on ICS bootloader, you will install a JB version later on)
You can now go about updating to jellybean bootloader and custom rom. You do not need to root first as the root will be built into the custom rom.
The easiest way I can suggest is to follow my instructions in the second post here for "Upgrade Instructions for ICS" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
If you wanted to install energy rom instead of Hairybean just replace the hairybean 1.51 rom in the instructions with energy rom and do the same.

Awesome! Thanks for the help!
Couple questions:
1) I read through that second post and the TWRP update says "HairyBean TWRP Update." I'm guessing what this does is install a JB version of TWRP. Question is, does it matter that is is labeled with "HairyBean" if I am going to install something other than that ROM?
2) ROM suggestions? I just read some posts of people saying they really like Energy ROM. How's HairyBean? Comparison between the two?

1. Hairybean Twrp is just a version I made that looks like you are in Jellybean and to me has a more logical layout. There is also an installer script that you run from windows to make it easier for people to install. If you want the default look then go to the twrp website and get the ics version and run the commands manually. It makes no difference what twrp you are running it is just cosmetic.
2. They are both based on stock rom, Hairybean looks more like the standard Jellybean where as Energy rom is themed. It is all down to personal preference. Try both and see which one you prefer.
edit.. Don't forget you are going to need an ICS version of twrp first. The hairybean twrp is for after you have flashed the JB bootloader.
edit 2.. There is a version of ICS twrp in this link you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34477681&postcount=5705

You can do it thru the tablet but it is a last resort really.
Download - ADB / Terminal method (not recommended):
Download the corresponding .blob file above. Save it to the root of your /sdcard directly (internal memory only) and rename it to twrp.blob
Launch terminal emulator or connect to your computer and open an adb shell, then type the following:
su
dd if=/sdcard/twrp.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Then reboot normally (NOT to recovery) to complete installation.

I linked you to it on the last page.
Download the zip in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34477681&postcount=5705
Extract it to your pc.
Power off the prime and then hold down power button and volume down for about 10 seconds until you see icons on your screen. Press volume down to go to the usb icon and then press volume up to enter fastboot mode (it will say entering fastboot mode and freeze on your screen, this is normal)
Make sure you have the drivers installed on pc for fastboot. You probably did it when you did nvflash but if not get them here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502
Now run the bat file from the zip you extracted earlier and follow the onscreen instructions.

Long story short...
Bootloader unlocked, rooted HTC One, Installed GE rom.
Now, selling phone. Did a wipe and reset. All my .zip rom files gone...and NO OS!
I am able to get to fastboot AND twrp no problem, but my computer won't recognize device so I can bring in my .zip roms to re-flash.
Again, phone says I have no OS. How do I get my phone to show up on computer to re-flash my OS?? I want to re-install the GE rom so I can ship the phone off to the buyer.
Anyone?? I'm simply stuck within the boodloader or twrp recovery. I can't go anywhere else. I have NO img rom on the device. I can't get S-OFF. How the heck to I get a rom back on the phone??? Stock, custom...I don't care at this point. Comp won't bring it up as storage device.

you still stuck ?
I did some searches and came up short. I have my bootloader unlock code. Can somebody link me to a root guide for the latest stock rom please? I don't want to install a custom rom. Just install root.

So just to clarify, all I have to do is fastboot to twrp? I don't need to install it? It's confusing. "Boot to recovery and had TWRP"?? Never rooted a phone before. If somebody could go into greater detail, that would be great.
To get root and TWRP.
Credit to Foltz61.
1. Boot to bootloader.
2. Fastboot boot TWRP-L.img
3. Install supersu-2.49.zip (even though I didn't lose root)
4. Reboot back to system.
5. Reboot back to bootloader.
6. fastboot flash recovery TWRP-L.img.
7. fastboot reboot.
8. Boot to recovery and had TWRP

I tried to CyanogenMod my phone. I could not even install twrp. I found those instructions from a link here (supposedly everything one may need to know about the Mate 2):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3149530
I tried the link on my phone and it goes to the last post. Please start with the first post....

You were eventually able to install twrp though right? Seems pretty straight forward and easy. Unlock bootloader, setup adb on comp, enable adb on phone, boot into twrp, flash custom recovery.

Nope. I missed that the unlock part was necessary! Thank you for giving the details though!!!!
When I figured that Device Only mode gives decent GPS use for maps, directions, and Pokémon Go I just decided to leave it be. Plus all this concern with root and Pokémon Go not working. I don't play much but I keep my phone as backup when my son's battery dies.
Thanks again!
