cant get past first boot screen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

samsung galaxy note, sgh i717. downloaded jelly bean from online, then rooted phone.
now im trying to get the blackstar XI custom rom on my new phone using CWM.
i backed up everything, wiped everything, and when i go to download the rom, i get stuck at the first boot screen.
it just keeps saying "BLACKSTAR" "BLACKSTAR" "BLACKSTAR" over and over again.
i waited about 25 minutes the first time. battery pull. wiped stuff again. took 15 minutes. then pulled battery. now its been about 10 minutes but i know it probably will get stuck at this screen.
also i have no clue what my battery percentage is, and i dont know if plugging into the computer would be a good idea.

If you can still boot the phone into download mode, you should be able to odin it back to stock.
Or, if you can boot the phone into recovery, completely wipe and factory reset and try flashing the rom again.

thats what iv been doing, is after i battery pull, ill turn it on into recovery mode, wipe everything AGAIN, then follow the steps & trying to flash the rom. it keeps on getting me stuck at the BLACKSTAR boot up screen. im sure i can just go back to recovery and go back to my stock rom that i backed up, but i want to know how i can get blackstar to work, because iv never done a custom rom before.

[Q] stuck on boot logo

ok im stuck on my boot logo for my motorola droid 2. its a liberty logo, no the original M logo, ive held in x when it starts up and then it takes me to the triangle and then i hold the search button down and then it takes me to a menu saying this:
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
ive already tried just rebooting it and then it does the same thing again and just gets stuck at the boot logo, so please help. thanks!
Have you tried pulling the battery out for about 15 seconds?
See if that clears it up.
with it unplugged and turned off?
Yes Sir. Unlug it and turn it off.
yes i just did that and it didnt work, its still at the boot logo, the only thing i can do is go to that recovery menu that i said about in my 1st post, but idk what to do when i get there?
Try wipe data/factory reset.
Obviously you're gonna have to tweak your settings again.
okay, is there anyway i can get my settings back like a recovery? or something
Well, you might want to head in to the Droid 2 forums to get better responses related to your phone.
Here is a link to start with.
As far as recovery goes, I don't think you have a custom recovery installed. Sounds like you have a stock phone. So, there's no way of backing your stuff up.
i have it rooted and a rom on it but nothing custom, but thanks for all your help

If you have it rooted, did you ever perform a Nandroid backup ?
Do you have a non standard recovery installed?
EDIT: Sorry re-read last few post and come to conclusion that you probably don't.
sorry but doesnt rds lite 4.8 and the correct sbf file let u flash back to stock?
If your phone is rooted then you have changed your kernal. It might be a fault with the kernal.I had a similar thing happen in an SGS.It was rooted and when i flashed the kernal againh via CWM it also got stuck on the same as you.The only way to solve it was boot to download mode and flash via odin again.

Phone won't boot past Samsung Screen

So I just restarted my phone after doing nothing particular and it just will not boot. It gets to the Samsung screen with the Unlocked Lock that says 'Custom' and it just freezes there. I pulled the battery and boot again, nothing. I booted into recovery and wiped it all and re-flashed the bebloated ROM, still won't boot. Anyone have any other suggestions???

sounds stupid, but try whiping it like 2-3 times in a row and then reboot
Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259 and let us know. I have the very same issue with my phone but ended up giving up and getting verizon to replace it but would really like to know if this works.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long for me to get back. After 3 wipes I was able to get everything back to stable and it has not locked up like that again. Thanks for all your suggestions, I may need them again someday haha.

basically have the same problem but i have a stock rooted backup in twrp... (which i have to restore once a day).... every time the phone dies or or battery comes out, there no way of starting without wipe and restore, and even then it doesn't let me boot into twrp until a few tries also once in a while my twrp asks for a password, which ive never put on.. so anyways if theere are any new suggestions id be happy to try them out

S3 wont boot after installing rom. Weird Problem

Hi Guys,
I've rooted my S3, and installed PhilZ Touch 5. Then I clear Data/Factory & Cache along with Delvik. I then proceed to install the custom rom from a zip.
It all installs fine, and says it has done so. But when it reboots, it gets stuck on the GalaxyS3 logo, with a little red Exclimatin mark in the top left corner and stays on that screen until I remove battery or reboot into download or recovery mode...
It seems I just can't load the newley installed roms. I've tried multipul, Archidroid, LiquidSmoot, pureLook HD, etc..
Has anyone run into this problem?
Its an Australian S3, so its the International i9300 btw.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Also, is there a way to completely wipe the phone and start from scratch, as I keep seeing ArchiDroid folders in the SD.
To start completely new you can use mega wipe. It will delete anything but the ext sdcard, hence be careful.
Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013)
Thanks, I'm thinking a MegaWipe would be the best bet, and then start fresh with a custom rom. I need to read more first so I don't screw up the phone..
just to update. the problem was solved with a mega wipe, i installed a new rom, and everything booted normally .
thanksssss
same problem i think except the red exclamation on the corner
Mr. John. i have the same problem now. You removed the battery after being stucked at the logo of samsung right? i wonder, were you able to go back to the home screen after removing the battery? thanks

No, if the phone won't boot after installing a new rom then no amount of battery pulling is going to make it boot.
Flash the super wipe .zip from recovery, assuming you've followed the instructions from your rom chef correctly.
survived the stucked screen

I already escaped the stuck screen. thankfully i have a nandroid back up (and i can still access the recovery mode). i was able to recover my old phone status.
thank you!
I was able to boot into recover & download mode, I was able to flash via odin any custom recovery and boot into it, I was able to wipe the cache/settings & delvik via recovery and then install any rom I liked, I could however not boot into any new/custom rom.
I then ran the MEGAWIPE.Zip in Philz, which I believe wiped some framework or something that was left behind stopping new roms to boot. I then installed a New rom, and it booted right away. No trouble what so ever...

Please help with this flusterc*ck of issues

Hi all,
New to this whole rooting and flashing thing. I'm not as good with computers that one can hold in their hand.
Anyways, I'll try to explain this stew of issues that I have
I'm running CW Recovery (6.0.2.3) in conjunction with SlimBean (dtt 4.2.2). One day, in a far away land, my phone prompted me to update Slim. That was all and dandy because I've flashed roms from zip files before. When I tried to do that, the process was aborted and I was given a slew of error numbers that made my brain hurt.
So, I tried to start fresh and clean, like the cilantro that chipotle puts in our burrito bowls. I tried a factory reset using the CW Recovery mode so I can re-root now that jellybean is 4.3. After I wiped the cache and data/factory reset, I rebooted the phone. My phone still boots into Slim and uses clockwork for recovery mode.
Essentially, how do I de-root my phone or factory reset it to the settings that I had from day 1?
UPDATE: I just tried flashing CW Recovery from 6.0.2.3 --> 6.0.4.7. After flashing it, I rebooted my phone into recovery. Now I'm getting a never-ending boot cycle. The samsung logo pops up along with the little blue text "recovery" at the top, then shuts off and repeats that every 3 seconds or so. Methinks I broke it
Thanks
Flash stock ROM via Odin. Download Sammobile
Edit: better url
Why download a flight simulator?

Almost dead S3

Ok so, after many attempts I decided to ask for help here.
Months ago my old s3 "died". My brother was using it and it rebooted itself. From then it's still locked on SAMSUNG boot animation.
I've tryed many solutions. At first I thought it was the power button because in the past it gave me random reboots so... I removed it
No luck.
I'be bought a JIG, booted in download mode (or fastboot? nevermind) and completely installed the original ROM and firmware via Odin.
Another time, no luck.
The phone it's still locked on boot logo. On battery it cannot go beyond the first black and white screen, on charger it stucks on the SAMSUNG colored and animated one.
I have tried to change the battery but still no luck.
Am I missing something?
Thanks
Did you perform a factory reset from recovery mode after flashing a stock ROM and before booting the phone for the first time?

No I didn't. I'm going to try this and will report here, thanks.
Btw, flashing stock firmware doesn't wipe all possible datas?
No, don't reset if you don't want to lose all data.

Flash the stock firmware, factory reset, flash the stock firmware AGAIN. Remnants will remain if you don't flash twice with a reset in between.
