You are wrong. If he doesn't tick repartition and doesn't use pit file. His mobile will not be correctly partitioned according to partition table.

Help me too
Help me out.. My friend's ace with this same model too is suffering from the same problem. I was the one who tried to wake it up after the hard brick. I repartitioned and flashed the stock firmware through odin, flash was successful. But the error mounting data appears and the device stucks on bootloop. Also i saw something like unable to move data_recovery_log.
I usually come across mount data errors after flashing stock firmwares in my Galaxy Y duos (s6102) but for us it is known that it would be resolved with a stock data wipe. But that too failed in this case. I am not familiar to the repartitioning things..

[Q] Is my phone bricked ? (can't mount /data, /sdcard)

Odin got freeze while it was writing a new pda to my phone, i tried rebooting phone and rewriting the pda again or a different pda, it writes successfully however when phone reboots, it shows i9300 logo screen, then either turns off, or freezes at the 2nd Samsung blue logo animation.
I can write and boot to CWM recovery, however i cant wipe or mount /sdcard or /data from there ...
I resorted to re partitioning using a mx.pit file, still same results...
I dont understand if my phone is bricked or not , however i can still write cwm recovery, install a custom rom from it from external sd, but it seems to fail because of the problem of mounting /data and /sdcard ,, please advise !
is it i9003 or i9300 ?

[Q] GT-i9100 (SGS2) Stuck at reboot after formating

My SGS2 stucks at the reboot logo, SGS2 GT-i9100 >> Logo >> repeating.
I wanted to format my phone cause it was almost full, so i format it, but it doesnt work and i got the same space free.
So i tried to do it manually in Recovery Mode, i formated some stuff, but i formated something like: Format Pre-Load (or something like this) and some more stuff, if im right that was only data/cache etc, and system to.
But now my phone wont reboot....
Help!!!
Phone connects to Odin only, i tried to flash the file i use to rooted my phone again, but i get: FAILED.
Srry for bad English....
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem after attempting a root on my Galasxy i9001T.
I used Odin following the instructions on this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414, I've gotten as far as using Odin 1.83, using the GT-I9100T_DUKF2_original.tar as my insure kernel. Odin gave me the green light "OK" and I waited for my phone to boot upt.
My phone gets far as the initial "Samsung SII GT-I9100T" and stays there, there was no yellow triangle, which expected from the instructions. The phone recharges and is able to go into recovery mode, but is Odin is having trouble communicating to the phone via USB, it won't establish a connection, so I have a strange feeling that I've bricked my phone and need help to fix the problem if possible.
My phone model and kernel are below, any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I1900T

You should not have formatted preload. Why didn't you just format the internal sd card?? Anyway now you will have to flash official firmware with odin. you can find so many guides on how to do that
...and to format your system wasn't the best idea also

Indeed.
/System partition is where the rom is stored.
So, what i need to do, flash a official rom with odin?
Tar file?
Can someone just send me the link of the thread that can help me?
I dont want to fail again And i want to fix my phone ASAP.

You cleaned everything boy even the Android OS
You just formated your whole phone you deleted your android os. you have to use ODIN to flash rom download some official firmware of some custom rom or if you have cwm download the rom transfer the zip to sd card or internal on your phone and flash it from cwm. And remember if you want to clean up your phone completly Just use factory reset in setting and if you want to delete all files in your internal sd check delete all files. Never format SYSTEM and PRELOAD
Now he's got a clean device alright.
I can just put a custom rom on it?
Using Siyah kernel, Philz, CWM or another? Does this matter?
Otherwise is put a rom on my sdcard and i put my sd in my phone and i flash it.
I putted a rom on my sd, installed it in Recovery Mode and its working again, thx for the support.

Hey how did you solved your problem??
As i too having same problem...
None of that has worked
I've followed all these suggestions and Ue still can't mount data AND Odin fails! Have tried various recommended files. Some seem ok others cause Odin to hang. Either way, the Ue is still sticking at the first Samsung logo not the animation. I can still get into download mode and recovery mode. The phone first went into a boot loop to the animation whilst playing a legit game from Play Store. Rooting from CWM bricked it. Thats when I noticed that it wasn't mounting data...just skipping.
Does any have an answer that deffo works or do I have a hardware fault? What does data refer to, the internal UE memory?
After flashing stock rom. Go into recovery mode and wipe data and catch it will work.

Galaxy S3 Stuck on Boot Screen after Flashing a ROM

Hi, I'm new to these forums and need some help!
I just rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300 yesterday using the Odin ver 1.85 tool and it was working perfectly all day. I was doing a little research as to how you can use custom ROMs and so I decided to give it a try.
I downloaded the ROM Manager application and flashed the ClockworkMod Recovery that comes with it before attempting to flash a ROM. I then proceeded to download the CyogenMod ver. 9.1.0 that comes with ROM Manager as well. I made sure to make a backup of my current ROM on both my internal and external SD cards and then went ahead and flashed the Cyogen ROM using the application. I also chose to wipe the data/factory reset before confirming.
After the process was done, the phone rebooted with the Cyogen logo and it was all working fine for the first 2 minutes. Then all of a sudden while going through the new ROM's screens, my phone rebooted showing the "Samsung GALAXY S III GT-I9300" message and with a little red "!" mark on the top left. It stays like that all the time. I tried turning the power off and taking out the battery but it always goes back to that screen immediately after.
I'm able to go into the ClockworkMod recovery by holding the volume up+power+home buttons but I see the following lines below:
ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.2
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I've tried wiping the cache, wipe data/factory reset, and wiping the dalvik cache options but it doesn't seem to work. I also tried flashing the ROM again from the SD card, but when I try to do it, it says "E: Can't mount /sdcard/". Same thing with my external SD card.
When I plug the phone to my computer, it doesn't seem to detect my device either. Is my phone bricked and will I have to get a new one if this is the case?
I tried to do some searching and this thread seems to be similar to what I'm facing but not quite as the methods suggested by the users are unknown to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500947
I appreciate any help I can get!

I tried to flash the i9300 firmware using Odin as suggested but it failed during the process (attached screen shot). I tried doing this 2 or 3 times but I always got the FAIL message. Is there anything else I can try doing before giving up on my phone? Maybe I flashed the wrong file?

Yeap you are right, I should have stated that!
The article states that you should user root66 and Linked boot chains for your device.
This sounds like it might help with OP problem.
He for sure has wrong kernel ... that is similar enough to work but screw is mounting point. Try change kernel with odin ... then flash with odin twrp or philz recovery and flash a proper rom

I have the same problem and still searching the forums for an answer.
does your problem solved? does this flashing and kerneling and odining worked? because I think the internal memory in baked!!

[Q] Would this method work?

I have a couple more questions.
1.) I have the brick bug, right?
2.) Flashing a safe kernel and then restoring the backup won't help either I presume?
3.) Would flashing the PIT file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26428986&postcount=1 solve my problem?
thx in advance

Hi everyone
first of all, this is my first post so if i posted in the wrong section i am sorry
now here's my problem:
i have a Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) with rooted stock ICS 4.0.4. I wanted to restore a backup which I created using the Nandroid Backup app on the same day. So i went into recovery mode, flashed a temporary CWM (from this thread http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472) then restored the backup from my SD card. if i remember correctly, if the restoration of the backup was succesful the phone should stay in CWM. In my case the screen went black for a few seconds then it looked like it would boot. However it just got stuck showing the Samsung logo with model number, so Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100.
I can still enter recovery and download mode. I did a factory reset, wiped cache partition and even re-flashed the stock ROM using odin but to no avail. After flashing the ROM, it didn't work so i did a factory reset again. It still got stuck on the logo so i went into recovery again. In recovery mode it says "E: failed to mount /sytsem (invalid arguement)". i could solve that problem by reflashing the ROM though.
does anybody know what caused this and even more imortantly, how to solve my issue?
On a side note, could be relevant, my phone just froze all of a sudden some times in the past months. i had to reboot my phone everytime it froze
Thx in advance
EDIT: ok, i've re-flashed the ROM again with odin. at first there is the green droid and the blue loading bar right below, but after a few seconds the screen goes black again and it tries to boot and gets stuck. I pulled battery, reinserted it and went into recovery, wiped cache. when i select "reboot" from the menu it says "E: failed to mount /sytsem (invalid arguement)"
Edit2: after flashing the ROM i get this "E: failed to mount /data (invalid arguement)" when rebooting over recovery. I've found a thread where it says i need to flash the dbdata.rfs.tar using odin. i will try that now
Edit3: when i try to flash the file i get a "NAND write start" "fail" error. I've been to a store that will take care of my problem.

Like c0olmad said, there is a brick bug in ICS. It would be alot better and safer to flash stock jellybean 4.1.2 link below.

Unsure of why your still on ics but below is a link to get a safe kernal where brick bug has been fixed. Make sure you get the kernal for your build.

TBH, I was aware that there was a brick bug but I thought i wouldn't be affected :silly:
And I was happy with ICS so I didn't upgrade. Also there is an app that currently only works on 4.0 or lower, so I didn't bother with upgrading.
the technicians of the store weren't able to repair it. i guess i have the brickbug :crying:
