[Q] Real Racing 3 issues on JB.. anyone else? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Anyone here having issues playing Real Racing 3 while running JB?? Back when I was on ICS, the game ran smoothly and fast, but now on JB for some reason graphics are messed up and audio aswell... The cars look transparent and most transitions lag alot, aswell as music and overall audio... For the graphics, I managed to download an app called Real Racing 3 Graphics and set graphics to medium and that fixed the graphics issues (so much for project butter... and even though i did not have to do this on ICS since it ran perfectly.....??) As for audio, it skips... A LOT!! To the point that you just don't even enjoy the game anymore... It skips as if the phone was running out of memory and you would expect the game to run terribly if you heard it without looking at the screen, but then again when you do look you notice it runs normally most of the time... Speaking of most of the time, as a side effect of setting the graphics to medium, sometimes the game lags a bit or it just flat out closes on you during loadings or before a race starts... My question is, is someone out there playing RR3 on their Razr/Maxx and having these issues? If you aren't, what Rom are you running? If you did have em but fixed em, how did you do it???? Please help me out, I love this game.... Thanks in advanced!
PS. I flashed Fido Canada 4.1.2 JB firmware through RSD and rooted it, and thats what I'm running now... I also tested on CM10.1 and, even though the graphics issue was not present and the game ran perfectly, the audio still skips terribly... Could this be a Razr JB incompatibility issue? Wierd how it ran better than on my One X while on ICS but runs so terribly on JB....

yes I did try to play this game too and the result was the same
if you look on google play, it said that the app is not compatible to our razr

well yeah but its not compatible with lots of android phones and on some of them it runs great! take the HTC One XL for example, or the best example yet, our very Razr.. The game ran perfectly on ICS, almost made me wonder why it wasn't officially available to download for Razr, but now on JB.... No go :/

I did not know about ICS. Weird that is not running on JB. Maybe a driver issue

Angry Birds Which Rom??

Simple question,
is there any rom out there powerful enough to run angry birds 1.4 smoothly and flawssly
sorry if im in the wrong thread.
thank you.
no.........
But if you looky at the rovio's updates you would see that its not the ROM's
Its the fact the game isnt actually made well for our none GPU'd phones.
They are working on a version specifically aimed at out phones, so will have to just be patient.
I have no idea what happened, but some months ago I could swear I ran the game nearly lag-free. Then suddenly I had tons of lag because I went with a Froyo ROM, now I cant seem to get that same performance downgrading to any ROM Seems AB has the same performance now regardless of ROMs.
I bet they upgraded the game with heavier graphics since my initial tryout.
They do claim a low-end version of the game is coming though. I think I will use Cronos Gingerbread till then, or any other Ginger ROM that makes some progress.

no they're not. it's been at 1.4.2 for eons now. And they know that many of us use the older version that had missing background graphics which runs less crappilly on our phones (but still pretty poorly at times and missing graphics can make it hard to play on some levels).
if I'm wrong about them actually following through on the "lite" version of the game then I'll apologize publicly, but I can't imagine it's worth their time to develop a completely new game engine that runs without a good gpu just for legacy phones that will mostly be upgraded over the next year. not to mention, I doubt they can even do it - the game is full of many layers of graphics flying independently around the screen, like parallax concepts etc.
Good luck on the hero wtih that without spending months writing a custom low level engine just to handle it.

get the older version 1.3.5
that (or a similar revision) is what you used to use. we all went through that experience.
Thanks, I had thought of it, but I also thought that it was because earlier versions of android couldnt render the images well enough and therefore had a performance boost. But now I know how to get my AB experience alright again. IMO the background images and tumble animations are a neccesary sacrifice. And I do hope you are wrong about they not supporting legacy, but I understand your argument well.
EDIT: Just found Angry Birds LITE Beta on market - I remain hopeful
EDIT2: The ROM i found it on wont run it, and rumors say it's the old beta

[Q] N64oid

Anyone get this working for nook? trying to surprise my girlfriend because she loves conker.
runs great on my nook playing mario 64 right now
How did you get it on your nook? I cant find it in the market and market.android.com says its unsupported. Cant even find the damn apk to pirate it, despite the fact that I do wish to pay for it.
Works for me on cm7, kinda laggy though, it is on my phone too, probably just need to wait for some update.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Well I managed to get it, but cant seem to find any games to work. Will continue to try, hope it gets updated soon so more game works and I can actually find it in market
How did you end up installing it, with Cyanogen or ADB or another thing?
I am on CM7. Found, bought and installed it through the Market. Works great, no lag, some slight audio hiccups.
Honestly, this is the best N64 emulator I have played.

Happened to find the apk (since i cant f**king find it on market [you should be able to download the apk if you purchase it]) and just opened it on the nook to install it. It seems for 2.1 (stock) it wont show up in the market.
How does CM7 handle games like mario kart? Because for stock its laggy as hell. And conker doesnt even load past the first few credit screens >.<

hm...I got mario running really well, but all other games are running terrible. Lylat Wars is smooth, but slow and the audio is broken. I hope there's going to be some improvements during the next couple of weeks
Here's a video I made playing Mario 64:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqw92eIbGL4
EDIT: Apart from the performance issues, n64 looks just great on the nook. Banjo Kazooie and Zelda look amazing
And is it just me, or are all textures shown at full detail? Looks like there's no mipmapping, or full anisotrophic filtering, which could explain the performance issues

How did you get the "thumbstick" on the bottom? I suppose the textures are at full detail but its been a long time since ssb and infinity blade spoiled me.
That's just the default virtual keaypad. I didn't do anything specific to get it set up like that
Seems on stock the layout is borked. Once I get my sd later today I'll just try it on CM, dont suppose it works on HC?
Works really well on Froyo. All I have tried is Mario 64 but it is completely playable!
Only issue I can see atm is the fact it still has things to iron out and the price is a little to high for it being in early stages. Just my two cents.
running good for me too other than mario party sound is a lil jacked up too
Running great on Phiremod v4. Actually, Starfox 64 is running a little better than on my Dinc, somehow.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Anyone know why I would get an application not installed error? I tried via adb and it said invalid apk, but the same apk works on my phone
Runs really well on my Nook with the latest CM nightly... Only change I made was to the LCD density in the build.prop file... From 160 to 161...
Also, download Rom Gripper++ from the market... It has a N64 section to download ROMs... I got Mario Kart 64, Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Mario 64 so far... All work with only minor audio hiccups...
So I'm the only one with performance issues? Zelda is pretty much unplayable for me.
I'm running phiremod v4 flashed with the latest nightly. everything else runs butter-smooth
EDIT: I think I'll have to re-flash the OC-kernel. let's see if that helps
Mario 64 very fast. Shadows of, the empire is unplayable for me

Vibrant is very laggy while playing a game

I am somewhat of a phone freak. I am usually buying, rooting, selling various phones. But recently came back and started using a Vibrant again. I am noticing that a few of my favorite games run piss poor on this phone. Namely Squibble, Drag Racing, games that as far as I can tell aren't too heavy.
I have tried a few other ROMS thinking this was the problem, Bi-Winning, Simply Galaxy, Performance V, among some others. I just can't get these games to run right. With or without Lag Fixes, I've even tried stock firmware.
Any ideas which roms are best for gaming? or any other ideas.
Haven't played drag racing, but I can confirm Squibble has always lagged really bad for me. Strange that such a simple game will do that, yet some Tegra 2 games will run perfect.
I am curious if you installed those games directly from the Google app market or the Amazon App Store. I have actually been meaning to ask around here if anyone else has had trouble with Amazon App Store games. I don't know if it is just the games I chose or if there is something else that is going on behind the scenes.
I first had problems with Angry Birds Rio. It was terribly laggy for me. After changing roms I didn't put the Amazon App Store back on my phone until recently when I added it for Plants vs. Zombies. Once I run that game the phone gets laggy on me until I reboot. I can't play it, stop playing it, then load it back up later without rebooting. Actually I can, it just is almost impossible to play the second time around.
Anyhow, just curious which app store you used to install the games.
I have been running trigger 3.2 with dragonmodz kernal. dragonmodz is made for gaming. it overclocks the gpu as well as the cpu. drag racing runs really laggy for me for the first few races then runs fine. the only problem is how addicting that game is. I kill the battery. other games run fine. I installed chainfire 3d and the nvidia drivers. dungeon def hd works as well as samurai II. fun game!
squibble runs great for me.
on cm7
I also noticed the horrible lag while playing drag racing. It almost ruins the game. But I can tell you what fixes it completely for me, and I mean no lag, not even the first race. Just install MIUI. I use the "Energy" version. I have a hunch that any gingerbread based rom would likely work tho, although you did mention simply galaxy in your roms that youve tried list. I am torn between having wifi calling, (2.2 based only) and having playable Drag Racing (2.3+ based only). Currently still on Energy in spite of my almost non-existant network in my area. Good Luck

Looks like this hasnt been tested on a vibrant yet. Was built for nexus one. I dont mind being the guinea pig tho.
Edit: Tried flashing it, it failed but atleast it didnt brick my phone. Just rebooted after failure and all was well. Hopefully someone can make this work for our vibrants. With Working GPS on ginger, now all we need is wifi calling to be bug free gingerbread. Were so close!
update: I started a new topic about getting this ported over in the development section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15064209#post15064209
I really hope someone can getter going!
Try putting your phone in airplane mode. My buddy with an og droid can't play Angry Birds unless he does.
Why in the world does that game need to see system log files and phone identity. I hate odd permissions.

there is, there are,
depending on the type of rhodium you get. (100-500)
don't buy it if you need it for daily use, its not as far as that, and gaiming is no option and will never be!
email, office work well, calling, sms too.
batterydrain is too high, atleast charching every 12hours needed!
it is developing in huge steps but it still needs time, and it will never be like a native android phone!
but after all i love to use it as my second phone/tablet for facebookchat, email, watch ebay, regard my forums (like xda!)
for home use its okay id say.

The phone can be overclocked. If you want it to be stable, I would not go above 650MHz or so, although some reported OK results at 710. Even 650 Angry Birds would be fairly slow, even with backgrounds disabled, although I have not tried at all with the latest GB builds. Even Jewels and Solitaire stutters badly at times.
GB is pretty stable on my RHOD400 (Sprint CDMA TP2), but BT does not work, and camera seemingly either. I agree with other posters that GB with the latest kernels had improved battery life quite a bit vs. FroYo.
Hope this helps.
OM
Updating here since with 3.3.6 kernel BT and camera appear to be working.

It's a great option, it just doesn't fit your particular needs.
I can't imagine choosing angry birds over the best world class mobile keyboard in existence, but different strokes for different folks.
I agree with that
I think Doodle Jump actually does work. Fruit Ninja does. Angry Birds does not (crashes on startup). I don't know about Temple Run.
How about speedx?
Could you try temple run (or is it paid?)

For grins and giggles I just tried the latest update of Angry Birds 2.1.1 on Sprint TP2 oc'd to 710400. It takes a painfully long time to load, near 2-3 minutes. If you let the phone go into "light sleep" while it loads, the game crashes. If you keep it alive, then after it loads with the background disabled it is playable, although slow, and level to level transitions take long. It is better than I remember on Froyo.
I agree with others, with great keyboard, decent screen resolution, it is OK with the latest GB, especially after all the audio libraries got baked in, for text, light to moderate internet browsing, puzzle (non-graphics intensive) games, and TETHERING. GPS also works fine, with Google Maps navigation working.
Temple Run is paid on Android for some reason, free on iPhone.
I thought temple run is only for HDPI devices with QSDxx/MSM7x30 or above cpu's only?

I could swear I could see the paid version in Froyo. Just tested with GB, you are right, it does not show up in the latest Market version.
One way or another, it is a no go on this device.
OM
If you want to play games, don't get a phone with an Adreno130... Get something with at least an Adreno200+ if you want to play recent games!
This device runs Android surprisingly well, but again if you're just buying it to run Android, don't. Buy an Android phone...

Selling my HOX+ after 15 days

Where do I start? I bought my One X+ with much fanfare a couple of weeks ago and was very excited. But today I'm thinking about selling it. Don't get me wrong it is not a bad device. It is probably the best looking phone I've ever used. It has got an awesome display and great build quality. That is where the good things end.
I bought the phone well aware of the fact that Tegra chip had problem with Gameloft games. I was OK with that I don't like Gameloft games too much. But this phone can't even play games like Temple Run, Rayman Jungle Run and quite a few less graphic intensive games. Today, I bought Prince Of Persia: The Shadow and Flame from Play Store as I'm a big POP fan. But to my absolute HORROR it ran terribly on my phone. The exact same game runs beautifully & flawlessly on brother's 2 year old Galaxy Nexus. My blood boiled. I did not pay about $450 for this. On top of that the battery is very, very erratic.
Don't get me wrong folks. I have tried everything in the book. I've tried every custom ROM, kernel, SCRIPTS for gaming, TEGRA Overclock APP in order the improve my experience. All this turned out to a be a waste of time and money.
So, here I am. I am seriously thinking about selling the phone and getting a used S3 for the moment. Atleast I would get me money worth with that. Your thoughts?

I already tried Carbon ROM but it did not help. The experience should have been good out of the box especially when one has paid a good amount of money for a high end device such as this. Not everyone is comfortable flashing ROMs.

I believe the definition of lag differs for everyone. I compare it with my brother's 2 year old Galaxy Nexus which has now become obsolete.
Among the games you listed I had tried only Rayman Jungle Run - and I've got none of the problems you mentioned, runs fine without any lags whatsoever, completely smooth. Same goes for Carmageddon. I'm using InsertCoin 3.8.2 with elitekernel (and it's actually underclocked - restricted to 1,2ghz!). You might want to give it a try!
Flashed CM10.1 and played the same games. The performance improved a bit but still very unsatisfactory. Can I expect the official 4.2.2 update to improve anything?

I can't play it on another hox+ because I am the only one in my area with this device, but I have played it in my S2, Tab Plus and I know what you mean by lag I am a hard core gamer, I really have to say that for POP I experience no form of lag at all(not even the occasional hiccups) , haven't tried installing Gameloft games yet but will mention later after I try installing some. That said, I have had (very) minor lags with Horn(which by the way is optimized for tegra devices only) when I have lots of active apps running in the background, overall I am pretty satisfied with the performance given by the hox+ currently.

After a lot of contemplation, I decided to part with my One X+. I thought things would improve with the 4.2 update but I was wrong. I reckon you stick my latest test kernel on there. I'm really pleased with it. I'm playing asphalt 7 on just two cores, no lag, runs smooth, full graphics, doesn't get particularly hot. Still murders the battery though. I guess that's the large-screen drawback.
