Hi,
I am running stock 4.0.3 ICS XWLP7 on my I9100, rooted with CF-Root 5.4 and wanted to update to 4.1.2 by using Chameleon ROM 3.0.2...
So I went to recovery, did factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and installed the zip file, but after rebooting I am stuck at the bootlogo (with the yellow triangle). After ~10 min. I pulled the battery and rebooted. I was able to get into the new recovery so I tried to flash it again but got the same error.
I am now back at 4.0.3 (nandroid restore).
So.. is there something obvious I did wrong?
TIA for your help.
Did you format system first? If is not working try another kernel

As title basically, I remember reading something about wipe roms having a extra 'data' file inside the archive which triggers it but cant find anything more on it. I wanna have an XEU LP7 ROM that wipes on flashing.

If your flashing the ROM via a CWM flashable .zip, the updater script will have the commands to format the various/required partitions.
You will need to add the extra lines and re-zip prior to flashing. If you're using Windows, you need to use NotePad++ to amend the script (not NotePad).

Wirh a manual full-wipe you have besser control.
1. factory reset
2. format /system
3. format /data
4. format /cache
5. wipe dalvik
6. wipe battery stats
7. format internal sd-card (not ever neccesary)
flash
format SD ex-SDcard >>>> everything in ex-sdcard gone ), you must copy rom again to intener store and flash ^^
You can also nuke it.

Then flash a matching Siyah kernel via Odin to see if it boots.
If it doesn't boot, try entering CWM recovery after flashing Siyah. Then do a full wipe.

my solution
to solve it, first I think "the problem is the kernel", well I download the siyah kernel and flash it. later I put on the device but doesn´t boot. I find on internet the stock kernel and flash it. It doesn´t boot...... . finaly I download the stock firmaware (2.3.4) and the new JB 4.1.2 and I flash the first but doesn´t work and later the 4.1.2. this time the phone start normally and it, does a "boot-loop" (only one) and now it works perfectly.
PD: sorry for my english
It is a... Bootloop.
To fix the problem:
1- Flash Siyah Kernel or any other Custom Kernel like SpeedMod or PhilZ
2- Reboot into recovery mode
3- Do a Wipe Cache
4- In advanced, Do a Wipe Dalvik Cache
5- Reboot

Yup as he said it's a bootloop , but you don't need to flash again (since he already installed a custom rom) a new kernel the bootloop can be fixed by wiping data then wiping cache and wiping dalvik cache after installing your rom.
Recommending Siyah is just to make sure you are on a stable kernel, but most custom kernels associated with custom roms are good enough.

Good day all,
I have a problem with samsung based roms. When i flash them, the phonegets stuck at the samsung logo. I tried a few JB 4.1.2 rom from samfirmware.com. And today i tried to flash omega rom v23. With all of them i get the bootloop. I've already tried the newest siyah and philz kernels, but it didn't help.
This is what i do when flashing a new rom: wipe data, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik. Then flash the rom.
I have no problem flashing aokp roms. Because i have flashed omega rom v12 aokp milestone and it starts normally.
Can anyone help me?
ps. when i do data wipe, i get "E : format_volume : make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblkl1p2
DOes this have anything to do with the bootloops?
Anyone got this problem with Samsung based roms?

Try this download these 2 wipe scripts Rom Wipe / Nuke script Then for good measure this too Kernel Wipe and save files to sd card.
Then go into download mode flash both files, then any Rom you wish immediately after, hope this helps.
Do a full wipe, install the rom, reboot into Recovery, install fixed Philz-kernel (or Siyah), and reboot. In my case it worked, but I agree it's pretty difficult sometimes.
The first boot takes very long by the way.

I have similar problem, no error popups though...
after full wipe (even using cleaning scripts) and installing new rom (with recommended kernel) my phone bootloops on splash screen...
I only found out that stock roms work, and most of custom fails - I managed to launch ReVolt once, failed any other time even with the same method. Furthermore ReVolt caused my simlock to come back (and this is actually a different story - tried every method to unlock my phone but only with Galaxy_S unlock and only on Gingerbread worked)
Could it be casued by any "deeper" ingerence of the provider i got my phone from? It's Orange, Poland
Thanks for any tips
I can install stock ics 4.0.4 without a problem. But when I try to flash stock jelly bean via Odin, it gets stuck at the Samsung screen. And I've waited nearly an hour and still stuck at Samsung screen

Almost all the time in case of a bootloop what neo suggested is enough only if that fails should an other kernel be suggested, with the above procedure to be repeated.

I have finally decided to upgrade my SGS2 and install Android 4.3.0 (currently using an old version of CM 10.1 based on Android 4.1.2).
After wiping my device (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, format /system) and flashing a new ROM, everything worked fine, but when I rebooted my phone it didn't boot anymore (I could still get to recovery/download mode though). This has happened with several 4.3.0 ROMs I've tried...
I've been looking for a solution for a few days now but found nothing, do you have any idea what may be causing this and how can i fix it?
Try flashing without GAPPS at first.
Try format system, flash ROM, Boot, If succeeded reboot and flash gapps. (ensure its the current version - and I suggest the CORE edition.)
Also try using a ROM wipe script before flashing the ROM.

I used GS2ROMNuke (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100558) and it seemed to do the trick! My phone is up and running (even rebooting correctly) now with Android 4.3.0.
I will post an update in case it breaks up again (which hopefully it won't).
Thank you!
