Does any one know where to get a replacement back mine broke in my pocket today, I'd like to get a replacement that isn't glass, even if I have to sacrifice the NFC antenna.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Only ones I've seen are the glass type on eBay ranging $100-$300
I'm in need of one too, mine broke a while ago and is progressively getting worse

That's what I was afraid of. Think we could find someone with a very precise CNC machine to make us new ones for that much out of something like aluminum?

Awful idea. Remember iPhone antenna gate?
Sent via LG E970 with houstonn aokp 4.2.2
Right. But as far as I know only the NFC antenna is in the back not the GSM/LTE antenna so shouldn't it be fine? I'd at least try it for $50 bucks. Also if the metal would completely block the signal how does the HTC one get service?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
Because it's not all metal. There are little parts of it that aren't, and that's where the antennae are.
If you can't find a replacement back, maybe best case would be putting this on the back http://www.bodyguardz.com/armor-carbon-fiber-lg-optimus-g-p970.html to at least prevent it from getting worse. It should prevent pieces from falling off and it'll cover it up and make it look better (at least in theory).

I bought my replacement from the same seller (but the price was lower then). I took it to a screen/case repair stand at the mall and they installed in less than 10 minutes.

Honestly, it makes me suspicious, as does that price on craigslist.
I posted pictures of it

That doesn't look right... I would run from that one... Possibly a KIRF clone from China?
Don
i saw some i900 at 350 on ebay...
Just watch out, see te settings about the cellphone
If the phone is legit when I check it out.. Should I buy it?
How can I change the cover under the battery cover
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
I just compared the back of the phone in the picture with mine. The pictured one looks to be made of a cheaper plastic than mine and/or as deeper indents. Anyone else notice this?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
A picture with the phone actually ON and WORKING would help
I'd stay away from it, seems shady. The seller possibly could of found it on the floor sans battery, and attempted to sand down rough knicks from it being dropped.
Also there's ribbons for the antenna and other things that go right where it's sanded down and you don't know if that's going to affect the signal or not.

If it's stolen, and was replaced through att insurance, I believe att places a permanent imei block on the phone. If that is the case, the phone will only function unlocked on TMo, sans 3 and "4" G data.
That price definately falls in the too-good-to-be-true category. If they don't want the phone, its been out less than 30 days, why don't they return it. Very fishy.

That's the part that sounds fishy to me.
I would walk away.
I would at least get the imei number and call at&t and make sure it isn't stolen.

Wow, too damage for being a 30 days or less time phone...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Kinda scary. I would suggest going with the imei idea. If its legit and you don't mind the damage it would be a gamble still.

Hadn't thought of that, although selling at this price could net them almost twice the money.
I've seen mention of the bumper case in a few posts... is there anywhere to purchase it online? Or for that matter, anywhere to purchase it besides an AT&T store?
I haven't found it on Belkin's web site and the only other sites I've seen it on said it was "Out of Stock". I passed on buying it in the store because it was $35 and I know it isn't worth that much!

I agree it's not worth $35. I bought it at the at&t store the other day, and stopped using it today. The tiny amount of extra width it added to the phone was just too much for me. The OG feels much better in hand without a case. It is a little too slippery, though.

The Belkin case is a cheap piece of crap. I've already managed to crack the hard plastic shell taking it off to clean. And yes, it is very slippery.

Anyone know if there is an anodized back door to replace the plastic one? I think a full anodized body would look sweet on the evo!
Sent from my EVOLTE
dont think there is one as the antenna is attached to the back of that plastic door.
I think I read somewhere the reason its plastic is because the metal interfered with the nfc.

Pretty much.

I would imagine so, as plastic allows the signal to transfer through much much better than metal/aluminum!! I know from experience as I had the Asus Prime(TF201), before upgrading to the Asus Infinity(TF700T) which has a plastic section on the top/back of the body. The Prime did not and suffered from poor Wifi, Bluetooth, and GPS performance. GPS is so bad that Asus sent out a free GPS dongle to all Prime owners who wanted one. The Infinity is amazing and gets great signal thanks to the plastic strip integrated in to the body.

In addition to what has already been said, our device isn't as popular as we'd like it to be so there's very little in the way of customized aftermarket parts. It's sad really, as it's nigh impossible to even find a plastic door with a different color.

Just thought of this, too: our battery door isn't just a piece of plastic. It also contains antenna strips necessary for our phones to work properly, so it's not as simple as just making molds of the part.

Only the EVO, all of the other HTC 2012 devices with NFC do not have any removable parts or doors. It is however located in the same area.
Actually all the antennas are under that plastic panel IIRC. So using metal isn't really a good idea. People already complain about poor signal using metal for the panel will have even more folks whining.

anyone tried plastidipping the gloss door part?
Safe to do as long as you can seal the inside. Those antenna strips have to be left dry.

Get the Ghost Armor Matte full body protection. I absolutely hated the fact that the back of the phone was shiny (gloss) and the other half of the back was not. So I got the matte protection and its all one flat black matte. Got that on day 1...
I just got my phone 8 days ago and last night I dropped it without a case on and scratched up the front corners. It's it possible to get it exchanged at AT&T? If so how?

how bad is it, you can always claim something else is wrong with it. Where did you buy it from?
It's very small. I was able to kind of hide the clear aluminum showing with a black marker. I also just noticed I have 3 dead pixels so maybe that would be enough if they don't really notice the scrapes. I got it from an official AT&T store.

Definitely worth a try. Dead pixels are a big deal. I say go for it. Plus, those scuffs don't look too bad.

It's sad how many people commit Fraud
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Personally I dropped mine and it got scuffed a little too, so much that it bothered me. I was within 14 when it fell so I took it back and told them that it was to fragile along the edges, got way to hot (130°) which I screenshot and the headphone jack doesn't work well with FM radio and he said no problem and replaced it and that was that. It was fraud on my end, and I paid good money for a phone that I wanted to keep in mint condition. Haven't dropped the second one yet but I have gaps, which isn't too bad. My advise, go for it and it isnt fraud of there is actually a problem with it anyway.

I ended up trading it in and getting a silver one. I was completely straight with the rep and showed him the scratches which he thought was no big deal and were barely even noticeable. I had to point out the scratch locations since he couldn't even see them at first. I showed him the dead pixels and also the power button which had this awful click sound which drove me crazy. I just had to pay a restocking fee and was good to go.
So my DNA was sitting on the bedside table last night and my girls cat pulled the charger cable and knocked it off of the table. When it fell it hit the leg of the table on the top left-hand corner and shattered the screen. I am having digitezer issues now and it is very annoying. Does anyone know where I can get the screen replaced? If that's even possible.
Thanks for any help.

It doesn't appear too bad to do. I'd suggest getting a "frame" and the adhesive as well. Separating them seems to be the hardest step.
Also get a tool kit.
