[Q] Flashing Imperium v12.2 ROM - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Rooted Galaxy S3. Can anyone tell me the steps required to flash the Imperium v12.2 ROM?
I have the official firmware I9300XXEMC2, will I have a problem with the bootloader or something like that? Can I flash it with Mobile ODIN or must be in CWM?
Thanks

I assume you are talking about this rom, as there are no special instructions in that thread, follow the guide to flash a rom (depending on what format the rom is in (zip, or md5), you can use CWM or Odin/Mobile Odin)
edit: sorry, just saw that it has an Aroma installer, hence CWM is the way to go.

thanks
Thanks for answering.
That is the Rom that I'm trying to flash.
I tried once with CWM, BUT! The flashing process went wrong. I just follow the steps in Aroma installer and when I click continue the flashing process begins and the phone reboots and the samsung logo appears, but nothing more happend.
I had to restore the firmware :s ...
Any help?

I guess you did a full wipe before? If not do so and try again.

Thanks

@chrismast Yes, I did a full wipe before flashing...
Aroma installer gets frozen in some parts of the installation process...
After trying a lot, finally I did it!
Good custom ROM

You will need a rooted Galaxy S2 to install all ROM/kernels.
NOTE: PLEASE ONLY INSTALL ROMS INTENDED FOR YOUR VERSION OF Galaxy S2! Otherwise you WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE and I will not be responsible! ALL ROMs on this site are ONLY for Verizon Galaxy S2!

I wouldn't have tried this as your phone is i9100P, although I know the difference isn't that big.
Also, was your phone rooted? It had to have been rooted beforehand.

Hi, yes it was rooted prior to this, but i thought the only difference was that the P version had NFC - but now it seems I am stuck at the boot screen - any ideas? I would appreciate it a lot!

I am downloading 4.0.3 from here: devsrom4android.blogspot (DOT)co (DOT) uk/2012/06/i9100pxxlph-o2-uk-samsung-galaxy-s2-gt.html
4.0.3 is what I previously had, and I believe that was the exact firmware I had on the phone (o2 NFC version)

That's your problem. You were on 4.0.3, which is ICS.
The instructions at galaxys2root.com/galaxy-s2-root/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-rooted-galaxy-s2-i9100/ don't specify, but they are for Gingerbread ONLY. The recovery kernel contained within that zip package is ClockworkMod Recovery 4.0.1.4, which is for Gingerbread.
This thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693) is the updated version of that recovery kernel for ICS.
You don't have to flash the full firmware, just flash a kernel that is meant to work with ICS and you should be fine.

Thanks for the advice - but i already have the stock ROM on an SD card so i think i will flash this. Problem is i cannot get CWM to read from the external SD card, so i cannot locate the zip and install it - help?
EDIT: if i install the kernel you gave me the link to ([KERNEL][ICS] ClockworkMod Recovery 5.5.0.4) , will it remove the root access i had?
EDIT 2: I have just flashed the kernel via odin, and it finally got past the screen with the yellow triangle! However, it is now stuck on the second screen which shows the 'S' logo with the words 'Samsung Galaxy SII' under it. Any more ideas?

Can you boot to recovery? If so, you can try a factory reset/wipe data. You'll lose all your data, (not counting pictures/media) but at this point, do you have anything to lose?

Well, now I'd say you need to flash a full firmware. You said you downloaded I9100PXXLPH from here? Should work. But you'll no longer be rooted, and you won't have CWM recovery.
How did you get into this in the first place? You wanted CWM recovery?

I will be sure to try that, and basically earlier today i rooted it successfully, and then i had to get CWM onto it so i could start flashing new ROMs etc, and i tried installing CWM via that method that has now caused all of this
Never the less i will try your suggestion, so should i basically mount usb from CWM, then copy the firmware over to the phone, unmount, and then wipe, and then flash it finally?
EDIT: it wont allow me to mount USB in CWM
can i just flash the ZIP using odin in download mode, or does it have to be a .tar file?

No. That download is for a package that must be flashed while the phone is in download mode. That will require you to use a computer, and a flashing tool, such as Odin or Heimdall.

Thanks a lot guys!!

Well I think Chainfire's CF-Root kernels (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399) are not for i9100P, so not sure if he can achieve permanent CWM recovery. Anyway if he don't plan to flash every hour new ROM he should be fine with latest temporary CWM 6: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840223 although will ask Phil about compatibility.

Don't panic,follow the steps:
1-Root e recovery with cf-root
2-download rom ( zip.packages) If you see any error messages or the procedure stops, then the packet of cooked rom may be corrupted.
Re-download and re-install from the beginning..
3-If the first boot takes more than 20-30 minutes, manually restart the phone by removing the battery or by pressing and holding for 10 seconds the power button.
If the problem persists, perform a hard reset .
4-If the phone restarts all the time, back in recovery mode and re-install, also performing the hard reset.
5-If your phone will not boot up, go into download mode and try to install a firmware via odin, performing a hard reset.
i tried installing a stock rom then flashing over that i have installed a ics one and jb one...didn't work...the problem is not with the booting itself but with the flashing like i said every rom flashes in like 5 seconds...it tells me it;s done and everything went fine but when i reboot i can't get past the samsung logo before the boot animation, so practically the rom doesn't flash...i dont know why...odin works great....but i can't flash through CWM. I wanted to try TWRP recovery also but i can't seem to find one for the international version of SGS3...Please help:crying:
Flash via recovery requires CF Root ,
ROOT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684535
Odin flash is much longer than 5 seconds and short flash is probably wrong file /faulty file .

i have flashed cf root after flashing stock roms both jb and ics and it didint work...i tried to flash like 7 different roms in ics both based on jellybean and ics...i wiped all everytime...

Install PhilZ recovery choose option in menu Wipe Data/Factory Reset then choose Clean to install a new rom this will wipe/format the correct files for you to flash your rom. (Make sure you have your rom on the ext sd card ready to flash! This will format your system partition so don't reboot untill you have immediately flashed the rom after wiping)..
Thanks fir your reply
I already did exactly like u said but the same result bootloop
Is there any rom or kernil to fkash before flashing this romSmartDroid AOSP V45.0?

No.. nothing special to flash before installing.. Are you on latest PhilZ recovery?
Can you install other roms? ( To see if your phone will install other roms)
Have you tried factory resetting after flashing? (To clear any data issues that are causing a bootloop)
Have you tried downloading the rom again? ( could be a bad download)
Have you tried flashing the rom booting up the phone then flashing the gapps.
Also post the exact method that you are using to install..

S3 does not flash a new image

Hey there,
I just got some problems with my S3.
Its the international EUR Version. I9300.
Came from Cyanogen MOD and has TWRP Recovery installed.
Now I tried to flash a new rom, but Log says "Failed". Seems because of Permissions.
See my LOG attached. My Image I want to flash:
EUR-I9300XXUGNG3-20140901145954
Is the file suitable for flashing in recovery, or was it supposed to be via odin?
Is your recovery the latest version?
Try using mobile Odin.

It's probably the version of recovery you're using.

And it show md5 not found.
What roms have you tried? What firmware were you on before you started flashing? Sometimes newer roms need the newest firmware like the bootloader and modem to run correctly. Are you wiping system, data, and both caches? If you are going from a Touchwiz rom to, say, a CM based, it might also be necessary to wipe the internal storage. Of course you should back all that up to a PC first, if you do that.

How can install kernel after. Everytime i install it reboots its self to samsung screen. Or should go back to recovery and install the kernel back. And thank you for your help till now.
That's definitely why it's not booting, if you didn't do the kernel. If the rom has the Aroma installer, typically the last question asks if you want to reboot now and has a check mark in by default. Just uncheck and it'll go back to recovery. But you can also just go back and flash now and should be good.

One more thing is when i chnge the bootloader and modem will the kernel changes. Or is it different.
Please guide me..im confuse.
Someone might have just mislabeled them. Flashing those will not affect kernel. Different partition of the phone.

This is the recommended kernel
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242687310
Recommended recovery is TWRP 2.8.7.0 not the newer 3.0+
Flash other recovery. Boot to TWRP. Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik. Flash rom. Wipe caches. Flash kernel. Reboot. Should work according to lots of people on the thread for that rom.
Hi.
How flash kernel.
just flash the tar.md5 file or the tar.zip file
