Team Black Out Presents.... The Dark Side....Blacked Out Apps - Nexus 10 Themes and Apps

"Welcome to the Dark Side"
Click the quote above to access the site
Team Black Out is made up of some of the best of the best in the industry when it comes to making Blacked Out Apps and Transparent Apps. We decided to team up and release the largest list of Blacked Out Apps available and add to it as often as possible. Our goal is to offer an ongoing list of apps that are updated as soon as possible after the stock app updates by letting just 1 person update it rather than 3-10 of us doing our own thing and ultimately ending up with the same end result.. an Inverted app. So, by doing this, we will be able to branch out and get the list to over 100 apps in time! Many of us have been doing this for over 3 years and some have just began their journey to the Dark Side but we are a team and will work together like a team. The veterans will help train the new-comers how to start from scratch and fully Black Out an app by editing xml lines, drawable images and smali classes files. On the site, we have guides available and will add more of them in time. We announce the Team over a month ago and now the day is here!

T-BOTs are the Team Black Out Testers. When we update an app or start a new one from scratch, we can put anywhere from 20 minutes to 10 hours into 1 app for all of you and then testing that app can take 10-60 minutes and we don't use every app we Black Out so we're bound to miss some hidden things. Well, this is where our Loyal T-BOTs come into play. Once we update an app they get busy looking for issues for us. This gives us more time to be able to update more apps, start new apps or just have some non-android fun. So make sure you thank the T-BOTs when you get blown away from how amazing these apps are!
Obviously this style is the most popular. We don't theme our apps with images but rather Invert the Colors so you'll;ll have Dark backgrounds and Light texts. This is very popular and has become something that many avid Android users have come to thoroughly enjoy this look so we will do our best to give you more of what you love!
Transparent apps have become more popular the last year or so and some members of the Team have been offering them for a while now. Our transparent series of app are called Clear Apps. Being able to see your wallpaper while you';re using your favorite apps is just cool! We still have to update the site with all of our Clear Apps...
Ok kids... click on "Welcome to the Dark Side" at the top and it will take you to our official Team Black Out website! All downloads are hosted there only to keep track of everything. If you've used any of our apps in the past in your Aroma installers or in your ROM, you can still use them. Link back to our SITE wherever you post our content tho. Do not post something in a different forum using our work and then PM us to let us know and hope it's ok with us.... It isn't. Ask first and we'll work with you but ask for forgiveness and we have a problem.

The new app is fantastic! What a great idea & service. I have 2 users on my device & have had trouble running any regular themes. (UI would F/C when the user was switched over). I was forced to run stock "vanilla" look & hated it. Not anymore thanks to you guys and along with the black UI AOKP provides!
I just have to thank you all. Your new app is now one of my must-have favorites. Also, for the first time I just used it to DL & install your new Holo PlayStore. Went perfect & the app even auto flashed it. Great touch! I'm still like... WOW!
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2

I would also thank the many members who create the blackout alternative apps. I have converted to blackout for every app I use. That being said the one app that keeps getting replaced is Google+. After I flash it I do get the blackout version but when I reboot the next time it gets overwritten with the latest from the playstore.
I am on rooted stock 4.2.2 and Google+ 4.0.1.47928040 on both the playstore version and the BlackGPlus.zip downloaded using the TeamBlackoutUpdater.
I uninstalled Google+ which on stock reverts to an older version then used ES File Explorer mounting /system in RW mode to delete the /system/GooglePlus.apk then boot to recovery and flash the blackout version. As stated previously the resulting Google+ is blackout themed but does not stay that way after the next reboot. Ther is notifications that Google+ was updated from the playstore which is likely where the reversion occurs. In fact I get this notification on every reboot whether I flashed Google+ or not.
Any suggestions would be welcome. This is the only blackout app I have this problem including other stock apps like the playstore which also revert back to an earlier version when uninstalled.

Finally fixed this issue by using ES File Explorer's uninstall system app feature. Apprently there is a second file besides GooglePlus.apk that needed to be removed. The forementioned feature found and removed that file.
After re-flashing the blackout version and then rebooting/testing/rebooting a few times the blackout version is no longer being replaced via the playstore.

This post may be of interest to Blacked out app fans:
[HOW-TO] Blacked out theme effect for Web pages (needs root)
In the post is described an method of enhancing Blacked out apps that display HTML pages. For example the Flipboard Blacked out app has a Blacked out theme but as soon as you display a detailed article they appear with white backgrounds and black text. Following the instructions in the link above will, in most cases, extend the Blacked out theme effect for most Flipboard news feeds in the application itself and completely when viewed in a native browser.

Clear Instagram in testing thanks to Sarck our newest member!
We are getting bombarded with updates and have a designated group reporting them to us...some updates might take some time getting to because of the original dev doing a total reconstruction of their ui thus causing then to do bug fix updates. Google maps for instance...they are releasing bug fix updates so we will wait on some of the new updates before we invert them. Just have to be patient and either deal with the stock look or like me wait until we update. We appreciate the help on reporting updates but we have it covered...thanks guys!

These are pics of some of the app theming as of 3.0.
Here are all of the new launchers in one nice summary as of v8.2:
Changelog:
9.1 - Outlined Data Arrows.
v9.2 - Updated to 3.2.1 and reformatted for 50 pixel system ui.
v9.3 - Updated Play Store
v9.4 - Updated Maps and moved Maps and GMail back to the data/app folder.
v9.5 - Added theming to camera. Fixed talk bubble on Google Talk.
v9.6 - Added a themed Google Music
v9.7 - Added new Play Store.
v9.8 - Removed arrows from 3g/4g icons since they don't work anyway.
v9.9 - Updated Gmail
Some people were having problems downloading my files via their phone. If you long press on the file and click open in new window, it appears to be ok after it saves. You can also try another browser.
Disclaimer: 100% of my original base artwork was obtained from Google Images. My work consists solely of resizing, recoloring, relayering, adding, subtracting or assembling original pieces to develop appropriate artwork for each stock icon. Any resemblance to existing theme work is purely coincidental. I have not borrowed, taken, stolen, kanged or otherwise acquired a single piece of artwork from any existing rom to date. Because it is physically impossible to guarantee the authenticity of any claim to original artwork I feel the appropriate acknowledgement will be a general thanks to all artists. Thank you original artists.
What this Theme is:
All Notification bar icons for stock apps, Theming for calendar, Store, GMail, FriendStream, Google Framework, Personalize, Contacts, Dialer, Notes, Sound Recorder, Mail, Messages, Tasks, Phone, Rosie, Settings, System, Talk, Weather, Worldclock, Google Voice, Dock Mode, Dock Screen, Calculator, Camera, Browser, Task Manager, Voice Dialer, Voice Search, Google Maps, Navigation, Places, Mirror, Flashlight, Google Music.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BECAUSE MY INSTALL SCRIPT DELETES ALL AFFECTED FILES BEFORE ADDING THE NEW ONES. IF YOU CANCEL OR REBOOT OR BATTERY DIES, YOU ARE S-O-L. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
Flash this in Clockwork Mod, Amon Ra or TWRP. They all should work.

I only did it tonight because you asked. You have to run with a story to my boss for when he catches me sleeping.

Looks great. Thanks again!
Edit: I just noticed the images in the weather app are distorted which is likely due to you basing your mods off the initial RC1.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW
mine looks perfect. How did it look before hand? Can you nandroid back and see. If it is an RC1 problem, then that would be rom related since I used the current version of the rom's files.

I might have to try that. 4 hours of sleep isn't going to cut it.
My weather doesn't look distorted either
I'm actually talking about this screen. This is how my weather looks currently and if you take a look at yours it will likely not look the same because there were two versions of RC1 released yesterday.
The first RC1 had compressed apks which messed up some of the images and then the second one was uploaded which had the original RC1 without the compression.
Does your weather currently look like this?

Let me redownload the RC1 and see if it is any different. I did get it pretty early in the day when it was released.
well, i redownloaded it, saw that it was 17 meg bigger, reinstalled it and everything looks the same. Does anyone else see a noticeable difference? Can you give me a before and after? I'll gladly redo it with the second download files but I just cant see the difference. Any other telltale signs?
so i rebuilt my stock theme to see if it got better with the new files and it still all looks the same. Help me understand?
I'll flash the mod I downloaded yesterday now so you can see...one moment.
EDIT: Here is the icons in the weather app look after flashing the mod. The very first RC1 you probably downloaded early yesterday had issues with these png's and Mik re-uploaded the fixed version. Sorry about not putting this up earlier but I had already flashed back my nandroid.
Is their any way to just flash the 3g and 4g icons?
ok guys, I put 1.2 in the op. It has the darker blue 3g icons, Yellow lightning bolts in charging and most importantly it was built on the "2nd" RC1 that didn't have the apk's as compressed. i hope that met everyone's requests so far.

do you know how to use adb? i could just give you the SystemUI.apk and you could push it via adb and reboot via adb.
If not, with a little prodding, I can probably make it installable.

Theme Problems/Errors/Glitches - Report them here.

I seem to run across problems in new themes quite a bit, and thought I'd start this thread to post all of them in one spot. Some of these may seem to be silly issues, but if I notice it, others will for sure. Hopefully we can get the themes fixed and replaced on the themer browser.
I wish there was a built in updater...
1. Hub UI - Inconsistent spacing around dash marks on main page.
First picture - As downloaded from Themer theme browser.

2. Hub UI - Social icon opens Health & Fitness Smart Category instead of Social Smart Category (Reported to the theme designer weeks ago)

good idea although there is a problems thread knocking around somewhere on here
Yeah, but hints and tips etc threads have nothing to do with reporting theme errors to the Themer development team.
Posted pictures and a video of the issues with Hub UI theme, looking for the other ones I had issues with, as I had to delete all of my downloaded themes again last night.

Hi,
We'll get these fixed as soon as possible, thanks for the help.
Here's another one for you. As you can see, in this seem the email can over rights the email icon when it hits 3 digits.
I have a problem with CleanMaster. Everytime I tried to clean the junks with CM, I found Themer icons to be missing afterwards. Redownload the themes do not work but I have to uninstall and redownload Themer instead. Note that I do not clean Themer's junks.
What is the problem there?
There's another thread about that. You need to uncheck Zooper widget for cleaning.

Thanks for the image, we'll pass it onto the team.
There's an issue with the calendar app "Cal" and Themer
When you assign Cal as the "Themer Calendar", every time you click on any module with "Themer Calendar" assigned it opens "add event" instead of just opening the Cal app. In addition, it leaves the Cal app 'stuck' and I have to force close Cal to get it back to normal.
Can someone look into this please?
thanks

Hi, please make sure that your DPI/resolution/display settings have been set to default. It might be caused if you rooted your device and some display settings changed. If this isn't the case, please contact [email protected] for more assistance.

Let me explain this
The blue background comes when you do a search or your mail box is syncing to check for the result or new mails. By default this is white in color.
As far as getting rid of it you wont be able to as i did not give the option in this version. I will try to make it same color of your bg in next version. For example you select grey bg it will take the same color automatically.
Pls allow this module to mature as this is the first release. Also, i would request users to throw their feedback to make the color combinations better.
I am also working on a version which will do more detailed theming with more features which will be released in coming days.
Thanks, look forward for your feedback

It's a great start, that was my only question, I thought I overlooked a setting or option, it looks prefect to me otherwise

5 Productivity Apps You Should Check Out

5 Productivity Apps You Should Check Out
Do you ever run into one of those really useful apps where you're like "I really wish I had known about this earlier" but now it's too late because you moved to New Zealand and you're not fitting in? Productivity apps are everywhere. When you go to the Play store you'll see all of the usual suspects like Word, Adobe Reader, Dropbox and some others that I'm sure you are familiar with. I have a few productivity apps that I use regularly and they aren't very popular. You wouldn't really find these apps unless you're specifically looking for that exact type of app on the Play store. So I will recommend that you check out these five apps that you've probably never had the chance to try before.
Chromer
This is a brilliant app that will always be one of the first things I download on any of my new Android devices. So here is the thing. When you're browsing twitter and you click on a link that takes you to an external site, twitter will use the System WebView browser. Since this is not Chrome you will not have your saved passwords, autofill info, default apps or any of the personalized features of Chrome. This will happen is most apps that use a browser to display external links. Chromer solves this issue by forcing apps to use Google Chrome instead of System WebView. This is a fantastic app and fixes a lot of frustration caused by in-app browsers.

Tiny Apps (multiwindow)
After becoming addicted to windowed apps from my Sony Xperia device, it's difficult to use other devices when I can't run my Small Apps. Tiny Apps is the next best thing, offering a wide range of basic apps that run in windows on top of your current tasks. Each window can be moved and resized to your liking. There is no limit to the amount of Tiny Apps that you can run at once, so you'll be able to truly multitask. An app like this will be most effective on a large high resolution screen.
Download
Coffitivity
Just a little ambient noise app to silence the demons in your head. You're all familiar with these types of apps by now and there are plenty to choose from. The reason I personally use this one is because it's the only one that I've used that will continue to play audio on top of my music from my media player. This allows me to quietly play music as I listen to the mumbling of strangers in a coffee shop, as I pretend that all of these people are my friends and really enjoy my company. Maybe they're saying nice things to me like complimenting my shoes or inviting me to dinner. It's a really nice feeling and tends to make me more productive.

Sunrise Calendar
Calendars are garbage. They are literally the most complicated apps I've ever used. 99% of the time I attempt to figure one out but end up uninstalling it within a few minutes. The only calendar app that I've actually been able to use is Sunrise Calendar. This is an app put together by Microsoft and they tend to make really good software. The features of this calendar aren't what make it stand out but rather it's the ease of use. If you find yourself getting frustrated with calendar apps, give this one a try.

Snowball - Smart Notifications
I like this app so much and cannot recommend it enough. Snowball turns your notifications into much more than just an alert. With this app you'll be able to respond to many different types of notifications without having to launch the actual app that they're coming from. Your notifications will also be sorted by importance and the most important notification will always be on top. If you get a lot of notifications then you're going to really enjoy this app.

Productivity apps are in a category that is so extensive that you wont always find the best apps for you. So post some of your favorite productivity apps in the comments.
You know Sunrise calendar will eventually be killed, Microsoft is integrating it all into Outlook.

Most likely. Probably a good reason to get it now before they remove it!

The app will be useless without the back end cloud services though. It's not most likely either, Microsoft have confirmed this is happening.
I would like to say thanks for Snowball. I like it very much.
Thank's very Good apps =D>

Among these 5 apps, I have been using Snowball for last few days. Seems to me a good and useful app.
Snowball & Chromer looks promising. I'll give it a try.
It's so amazing and beautiful app man
What I chose was Chromer & Tiny app
You have wonderful threads Sir
Keep it up
Snowball s awsm.... Made it easy...
Thanks for directing me towards Chromer and Snowball. Both are great finds and do a great job.
I don't have any apps to add to the list, as I don't generally try out new apps, but I'll certainly update here if I find any which are worthy
Thank you for Chromer ! it's really useful !
thanks got chromer looks cool
Thanks for the list! The chromer link leads to making a new thread btw.
Chromer seems to be working wel with Jswarts CAF Chromium build.
I don't like snowball's new notification UI. I'd rather use it's heads-up notification UI and functionality with the default notification pull-down UI. I'm trying Sunrise and Chromer right now and they seem very nice to me. Thanks!
thanks
Thanks man, I have been using chromer for a while now
Gonna try out snowball
Also
There's a new app being released by the old es file explorer developer called fooView in XDA. It's still in alpha but it's a good productivity app.
Give it a try
is there anything for firefox same like chromer? coz i dont like chrome...
thanks snowball will try...thanks to gesture can use both system UI and snowball too.
Does sunrise calendar actually gives you the sunrise and sunset time?
I thought it was about this but it doesn't seem to be the case. Too bad, it would have been a great feature, knowing at first glance if it is day or night is not only great for planning outdoor activities but also gives you an intuitive sense of time.
Snowball looks good. going to test it

Hey everyone, welcome to my thread. I'm hoping to see some familiar faces around here so please pop in and give a quick hello! For those who aren't familiar with me, I've been designing themes for LG for a few years now and have supported devices from the V10, V20, G4, G5, G6, G7, V30, V40, G8, V50 and now I welcome the G8X! It's been quite a ride the past few years and I've really enjoyed this and would like to say thank you to everyone who has popped in to take a look or gotten involved with any of my threads. So the purpose of this thread is to provide support, feedback and have an open channel to communicate with everyone regarding updates, ideas, and give support to those who need it. The only rules are to be kind and do not start or engage in negative discussions. For the most part that seldom happens because that's just not how I do things around here so we shouldn't have to worry about any of that stuff. If someone does come in and rips on one of you or me just report the user and one of our moderators will send them on their way. I encourage people to post their screenshot setups or other things that come from using any of my themes. For example you may have set a custom dpi or something and found it looks really clean. Definitely share that with people here and mention what you set it to be so others can give it a whirl. Now the important part when using any of my themes is to actually read the app description when you're looking at it on Google Play. I often post important information there that you may find useful in order to get the best experience. Also I am very active on Google plus too so be sure to follow my LG themes collection there as I post things there too. Rip :crying: You can also follow or join my LG Themes community on Facebook called "LG Themes" and also follow me on Twitter "@benczemark" or Instagram "markbencze". Anyway let's get started. This thread will hopefully grow over time, as will this page. I'm taking all the posts on it in the event that I need to post more information about various themes. That's just how I do things. So let's begin. Introducing.....
Rain
This is Rain, an LG Home+ theme for your LG G8X UX 9. This theme is a premium quality theme like no other Home theme+. What you see is what you get and that is quality and attention to details! Rain is a dark theme with some bright gradient accents throughout. The Dark Notifications compliment the ui and battery life! The app icons have a slight gradient to them, with some more noticeable than others. This theme does not support adaptive icons as some of the key features of this theme are blocked by enabling the adaptive icons.
For best experience it is recommended to turn on Dark Mode in settings, display so that some of your third party apps will automatically take on dark mode. However it is not necessary if you'd prefer them to stay light. The theme will look the same if you leave Night Mode off
So enough chit chat already right? Let's show a few screenshots shall we?

One UI 2
So UX 9 does have a somewhat oneui kinda feel to it. But it's just not quite there and missing a few things. So I decided to go all the way on this one and go full on One Ui 2 and give us all the goodness that we wanted. Adaptive and dynamic icons are included. I highly recommend choosing the "round" option which can be accessed via settings app, display, home and selecting the icon shape. If you want you can change from light mode to dark mode as well and the notifications will change as well. A reboot may be required when doing this as some notifications may suffer slightly if you don't reboot. It's a very clean and minimal theme and as per the title and screenshots, what you see is what you get!

Ok so this thread is too quiet so I'm gonna have to make something super buggy to get some action in here!

Awesome :highfive: :good:
I am not able to find it either in play store. I found the rain theme for UX8 but nothing for UX9. Could you please post a direct link to playstore?
Never mind. Found it.
Calender icon is not updated for dark theme. Could you please fix that and push an update to playstore?

Mark,
Notification for https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.weather.Weather is impossible to read due to dark text on dark background. Is this something you can fix please?
