That means you just need to turn on the location services in Settings!

No he is probably hitting the bug in Network Location after latest services update. Google changed it, they are working on a fix which I hope will be released soon.
If you cant wait only factory reset helos.

Thanks for any help!

I really hope this isnt a wide spread thing. I use Google talk heavily. I cant afford for it to disconnect upon my screen timing out. I havent used it since I activated my phone to test though.
Maybe check under the power saver option in settings. There is an option to turn off background data when the screen turns off. Maybe that's it?

I will try that setting out and report back

Just uncheck auto away status and it will stop logging out.

Is anyone else having an issue where google talk won't load for them? I touch the icon and it looks like it loads for a second then flashes back to the app drawer. I tried clearing the application data, didn't help, and of course I can't uninstall/reinstall

Yup, I have to restart the phone to get it working. I also notice that Restart does NOT restart the phone for me. It powers it down.

I have both of those exact same problems. Hopefully, the next software update will fix these issues.
Anybody else having issues getting location? Maps and other apps aren't getting location. I can get GPS now and then but only in the very open. Seems like I can't get agps or network location.

I get a GPS lock in my living room within 5 seconds. No issues at all getting location.
Hmmm wonder why I'm having issues then

I had location nailed down before the map loaded <2-3 seconds. I am also on WiFi at my parents house.
Under settings>location I have all the boxes checked.

I can't get the weather to find my location I think I have a bad GPS chip I've tried resetting and everything but if I go to Verizon to switch it out I hope they don't try to get rid of my unlimited data

I did something similar and all of a sudden after a reboot it asked for permissions to use my Google account. After that everything has been working peachy.

If you mean the icon next to your 4g icon, that isn't the GPS icon. That reticle stays there and does nothing.
GPS failing during Strava
When I start a Strava OR Endomondo cycling tracking the GPS seems to stop tracking during the ride. If I wake the phone to read a text or something it seems to come back. Is it possible it is being put to sleep by OS or Sense even though the app is still asking for data through the API? Otherwise it locks quickly and works as intended.
I'm having weird issues with Google Navigation. Google Maps works fine.
The navigation app freezes and doesn't follow my movement. When I go from portrait to landscape it cuts off half the screen.
Any way I can reinstall or update Navigation? It's not showing in play store like it used to.

Edit: as a side note, anyone with the navigation problem, have you done complete firmware software and hboot update or just the os update with older firmware? I only did software change and kept my old hboot etc.

Are you all running completely stock, locked, no htcdev unlock, root or anything? The reason I ask is because gf has completely untouched stock elte and gonna see if she has these problems, maybe its just us unlocked/rooted users having problems. Just another angle to think about possibly.

I am unrooted, completely stock everything. Everything worked well before the JB update. After the JB update, everything still works with the only exception of Google Navigation. Maps works well, but Navigation starts acting up within a couple of minutes. I tried clearing the app data and cache, didn't help either. Symptoms are exactly the same as the OP. Turning phone sideways cuts screen by half, no rendering, gets unuseable. It finally sends a message that the app stopped working.
Interestingly enough, the old TeleNav GPS Navigator (used to be called Sprint Navigation) does work, but that app is pretty ugly, and not as accurate. That makes me think it is not necessarily something broken with the GPS, if other apps can access it with no problem.

For what it's worth, tons of reports on other forums on this exact same issue. Even on Google Play, if you filter user reviews by phone, it is being reported there as well.
Just got my 64 gb version from online order. Brand new, no rooting what so ever.
But the weather widget (on top of the blinkfeed) is not able to find location. Just says "current location".
Trying manually to refresh, it says "Unable to contact location services......" Kinda annoying.
Anyone else got this problem?
Try turning off wifi.

Did you give it time, though? I had the same thing happened, and it didn't connect until after about 30 minutes of wifi being off - both times after I set the phone up as new.

Yep I had Wi-Fi off for a long time, still would not connect.
Funny though, I downloaded the AccuWeather App and that gets a location in no time.

I had an issue with the latest OTA and even some stock based Roms not updating my latitude either after the last update. Ended up using an app called backitude from the market that pushed updates.
It started working for me again when I installed the last Meanbean ROM.
