I'm on shostock3, I use 2 different galleries, stock Samsung and the one packed with the 4.2 Camera. Whenever I go to look at the pictures in the gallery it uses up my remaining internal storage space which is around 750+ mb, and just hogs it up. I have to manually delete the data file which ends up being a slow task as its hidden and everything has to be scanned first. I usually use 4.2 gallery but I don't think it makes a difference, the thumbnail data is still created and eats up my storage space.
Is there a solution to have the gallery delete its own thumbnail data, or reducing the amount it uses?

I have a weird issue. On first run all is fine. On a reboot, my gallery app and music app are showing doubles of all the files. BUT Google music does not. I took my SD card out and it shows singles but they are all blank. They are in a cache somewhere but i cant find where. I would like to delete them.
Anyone?

Find Media Storage under applications list and delete the data.
Thanks. That fixed it.

So lately I've noticed that my SD card is apparently full, like I'll get warning messages when downloading apps and stuff that the storage space is insufficient. But I know the overall storage space and I haven't used anywhere near that much. And I tried removing two files I didn't need through USB storage, and the space still didn't go up! I'm using cyanogenmod 9 on the Samsung galaxy exhibit 2 4G.

Its your internal storage not your SD card.

OK, but on app 2 SD it shows around 600 mb internal memory that is still usable. But when I go into what's on the SD card in that same app, it shows 0 free space which is also false. I know that the regular sdcard is the internal memory and ex-sd card or emmc is external. But still I dont have anything in there taking up that much space, app2sd shows that. And I've already dug around in root explorer and I couldn't find any massive data doing this.

Here, this is what app2sd is showing me.

OK so I think the problem is that since cyanogenmod doesn't use the regular external SD card folder, and uses the emmc folder instead, that's causing this.

I dont like to use the facebook app, just the browser. On alll cm or aosp roms, i get an error, unavle to perform do to low memory, when i try to upload a photo. Anyone else have this issue?

nope and i uploaded 50+ photos on cm10.1 yesterday to google
have you cleared cache have you cleared old data or moved it from sense sdcard location to cm10.1 location?
/data/media/ <<<< sense sdcard location
/data/media/0 <<<< cm10.1 sdcard location maybe delete a few photos or save onto your pc
i would diff clean out old sense data like you r old backups <<< as these all very large almost 1gb a piece some are bigger
Ive cleared everything. What makes it stranger is it did it on my nexus and the s3, all after the 4.1.2 update came out. After 3-4 photos, low memory. Only on browser, app works fine

I'm currently running cm 10.2, and I'm curious as to why the device is still only showing 7.8gb of available internal storage. I understand that the /system and /data partitions still take up space, but I didn't expect it to limit my storage that much. Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated.

Your partition sizes are set and cannot be changed. Stock TW is huge so needs a lot of space. Flashing an aosp ROM doesn't free up any usable space. It just takes up a smaller portion of your system partition. Your data portion is also set to like 9±gb. Nothing you can do actually change that.

you have to understand there are many factors at play here
1st no memory in the market actually has as much space as it advertises: your 16gb s4 probably has 14.7 actual GB of usable memory
2nd unlike the good old days (s1 thereabouts) when system memory was the system's only and your stuff went into an included but external SD card; your 14.7 GB need to be used for the phone's vital functions such as boot, kernel, drivers, recovery... all of which take up space
3rd your ROM will take up room too: tw is huge but don't be fooled aosp ROMs also take a good chunk even though the download sizes are two worlds apart this is what you're seeing on the top line (system)
4th your apps and downloaded apps will rob your system storage: there are some apps that still need to install stuff inside the apk itself (which goes in your system memory rather than your "SD card") which is partly what you are seeing on the bottom (data) line
5th ROMs install apps themselves too: cyanogenmod asks you to install gapps (gmail, g+, hangouts, calendar.....) all of which will take up lots of room specially if you set them up. there are many apps that are HUGE yet vital for the phone to function: like Google play and play services. but your rom will come bundled with all the default apps you see on your drawer the first time which will take up most of that (data) space

After I installed my last app I got a message about 1.mb of storage left but I am currently at 7gb free. I tried clearing as much cache as I can and still get it if I install an app. I am running the beans rom and never had problems till now. I also clear cache and dalvik in recovery.

There ya go
Complete 16gb is not alocated for device storage.... you should move pictures, videos etc on sdcard
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
The pictures are not the problem since I have all my pictures on my sd card anyway. Also when I click on the pic, video it brings me to the gallery where all my pics are in folders on my sd.
And also I've tried uninstalling a few apps such as flipboard which was using around 200mb and still get the error. Also here is a screen shot of the issue.
Update. I went and wiped cache, data, system and internal storage (had an update anyway) and it is still there after restoring my apps.
I got the same thing yesterday, no idea where it's coming from.
