Hello everybody, I'm new here And I got newbie question.
I want to root and install Custom ROM'S to my device(I know how to that), I'll make my stock ROM 4.1.2 backup(in CWM). I was searching, and found, that I can un-root my device(get back warranty), but every tutorials says, that I will need download stock rom from Sammobile, but there arent firmware from my region. The question, do I will be able use my own backup like stock firmware in un-root proccess ? (Dont dowload firmaware from sammobile, but use own backup) If answer is "Yes", second question is, do I be able to recieve official updates after restore (OTA, KIES) ? Thanks for answers.
no. I mean, you will unroot but you will still have a custom recovery (CWM), and that voids your warranty

Probably Kies .
OTA not if rooted .

that, or follow the instructions for returning to the warranty state.
or if your recovery backs up /recovery partition then restoring the backup will overwrite CWM too
I'm confused Thanks for answers.

What do you really mean? from where are you accessing and what?
Why you want extract...? for removing any specific app?
If you have a CWM back up of earlier ROM, you can use Titanium Backup Pro for individual apps installation for installing from your earlier ROM....
I just wanted to do it in case I would like to back up to original state before rooting and flashing CM7.

If you use CWM you do not back up original as it has cwm and root kernel ,

OTA update usually fails to install .
Kies may update if it sees correct codes but as you are modify phone it may not .
You would be beter reading the faqs and guides first .

no, you'll have to decrease the binary counter with Triangle Away (requires root), then you can flash a stock ROM with Odin.
please, before you do anything stupid, read a TUTORIAL, because everything i'm saing is extremely superficial!
Why would you root then throw away all the benefits of being rooted by installing official updates?

You don't have to use big letters on us! We can read! Now, since you shouted at us, I'll be shouting back. No, you can't! You should stop using Kies anyway! It's cr*p!
hello devs,
i have an international variant GT-I9300 . I upgraded it with the ATO(OPEN AUSTRIA) . After this upgrade ,i was not able to root ...i used the CF AUTO ROOT , SUPERSU , and even mobogeine root method . its getting failed....
please help me devs......i would like to root it...either to get a stable international variant ROM.
If you intend to then flash a custom rom then don't bother rooting your stock firmware, all custom roms are already rooted.
If you want to stay stock then flash a prerooted version via odin, get a link for one on xda in general forum.

i checked the whole procedure of it as u told.... but while i am flashing CFROOT but it is showing "FAILED SIGNATURE VERIFICATION" . and the same thing for superSU ......
so...in case if i flash PHILZ RECOVERY or CWM ......without rooting........ will my phone get bricked ???...
Check out Cyanogenmod Installer follow the instrustion it will root and install the latest stable CM for your phone .
You are still missing basic knowledge, you can't flash anything with stock recovery.
Flashing recovery doesn't require root, but you can brick the phone if you don't understand what you are doing.
