For those of you with kids like myself, be sure to check out Interaction Control (Settings > My Device > Accessibility > Interaction Control). I'm not sure if this is an Android 4.2.2 or TW exclusive feature but I'm glad it was implemented.
By pressing home and volume down simultaneously, you can disable [home, menu, back, volume, and power] while preventing screen rotation. Be sure to draw a box around the status bar so your kids can't exit that way. Disable screen timeout and motion settings and your kids absolutely can't exit a game without holding menu and volume down. Start a movie and disable the entire screen!
This feature is the only 1-UP that IOS has had on Android, until now. If only we could set a password to unlock the setting, it'd be perfect. I'm sure that feature will come in the near future.

Heck ya! Definitely could. Good for the kids.

I guess you have to toggle off multi-window to use this. When I tried to turn this on, I got "Interaction control cannot be turned on while multi-window is in use". That's more of a hassle, as I like multi-window, and like to keep this enabled.
Sweet thanks for the tip I was looking for an app to do that

So I Know you can draw an up arrow to access the menu key functionality as well as drawing a back arrowto go back. Is there a way to access the home Screen with a gesture?

you can check out GMD spen control if you have root. It lets you set custom gestures.

Thanks, I can't believe they didit include this. not sure I want to go through the rooting process just yet. I'm sort of a recovering flashaholic

If you use another launcher other than TouchWiz you can. I just tested with sslauncher. I opened the gesture control and created a new gesture "H" and chose sslauncher from tae application list. It will not work with TW as it does not show up as an app. It is a bit of a work-around as you must first open with an upward motion and then write "H". Its far far quicker to press the Home button.
If you do decide, or already use a third party launcher i would recommend you use "SwipePad" instead to quickly jump to the home screen using the S-Pen
Anyone have a good way to do this? I found the files in the /system/usr/ folder but I'm not exactly sure what to edit...

Sorry to bump my own post, but I figured out how to remap APP_SWITCH to MENU, but I can't seem to get the 3 dot overflow menu button to show up in apps (like chrome), or map google now/search to long press home or long press menu. If anyone has any insight on this I'd greatly appreciate it.
While this isn't exactly what you want, I think you should be able to enable the navigation bar to give you the virtual home/recent/back buttons and trigger the virtual menu button. I don't have this phone, but it should work to just open up the build.prop and add the line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" (requires root obviously) and reboot. I've only done this on a galaxy s cm so it may go badly with a stock rooted... try at your own risk. If you do try, please respond (and post a screenshot ) as I'm curious and considering this phone.
I tried adding that line (again) but no luck...

It looks like (from the screenshot) that you have it =1, not 0. You want it to =0 because it's like saying false, there are no hard keys so android should add the navigation bar. Try changing it to =0, and maybe use a text editor like the one in root browser (free) and reboot. Let me know what happens
Wow you're right... stupid mistake on my part haha, I'll get right back to you after I try it again.
EDIT: Yup that did the trick. Not quite what I was looking for but cool anyways. Thanks!
Now is there anyway to remove the 3 dot overflow bar since my menu key still works lol

Can you post a screenshot? I'm not sure which you mean (3 dot menu or nav bar). Enabling the nav bar is just an easy way to get both a multitask button and the virtual menu button in an app's action bar. I'm not sure about just getting the action bar menu button, but if you don't figure it out it is a setting in cm10/10.1
Its not a big deal since I think it only applies in the settings menu, but yeah I would love to have cm 10 haha
Edit: Sorry about the ridiculous image size...

Any way to program long press of back button to kill app?
Sent from my LG-E971 using Tapatalk 2
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you have to mess with the systemui.apk to edit any of the long presses

Don't worry we'll see it as soon as cm 10 comes around.
Sorry to double post again, but does anyone know if we're able to theme the softkeys on this phone using similar methods as the galaxy nexus?

Stock Verizon Note 2 on latest update. I've noticed my phone will not turn its screen off while I am making phone calls with my ears pressed against the phone. Which is quite annoying as my cheeks will inadvertently press buttons while I am on the phone. When I try downloading a proximity sensory check tool on the play store, the sensor appears to work fine.
Anyone else experiencing issues with the proximity sensor while making calls?
Have you looked in phone settings and made sure auto screen off is turned on?

That would be perfect, by chance, do you know where that option is located? When I go to Settings --> Display I do not see that option, I only see smart rotation and smart stay options.
Open the phone app pull up your menu and then select call settings

Many Thanks! I have no clue how that option was unchecked.

Title pretty much says it all. Wondering if the multi-windows toggle in the quick pannel was removed on purpose. If not can it be added? Kind of a pain in the butt to have to go into settings/display to turn it on and off. btw, seems like a really good ROM imo.
Does holding the back button not work, or am I misunderstanding what you're asking?

Thanks for the replies . I am talking about the toggles that are in the pull down menu like data on off, bluetooth on of, airplane mode on off, etc.

And yes, holding the back button does hide the multi-Window tab. Thanks the help. I just like to completely disable it when not using it. The Verizon stock rom had the toggle in the quick menu.
I was cleaning my screen with a screen wipe this morning and was cleaning the bottom of the screen and all of a sudden the screen turned to all negative look. The screen was off when I did it.
Unlocked phone and everything still negative, a reboot fixed it but what is the key sequence that does this? Only curious sonic don't do it again (or do it to a friends phone and freak them out)
