flashing jb kernel - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

hi,
i have a custom kernel of cm9.
i want to flash new rom of cm10. can i just flash it from the recovery? or i have to flash it via fastboot?
thanks

To run cm10 u need a jb kernel..
So first flash custom kernel (boot.img)
Then flash rom zip..
Wipe if asked to
U can flash any kernel via cwm if it made cwm flashable..no matter for cm9 or 10

[Q] How to Make flashable recovery ?

Ok here's the thing.
I wanna make a backup of cwm 5.0.2.7 which I obtain from a stock CF 5.0 kernel and then make a flashable zip of this recovery so that I can flash it after flashing other kernels like speedmod etc which have an older cwm 4.0.1.5
This way I can get a newer recovery with the latest custom kernel
So basically I wanna know how do we make a custom flashable zip of your current recovery ? A quick response would be appreciated .
Cheers XDA Community ! Forever faithful .
Don't think that's possible, recovery is part of the kernel, you need a kernel that has the specific recovery that you want. Siyah's kernel uses the latest 5.0.2.7 recovery so that's what you need to flash, if speedmod use an older one you simply have to flash siyah's kernel.

Just dwnld the 'Siyah kernel v4.1.5 or v5.0.1' (tar file for ODIN) and flash the same thro 'Odin' on ur pc.
It will automatically Root ur phone and install 'SuperSu' and latest CWM recovery for u.
then using the cwm recovery of siyah kernel u can flash any custom rom of ur choice.
after flashing the custom rom based on 4.1.2 u wont loose ur root
ps- once u install custom kernel like siyah ur phone will be safe from the 'Brick Bug' issue for sure
Flashed the Siyah Kernel.
About to flash custom rom
but got one finally question.
The custom rom; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498017
Says it has philz kernel or whatever
so can i still flash it? and does it change my kernel?
Does it have a effect on me?

Yes, u can flash it and the Kernel (philz) that comes with that rom will replace ur Siyah kernel for sure but u wont loose ur root
it will not have any effect on u though
do follow the install instruction for a successfull flash of the rom.
Cheers!!
Thanks, it works!!

[Q] Flashing PA to the S3 with stock

I'm already rooted by the CF method.I have CWM v5 and know how to handle it.I have experience with commands. But I'm coming from a Sony phone. And there's one thing I do not get, I saw there are custom kernels for the S3.They are named all CWM, which I think they are CWM flashable, which was not the case with my Sony.I also see the PA zip has a boot.img in it, so I'm asking. If i install the PA zip after the custom kernel one, will it overwrite the kernel? If so, can anyone post me steps on how to flash PA with the Boeffla kernel on it?
Just flash the Rom let it boot up, then boot back to recovery and flash boeffla
Ah so it will boot with stock. Thanks for clearing that up!

it depend on the custom rom you want to flash it is usually stated whether you can use any recovery or a certain one(xrecovery or cwm) in the requierement of the rom. so you won't be able to install certain rom unless you have xrecovery but then again that depend on the rom. so. which custom gingerbread rom do you want to use
