Im currently running KitKat for my sola and wanted to flash a JB rom. The right way to do it is flash a JB kernel and then flash the JB rom?
Use flash tool or flash via CWM custom rom .

You can use Mesa v1.8, Panic v1.25, Rage or any ICS kenel, like it's explained in the thread of the rom. Please just read there
Because the rom is for ics, flash the ics version of the kernel, but if the rom won't boot, you have to flash the stock ics ftf first and after that flash the custom rom again

i think you need to root your phone first, install cwm, then flash stock ICS ROM,after that then flash SlimCM rom.
what about kernel ?? do I need to install it in the end and what kernels work best with SlimCM ? won't I loose root when I flash stock ICS Rom ?

Use fast boot and flash sliding xu kernel. Actually I recommend transcendence kernel. Flash that, reboot into recovery, copy ROM zip to storage. Wipe data, cache, dalvik and system and then flash slim cm zip

Hi, i've an Xperia P with locked bootloader, .100 firmware, root, cwm and THE DARK ROM flashed. Now i want to flash JB Moonbreaker 3.5 and i want to know if it's necessary to flash a stock jb kernel as described in the instruction. Can't i only flash the zip that contain the rom as i did for The Dark ROM?

You can always try, however, I can tell you "The Dark ROM" install things this ROM may not be ready for and might conflict with what istalled with this ROM.
When there is a doubt there is no doubt, best you can do is re-flash stock and install JB Moonbreaker.
There are enough problems with custom ROMs, you don't want to add more.

Yes, ofcourse.
DO NOT FLASH THE KERNEL(bricks your phone if you are lb)
I think just flash zip would be alright.

Yeah my doubt was about the need to flash a stock kernel (not custom) before flashing Moonbreaker

it depend on the custom rom you want to flash it is usually stated whether you can use any recovery or a certain one(xrecovery or cwm) in the requierement of the rom. so you won't be able to install certain rom unless you have xrecovery but then again that depend on the rom. so. which custom gingerbread rom do you want to use

No worries dude.....if you have flashed a jelly bean rom now just download fusion or super fusion kernel for haida and flash via fastboot.... It should solve the issue.... If installed custom rom is kit kat, flash kernel from the rom zip or you can try dark kernel.....
If it do not solve the issue flash full stock ftf.... then flash any good kernel of your choice....
