[Q] Android Tasks (Activesync) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi There!
I have the Galaxy S4 with 4.2.2 Android.
I am trying to find the "default" task/todo application but I can't. I need something that is activesync or exchange aware so my tasks from Outlook/Exchange will sync to my device. Prefer free, but cheap is ok too.
Many thanks.

Would be better if I didn't need to setup the exchange account separately in this app.

Hi, everybody..
I have a little question for the community,
Is there a way to replace on CM9 or CM10, email, exchange and calendar app with the ICS 4.0.4 SAMSUNG stock application?

Thank's for your answer, sorry for the reply on retard
k9 is not for me, i need use active sync on exchange, i tried moxier but contacts are not fully integrated with the phone address book, is not possible using phone/address book application to add a contact on exchange is mandatory use moxier app.
I need using also S/MIME extension to sign and crypt messages.
I think, at the moment, Sammy's email, calendar apps ICS/JB is the best interface for exchange.
On CM9/10 there is another problem with phone app, is not possible to add contact on FDN list, instead on Sammy phone app this feature work correctly.
At the moment i use WanAmLite ICS 4.0.4 rom and everything work fine, but CM10 is faster and stable.
Thank's for support

[Q] Exchange Task sync Android 4.2.1

Hi
Is there a good app to sync Exchange tasks with my S3 when running CM10.1?
- I tried Moxier
- I tried RoadSync
- I tried Tasks for Microsoft Exchange
Problems i had with these are:
- I like the integration with the OS of the standard mail and calendar ==> Exit Moxier & Roadsync
- My exchange requires a security certificate that needs to be handled by the app ==> Exit Tasks for Microsoft Exchange
The reason why i'm asking the help of you guys is because i don't want to test every app out there, configure it and ask for a refund if it doesn't work (all within 15 minutes).
Any ideas?
Regards
MrHubris
No one with any input in this matter?
Is no one but me missing such an app??
I do !
And I've found this app :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.myklos.inote
Give it a try, it is the only Activesync Tasks app in Google Play. I've debugged it with the developper, many features are coming.
Ah wait, I'm not sure it supports Certificate based auth, maybe you could ask the developper, he is very responsive.
Thx for the reply.
I tested the app but it's not updating task (or notes). Neither is it giving an error. Very weird.

It's activesync based, not OWS. Could it be the problem?

Well, from my understanding it's activesync.
Reason i'm saying, is because touchdown works and says "successfully configured via ActiveSync".
Do i need to configure the app? It seems to detect my "corporate" account from the start. I also noticed that when i go into the account settings of the app there is no way for me to "insert" the certificate.
I believe my question is:
- Should it autodetect the exchange settings (when an account is already configured for email and calendar) or not?
Regards
Mr_H
Ok then you may want to get in touch with the dev.
It probably has to do with the auth mechanism. At least on my side it works properly but i'm using a login/password auth.

It is missing key features, like Status and % Complete.
I m missing the same functionality. As far as I know all the roms from the productors (like sense, touchwiz etc.) have this functionality. But I did not see it on any of the AOSP or AOKP roms which I tested. I used touchdown on my legend but that also lacks the integration with native calendar. When I lately switched from sense to CM on my one s few days ago know I also looking for a solution for this tasks problem. notes is not important for me but tasks are a must for me. I m looking for notes and task for now since its the only option supporting activesync as far as I can see. but we somehow make google note that this should be an out of the box feature for android if it is tought to be a serious phone. I believe reason behind it is being neglected by google is that google thinks android as a platform or an environment not an all included application pack. but when it come to serious use if something important is missing and developers don't come up with a solution big guys should give it a hand and I believe this is the case here.

Change User Agent (Exchange)

Hi,
I am new to Android. I bought a Galaxy S4 wit Android 4.2.2 preinstalled. In my Company we are allowed to sync with Active Sync/Exchange our Mails, Contacs and Calendar. But we are only allowed to use it with Windows Mobile and iOS!
The Sync with my Galaxy works perfect but when I check the sync protocoll in my Outlook Web Access Account they will see that I am syncing a Android device.
Is it possible to hide or change the User Agent for Exchange?
Thanks for your help.

I've been looking for this exact thing for a while now, with no luck. Even posted my own thread, but got no responses:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226021
I believe it involves decompiling APKs, but I'm not exactly sure where to look, and I've never done it before.

[Q] Is there a way to make my S4 look like a GNex for exchange email purposes?

Here's the deal - I want to add my corporate email account to the stock app on my S4 however - my company has stopped approving individual Android phones to the network. They now want me to use the 3rd party app Touchdown, which I don't want to do.
My last phone was a Galaxy Nexus and was able to successfully use the activesync exchange. Is there a way to trick my company in thinking I have a GNex (approved phone) so I can use the native app? Changing the phone name in the build.prop file didn't seem to work.
I'd prefer to use the S4 native app but if I can pull the stock app from the GNex, that works too.
Thanks for your help!
Matt
I can't really answer your question, but have one of my own to you. What's wrong with Touchdown? I actually prefer it since I only have to enter my pin when I launch the app. When I configured the stock app for Exchange I had to enter it every time I woke my phone which drove me crazy. I acknowledge it's a personal preference thing.

Stock looks so much nicer. Looks like an app actually created for JB. Touchdown looks like a blackberry app from 2003. I like the way stock integrates with my calendar.
Also, I used the modified version of the stock app so I didn't have to enter a PIN

While I agree that visually Touchdown is not as nice as the stock app, it will sync the phone's native calendar with exchange.

Do you know how? My understand is that while it may sync with contacts, it can't sync with the stock calendar.

When you setup the account in Touchdown you just select the Calendar to sync.
I have used it on many different ROMs and since my Galaxy Nexus. I have noticed that sometimes it can take a while for the events to appear in the calendar. (A couple hours at times at first.)
I think you are SOL. The Exchange server you will connect to can (and is probably configured) to check a unique hash generated from your current phone that is registered at the first sync that was done on your GNex. There are hacks out there, but I have no idea how well they work.

Can you point me to the modified stock app? I'd at least like to take a look and see if it's something I can use. I'll not totally sold on Touchdown and an alternative would be nice.

I'm a little confused here. So you can use your phone but only if you use Touchdown. Does touchdown connects to your network some special way? What error do you get when you try to use your S4 mail app?

I've been using Touchdown for a few years now and I really like it but I've never found a way to have the Touchdown calendar copied/synched/etc to the phone's built-in calendar. I know this option exists for the contacts but I just checked all of the settings in TD again and an option to do so with the calendar does not appear to exist. Please tell me how you accomplish this?

When you initially set up the account it gives you the tick boxes for email, contacts, and calendar. I select email and calendar but not contacts and it has always synced my calendar.

Correct. I was told by my internal IT that they do not authenticate individual models of Android phones anymore for activesync (because there is so many different versions. ugh.). So they tell you that if your device isn't already on the list, you need to use Touchdown. I was able to use the stock app on the Gnex, but can't on my S4. The error message simply says "Setup could not finish: Authentication failed".
I was hoping there would be some way to manipulate the app so my phone would appear as a GNex to the network.
Now that the S4 had been out for a little bit I will give this a bump and hope someone had a solution Please help . Thanks!

Not sure if this will help you but for a while I had flipped to another client see this url http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-note-2/231093-i-miss-my-email-widget.html
And see the post from 12-18-2012, 11:55 AM alvarez13.
One of the many times I restored I did have a problem with FC's and created a step 6...
6. If this doesn't work just remove those two apps from the app folder and install the 2 apks from the SD Card. Then run TIBU and convert email to a system app, if it errors reboot the device.
If all else fails you just remove those two apks, and rename the original files back and reboot. Of course as always....
Please make a backUp when trying any mod, I am not responsible if your phone breaks. Yada Yada :good:
So update: I downloaded CM and can use the stock email app. For some reason on CM - my S4 appears as a GNex to my company's servers. Is there anyways to make that change so I can enjoy stock email use on TouchWiz?
Somebody must know how to make this change. Please help!

I also did not find a way to sync calendar. Should I un-install Touch Down and re-install it to get to the option?
Thanks

I would suggest Hyperdrive as an option and choose aosp email client vs tw. Hope that helps. Idk if it will but it seems it would since it's based off of cm's email client.
If I helped don't forget to hit that thanks button.
