On screen time is the main thing we need. without it this means nothing.

I'd post a screen but my phones away right now. Past two days I've gotten 12-14 hours of battery life with ~3 hours of screen on, and I'll end the day at 45%.
It's god tier coming from a gnexus

Tested it yesterday. It's incredible. Over 5 hours screen time and I was at 11%.
Sent from my Kickass S4 using Tapatalk 2.

Came from a bionic with the larger battery and a solid CPU governor and the S4 doesn't even come close. Hopefully CPU control will improve the battery life on the S4. It's enough to use it just fine but I got used to only needing to charge my phone every 2-3 days.

mine usualy lasts 1/2 days with alot of 2d gaming

Coming from an evo 3d on the sprint network, I couldn't be happier. 15 hours of relatively heavy usage with 25% left to spare is not something I am used to. ..
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app

With heavy usage running stock un-rooted on the phone, installing and running apps, etc., I hit almost 24 hours before it died. Coming from my GNex which needed to be charged within 5-6 hours, this is absolutely awesome.

I wish I could get 5 to 6 hrs...im only getting 4 thus far.
Not rooted. Yet.

Yea I think my battery has been just okay. Coming from a note 2 I think it's not even comparable.
I'm not in a rooted device.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2

Mine has been more than adequate. It's been off the charger for 14 hours. It's at 55% with just over 3.5 hours screen time.

The standby time for this phone is amazing. It's such a huge improvement from my LG Revolution. I'm not being forced to charge it every night and it charges pretty quick. It was sure worth the wait.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app

My first full charge lasted 40 hours with moderate use!
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2

Must be because I just set my phone up and did it's first charge overnight but it's only been off the charger for 4 hours and I'm down to 28% battery with 2hrs screen on.
I think i have to go through all my apps and see what's killing it. Going to let it die and then charge it up full again.

I got 2% drop over 8 hours in standby

I am trying to see a way to script killing the security storage process. If you are roted and use all in one toolbox, you can kill this on JB 4.2.2
I left phone on and it dropped only 2% during the night ( wifi set to go off on sleep)
My rooted droid x would drop 10-15% in same manner
I posted to see if there is a way- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295923

Finally plugged her in..bravo S4

Too early to tell yet, how many charges does it take to "prime" the battery? Since I just got my replacement I've only charged it once from the 50% it was when I got it.

In all fairness to the s4 the Note II has a bigger battery capcity and the processor is clocked a little bit lower. The battery saver mode highest clock speed must also be considered. The battery saver mode for the Note II reduces the max clock frequency by 1/3 down to 1.1GHz. So if the s4 is clocked at a max of 1.9GHz and you reduce that by 1/3, then you end up with a max clock frequency of 1.3GHz. Based on a scenario of both the cpus for the s4 and Note II running at their max frequency in battery saver mode, it wouldn't ever be a fair comparison for the s4 because it maxes out at a higher clock frequency and has a smaller battery capacity.

Clock speed doesn't always equal bad battery life. You have governors, heat, signal strength, and the CPU architecture. I'm pretty sure the krait cores are smaller then the exynos cores, and I'm not sure of the voltages either.

Android os battery drain?

Android os is slowly eating my battery.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Yup. It's taking 50% drain of all other services on my phone
Android os is near or at ths top of the list of battery consumption on my phone most of the time. But I'm not to concerned about it because I'm getting excellent battery life on this phone so far. It exceeded 3.5 hours of display on time before I had to recharge the battery the first time.
I wouldn't get too excited about battery stats until you have had your phone for 4 or 5 days and get settled into normal use and have completed a half dozen our so recharge cycles because the battery stats will not be very accurate until then.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Yeah im getting good battery life so far too but if it didnt have this issue we would be getting excellent battery life. In six hours of very little use its sucked down 21% and ran for over 30 minutes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Android OS is at 47% for me.
I'm wondering if it's some sort of reporting bug, because I'm still getting excellent battery life. With debloating to kill all the background services and some minor power management tweaks in the kernel, it's doing significantly better than Serendipity VII did on the Infuse, which I didn't think is possible.
Usually at my desk in weak signal, Cell Standby is #1 and Phone Idle is #2 on the Infuse. They're #2 and #3 respectively for me.
I wonder if it's a dual-core reporting bug, because I've NEVER seen it over 50%, and if you ignore it, the remaining items in battery usage are consistent with what I'd expect to see for a device in the conditions I'm putting it in and the battery life I'm getting. It may be that for every item that wakes up one CPU core, it gets counted, and Android OS gets counted equally on the other CPU core.
This is the same problem that the Sprint's version faced. There's a few long threads about it over in their section.
When I had the Sprint version, my AOS was random after each nightly charge. It would be really high one day, then really low the next. I've noticed that I get the best battery life when AOS is 2x%.
This is the first day after a full charge for my at&t version and AOS is around 2x%. 9h on battery and I'm at 70% with little - moderate use.
I've been unplugged for 13.5 hours and I'm still at 74%. Auto brightness ON, 1hr 20 min display time. My Android OS is 18%. Thats way better battery life than I was getting with my Captivate. I'm stock right now(no root, kernel changes for now )
I was at 88% after 9 hours on my desk - that's pretty good considering the weak-signal conditions at my desk.
There is a similar situation with my LG Thrill. I haven't really monitored the battery usage on my SGS2 yet, but I'm thinking that you may be correct in questioning the dual-core issue. My only hesitation in saying that is that I don't have the same issue on my Atrix and it, too, has a dual core.
Android OS is currently at 21% for me(n my (SGS2), but I'm using my Atrix as my primary phone at the moment. So, it isn't being used excessively.
Probably not a universal bug with dual-core, but some firmwares may not handle it properly.
I have this same 'bug' on my HTC inspire and it has remained through about 10 different rom flashes.
I have been all over this phone today playing games, downloading and installing apps and check this out

[Q] Battery Degradation/Battery Life Question

Over the course of the past month I've appeared to have a drastic decrease in battery life. Just wanted some opinions. I've switched between AOKP, Neo-AOKP, and Rage (which I am currently on), and there seems to be little difference (or at least, nothing is making it significantly better). I always do full wipes before installs. All GPS features turned off, brightness around the 30% mark, no task killer, JuiceDefender running on default balanced settings. See screenshots below for additional information. From 100% to the time of these screenshots I've done about 15-20 texts, 2 phone calls that were both less than 60 seconds, 5 times or so on Facebook (just scrolling through feed mostly), and a total of 5-10 minutes on the internet. I guess what I'm wondering is: Is it possible that my battery has somehow degraded over the past month? And, should i be getting better battery life than this? I am on the stock/standard Rezound battery. Thanks!

I used to run juice defender. It doesn't seem to play well with AOSP, causes lots of wakeups. Try uninstalling/disabling and seeing if it helps, particularly overnight. I don't have any proof but my battery seems to be lasting longer without. (About 5.6 pct per hour during the day, 1-2 pct per hour overnight)
Personally, I use setcpu to make profiles for screen on and off. Screen On, I use Intellidemand tho Neo swears by Lazy. For Screen Off, I set max clock speed to 700 ish mhz and put governor on Wheatley. I can say one thing for sure, Wheatley makes the phone deep sleep very well, assuming you don't have a sync issue or frequently updating widget interfering.
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk 2
There seems to be a discrepancy between your battery usage monitor and your GSam monitor. Your battery monitor is showing 7 hours plus while the GSam is showing 3 minutes plus since charged.
For the 69% on screen, how long was the screen actually on? Touch the screen percentage to see how long your screen was on. Right now, I am at 13 hours plus with 50% left. My screen is at 65% and has been on 1 hr 53 min. Indoors, I also keep my brightness at 20%.
It seems that some folks have also said they find juice defender to use more battery than it saves. Try uninstalling it and see what happens.
I am using Nils' Business ICS4.0.3, Sense 3.6 ROM and having great battery life with the standard battery.

Snuzzo - it seems, for now, that your recommendation to go with a vanilla CM9 seems to be the trick. I'll have to monitor over the next few days to be sure, but with the same setup i was running on rage, where i would lose about 3-4%/hour with the phone just sitting and going to sleep, i've only lost 1% in the past 2 hours while on your most updated (10/16) build with your 1.5 kernel..
would i be able to run more recent versions of your kernel on you 10/16 build?
I haven't done 1.8 and 1.7 has the minimum frequency voltage fixed plus a couple extras. Don't try running 1.6 as it was very experimental.

[Q] Samsung galaxy s3 battery

Im new to this forum thing so sorry if i do/type something wrong. Anyway, i got my gs3 few months ago, and the battery life lasts a day, when i had iphone 3g it lasted like 3 days without charging, so i wanna know if this is normal with everyone or i have to fix it. Yes its rooted with a costume rom.
How often do you use it? Which CPU governor are you using? Make sure it can deep sleep, because if it doesn't it will drain very quickly.
Deep sleep? First I'm hearing about that. Could I set that myself in the paranoid kangdroid ROM
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Deep sleep is a built-in feature that reduces power consumption when you're not using the phone. There are some applications that will keep your phone awake (known as a a wakelock) even when the phone's screen is off. To find out more, get CPU Spy and Wakelock Detector. The former will show you how long your CPU is in each frequency and deep sleep, if at all. The latter will scan for apps that are keeping your phone awake when it should be sleeping.
How much screen on time and other use does it get?
I get 3-4 hours of screen on time before I charge and that's a typical day for me. The newer and more powerful hardware is going to use more battery in general, too - compared to an older phone with much weaker hardware.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If your phone lasts a full day, that's a miracle by today's standards. My S3 i9300 lasts about a full day also, with ~2 hours of screen time at most. Unless you have a Motorola Razr Maxx (3300 mAh battery) or a Note 2, you're probably not going to get over a day of battery life on any phone with anything over minimal usage. Also, don't let your battery die completely; don't go lower than around 20-25%. If you repeatedly do, your battery will overall hold less of a charge.
I suggest also that you turn on Power Saver if you're not gaming. Go into Settings -> Power Saver and disable the screen power savings (it limits the frame rate). This basically keeps the phone from going above 1 GHz (barely noticeable in terms of speed, but big battery savings).
Since you use a custom ROM, try messing with the min/max frequencies of your phone. My Samsung Galaxy SII has pretty good battery life; in this screenshot it's about 2 hours of screen time - 30 minutes of internet data, 30 minutes of music and the rest is miscellaneous gaming, videos, arranging apps etc. Oh yes, and a few phone calls, of course.

Yes... The stand by time is really good on this phone... I had the phone off the charger for 8 hours and barely used it all day ( busy day at work ) and I was still at 89 Percent at the end of the day... It definitely takes a few cycles still you notice major major changes .
I have exinos and never had a worse phone regarding battery life and heating. I tried all possible solutions for increasong battery life but still I get only 3-4 hours of SOT with a total of about just 15 hours!!!
What iritates me the most is that I do not have mjch apps and all is set to sleep and everything possible but the phone still randomly gets super hot even when nothing is runing, which then drains the battery too.
The drain overnight is also bad, it is draining 1-2% per hour.
Poor battery life . Same result even after carrier sent a replacement.
cant believe that i have s9 plus exynos and battery life is really not good for me.
Battery vs Movie
Whenever I try to watch movie on my mobile. Then It takes only 30 minutes to empty battery. I don't know why this is happening to me. I spent a lot of money to buy this ****ty phone. :crying:

Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
This was my first day after battery learning usage patterns went away. This was actually like day 4 or 5 of owning the phone.
Not bad I'd say...
Here's a screenshot of my screen on time. I used to phone pretty happy today but this is my best so far. Yesterday the phone died at around nine and a half hours fuse lately I've been loving the consistency of the battery life on this phone. It's similar to the s10 plus in the fact that the more you use it the longer it lasts. Thankfully I've had zero issues with battery drain to my knowledge.
this is on a day off with all the Bluetooth tracking nonsense turned off,
Location on during the use of one specific app for about an hour and a bit,
Optimized setting on battery,
Sync on for Gmail, ig, etc
Wi-Fi turned on all day,
no always on display,
no adaptive brightness,
What are your thoughts if anyone has questions please let me know?
(Edit phone is at 1 percent with 10h and 12min)

Where do you see that learning patterns?
I actually never saw that on my phone, no matter which option I turn on or off.

I saw this under device care> battery>estimated battery usage. Now it shows me approx the total hrs of battery life I have left.
Superb battery life

I am using exynos version.
Here is my first day on note 10+ with power medium mode no aod active 8h 30 min. and then i try with no restriction max resolutiin and aod and i got 9h and 54 min. Battery amazing on exynos version.

Watching YouTube for over 5 hours would give most phones a high screen on time.

Snapdragon is better than Exynos so it will be a better performer

Here's a list
Sad
Terrible
Note 10+, adaptive brightness, dark mode, medium power saving mode on
Great reception and signal. Weak results.
Maybe a rogue app you got there. Check for any app crashes.
I'm not getting good battery life...
With brightness below 50%, max resolution, always on display... I have the exynos version.

Me too... battery sucks on my exynos, brightness 35%
Why??? 5h without game or video
Haven't really formally tested all the way to zero, but today at 80% I had about 2 hours of screen time. Now I'm at 63% with nearly 3 hours of screen time. So I'm thinking 6-7 hours of screen time with my daily usage, which is excellent for me.
Performance mode on, FYI. Brightness usually 50%+.
